From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a smile and welcomed right away. The menu was brought to us very quickly, and the staff was incredibly attentive throughout our entire visit. Since we arrived later in the evening, the lights were dimmed and our table was lit with a small table light, which created such a perfect, mellow, and intimate atmosphere. They also have a beautiful open bar, and there was a gentleman taking photos throughout the evening. We were even given the option to purchase the photo, which was such a fun touch! Now for the food... WOW! Everything was absolutely delicious. I ordered the **Asada Tacos**, and they were HUGE and packed with flavorful, tender meat. They came with rice and beans, and every bite was so satisfying. My date ordered the **Tri-Tip aguachile dish**, and I honestly don't know how to describe the amount of flavor in every bite! The steak was incredibly tender and flavorful--it practically melted in my mouth. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure our dining experience was enjoyable from beginning to end. I truly have nothing but good things to say about **Ay Mi Pa!** I would definitely recommend it for a family dinner, a date night, a couples' night out, or even just hanging out with friends. Great food, great atmosphere, and wonderful service! read more

Foods good. Prices are way too high. Service is insultingly bad. Like they are doing you a favor and are too cool to help you. Waste of space. read more

My bartender was cool until I asked for my bill and he decided to entertain the ladies on the other side of the bar. I couldn't really taste the difference between the Paloma and the margarita ‍. The place is decorated really nice but what they should've focused on was making agood food. I'm so glad I only ordered appetizers because had I ordered food I would've wasted so much money. Birria tacos simply taste like red beef tacos, no real authentic flavor. Shrimp skewers I was told was okay but even that had more veggies than actual shrimps. The rice wasn't cooked all the way. The presentation on nachos was excellent but the nachos were gross. No flavor in guacamole. Beans were plain beans bland af. The chicken wasn't seasoned and had an awful charbroiled taste, just awful! The salsa weren't spicy or tasty. I can only recommend this place for a good happy hour spot because prices are outrageous for drinks. Once again they should've focused on the food than the decor. read more

We were in the area and stopped by Ay Mi Pa on a whim! The decor is amazing, the ceiling details and lights and everything looks awesome inside. When we entered we were met at the hostess stand and asked to sit at the bar as we just wanted to get some drinks while we waited for family. The restaurant wasn't busy and there was a band setting up for later - I wish we had planned to come back for that - they looked fun! The drinks were awesome and the glassware is really cool! The bartender answered our questions and was really nice. We will be back to try some more! read more

I came with a party of 8 people on a weekday evening for dinner. It wasn't very busy, so we were able to get our food relatively quickly. The interior is very beautiful and cozy. I ordered the Bad Girl drink which was very sweet and fruity. I got the Jeffe skillet which was delicious - I loved the wide variety of meats I got to try, and the corn was amazing. The churros were also delicious with the caramel sauce. Overall, I had a great experience and will be back for more churros! read more

Me and my best friend decided to meet Monday night for dinner and she choose this spot. I called to see how long the wait was and It's was recommended that I make a reservation and so I did but when we walked in the restaurant it was empty. The server was patient and we tried to decide what we walked to drink and eat. The restaurant had a quiet atmosphere even though they are located at the Valley Plaza and it was the beginning of spring break. We both ordered the same drinks and food. Both drinks and entree (it was actually a shareable plate) tasted great but the salsa that came with the chips was a bit ordinary with no spice. Another staff member brought out two more salsas and jalepenos torneados. These salsas had more bite to them. read more

Visited Ay Mi Pa! for Happy Hour & it was decent. I think it is a good value for better than average happy hour food. -Complimentary Chips & Salsa: I could eat a whole basket of them. Delicious chunky salsa, perfect spice. -Ahi Tuna Nachos: great! Generous portion of fresh tuna poke & extremely flavorful. -Chicken Nachos: okay, I wish they remained warm longer. -Mini Birria Tacos: tasty, juicy & full of flavor, only thing is that they're mini mini. -Elote Bites: okay, the corn wasn't as soft as a regular street corn elotes. -Empanaditas: decent, good if you like picadillo. My only complaint is the service. I ran out of water 3x! Had to ask for a refill each time, I felt annoying. Thankfully the staff were friendly. The place wasn't busy the times I've gone (during the week), the staff just need to be a little bit more attentive. Great ambiance, perfect for a hang out or even date night. I love the interior, cozy lighting & good Latin music. Food: 8/10 Service: 6/10 Ambiance: 9/10 Overall: 8/10 read more

Bartop service only**** Service isn't very good but drinks are. Most of the staff is young and can't seem to keep up with service even when its kind of dead. Last time I was there the bartender was talking to staff and ignoring everyone on the other side of the bar. One time I had a bartender hustling an Oikos protein shake and half a burrito for meal prep at $15...I respect the hustle but it was just weird...and overpriced lol. This last time I just left without ever getting served. I wouldn't recommend it here. read more

First time dining here, and I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The greeters were very welcoming, and the atmosphere was elegant, luxurious, and inviting. Our waiter, Julian, provided exceptional service and made the experience even better. The chips and salsa were delicious, and the aguachile was absolutely amazing fresh, flavorful, and one of my favorite dishes of the meal. The portions were just right not too much and not too little. The food came out surprisingly fast, especially considering the quality. I ordered the filet mignon, and it was cooked to perfection and very tender, flavorful, and easily one of the best steaks I've had. My husband ordered the ribeye steak and was very impressed with the flavor and tenderness. The drinks were also excellent and complemented the meal perfectly. I highly recommend giving this place a try. It is on the pricier side, but you truly get what you pay for. You can't put a price on quality, and this restaurant definitely delivers. read more

Wow, sad to say this was the worst buffet experience of my life. Upon walking in there was literally almost no food at all. No plates either, I had to ask for some. No food in the kids section, no dessert, and majority of the dishes were missing. They said they ran out of tacos at around 1 PM when the buffet started at 11 AM. There were no plates for the Menudo and when I asked for some, they said they were gonna get some, that took a long time. When I got the bowls, I then had to ask for spoons which then again they said the same thing and, that took a long time. There was only one worker bring stuff out which is crazy because there were so many people waiting. We were the third family to leave that I saw. Unfortunate because we were excited about this place. read more

They are having an R&B event today and we've been here over 40 min and not one waiter has taken our order. We literally had to flag someone for menus. The vibe in the place is hip and cool, but if you're here for anything other than drinking plan your time in some other place. read more

Food was pretty decent. The place is very pretty, service was also decent. I took my parents out because they had been wanting to go for a while however, I'd say it's not much of a family friendly restaurant, it's very loud in there. We thought it was funny because our waiter could not even hear us either haha, so much that we told him we were ready for o order and he left and came back later. It's worth checking it out if you're in a party mood for the ambiance rather than the food itself. read more

Okay, this place was such a nice surprise for one the ambiance and two the delicious food! We got there before the dinner rush and got seated quick. Service was very kind and friendly, and accommodating because we had my baby with us. I heard they have live music here and i was hesitant that would be too much for my baby, but thankfully we were early enough so no live loud music. Food was DELICIOUS!! I understand the hype of this place, i just dont like thats its in mall... thats a bust but for this place i will come again. Everything we ate was delicious, no problems. read more

We stopped in on Sunday for an early dinner and had about a 15 minute wait while they set up tables. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was very, very good. The ribeye vampiro tacos were some of the best tacos I've had in a long time. The salsa that came with it was very smokey and a bit too spicy for my taste, but my husband loved it on his Arrachera steak. We were both very happy with our entrees, and with the Chicharron de pork belly appetizer. The decor was very nicely done, and my only issue with the ambiance was the volume of the music was a bit loud for my old ass. Overall I would recommend this spot for the food and a night out with friends, but maybe not for a place to have a conversation over dinner. read more

My sister and our girls were shopping at the mall and decided to eat there. My sister has been there several times and this was my first time there. It was definitely a cute restaurant and had a romantic atmosphere. We asked to split our check before ordering and we were told we couldn't (our party was small two adults, two children and an infant) so we didn't understand why not. We placed our order and the tacos and salsa were definitely delicious and a good size for taco Tuesday and good flavor. I ordered chicken tacos. What I didn't like was the server (Esmeralda A) continuously kept speaking to us in Spanish just because we were Hispanic when we kept speaking English. From our table, only my sister was fluent in Spanish. When I would respond in English, she would give me a look like she didn't like me speaking English, which was upsetting. To top it off, we asked another server about splitting the check and he said we could. When we let Esmeralda know she was extremely argumentative and wanted us to pointe out which server told us, which was very unprofessional! The check was also wrong so we let her know and she became agitated and argumentative stating we were wrong. We had to simplify what 3 plus 2 equaled and then she understood and changed the receipt after arguing and asking the person who brought out the food how many he brought out, he ensured her we were correct. We spoke to the supervisor about our concern and she was dismissive at first but told us to ask for her later on. The food was amazing but the service was extremely horrible... almost the worst I've encountered! read more

Recently went with my family to brunch and the service was bad. It took forever for the food to come out. We were pretty much the only people in the restaurant. We went on a Saturdays when they first open. Not sure if they were not prepare or what. Honestly we got the WORST service possible. They took over 20 mins to get our drink orders and then another 15 to bring them out. We paid $20 each for our drinks and it didn't come with the cucumber or pineapple... My Caesar salad had DAY OLD/ stale croutons. The smash burger was good, I'd go back for that and the fries were well seasoned. The birria tacos were okay. read more

Literally the worse brunch ever. No food no one serving bottomless mimosas. Never come here

A pleasant surprise! Went here for Sunday brunch with some friends and I had a great time. There's enough variety in the brunch, chilaquiles, tacos, omelette station, rice, beans, potatoes, meat, veggies, etc. I, especially, loved the sweets sections. The fresh waffles with berries and whipped cream and flan were delicious! The price is fair and it's a lovely place! The interior is beautiful. We had great service, they checked in often and refilled the bottomless mimosas. We came here for my son's birthday and we were a party of 10. The transformation inside the restaurant was impressive and you almost forget it's attached to the mall. Our server was great, he was very attentive and helped with anything we needed. The food was nothing spectacular. It came out like mediocre and warm. The presentation was nice, the rice and beans were actually the table favorite. We ordered a variety of items including the birria tacos, the Diablo shrimp, a grilled chicken ceasar salad, the enchilada trio, enchiladas suizas, a steak burrito and the ribeye steak dinner. The chicken ceasar salad, and the ribeye was the best of the dinners, as well as the steak burrito. A few ordered the birria tacos and no one liked them. All of enchilada plates were luke warm which is always a disappointment. We may try again but I feel like at the price point we should at least be served warm food. With no alcohol, no appetizers and no desserts our meal was around $400 with the tip. I don't mind this price point I just wish everyone was happier with their meals. But i will be back. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite and a cocktail while we were doing some Christmas shopping and was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't know what "authentic" Mexican food is if I fell in a vat of carne asada, but I do know delicious. We split the street taco sampler and it was *chef's kiss*. The staff all looked so dapper, really playing up the elevated look of the interior. My only criticism is that it felt a little out of place--unless they're going to renovate the whole mall, it just seemed a little too fancy for that trainwreck of a shopping center. read more

We visited Ay Mi Pa late on a Friday night around 11:30 PM. The place was nice and not busy at all, but the service was extremely disappointing. My cousin, my sister, and I tried multiple times to get the bartender's attention at the bar, but we were completely ignored. After several attempts, we decided to sit at a table hoping a server would come by, but even then, the server walked right past us to serve the table next to us without acknowledging us. My sister was still at the bar trying to order a drink, but after waiting so long and being ignored, I told her to forget it and that we would go somewhere else. It's frustrating that three women were unable to get a simple drink in a quiet bar on a Friday night. This was the worst service we have ever experienced, and we will not be returning. If you value good service, I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I went there last night and the food was really good, and so we're the drinks. The atmosphere was fun and posh. The service was average, but a lot of effort was put in. We were checked on regularly. Food and drinks came out quickly. Over all it was a good experience and would go back. The one thing I did not like was that little stones were in one of my drinks. I can imagine that some of the sand from their drink Beach Please, got stuck to other things. When they serve that drink it is supposed to be served in a sandbox. Well, you know how sand is, it gets in everything. Maybe...it might be a good idea...possibly...stop serving that drink in a sandbox. It was a cute idea. read more

Aye Mi Pa is outstanding! Service and quality of food is amazing. Our server Victor was phenomenal with every recommendation and service provided. We walked in, having wanted to visit the location since they opened because the aesthetic and vibe of the restaurant is superb. The plants, drift wood accents, multiple viewing screens, and even the DJ booth area with seating was such a cool vibe, I almost feel some FOMO for not being present when the place is jumping with music, but luckily my meal absolutely transported me to paradise. My wife and I split the Filet Mignon Wet burrito and Ceviche Covered Oysters. Let me start by saying I had trepidation when it came to splitting a burrito, as I can eat my fair share of any meal, large or small. However, even without rice and beans on the side, and just the burrito, splitting the meal was a great option. The burrito was very filling and deliciously prepared. The ceviche covered oysters though were the highlight of our meal. I had never had my oysters prepared in such a manner, and now, I don't know if I can ever go back to regular oysters not smothered in delectably prepared and fresh ceviche. *Chef's Kiss* As for the drinks, I ordered a simple draft beer, but my wife ordered a Margarita and now she has turned in to Jimmy Buffet, vowing to only have margaritas from Ay Mi Pa, as having a drink anywhere else is simply a form of settling. Now I will mention, prices are a little on the higher end, but the service, the vibe, the drinks, and the food are well worth a stop if you are about to begin or end your Valley Plaza Mall excursion. Salud to Victor and Ay Mi Pa for bringing some classiness and authentic delicious food to Bakersfield. Keep up the great work. read more

First of all, they did a fantastic job transforming this place from the Lucielle's bbq it used to be. The bar is cute. Seating is fun. Enjoyed the feel of the place. Our server was also pretty good, considering a lot of the reviews mentioned bad service. He did ok. Everything else? Not good at all. There were 4 of us for dinner and two of us were sick to our stomachs that night and the next day. The meat had a bit of a funny taste so we think that might have been the culprit. I get it, people come for the bar/club (?), but please don't serve bad meat. Especially when the plates are $25+ per person... The drinks were fine. Nothing great. Not horrible. Probably not the crowd I'd choose to have a double date night with again... even on a Sunday night lol. Maybe I'm just old haha but I won't choose to eat here again, unfortunately. read more
