Uh oh. This is my third time at happy tea within a week. Maybe a habit is forming...? LOL this time I tried the smoky milk tea, and it was pretty good. It is made with a smoked Wong tea and it taste a little like the green teas that you get at Japanese restaurants. It is a milk tea, so it automatically comes with the milk and Boba and I had it. 75% sweet. I added the cheese, cold foam to it, which was very delicious. However, when you are finished with the tea and all you have left are the Boba, and the ice cubes, the cheese is very thick and well, it is good. Ordered the mango drink with tajin and chamoy did not have mongo chunks on it like the picture. Also ordered matcha latte and it was not layered as the photo showed. When asked about the mango chunks they said they were still frozen. Would have appreciated being told beforehand that they didn't have all ingredients ready. So far my husband and I have tried the strawberry matcha(75% sweetened) it didn't have a strong matcha taste, it was subtle mainly tasted the strawberry. Golden peach, very berry, and mango bilini(all 25%) they all tasted good and would order again. We don't like super sweet stuff so we lowered the level and they were perfect for us that way. My favorite is the herbal jelly winter berry(25-50%) it has a unique taste that I haven't had before. The inside is decor is nice and they have tvs playing while you're waiting for the drinks. I've never really had a problem with Happy Tea before today. The only thing is is a few months ago. They had issues with their loyalty program and I really don't know if they got it up and working yet. Today a friend and I went into Happy Tea and I always get their smoothies. I asked the girl what was in the strawberry banana smoothie besides strawberries and bananas. She said it was strawberry syrup, strawberry juice, bananas, and some sugar. I received my drink and I could tell it had dairy in it. I took it back and asked them what was in it and they said half-and-half. I told them that I was lactose and intolerant and I want almond milk instead. They threw the one away with half and half and made me one with almond milk and expected me to pay for it again. I feel it wasn't my mistake because I did ask her what was in that smoothie and there was no mention of half-and-half. I refused he paid for it again and they ended up throwing both of them away and I was -$6.50. Not very good customer service. I guess nowadays you have to be very very specific with these young kids and let them know what you expect and don't expect. read more

Well unfortunately my partner and I went back for another try and weren't able to we arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 7:05p.m. when the establishment's website, yelp, google, and sign hanging in the door say 8p.m. We were met with a very rude male employee mopping the floors on the other side of the locked glass door yelling at us as we tried the door "we're closed!" Then proceeded to throw both his arms up in a X motion, I proceeded to ask why they were closed an hour early he ignored us. I've tried the boba shop before and had similar experiences with their staff being rude and also forgetting to make one of our drinks on the last visit after waiting 15 minutes before they would remake the missing drink. It's so unfortunate that there are not great options for businesses in east Bakersfield that can provide friendly service, the drinks are decent but I will definitely not be taking my business there again it's hard to excuse bad customer service time and time again. read more
