I'm new to Bakersfield and have been to this bar about 3 times now. All times have been pretty awesome. The place and atmosphere is diff from the rest of the town to say the least lol. The bartenders are actually friendly and helpful. The drinks were really good.. I've had an espresso martini, old fashioned, a whisky smash and all were deliciously made. It's a gem for sure!

    Some Beach cocktail.

This was our first time coming to Cask Strength. The food, atmosphere, and service was all wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Did not try any food however the drinks were great! First time trying Whiskey and the bartender definitely did a great job at giving me plenty of recommendations. Their old fashioned definitely was great will be coming back soon and beautiful interior design.

Quick Summary Drinks were good but inconsistent. Food was above average. But their major need for improvement is the way (I get being short-staffed during the pandemic, but they could get another body from their Zama staff next door). Food- 4 stars We ordered the lamb chops, maple burger and cobb salad. The lamb chops were juicy and had good flavor. Maple burger was pretty good and the fries were double-fried, so that's always a treat. My girlfriend wasn't a big fan of the cobb salad, so would avoid healthy options here Drinks- 4 stars I enjoyed my Cask whiskey sour and old fashioned, but one of my friends at the table received a whiskey sour that was missing the lime juice. That was the only flaw regarding drinks Service- 3 stars The servers were really nice but they were understaffed. It took about 45 minutes to get our food and drinks were delayed. Bottom Line Food was pretty good but avoid the healthy options. If you're willing to wait about 30-45 minutes to get food here, the food and drinks are somewhat worth the wait.

Pros: Quaint little spot with pretty cool atmosphere, exceptional service, and a massive selection of drinks to choose from. The Crop Lemon Drop was refreshing and my husband ordered the 58 Empty Bar Stools and then the Buffalo Trace Double Barrel Old Fashion. He said both were really good but the Double Barrel was his favorite between the two. The Bourbon Maple Bacon Burger IS A MUST (according to my husband) and the French fries are cooked to perfection. Location is just right for dinner before a concert at the Fox. Kudos to the young lady who had only been employed for one week that waited on us. Wish we could remember her name. She was great! Cons: They don't take reservations, but seating during a weeknight at about 6p wasn't a problem. Menu in Q Code app on table may not be up to date with paper menu. Make sure you check with your server if there's something you don't see on the menu but are wanting to order. Fried Raviolis are just ok, as were the Chicken Marinara Sliders. Smell of stagnant cigarette smoke seeps into the restaurant from somewhere nearby. As non-smokers, it was rather nasty catching whiffs of it every so often while we ate our meals. Otherwise a good experience overall. We will definitely go again another night to try other options.

First time there and had the best experience. Ordered the bourbon bbq tri-tip and it came out within 6 minutes of ordering ! It was so tasty and it was a good amount to share with other people if wanted. Will be returning to try the truffle fries !

An absolutely beautiful whiskey bar. The selection is legit insane. I don't drink whiskey often but I do appreciate some gin and their selection is also pretty stellar. Its a great addition to downtown Bakersfield. There's no where in town like it! Service is always on point. The bartenders are so friendly and knowledgeable. Jackie is my fav ever. She's honestly one of the best bartenders in town and I love to hear about all her knowledge about whiskey. The manager is super sweet and always sparks up friendly conversation. It's also super refreshing to the see the owner so involved and also working hard like his staff. I got the maple bacon burger and it was cooked to a perfect medium. It's a very large patty piled high with toppings. A pretty solid burger. Definitely give this local spot a try if you love craft cocktails and yummy bites.

What a fun experience we had here , the bartender was incredible and took the time to show us his tequila selection and explained the differences . He made excellent cocktails too my husband was happy and can't wait to go back .

We started off with the fredy's root beer and peach whiskey lemonade. My favorite out of the 2 was the peach lemonade but both were great. I ordered the chicken chardonnay with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The chicken was one small breast with some sweet Brussel sprouts. I wasn't impressed with the mashed potatoes. My fiance ordered the maple bacon burger with fries and he loved it. I wish I ordered the burger and fries.

It's rustic and clean, it's very clean. There's a very large side room for events etc. the main bar area is small with some nice chairs to sit in and the large tv was set to a fireplace. The floors are covered in various beef/farm brands, adds to the rustic western vibe. Bartender was friendly and attentive. She kept busy cleaning and dusting bottles- like I said- it's clean. Drinks for a "speakeasy" were not special. Very typical bar drinks- no special menu etc. I visit a lot of speakeasy's- this is, speakeasy-ish. Our two drinks & a club soda were nearly $40. They were made well. Unfortunately, they didn't have the ingredients to make the drink I had asked for. Overall, I'd like to see this place on a weekend night with music. The drinks were over priced for what they were- IMO. That said, I'll likely return, at least once. Still bummed KC doesn't have a nice speakeasy.

We love coming here just to see her. This is a great spot for a quiet date night. It can get pretty pricey, but half of what you pay for is the location and the service, which is second to none. This is a great spot to host a private party as well and does require a password to get in. A great way to ensure your party stays private!

Nobody plans to spend an evening in Bakersfield. You pass through it on the way to somewhere else…read more-- Mammoth, the Sequoias, the long flat grind up the 99 to Sacramento -- and if you stop at all, it's for gas or a bathroom or because your BMW's brakes have decided, somewhere around the Grapevine, that they'd rather not. Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

I only had a drink upstairs at the original bar and I ordered my default go to when I visit new tiki bars and am unfamiliar with their menus and that was the painkiller. The service or person behind the bar was chill and super friendly. I came in on the earlier side of a Friday evening, so although people were trickling in, the place wasn't packed. Since I was only able to stay for a drink, I just wanted to walk down and check out 'The Sinking Ship' and was thoroughly impressed by the decor (well pretty much for both spaces). Definitely a place I'd love to grab drinks with friends or spend more time at.
