The person that took my order was very friendly and asked how long it would take me to arrive. I opted to pick up via drive thru so I didn't get to see the inside. The drive thru wait was minimal as there was a car in front of me. Unfortunately, the smoothies weren't the best. The flavor was lackluster and could barely taste any avocado flavor. The texture was more icy than creamy. The sweetness level was also below average. It also seems like they use ice/water? I didn't get any of the creaminess that I expected. The staff were generally okay, except for a short, chubby dude who was chewing gum and coughing into his hand before making our drinks. When I asked him to wash his hands, he responded with attitude. No thanks. I ordered an almond milk tea with soy milk and boba and custard pudding. When my drank came out, there was only custard pudding... I also asked if they would not put any extra sweetener. Just make the drink and that's it so 0% sweetness... she says, so regular? At that point I was done. Decided to do an in store walk-in for a boba order and I could not believe how hot it is inside this place!! It felt like walking into a sauna from how hot and humid it was inside. I feel so bad for the workers who constantly have to rush doing these orders. Does management not know how to run a store during the heat for their employees? You run a business and it should be ran ethically. Other than that, the Thai tea I purchased from here was made to perfection. I went there on a warm day, hoping to get a refreshing drink. OMG, It was so hot inside the store that I was sweating just standing there (imagine how much the workers were sweating while doing their job) when I asked why their AC wasn't on they said they weren't allowed to touch the thermostat! I love the tea here and the variety of options they have. Im kind of obsessed with boba, and always try out as many locations as I can whenever I visit a new city. This one used to be a favorite of mine in Bakersfield. Recently though, there are much better places to go. What I love: most boba cafes don't have many nondairy or caffeine free options. That's all I can drink because my body says nope to both of those. This place has a ton of those options! They also have nondairy creamer and plant based milk options. What is mediocre: The texture of their boba is okay, not bad or great. But I don't go because of the quality of their boba, I go because of their tea options. What isn't great: The reason I put a 3 star instead of 5 is because every time I've gone the service has always been sub par, and recently it was really laughable. I was greeted by a very high strung teenage girl who also happened to be the shift supervisor. I asked her if their jasmine rooibos tea had caffeine or if it was a true non-caffeinated rooibos. I had never seen a non-caffeinated jasmine tea before so I was making sure it wasn't a green tea/ rooibos blend. She told me that all rooibos has caffeine but she didn't know exactly how much. I corrected her and said rooibos doesn't have caffeine normally, and repeated that I was asking if this specific jasmine one did. She insisted that rooibos wasn't herbal and therefore had caffeine. This is very much not true, unless rooibos is blended with a caffeinated tea, it is naturally non caffeinated. She was very unwilling to hear what I was saying, and I could see she had no idea what she was talking about, so I took a chance and ordered the Jasmine Rooibos. It was amazing! Everything I had dreamed of in a Rooibos tea! 10/10. Hope she learns her tea properly before she insists on something that is obviously not true, especially if she's the shift supervisor. They've got an A so I knew they're taking care of the business on that end but add to that they've got great Customer Service! Casey is a gem and was able to help me navigate through their extensive menu, super friendly, very fast and multitasking all the while! She had to take care of my drink AND their drive thru with a sense of urgency and a smile on her face! Dutch Bros got nothing on her!! Bakersfield is limited in their boba selection but entering this place made me feel like I found a hole in the wall. They have a whole shelf of loose leaf tea and a pretty extensive menu. I loved the mango peach green tea with boba that I ordered although next time, I'd opt for 50% sugar. I did see that they had loose leaf teas which I normally buy by the oz at other loose leaf tea shops. I mistakenly thought that at $8 for 1 cup=8oz=267g, this was a good deal. For reference, Sacramento's loose leaf tea shops sells $8-$10 for 1/4 cup=2oz=57g. This place measures by a measuring cup, NOT by a kitchen scale so imagine my disappointment when I got less than what I expected. For the peach oolong, it was 5/8oz=19g and pu'er tea was 1.25oz=37g meaning that for the same 2oz as Sacramento's loose leaf tea, you would be paying $24 for peach oolong and ~$12.50 for pu'er. The same measuring cup will give you a different amount of tea based on how dense the leaves are, if it contains dried fruits, or how you pack it. For now, I'll just stick to buying their drinks instead of their loose leaf. read more

I have been to this location a couple times and I had never had a bad experience until today. This was the first time coming to this location since COVID-19 started. My mom, sister, and I went through the drive thru and placed our orders with an employee named Gabby. We had our masks on while we placed our orders in the car and noticed she was not wearing one. After placing our drive thru order, we were asked to drive around and park at the front to wait for our drinks. While in the car, we discussed how we were uncomfortable that she was not wearing a mask while she took our orders and that she should be protecting herself and other customers. We did not think much of it until we noticed that Gabby was also bringing out drinks to other customers without a mask on. My sister went outside and respectfully asked her "Miss, is there a reason why you are not wearing a mask?" Gabby looked at us, didn't respond, turned around, and went back inside. She came back out seconds later with our drinks, said "Have a nice day." My sister repeated her question and Gabby turned around and yelled, "I'm not wearing one as a personal choice and if you don't like that you can go somewhere else!" We asked a genuine, respectful, and valid question and were given a blatantly rude response. There was no reason to be disrespectful to us. My sister calmly went inside and asked to speak with a manager. While inside, Gabby ignored us and another employee was very kind and said, "Mam, our manager is not here but I can provide you with her phone number." My sister called while inside. The manager was very respectful and explained that while Governor Newsom mandated face coverings and social distancing, that they could unfortunately not enforce face coverings to employees due to Kern County's leniency. This tea bar location has signs all over their windows stating "Please wear a mask," yet isn't enforcing the usage of masks for their employees? The county has been lenient with the PUBLIC but managers have the right to enforce it with employees. None of the three employees behind the bar were wearing masks. These are folks that are food handling and constantly interacting with customers. We are very disappointed with Tea Bar and hope that employees are better trained with conflict mediation. Gabby, do better. tl;dr - This location's employees are not wearing masks while food handling during COVID-19. Please avoid for safety. read more

I love Tea Bar! My favorite flavor has to be Taro. I've been here many times and I have never been disappointed. Every time I come I always tell myself I'm going to try a new flavor but I always end up getting taro since it's so good!!! Today I noticed a food menu right by the cash register. I have never tried any of their food items so I'm going to have to check it out. I'm a huge fan of boba. Boba is fun, chewy and addicting. Tea bar has other options to add to your drinks like lychee and fruits, but if you're like my 10yr old and don't like different textures then you're probably gonna take your teas or smoothies plain and to be honest, it's awesome like that too.. Very disappointed! It's very sad that employees can make customers think twice about giving their business to a once amazing place. I had visited a couple weeks ago now and my drink was made wrong so I kindly called to see about getting it re-made. The woman I spoke with had a very nasty attitude and simply told me "what do you want me to do?". This left me flabbergasted so I demanded that my drink be re-made. I drove back and talked to that same lady, she was still very rude and took the drink I wanted re-made out of my hand and tossed it into the trash very aggressively. She then remade my drink and almost tossed it at me. I contacted the manager and received one response then crickets. This will be my family's last visit here! This was my favorite place until recently. It was really good once! But I've had so many issues lately. First, I start having trouble ordering my friend's favorite drink. Employees would look at me confused and not know the tea I was asking for by name, direct from the menu. The boss leaned out the window once, correcting me on my pronunciation (incorrectly). Annoying and weird, but ok fine, I'll call it what you want me to call it, right? The real issues started more recently. I order my usual drinks, a smoothie for me and tea for my friend. I have some minor annoyances, my boba clumps up and makes my drink hard to drink. This happens, I can deal with it. But now! The majority of the time now, his tea is over-brewed beyond belief, opaque, all tannins and undrinkable. I think, ok, it's a tea they don't do often. I'll just order something more common like passion tea. No such luck-- even that is way over-brewed and sickening. I tried being a proactive helpful customer and went in today, explaining the situation, and the barista told me that "some teas are just bitter." Yes, of course, no kidding dude! I like me some teas, I know what tea is supposed to taste like. I have a working knowledge of how it works, which is why I knew about over-brewing and over-steeping. The barista didn't seem to have these concepts down yet, explaining that they brewed it for a few minutes, and that their water is only one temperature-- which is wild to me, many teas are best brewed at a different temperature than, say, a black tea. A couple weeks ago I had a friend with me that had never tried Boba and so I gave them one last try, never again!
