    Torta

I would drive to Mexico just to get authentic Mexican food not knowing about this place. I've had their torta -'s tacos and they are on par with the excellent quality you'd expect from an authentic Mexican food place. This has become my favorite place to get Mexican food. The torta was packed with all the different flavors from the salsa, meat, and herbs used to make a mouthwatering meal at a price you can't beat. The portions are very generous and customer service is top notch. I highly recommend this place.

This looked like a solid taco spot on Yelp, and it was no disappointment. Food was fresh, fast and delicious. Birria was flavorful and rich. Tripas were clean and cooked crunchy the way I like. And there's Buche! Sure it's in rough part of town and hours are limited, but it's soooo worth it.

One of the best burritos I've had in a long time! I came through Bakersfield and was looking for a good spot to eat and was craving this. The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked, rice and beans great, toppings fresh.

Excellent food, well seasoned, excellent service, nice and peaceful dine in area. We had carne asada tacos, quesabirria tacos and shrimp tacos as well. Everything tasted great.

HANDS. DOWN. MY. FAVORITE. EVER. There are literally so many taco places in town and they all have something different to offer, and many are very delicious indeed......but oh my goodness, I just can't get over this place. It feels like a literal hole in the wall place and it feels questionable, but it's ALWAYS these spots that are under-appreciated and overlooked. My favorite item that I get is the el pastor and chorizo burrito. It's hugely proportioned (enough for 2 people or 2 meals if you wanna keep for yourself...) & is bursting with flavor! Each bite is surely satisfying. No, this isn't the place if you wanna watch your diet, cause you can see the grease from the foil they wrap it in, but that's exactly what I want from my burritos! If I'm gonna splurge, I'm going all in. In addition, I had them cater my son's first birthday party a year ago. They came and set up promptly, were generous, brought their own plates, utensils, and napkins, as well as the sides (salsas, etc.) & it was a huge hit! We had expected 50 people to show up and therefore made an order for 50 people to be fed. But nearly 20 didn't show up, but they still had the courtesy to cook for the 20 people who didn't arrive, and allowed us to take the allotted extra food ourselves. Will forever use them as our taco guys and will always come here for my Mexican food cravings!

I've been here a handful of times now. The tacos are really good. The meat is flavorful and cooked really well. The tortillas are fried up very nice; they the perfect amount of flex and crunch while still not being greasy. All the fixings seem decent quality. But the place could be held together a lot better. There is only a small opening to order food and it's easy for them to not see you. It's not the cleanest place either. Once when I came in there was a baby wearing only a diaper walking and for a while until they grabbed him and took him to the back. The food saves this rating. I am always hesitant to go back. Probably should be a 2 but the food is that good. 3 stars.

This small taqueria is not in the best of neighborhood so walking up to it makes it seem as if you are about to embark in a world of stomach pain. The outside of the building is a bit run down and there's is a big homeless population running around, but as you walk in you noticed that the dirty environment stayed outside. The venue was clean and fresh considering it was 108 degrees that day. They kept the restaurant at a fairly comfortable temperature. Looking around you will see old school red booths with some artwork hanging. To the right there is a fridge filled with beverages. Directly ahead is a counter with the menu posted up above. A very friendly man pops out his head from a small window and takes your order. I went with 2 asada, 2 al pastor and 2 carnitas mixtas. I was informed that you pay after you eat so I grabbed my soda and sat down. The tacos took about 8 minutes to be completed. When I got my order the tacos smelled amazing and looked even better. They are double tortilla tacos, they are fairly small but they pack so much flavor on them that it was not a issue. The tortillas where semi crunchy which gave every bite a pleasant texture all the meats where tender and perfectly seasoned. The asada was my favorite. The salsa wasn't spicy but had great flavor. With a little squirt of lemon on top these tacos had to of been top 2 tacos I have EVER tasted. DO NOT Let the way the outside of this restaurant looks give it a try the owner is friendly and can cook a darn good taco. Most definitely would recommend everyone give it a try. Also on Tuesday the tacos are 99 cents.

They load you up with meat that are all cleverly seasoned and prepared. Asada has smokey taste to it that I think some places lack. Pastor has the perfect blend of sweet and spicy . Buche is savory and doesn't feel like you're even eating offal. Everything is loaded up! The loaded potato has about a 1/2" lb of meat or more. The quesadillas are plump! Meat almost falls out. Sauces and other accompaniments are self serve and you can get as much as you want. Their chipotle salsa is spicy but damn is it good. They even have spicy onions that I never see. While you wait for your meal and watch the taquero at work, they have beans, tostadas, nopal, grilled onions and jalapenos all just sitting there FOR FREE. They also have some tiny potatoes soaking in the meat juices if you're lucky enough that they haven't run out (also for free!). The experience is just so customer forward and this is a gem that I hope expands even more. They have deals every week from buy one get one tortas, $1 tacos at a certain day at each location. It's often they have a line so consider yourself blessed if there isn't.

Eventually, she asked me about order 31 and repeated the tacos that were in it. I told her those weren't mine because that's not what I thought I ordered, so she offered to remake the food. I then waited another 20 minutes for the remake. When she finally handed me the order, my drink was missing even though I paid for one. She went back to check the ticket and realized she had grabbed the wrong order entirely. At that point, somehow the original order 31 that had been sitting on the counter the whole time magically turned out to actually be my order after all. So my food had apparently been sitting there getting cold while I waited another 20 minutes for a remake that shouldn't have even happened. The entire situation was disorganized, confusing, and handled very poorly.

The place is pretty easy to find on the corner of 18th & R. There isn't a lot of seating for more than parties of 4. We were a party of 6 and we all smooshed into a horseshoe booth inside. There are only 2 of these booths available and they indicated they are not able to place additional seating at the booths. I imagine you might be able to put tables together outside for a larger party. We were greeted warmly, and while I felt overwhelmed by the amazing choices, the gal taking our order put me at ease by walking me through the menu board. We got amazing carnitas quesadillas and tacos and another dish that came on top of a mound of delicious fries. It's the kind of place where you order, then sit down and they bring you the food. We were well taken care of. Our drinks were refilled and they brought us 'to go' boxes. Their portions are generous and just tasty. And the iced tea was perfect! We ordered a full order of chips and salsa. That is extra. It was $6 for a full order ($5 for half) and these chips were well worth the cost. We will be back!

But on a recommendation from colleagues, I was told to make the trip to the central part of town and check out Birria Bros. I'm a convert: It's the best overall place I've had in town. Their menus is simple and laconic without a lot of options: You pick from taco, burrito, quesadilla, and flautas and then you pick the meat: birria, al pastor, or carne. No craziness or Flamin' Hot anything. This is my kind of establishment already. The service is no-frills: It's an iPad with a cashier, and you get one of those pager things that buzz/sound when your food is ready. And then your food gets prepared in the truck and served. This is all anyone needs in life. I enjoy their quesotacos. They're a bargain and a great size at that. But my favorite are the flautas: They're cruchy, creamy, and cheesy. The combos are good too because the rice and beans are tasty. Their orange-colored salsa is smoky but absolutely spicy - definitely use with caution but entirely worth the burn. I think the best thing about BB is the value, as you get a great product for what you pay. I wish they'd open a location on the Southwest.
