Saw this restaurant on Yelp, decided to come here one morning. Truly loved their dedication and support of our armed forces, offering a free cup of coffee and having photos who have served on their wall. Waitress was friendly and offered great customer service. Restroom was kept well maintained. Chilaquiles and their beans were amazing! Their potatoes and biscuits and gravy, not so much. Biscuits were really hard and stiff, and their potatoes needed a little more flavor. Overall, it was good; I'll have to go back and try other food items.

I was really excited to try this place for first time. It's a good size dining room with counter to sit singles. Hostess is pleasant and welcoming. Went for breakfast around 11, but started getting busy around noon (on Sunday). Nice ambiance, country music playing throughout the restaurant. Waitress was a little hard to understand, she had an accent and the music was drowning her out. I love creme brulee and they offered that style of pancakes which I never tried before. I asked specific questions to how the pancakes were made with creme brulee, I was very descriptive to ask about the brulee part because that's my fav part, waitress assured me it was prepared as I described. The pancakes came not as described! It was just a thick layer of a creamy substance that just made the pancakes mushy (yuck) and IF they brulee it, it did not taste brulee at all. There was no hard sugar coating anywhere on or around the pancakes. Super disappointing. I still tried to eat it giving best effort, especially the dishes are on the higher side. The other plate ordered was sunrise enchiladas, scale 1-10 was a 3. Another odd thing that we experienced was the busser (man not boy) had strange humor. We asked for a box for the leftovers and he first said they didn't have any but then brought and actual shipping box. Which was ridiculous to think that would be suitable, and then pulled out of the large box the smaller Togo box. I'm usually enjoy humor, but this was a first and just off setting. We didn't know him that way to be joking with us like that... that experience just put icing on cake to think twice before returning.

the food was delicious, I ate all of it and i don't think I could eat neatly for the next couple days. The service was nice, our waiter was real good at conversation over my meal and accommodated to us and our neighbors around. The ambiance was awesome, there were tons of murals for our veterans and honoring for the miracles that built together to form our great nation. Thank you Maggie's Sunrise Cafe, I will be returning. This was a comforting experience and felt genuine and specialized.

Well I think I found my favorite little place in Bakersfield!!!! Amazing service 10/10

    Ham and eggs.

Had a delicious breakfast at the new location for this restaurant. Everything was fresh and the food was good. Service was great. Interior is clean and updated. Check out the extra touches in the mother friendly bathrooms. We will return for sure.

Recently felt up to trying a new spot for breakfast and saw Maggie's is a newer well reviewed restaurant. We went semi late (I usually like to go early early) around 9-9:30 and it was very empty and honestly after eating there I am shocked. The food and the service were phenomenal. Though it's a tad smaller than most breakfast spots it had a very nice decor and I really liked the layout and seating. We were greeted by very friendly and attentive staff and the food were delicious. The mini conchas come as a starter and they were so good and fresh I almost wanted to order more just to go it went amazing with the really good coffee. The pancakes were amazing even covered in all the extras were stars of the plate. I got the combo and the potatoes and Eggs were so good. It's safe to say this place is amazing and I hope to come back and support. After just one visit, I can honestly say I wouldn't be surprised if there's a line out the door next time the food was so good!

The second was almond butter and banana with cocoa nibs, honey, and cinnamon. The third was Nutella and hazelnuts topped with strawberries and coconut flakes. They were all delicious, but my favorite was definitely the Nutella and hazelnut toast. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the variety made it fun to share and try different combinations. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is a cute cafe vibe. You place order at the counter and someone brings your order to your table. Smitten is definitely a must-visit spot when downtown for breakfast.

SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.

It took a while to be approached by the staff and then luckily seated quickly because a table was miraculously open. But after that we rarely saw our waitress. Long waits in between ordering, receiving food, receiving check etc It was decorated lightly for Harry Potter over its regular decor which was confusing, but the waitress said the owner loved Harry Potter and it was his birthday. Can't argue with that, pop off dude. The food itself was good. I had a latte and a breakfast burrito with chile verde and fruit pancakes. The chile verde was the best part of the meal. Everything else was pretty average and typical for breakfast food. I did like their extensive menu and Mexican American flavors, it was a fun touch. I'm not sure I'll be back on a weekend, not worth the hassle. Would try on a weekday
