What a ol country cowboy atmosphere, with good country music playing in the background. You sit yourself and waitress takes your order food comes out at a good time not a long wait. I ordered the oildale special and I have to say it was quite a treat. A country biscuit and gravy really surprised me with the flavors gobbled it down. And the homemade salsa was bussin on the eggs. Such a little gem in Oildale! The atmosphere is cozy and eclectic. This is defiantly a locally owned business. Family owned and operated you can't get this kind of charming in a chain owned restaurant. The waitress are sassy and personable. The food is top notch ! Calling them affordable is an understatement. I had prime rib and eggs for $11.00. This family knows what they are doing and it shows. I have been here five times in the past two weeks and have not been disappointed by anything. This is an old school diner. If you are looking for trendy avocado toasty breakfasts this is not your kind of place. Had breakfast there on Sunday and I was very satisfied with the food. Delicious! And the prices were so affordable. Husband said we need to make sure we go there at least once a month. This is one of the best little diners in Bakersfield hands down. If you have not tried Ol West Cafe yet I highly recommend you check them out. My husband and I have been a few times now and every time has been outstanding! They make the best omelets and biscuits and gravy I've ever had! There salsa is fresh! And the service is outstanding. The cook comes out and talks to the regulars and the waitresses are sweet and polite! Some of the best service I've ever had. We will be accompanying the regular customers here. read more

The food was good. The server was on the loud and obnoxious side which really bugged me. I guess I was hungry and moody, but after I had eaten she had not gotten any quieter. I don't think I will be back based on that alone. It's a shame because their food deserved another chance. read more

This little place tucked away is great. Homemade yummy comfort food and the staff is very friendly.

Called ahead for pickup.. Canceled me and my girlfriend order when all we said is that we wanted to cancel one item(not the entire order) and left waiting for 30 minutes inside when came to pick it up. Staff didn't talk to us except when we said we were there to pick up and cancel one item. Many other customers were helped during those 30 minutes and only one waitress was wearing a mask but was under her chin which does nothing. Everyone else you could see wasn't wearing any. They have indoor dining which is banned right now in kern County as of writing this. It also smelled like old mold and wood chips. Girlfriend was so pissed she called the health department. Went down the street to zorbos burger and they all had masks and were quick to get us good food. read more

Wow I cannot believe no one has reviewed this place yet! Martin the cook is awesome! I love his meatloaf, meatballs, fries, fish and chips, BBQ country ribs, fried potatoes, and the Basque set up, just about everything! They have a wide range of different food (breakfast served all day) and their Daily Specials are the way to go (usually under $10)! The food is all homemade and so delish! My lunch buddy and I try to go weekly to this place. The prices are awesome! This is a smaller place inside with a homey country decor. This place is like Cheers, they know their customers names and I have seen some customers come in for breakfast and lunch! We went on a Wednesday for lunch and I had the Basque set up with pork chops. Not everything you get at a Basque restaurant but the soup, beans and salad were very good. Those are my favorite things anyway so it was perfect. It came with 2 chops and they were very juicy and flavorful. My friend had the carne asada and it was delicious as well and came with rice, beans and a tortilla. We both had enough to take home for dinner. It was a great value and the service was excellent. Eaten there many times it's a great place too take your family or a great place too go to be alone or have a group meeting or a well you can do pretty much anything as long as you keep your clothing on lol. I have gone here many times over the past few years and I love it. Great food and unbelievable prices. Cheapest place you can go in Bakersfield for a good meal. Me and my wife end up getting breakfast and walk out with a bill of $12. 3 stack pancake and a breakfast scramble (oildale scramble) with sides and it's that cheap.
