Long waits in between ordering, receiving food, receiving check etc It was decorated lightly for Harry Potter over its regular decor which was confusing, but the waitress said the owner loved Harry Potter and it was his birthday. Can't argue with that, pop off dude. The food itself was good. I had a latte and a breakfast burrito with chile verde and fruit pancakes. The chile verde was the best part of the meal. Everything else was pretty average. I did like their extensive menu and Mexican American flavors, it was a fun touch. I'm not sure I'll be back on a weekend, not worth the hassle. My husband and I had never been to Toasted before and had no idea what to expect. I noticed the hostess's Harry Potter shirt before I noticed anything else. There's a strong Harry Potter ambiance and even a devoted menu. I love it! I ordered the monte Christo. It was so big I took half of it home for later. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito. He said it was a little spicy and that he liked it. We've been looking for a great breakfast spot and now have found it! The service was FANTASTIC. Super friendly staff who made me feel welcomed. I have been to Toasted many times. I am on the hunt for a LARGE good tasting breakfast burrito and I thought I would give them a try. Their portions on their other stuff have been good to great. The burrito was very good, but as I have found at all the places I have tried, it was small for the price. Some of the bacon pieces were almost burned. I visited with a larger group of seven people, and while the wait was longer than we would have liked, the cafe was very busy, so it was understandable. The service was fantastic. The woman who took care of our table was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. She did a great job making sure we had everything we needed despite how packed the restaurant was. I ordered the French toast, and it was really good. It had great flavor and a nice texture. I also loved that it came with eggs, bacon, and sausage--I always appreciate having plenty of protein options with breakfast. The space itself was clean, well-organized, and comfortable. Our group came here based on a friend's recommendation who loves Toasted. We arrived at 9am on a Saturday and just beat the rush to get seated right away. The place is cute and clean. I had the Chilaquiles divorciados, both sauces were good, although I preferred the green. The breakfast totchos were an interesting spin on tater tots for breakfast, they were very filling. Portion sizes were big, I definitely could have shared and still have been satisfied. J also tried their mazapan iced coffee which I was a bit hesitant on but it was actually great. I would get it again! I opted for the Mazapan coffee and I really enjoyed it, a mild flavored coffee with a nutty and creamy flavor. For breakfast I had the order of French Toast served with sausage, bacon, hash browns and scrambled eggs. The eggs were absolutely perfect. Very light and fluffy, as were the hash browns. The sausage was good, but only slightly warm which I didn't like. The bacon was good, but it was a thicker cut of bacon so it wasn't as crispy as I would've liked. I loved the French Toast! Cooked perfectly, warm and delicious. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. I wasn't prepared for how generous their portions were, so come hungry. read more

Very disappointing experience at Toasted. We arrived around 8:30 a.m. but were not seated until about 9:00 a.m. After finally being seated, we waited quite a while before anyone came to take our drink order. What made it even more frustrating was watching customers who arrived after us get served before we did. Things only got worse from there. A waitress dropped several glass drinks right behind our table, splashing our backs and sending ice cubes everywhere. Accidents happen, but what really bothered us was that there was no apology or acknowledgment. The staff simply carried on as if nothing had happened. After finally receiving our drinks, we waited about 30 minutes for our food. When it arrived, one of the burgers was not cooked correctly and had to be sent back, causing even more delays. We arrived at 8:30 a.m. and didn't leave until 10:30 a.m. Spending two hours at a breakfast restaurant would be understandable if the service and food were excellent, but that was not the case. Between the long waits, being overlooked while other tables were served first, getting splashed by dropped drinks without so much as an apology, and receiving food that wasn't cooked properly, this was a very disappointing experience. We kinda knew at that point it would be pretty good! We did have to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. We waited outside and the weather was perfect. So I invited my Neighbor to one of my favorite spots and like always the food was delicious. She ordered the waffle plate and let me tell you those waffles are not only big , crunchy and soft at the same time. I like always I enjoyed my chicken steak made to perfection. Our waiter was very patient and in taking order as we were catching up and enjoying our caramel coffee. There is plenty of sitting and it's always clean and tidy. Decided to take my parents to a different spot for breakfast/brunch. This spot reminds me of a Cafe I've been to in Pismo. The decor is simple and open and Modern. They have plenty of tv's to look at and the stafe is very friendly. Jose was our waiter and apologized for the short staff. My mom got the tri tip breakfast and said her meat was very tender and seasoned beautifully. My dad got the pork chops and said the meat was also very tender and easy to cut. Side note if you enjoy drinking coffee like I do please note they only serve half and half and no other creamer. I would say for me that was the only down fall of this restaurant. With that being said next time I come I will be bringing my own creamer from home lol. If you indulge in alcoholic drinks I seen they have a variety of options. I got the pismo tacos with fruit as my side. Needless to say I never finish my plate but I did today. Went to grab a bite to eat with my husband last Sunday and it was my first time at toasted. The first thing I noticed was a pretty good size crowd waiting outside. We got on the wait list and they called me back really fast. We waited maybe 10 minutes or so. Now my waitress was the best! Actually the entire staff was just so friendly. We never had to wait for our drinks to be refilled. She answered any questions I had regarding the menu and even gave me recommendations based on what I told her that I liked. I order breakfast tacos and my husband got a eggs with biscuits and gravy. The portion sizes were plenty! The food had great flavor. I wish more places in Bakersfield had customer service like this. Always friendly service. The wait is typical of a breakfast spot, especially on a weekend. However, we've never had more than a 10-15 minute wait. Crème Brûlée latte was delicious! Not too sweet (I don't like overly sweet coffee drinks). I have had: Huevos Rancheros Papacito Benedict Cali Benedict Machaca con Huevos Chicken fried steak All delicious. I was warned the huevos salsa roja was spicy, but it was perfect. Warm spice. Really yummy! Great atmosphere. Fun vibe, clean, friendly. Our server Jennifer was so helpful and friendly. We've never had a negative interaction with any of the staff here. This restaurant feels like local, even though it's a chain. They seem to care. This review is a bit late but it's worth mentioning. I went to Toasted with my sister on 4th of July around 11:00am. Even though the wait was understandably long to get in, we decided it would be worth a try since they were so kind to accept her certified emotional support dog Papacitio. I really appreciate that they are a dog friendly establishment "as long as they are quiet and on the smaller side" they said. They were so kind and attentive there. It was busy but clean with a nice ambiance and the food and drinks came out quickly. We started with a mimosa flight and a crème brûlée latte, all delicious and appealing to the eye. Then we shared a Greek Omelette which was a large potion, definitely enough for two and it hit the spot. Papacitio was offered a water which was really sweet. Toasted is a great place to spend time with those you love while enjoying some good food and service. You couldn't ask for much more in an establishment. This place won my heart. read more
