THE GRUB: The Cuban coffee is outstanding, and the Vietnamese iced coffee is one of the best around, actually its the only one around. If im clueless let me in on the Vietnamese coffe you know of...anyhoo If you're looking for a caffeine kick, the cold canned Vietnamese coffee will give you a jolt you wouldn't believe. Food-wise, the Peruvian grilled cheese sandwich was flavorful and well made, but I'd recommend asking for the sauce on the side unless you enjoy a messy sandwich. The ham and cheese croffel had great flavor, but it was a little light on the ham and cheese. I think the cropples are better suited in the sweet variety as they seem small incompressants to a ham and cheese croissant someone would purchase for about half that price. In my opinion, it was more of a kid's snack than a meal and not quite worth the price, if you're actually hungry I would go with something else off the menu. Everything was made fresh , you must be patient here , perfection can be slower than your metabolism, so dont go there hangry. During my visit, Hector explained that he envisions Uncharted Adventures as a gathering place for the community. The business frequently hosts weekend vendor markets and local running clubs. Hector also shared he was creating a dedicated Memorial Day wall honoring local veterans, first responders, and teachers, while also working on an outdoor eating area. It's always great to see a Hector and Chris, and the new Adventures they take on. This is one of the few coffee shops in Bako worth checking out, whether you're stopping in for a coffee, a bite to eat, or a community events theyre hosting give em a visit an introduce yourself. You can thank me later. .Overall I would give everything a four and a half Stars but since Yelp doesn't do half Stars I'll give them a five out of five stars. My girlfriend and I came in to for a quick drink and ordered an iced Cafe De Churro. Unfortunately, we waited 25 minutes just for one drink. I also noticed one of the baristas had really long nails, which seemed to make it difficult for her to prepare drinks efficiently. The drink was subpar - overall not worth waiting for. read more

I really wish my experience would have been better. I went in looking to purchase canned Vietnamese Coffee but they didn't have any nor did they offer to put some together. She did offer for me to purchase an iced Vietnamese coffee but that's not what I wanted. I wanted the convenience of purchasing the canned coffee so I could enjoy later in the week. I decided to try their Berry Matcha $8.66 for about 12oz. The price point is definitely higher than Starbucks for 20oz Triple Berry Matcha. The matcha was way too sweet and the strawberry foam was pretty watery. I would not order this again. And unfortunately I had to toss it after a couple of sips bc of the sweetness. If overly sweet matcha with watery cold foam is your thing, then you will love it. Would have been nice if I had been asked about my preferred level of sweetness. The gal who helped me was not friendly and conversation was forced when I asked menu questions. So disappointed bc I literally went out of my way just for this place. Great stop on a long drive. Got two lattes and they were both good. The BISCOFF latte was great and not too sweet with a cookie on top. I questioned the soft cookie texture but once mixed it the hints of Biscoff were quite good. Milk options include WHOLE and OAT which was a bit limited. The bathroom is quite fancy and clean. I love the coffee but I don't understand their bar method. The past two times they leave my drinks on the counter like this the girl just left her shift mid drink and didn't finish them? I'm genuinely so confused. Last time there was flies!!!! And my drinks were left unattended. I've worked in coffee shops before so understand if maybe they're waiting for shots but there's no reason they should be walking away form the drinks especially with the big window they have they're more prone to flies. Stopped in for a quick breakfast during the week. Vanessa greeted me with a polite smile. The place wasn't packed so seating was available. I ordered a cold brew and croffle. The coffee was really good, I did add sweeteners because the cold brews are not sweet. But the sweet croffle was PERFECT. The bread was nice and soft, the almonds added a nice crunch to the texture and the honey complimented the jalapeño cream that was the topping. Definitely a 10 out of 10. As I was leaving the owner greeted me and we had a nice conversation regarding the companies new direction. I wish the entire team so much success. Such a great event! I had an amazing time seeing familiar faces, sharing and listening to stories and tasting some great coffee with my Elite Peeps! I recently attended a Yelp elite event here, and wanted to get return to give it a regular review. I stopped by for lunch and enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with a strawberry lemonade. The service here is great. The people are pleasant and helpful. It's a cozy space with not many chairs and tables. However, people are friendly and adjust to the number of people in the room. The sandwich is delicious. I'm just not sure how to eat it without making a mess. They dribble a delicious barbecue sauce on the sourdough. It was really good though. It was a little late in the day for a coffee so I opted for the strawberry lemonade, which was delicious. If you're anywhere near 19th and Q St., downtown Bakersfield, you really have to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

Came here this morning because my niece loves matcha and wanted to take her to try a new spot. From the street this place was hard to find - it's because their front window was boarded up due to a break in which was sad to hear. They do have some outdoor seating on the sidewalk which is nice. The owner who we met said they are working on backyard seating which will be really nice when complete. We ordered two lattes, 2 breakfast items and got two cookies to go and that was $56 after tip. Which is on par for almost all coffee shops across SoCal. The inside is small but very cute and fun decor. They have merch and lots of plants. The menus are hard to find/see and it's a little confusing when you walk in as to where to order. The lattes - my niece really liked her horchata matcha latte. My biscoff latte was very cookie forward not much coffee flavor - and the ice melted way too fast which made it not as refreshing. If you like sweet drinks it's great. I wasn't surprised - it's cookie butter laced! Just hoped for a little stronger coffee. I also noticed the cups are very thin which may be why the ice melted so fast and also why it was hard to hold without the lid leaking a bit. Now the food - the eggs were cooked to PERFECTION and I am picky. Really Picky. They were runny but not slimy iykyk. The croissant was flaky and butters, cheese was melted. The only downfall was the turkey - it was SO DRY. I would have 5 starred a cheese and egg version. The maple pecan croffle was interesting. The croffle part was dense - very chewy. The flavor was good but the texture threw me a bit especially since the croissant on the sandwich was so amazing. The topping on the croffle was also not what I expected. Was it a butter cream cheese sugary mixture? I think so. It was good in very small amounts but they put ALOT on top. The best part was the toasted pecans in the syrup under the dish. Niece liked the cookies! Overall staff were friendly and the spot is newer so I think they are getting things down. They are also operating after a break in which I'm sure isn't fun. read more

Situated in downtown Bakersfield, Uncharted Adventures Cafe is what one thinks of when it comes to establishing oneself as a community staple. UAC has a cafe on the bottom and a private event space on the top floor. What I really enjoyed was their full menu featuring so many unique drinks and they had their own lineup of cold brew flavors. I never leave reviews. Last review I left was probably 5+ years ago. First and last time coming here. 2 tiny coffees + 1 cookie = $30. I'm cool off that. I can get more for less many other places. Kept looking at the "Jesus paid for it all" jacket on the wall wishing he'd come down and help me pay for this $6 cookie Also coffee was MID. It's sad that businesses as beloved as rio açaí have to close when places like this get to stay open. We as a community should be able to offer up places like this as tribute to keep other worthwhile businesses open. We could easily get rid of like 5-10+ of these same low quality coffee extortion rings and still have plenty of coffee shops to choose from. Maybe if places like this weren't so predatory with their prices people wouldn't go to corpo establishments like stabucks to get coffee but tbh I can't blame them. I could've gotten 3x the amount of coffee, at a higher quality for less the prices. Make it make sense. read more

The menu is pretty straight-forward with a good variety of options. Additionally, the place is clean and organized. What we got: Ube croffle - it was perfect! My wife and I love Uncharted Adventures. We shared the Tinga Su Grilled Cheese and a Berry Matcha. Tenga grilled cheese was delicious and so was the matcha. Portions were good, as we were able to share the sandwich and both us were satisfied. They also had homemade cookies. The cookie was just right, not too sweet. They recently have opened their beautiful back patio to sit and eat. The service is great as well. We'll be back to try more pastries and sandwiches. read more

Adventure Awaits was a first time experience for us. I had heard multiple people from work recommending this place and saying they had one of the strongest coffees around. We went on New Year's Day and it was surprising how many people were still there. Very quaint and small place but they'll get you in and out with your order. Very welcoming and very helpful to describe what each thing is. They'll also offer recommendations based on your preferences. The wife likes a little on the sweeter side and I like a stronger and not as sweet. I would say the coffees were perfect and mine was so strong I just sipped it for the next few hours. Definitely some bang for your buck. When it comes to their food items theirs some pros and cons. I would say it is all prepared wonderfully but unwound have to say the Croffle needs to be cooked a tad bit longer and they're more for if you have a sweeter tooth. My boys had it, to go with their drinks and they were even saying with the butter and toppings it was a little too much. To each their own though because the wife's toast, with berries and whatever else was on it was delicious and my Cuban (yes my Cuban for breakfast) was perfectly made. Overall, Adventure Awaits is nice, quaint, very clean, the service is great and very speedy and the drinks and food are great. Went in to try the Vietnamese coffee and the Peruvian cheese melt. The Vietnamese coffee was good, but definitely on the sweeter side. I personally prefer a stronger coffee flavor, and it tasted like there was a bit too much condensed milk for my liking. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, so I wasn't able to finish it. The Peruvian cheese melt was also good. The bread was very tasty and perfectly crispy. The sauce was a little different from the green sauce I'm used to at traditional Peruvian restaurants, but still enjoyable. I really love that this restaurant is Hispanic-owned, as you don't come across that very often, and I appreciate supporting local businesses. read more

We stopped by to try the delights of this sweet cafe. I have heard so much about it that I wanted to come and visit. My son ordered a watermelon Italian soda with strawberry cold foam and I got an iced chai. Both drinks were delicious. The staff are all very sweet and happy to accommodate any add ons one may want on their drink. The inside of the cafe is very cozy. We enjoyed our drinks and our time inside the cafe. First time coming and wow! A hidden gem in downtown Bakersfield for sure. It's a small cafe hidden within the streets. Walking in, we were greeted. I had the experience to meet the past owner since he gave it up to his son! Sweetest cool guy. The backstory to himself and the cafe is cool to hear. His energy really makes the place unique. Since I came for Yelp, I got honored to get a free drink and cool keychain. Their cold brew is top tier, and it really gave me full on energy. Came here for the first time last week and I frequent another local coffee shop in town for Matcha but this Matcha was my absolute favorite. I got the berry Matcha and honestly after I finished it and went home, I was still thinking about it. The café is small but perfect place to catch up with a friend, not the best place if you have little ones because there is not much room for them to roam which is understandable not a playground but I take my daughter everywhere and it's easier to stay somewhere if there's an area for her to walk around while drinking coffee and enjoying the place. Great way to start the day. I ordered a delicious Peruvian grilled cheese accompanied by a abuelita coffee. My wife got the biscoff croffle with a churro coffee. She loved it. Her first drink was supposed to be a cafe de olla but I think they confused it for something else. However, this experience was great and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The ambience is lively, we came on a Saturday morning and they were pretty busy! The inside is decorated with a vibe of grey barnyard and hot air balloons. Unfortunately we were not greeted when we walked in and they took a bit to take our order, but i guess it's expected on a busy morning. We did not wait too long, our coffee was called first before the food. You do need to get your lid/ utensils and straw yourself, but it is easily accessible where you pick up your items. Both coffee drinks and the jalapeño croffle were delicious! However, the quest toast was very bland and did not come with corn as it's listed on the menu. I personally do not recommend it. This is easily my favorite local coffee gem. Every new drink I try is a hit. The turmeric hot drink is incredibly rich and earthy. It is perfect if you want something comforting and flavorful. I also tried the ube coffee and the nutty, vanilla-like sweetness of the purple yam pairs perfectly with their espresso. Finally brought the hubby to try this place out and he loved it! We wanted to try out a few food items so we got the turkey and cheese croissant sandwich, the ham and cheese croissant sandwich, the turkey and cheese croffle and the ham and cheese croffle. Love exploring and discovering new coffee shops. Found this gem while in town to work the Bakersfield Marathon. They packed all the cute coffee inspired signage and artwork into this cute little shop, but still managed to keep it from feeling like too tight of a space. The swing tucked away near the restroom was a nice touch and photo opp. Things we ordered: - Cafe con leche (hot, just the right amount of sweetness) - Vietnamese coffee (iced, packed with caffeine. IYKYK) - Guava Croffle (guava cream cheese spread and syrup for a tons of sweet. A little too sweet for me but the croffle was light and crunchy. Came here for a Yelp event and it was such a great experience, I came the very next day since it was close to work. I had to order the Ham & Cheese Croffle. It was nice and crispy, topped with Jalapeño cream cheese and hot honey. The Matcha Latte was so delicious and by far, beats any other coffee shop in the nearby vicinity. There was a dried rose petal dust on top that added an extra floral note. The assistant manager was there and was very welcoming and polite. Will come back here again for sure! read more
