    Mexican Omlette (no cheese)

They just remodeled this place. Classic vintage diner that gives hearty portions... they definitely live up to that! Tried this place early on a Sunday morning. We each got an omelette and they come with choice of potatoes and toast or biscuits and gravy. I couldn't even finish my omelette. Tastes like a good diner food. Service was good. One waitress working the front until a second came when we were getting ready to leave. Clean place. Affordable compared to others! If you're looking for diner food, this is it.

A solid competitor for the best chicken fried steak in town. Portion was huge and it had good flavor. Service was great. For the price and quality it couldn't be beat.

Gross I found a roach on my plate.

Gross and poor service the women serving us was rude and didn't give us a refund not sure how the place is still in business

Though it was busy, the service was quick and the servers attended me well! The food was absolutely amazing and served well portions for the price you pay! I had got the chicken fried steak with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. The overall experience was pleasant and I would go back again!

This places is ridiculous, $2.99 for this shot of chocolate milk and no refills!!! Who charges for TOGO boxes????? Insane.

Not much has changed as far as seating and decor from the previous restaurant except maybe some paint. You're getting vintage school Sambo's building (I think) be prepared to stand and wait cus they don't have much of a waiting area. Due to the wait time we decided to sit at the counter. The staff was friendly and boy did these girls have their hustle on. We didn't have to wait long to place our order but it did take long to get our order. The place isn't very big, it maybe seats 75 - 80 people. Well we all have our likes and dislikes when it comes to food. If you like food the way your sister cooks it when mom tells her to make your brothers and sisters something to eat, you'll like this place. If you like a lot of food and inexpensive prices, you'll like this place. The food isn't anything fancy, just comfy. It reminds me of sitting on the couch in my pajamas eating a bowl of cereal.

Food was ok. The bathrooms were a little dirty and smelly. I wished my potatoes were crispier. The French toast was good but I didn't care for my sausage.

    My half eaten meal.

Service was good. I ordered hamburger steak , scrambled eggs with cheddar on top, country potatoes, biscuits with gravy, two strips of bacon. The bacon was a thick but wasn't crispy like I like. The potatoes were fried in oil and served glistening in oil. Too much oil. The eggs needed salt and I suspected were also fried in the same oil, not butter which would have added more needed flavor. The hamburger patty was undercooked and also needed salt. The biscuits and gravy had a sweetness to them. It was the biscuit Too sweet for me and the cream gravy had way too much black pepper. The gravy was too thin and didn't have that richness of milk butter flavor that I'm used too. Rarely do I not eat the biscuits and gravy but I left 3/4 of it on my plate. Coffee was good. Overall a below average breakfast meal. I left half of it on the plate. The decor was nice with the natural wood and browns. Overall a mediocre to below average experience. This place has so much potential, these people really should step up their game in regards to food taste and quality. For the price of about $23 dollars I could have had a much better breakfast elsewhere. I will not return.

Service was fast, staff was pleasant so everything was fantastic! So far, food has been good and I definitely will come back. It's way on the other side of town for me, but it's nice seeing lots of brunch options in Bakersfield these days. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal of the day, so it's nice to know I have another option. There's lots of parking which is a plus, the other places struggle with parking which makes it hard to visit. Restaurant looks clean, it looks family oriented and they have tons of options for the family. They have tons of tables too, so there's room for everyone. The place stays busy so you know the food is fresh and they keep your coffee cup filled. I'm not sure how long this has been here since I barely visited last year, but if you haven't stopped by you definitely need to check it out.

MAN'S BEST FRIEND Omelette $18.59 sausage, bacon, ham, cheddar & monterey jack cheese. I added diced onions. I ordered the hash brown option and pancake. Per their website, one of their specialties are the "fluffy pancakes". Omelette had decent amounts of diced ham, sausage and bacon. I found this to be an omelette large enough to share. Hash browns were standard. Pancake was okay but nothing truly spectacular, just average in taste. The pancake was oversized enough to share. Overall I gave this a 8/10 2. PAUL BUNYAN $21.99, two eggs, two bacon, two sausage, a 1/2 pound ham. Ordered with country potatoes and Rye toast. The bacon was amazing!! Thick cut bacon and cooked to perfection. Overall the breakfast was your standard breakfast and definitely large enough to share. 8/10 Restaurant was clean, tables were cleaned off as soon as customers left. And restrooms were clean and fully stocked. Plenty of free parking. Waitstaff were friendly and efficient. The ambiance is pretty laid back. They also have an ice cream bar with 26 gourmet ice cream flavors.

The GRUB : They have a good southern menu and they have very attentive staff today we got the" Surf and Cluckers" Meal w/catfish, chicken thigh, chicken breast, 5 shrimp, sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese and black eyed peas and Cornbread... and I loved every bit of it the catfish 5/5 stars was tasty well cooked and seasoned just right the chicken breast was filleted (too thin for my liking) 4/5 stars, cooked in a very good batter along with the chicken thigh 5/5 stars the five shrimp 5/5 stars were not jumbo shrimp but we're good enough to satisfy and tasted the same way the catfish tasted in the cornmeal batter, the sweet potatoes were very good and I was surprised at how well they tasted the 5/5 stars Black Eyed Peas where soft and well seasoned 5/5 stars, cornbread was good but colder than I would have liked as it didn't melt the butter 3/5 stars while the macaroni and cheese was nothing to rave about 2/5 stars., honestly for the price it was about as much food as I would have eaten if I went to Hodels for about the same total price for 2 people, however if I had this meal anywhere else outside of Bakersfield it would have cost me approximately twice as much..Great deal for the price. Quick review of Mom's house and I was not disappointed. GIVE THEM A TRY , I've been hesitant on going here since the original owner passed away and it was renamed Mom's House, so my friend who is a sunday regular, offered to buy my lunch here, so what the heck why not just go glad we went ,well try to take the family one day.

A little on the hard side. I almost felt like they had pre-made it and then fried it again. All the batter broke right off. Bummer. The sides were good. Mac and cheese was great tasting, the hash brown casserole again was great tasting, although it did not look very appetizing. And the mashed potatoes and gravy were good. I did wanna mention ,the brown gravy did have a smokiness to it. it may be more of an acquired taste for some. My wife ordered the campfire beef meal, which, according to the menu was only available for a limited at a time. The flavor on it was great, the portion size was a little bit disappointing.
