Would like to give a review on my experience in your establishment. Today was my second time in two days visiting your restaurant. Last night, my four kids and I came. They went in, stayed in the car. They came back and told me it would be a 30-minute wait, so I said fine. Well, when they notified me the table was ready, I went in for the first time. There were two girls at the desk; they looked at me with blank faces, never greeting me or asking how they could help. I proceeded to tell the young lady that I got a message saying my table was ready. She never looked up. She then told the other girl to seat them at table 5, then said no, seat them at table 3; at this point, there was still no proper acknowledgment, which was very rude. The waiter, a ginger, male had a great personality the whole night. Now, I must say the other problem was the seating; I had a family of four and was seated in a two-sitter booth. Besides that, the food was great, with no complaints on that end. Because of the waiter, I just shrugged off my experience with the front desk. I went next door and purchased some cheesecake for the kids and called it a night. But today I returned and brought my two nephews, so I sent them in to see the wait, and they called me and said a table was ready. They were already seated when I arrived, so I walked in, and at this point, there were four girls at the desk. I said hi, "My two nephews have just been seated." Still, no smile, no "let me take you to them." I mean, not one of these girls took the time to properly address me. The young lady responded and said, "Straight down that way, you'll see them." So, I had to seat myself. At this point, my daughter arrived and came in. She told one of the girls at the desk, "I'm meeting my mother and my two cousins," still with a blank face. So, she called me and said, "Mom, where are you seated?" | had to guide her in. Once again, the waiter was awesome, the food was great, so we wrapped up our lunch. I proceeded to exit, and as I was walking past these same rude girls, I heard one of them say, "Yeah, girl, he's rich." So, I turned around, and three of them were looking at me, one hanging off the desk back turned facing The girls didn't even have the audacity to turn around. I tapped her on her shoulder and asked, "What is your name?" She said, "Jasmine." "Why?" I said, "Thank you," and proceeded towards the door. I went next door and purchased cheesecake, which I walked in and Alicia greeted us with a smile and helped us out very professionally. Now, I'm writing this review because I will not return to your establishment after today's experience. Whoever trained these young ladies needs to put them back through training. At this point, I'm not sure if they realize that they are the first person customers interact with, which could literally make or break the experience the customer has. They should always have a smile on their face and always properly greet each and every customer. I mean, you could walk into Subway, and they would even say, "Welcome to Subway." I've worked in customer service, and they need to understand they are the first face the customer sees. I was shocked at the behavior and personality of your front desk, and that was enough for me to throw in the towel. This is a tough one because I absolutely love the bartenders and most of the food. It gets a 3 because on several occasions I have been told that the chef refuses to chop the antipasto salad because they were too busy. This is not a customer focused approach to service. With dinner bills coming in at $100-?150 plus, it seems that this establishment would be more customer focus. I am a business owner myself and always put customers first even if it takes more time. This review has been a long time coming. We've been coming to Frugattis since it was at the other location. This location has much better parking and is large and beautiful inside. The hostess and waiters/waitresses are always on top of it and are knowledgeable in the menu and are friendly. Today Dawn helped us and she was great. She was sweet and kept our drinks full as well as made sure we had everything we needed. You will get complimentary bread to start. The food is always great. I usually order the Alfredo with any pasta and it's always perfectly slurpable. The beverages are tasty including the cocktails that get the job done. This place just feels like home and is our favorite Italian restaurant in Bakersfield. Finally went to the new location. Ambiance is really fun- big and festive and loud and Italian I went with a friend on a Saturday night and it was some high schools winter formals so there was a long wait and lots of groups of high schoolers, we didn't mind we were fine to wait. We were seated about 25 mins after putting our name in. Our server was stretched a little thin so we'd see her and then she would disappear for a while. I had the fettuccine with filet tips and my friend had tortellini. I had a Chardonnay to pair with my fettuccine. We got fresh warm bread to the table with better which was delicious and had not to devour before our food arrived. I was a little surprised they didn't have more wine by the glass options but I missed their first page of reds and only saw the whites and special Italian wines but even still didn't seem like a ton of nice wines for a nice Italian restaurant My fettuccine was creamy and really hot. The steak tips with it medium and really seasoned well. The Chardonnay was a little sweet, and not my favorite, forgot the name of it but there were only 3 to choose from. We ended with lemon ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. Both were super delicious. I think they've upped their desert game. So good. read more

3.50* I'm not a pasta person. I personally think it's a waste of calories and stomach space. I could think of other foods I'd much rather indulge myself in. However, my wife and children are fanatical about pasta. So, while visiting Bakersfield I decided that I'd find a pasta restaurant that they'd enjoy. Fruggati's was highly regarded. The restaurant itself is amazing looking. The olive trees that decorate the restaurant were beautiful. It was very well lit without being overly bright. Our server was very efficient, and my wife did feel bad because she did have her come to our table more than we normally do with servers. Now to the food. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. Not my favorite thing. It was super briny tasting due to the cappers. It could be my lack of experience with authentic Italian cuisine, but every bruschetta I've had previously was more on the sweet side due to the olive oil and balsamic. This one did not have balsamic, and that may well be how bruschetta is supposed to be served. As my main I ordered the artichoke, bacon, and cherry tomato pizza. I was really looking forward to it and was a little disappointed. It tasted fine. My issue was the pizza dough. I'm more of a thinner and crispy dough type of person. This was more napoleon style. Very soft and floppy. The toppings would just slide off. I guess this was more of a fork and knife type pizza. To be fair the dough was very fresh tasting and under different circumstances or as a bread option it'd be killer. As a personal preference I didn't care for it as pizza dough. If you love pasta please do not let my review deter you. I'm not the audience for this place but it may be worth it for you to try. read more

My sis in law recommended this place and it was a total hit! After a long drive we came in hungry on a Saturday night and the restaurant was completely full. The wait time was about 40 minutes so we found a spot at the bar and hungry as we were, ended up having dinner there. Portion sizes were very generous and make it easy to share. We ordered way too much food, as usual, and loved our time spent there. At the end of the meal, I was intrigued by the keto cheesecake, and I can honestly say it was the only thing I had that wasn't so good. It came as a small tarte, and had a really bitter flavor to it. I would not recommend it! Everything else was delicious and was plated beautifully. Service was top-knotch, and parking was plentiful as they share a lot with the adjacent hotel. I came with 2 other adults and like 4kids. We made reservations 1 week in advance. Lots of people celebrating birthdays, older folks out for a drink and pasta, and people on first dates (both looked nervous so I'm assuming). We were also unlucky enough to have the furthest corner so I'm sure that doesn't help us either. The food is good, with notes of our favorites: Chicken Parm - standard, always dependable. Big pieces of breast make it hefty. I wish it came with more of the garlic mushrooms cause they were awesome. Braciole - a special for a reason. Good amount of meat, large plate that would work for two. Meat was tender too. Truffle Sacchetti - good amount! Has chicken too which helps. As an Italian myself, it's nice knowing we have a place where I can have great, authentic Italian food just like my Nonna made. As a pescatarian myself, our favorite server Sharlene always has the best recommendations. We appreciate how knowledgeable she is with the menu items. She never disappoints! My biggest pet peeve at restaurants is empty drinks. With Sharlene, our ice teas and waters are always topped off. We had another great experience at Frugattis Tuesday night celebrating my daughter-in-law's and niece's birthdays. Our group of 10 was greeted and seated by our super waitress Laura she was fantastic no waiting on anything . We had reservations for 4 PM. It's a great time before the crowds start arriving. Water and delicious warm bread and butter were brought out immediately. There was no rush on getting our orders in. It gave us time to visit and enjoy our drinks. All of our dinners came out at the same time our steaks were tender and delicious. My shrimp were plump and large asparagus just right. I saw calzones that covered the entire plates . The parking lot was absolutely packed; we walked in as a family of 4 expecting an hour wait. We waited about 10 minutes or so to be seated. We were seated in their enclosed patio area. It was a very nice vibe, our waitress was bubbly, personable, and never had us go without. She was on top of refills and getting us anything we needed. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms (SO GOOD!!) as an appetizer. Since it is Christmas time, they had 2 elves hidden, and if you find them, you just let your server know and they give you candy canes. We have been back several times for their delicious ravioli, spaghetti, you name it, they do it right! What really stood out to us is how we were treated. That plate would have easily filled two empty stomachs. Two thick slices of meat over some perfectly dente pappardelle and a well balanced but hearty bolognese sauce. Went here on 4/20/26 while visiting CA. The food here is always good & the portion sizes are huge! This was my 2nd time here. The only thing that wasn't great was the temperature. CA is hot, but the air conditioning situation was just too much...it was literally freezing. We sat out in the indoor/outdoor patio area & it was still freezing. A nice young man addressed the issue of the fan running above us & turned it off after the manager wouldn't address the temperature. THANK YOU to that young man. Our waiter was certainly attentive and suggested their top three appetizers: stuffed mushrooms, spicy parm chicken things and bruschetta. Everything was delicious to wet our appetite. We always try to stop at Frugatti's when we are in Bakersfield. It is just the best Italian food. The place is so pretty and clean and they really take good care of it. Parking is super easy and the prices are fair. The service is so nice and they always get our order right and we always get a pizza to take back to our hotel if staying the night.
