I came here with my girlfriend for the first time, the seating can be a little limited but they have a really nice bar and an upstairs patio for reservations. The music and decor are such a vibe, great for date night or catching up with a friend. The bruschetta app was delicious, the pizza was good, but there wasn't anything too special about it. Next time I come, I'm definitely gonna get the bruschetta appetizer again and I'm gonna try out one of their cocktails. Everything was made fresh so I will be back.

I came back to Fredo's last night & was not pleased with how the shrimp add-on to a dish still cost $5, but now I get 5 pieces of shrimp instead of 7 like last time. A dollar per shrimp is insane. Service was very slow & it was a weeknight, so not too busy. My friend waited for her pizza well over 15 minutes after everyone else got their food. Our server was very friendly. The restaurant looked great. I'm just displeased at the prices & slow service.

Fredo's is seriously a picture-perfect date night spot. The place looks absolutely beautiful, like a little fairytale moment tucked into real life. The vibe alone sets the mood before you even sit down. Our host was so pleasant and welcoming, and since it was our first time, she gave us helpful little insights that made the experience feel extra special. Of course we had to go with the pizza! It was exquisite. Perfectly made, full of flavor, and worth every bite. And the drinks? Ice cold and thirst-quenching in the best way. Everything just hit the spot from the Romantic aura, delicious pizza and just a whole vibe was a great experiece

Came in on a Tuesday and I was very impressed walking in. Beautiful space that was very inviting. We were created warmly and were seated quickly. The menu is not large but the quality of the food is great. That pistachio pizza was one of the top 5 pizzas I've ever had. The cocktails were very delicious as well. Our server was great; she gave some wonderful suggestions. A great place for a girls night out or date night can't wait to go back.

Happy New Year This spot was a nice vibe with some good strong drinks. It's the old art gallery building and still has that touch. The service was good, friendly, and fast. I didn't try to food but heard it was good. The drinks were amazing.

Oh my goodness gracious. This rigatoni diavolo with shrimp was outstanding! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the pasta was done to perfection. The sauce was spicy but still very flavorful. Even though I was already stuffed by the end, I still wanted more. The atmosphere is so cute and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly nice.

Easiest date night choice! Isn't crazy expensive, great environment, and wonderful food. The pizzas are more Italian adjacent than American which I just love. Cocktails will cost you around ~$15 which I think is fair everything considered. This would be top five for me if I wanted to sit and have drinks with friends or if I wanted a nice dinner that isn't insanely formal. I have nothing bad to say!

Stopped in for a bite and ended up pleasantly surprised by the pizza here. The crust had that perfect balance--light and airy with a nice char, yet still sturdy enough to hold up the toppings without getting soggy. The tomato sauce was rich and well-seasoned, and the mozzarella melted beautifully across the top in creamy, gooey pockets. I also appreciated the little pools of olive oil and the slightly crisped edges of the cured meat (prosciutto or perhaps speck?)--they added a lovely savory depth. This wasn't your average pizza--it felt more like a true Neapolitan-style pie done with care. If you're into wood-fired pizza with quality ingredients and a rustic vibe, this one's worth a stop plus not to mention the friendly service.

Had the loveliest time at Fredo's. We came in early and were able to choose our table. Service was pretty quick and our waiter was very helpful. Everyone is very friendly. The pistachio pizza was heavenly and the drinks were phenomenal. Limited menu but I can see the effort and burst of flavor in each bite with the food we ordered. The overall ambiance is stunning. Definitely one of my new favorite restaurants downtown.

Came here on a Sunday, quiet and chill environment. Staff was nice but I do have to say service was slow when there were only 3 tables occupied including ourselves. Food was good we ordered the Italian Stallion & Rigatoni Al Pesto Cremoso. Wouldn't say I was absolutely amazed by the food but it was good and a place where you can grab a quick bite after work and have a drink. The decor is cool with lots of unique plants.

The pesto pasta made me feel sick, I couldn't eat anything after that. The ceviche was ok

    Do they have vegan cheese?

I haven't been there is a few weeks, but their menu is very limited. Caesar salad and four pizzas. They don't even have dessert. There is no vegan pizza option.

It's rustic and clean, it's very clean. There's a very large side room for events etc. the main bar area is small with some nice chairs to sit in and the large tv was set to a fireplace. The floors are covered in various beef/farm brands, adds to the rustic western vibe. Bartender was friendly and attentive. She kept busy cleaning and dusting bottles- like I said- it's clean. Drinks for a "speakeasy" were not special. Very typical bar drinks- no special menu etc. I visit a lot of speakeasy's- this is, speakeasy-ish. Our two drinks & a club soda were nearly $40. They were made well. Unfortunately, they didn't have the ingredients to make the drink I had asked for. Overall, I'd like to see this place on a weekend night with music. The drinks were over priced for what they were- IMO. That said, I'll likely return, at least once. Still bummed KC doesn't have a nice speakeasy.

Thank you, Weatherford BMW of Berkeley, for the near-death experience and, inadvertently, for one of the best nights out I've had in years. Stranded and waiting on repairs, we checked into The Padre, the only hotel in Bakersfield that feels like someone with a subscription to Dwell had a hand in it, and set out walking through a downtown that time has treated with more kindness than reputation suggests. There's a Woolworth's luncheonette still hanging on. There are old brick facades and wide sidewalks and the particular quiet of a Central Valley evening when the heat finally breaks. And then, on 18th Street, there is Tiki-Ko, and suddenly you are no longer in Bakersfield at all. You are, instead, inside someone's magnificent obsession. Tiki-Ko is a proper tiki bar -- not a tiki-themed cocktail lounge, not a place that bought some bamboo at a craft store and called it atmosphere, but a genuine, committed, floor-to-ceiling shrine to mid-century Polynesian fantasy. The carvings are real. The lighting is correct -- which is to say, barely there. The mugs are serious. There are pufferfish lamps and carved totems and the whole glorious taxonomy of tiki ephemera, accented here and there with a skate-culture edge that keeps it from feeling like a museum. It's reverent without being precious. The drinks are the real thing. Mai Tais built with actual orgeat. Zombies that earn the name. The bartenders make them with the kind of care and enthusiasm that tells you this isn't a gig -- it's a calling. They want you to be here. They want to talk about rum. They want you to try the Painkiller. In a city that most Angelenos regard as a punch line, somebody built a world-class cocktail bar and filled it with joy, and the regulars clearly know it. You will not plan a trip to Bakersfield. But if you find yourself there -- by mechanical failure, by accident, by the peculiar mercy of a bad brake job -- walk downtown. Find the tiki bar. Order a second round. Stay longer than you intended. Bakersfield has been underestimated, and Tiki-Ko is the proof.

I only had a drink upstairs at the original bar and I ordered my default go to when I visit new tiki bars and am unfamiliar with their menus and that was the painkiller. The service or person behind the bar was chill and super friendly. I came in on the earlier side of a Friday evening, so although people were trickling in, the place wasn't packed. Since I was only able to stay for a drink, I just wanted to walk down and check out 'The Sinking Ship' and was thoroughly impressed by the decor (well pretty much for both spaces). Definitely a place I'd love to grab drinks with friends or spend more time at.

For our next round I ordered a Tito's and tonic and was given another vodka press. After scanning the QR code and checking out the menu, we decided on the shrimp ceviche as an appetizer with the shrimp tacos and a chicken taco salad. The menu is soooo small! I came in with an appetite and there wasn't much to choose from. The hubs said the ceviche was too salty but the shrimp tacos were good. I thought the taco salad was delicious and I finished it all. My friend ordered the garlic shrimp and also said they were salty and at $24.99 for just 6 shrimp, she would not order them again. The weirdest part was there was a big labradoodle inside the restaurant! I thought it crazy at first since there is a patio that is just fine for dogs. Look, I'm a dog lover, but inside of a restaurant is crazy to me! What if people are allergic? What if the dog jumps on the table? This dog was roaming all over the place...it was under our table looking for scraps and I even seen it sniffing a patrons legs at one of the high top tables. Anyway, this place is decorated super cute, the food was okay and the dog seems to be one of the owners so it seems it's going to be there indefinitely.
