I am writing to share my disappointment with a recent experience at Frugatti's. I chose your restaurant for my birthday dinner with a friend because I was hoping to enjoy a special evening. When we arrived, the hostess asked whether we were celebrating a special occasion. After I told her it was my birthday, she asked if I would like our server to know. I happily said yes because it was a special day. Unfortunately, the service and food did not meet our expectations. It took nearly 20 minutes to receive water and soda. Although bread was brought to the table, we had nothing to drink with it. My soup was cold, and my soda was overly syrupy and sweet. When our entrées arrived, I did not have a fork. Because our server never returned to check on us, getting one was unnecessarily difficult. My friend also wanted Parmesan cheese to add flavor to her pasta, but we eventually had to ask another waitress because our server did not come back. Our drinks were never refilled, and no one checked to see whether we were enjoying our meals or needed anything. What made the experience especially disappointing was that no one acknowledged my birthday, even though we heard other guests being celebrated at nearby tables. It also took a long time to receive our check, and by that point, the interaction felt rushed and forced, as though the staff simply wanted us to leave. I understand that restaurants can become busy and that an occasional delay may happen. However, the combination of slow and inattentive service, cold food, missing utensils, and the lack of any birthday acknowledgment made this a particularly disappointing way to spend my birthday. The food is absolutely incredible, and they've even expanded over the years to make room for more customers because they're just that popular. They have also much more room indoors for seating and a very nice covered outdoor dining area. Always such a family friendly place to have dinner, I absolutely love the family pictures on the walls. For a Saturday evening it was busy but the wait was less than 10 min. Thw waitress was so sweet and even thoigh she was extremely busy she was always attentive to us and all of her customers. Frugattis menu has many different options for a family with different nutritional or allergy needs without replacing taste or quality. I prefer to stay with the fitness part of the menu but I appreciate the gluten free options for my little one as well. I love Frugattis, it's my go to for when I'm craving Italian. I tried their Fitness Baked Chicken Breast and wow!!! Only 580 calories as well, it is so filling and tasty. HOWEVER, I think today was the first time we didn't get decent service. Brianna was nice , but she wasn't checking on anybody. We had to stop her for more bread, to order our drinks & food, the bill, to get the bill, refills... she just wasn't attentive at all. When something has to move locations to grow, you know the food is great as they need to make more seats for the number of people who want to be there. Everywhere you look is decorations that were put there to enhance the atmosphere. You could look all night and keep finding new things. This review has been a long time coming. We've been coming to Frugattis since it was at the other location. This location has much better parking and is large and beautiful inside. The hostess and waiters/waitresses are always on top of it and are knowledgeable in the menu and are friendly. Today Dawn helped us and she was great. She was sweet and kept our drinks full as well as made sure we had everything we needed. You will get complimentary bread to start. The food is always great. I usually order the Alfredo with any pasta and it's always perfectly slurpable. The beverages are tasty including the cocktails that get the job done. Ambiance is really fun- big and festive and loud and Italian I went with a friend on a Saturday night and it was some high schools winter formals so there was a long wait and lots of groups of high schoolers, we didn't mind we were fine to wait. We were seated about 25 mins after putting our name in. Our server was stretched a little thin so we'd see her and then she would disappear for a while. I had the fettuccine with filet tips and my friend had tortellini. I had a Chardonnay to pair with my fettuccine. We got fresh warm bread to the table with better which was delicious and had not to devour before our food arrived. I was a little surprised they didn't have more wine by the glass options but I missed their first page of reds and only saw the whites and special Italian wines but even still didn't seem like a ton of nice wines for a nice Italian restaurant My fettuccine was creamy and really hot. The steak tips with it medium and really seasoned well. The Chardonnay was a little sweet, and not my favorite, forgot the name of it but there were only 3 to choose from. We had dinner this evening at restaurant. We have been eating there about 10 years and always like it. Since the restaurant moved to a new location with outdoor dining. We tried a few times and we didn't like the chairs. It's not comfortable. So we requested inside table. The front services are not friendly and put us on the side about additional 30 minutes even however they have so many available tables inside. We do feel they did it on the purpose. My sis in law recommended this place and it was a total hit! After a long drive we came in hungry on a Saturday night and the restaurant was completely full. The wait time was about 40 minutes so we found a spot at the bar and hungry as we were, ended up having dinner there. Portion sizes were very generous and make it easy to share. We ordered way too much food, as usual, and loved our time spent there. At the end of the meal, I was intrigued by the keto cheesecake, and I can honestly say it was the only thing I had that wasn't so good. It came as a small tarte, and had a really bitter flavor to it. The spaghetti was very dry, had hardly any meat sauce, and came with no Parmesan cheese. It also would have been nice to have a section for special requests when placing the order. Our waitress was extremely sweet, professional, and friendly. The portions are quite large compared to previous restaurants I've tried and this was a nice surprise. As for entrees, My lasagna was savory and filling with a good balance of meat, sauce, and cheese. The chef prepared it to perfection and I enjoyed sharing it with my friend, who also enjoyed it. I wish I would've taken a picture. It was a large portion as well. I shared nearly 30% of it with my friend and still had plenty to take home. She loved her chicken piccata. The flavors were balanced, and nicely buttered, mixed with a splash of lemon zest. The sauce over the asparagus was lightly creamy, almost like a silky golden brown coat that blended the flavor without being too heavy or too much like gravy. Finally, the cannolis! These were absolutely heavenly. Satisfying crisp, peppered and drizzled in chocolate, and filled to the brim with a light, fluffy, lush ricotta cream. Mixing the cream with the chocolate produced a lovely mousse. The proportions were great for two people. 3.50* I'm not a pasta person. I personally think it's a waste of calories and stomach space. I could think of other foods I'd much rather indulge myself in. However, my wife and children are fanatical about pasta. So, while visiting Bakersfield I decided that I'd find a pasta restaurant that they'd enjoy. Fruggati's was highly regarded. The restaurant itself is amazing looking. The olive trees that decorate the restaurant were beautiful. It was very well lit without being overly bright. Our server was very efficient, and my wife did feel bad because she did have her come to our table more than we normally do with servers. Now to the food. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. Not my favorite thing. It was super briny tasting due to the cappers. It could be my lack of experience with authentic Italian cuisine, but every bruschetta I've had previously was more on the sweet side due to the olive oil and balsamic. This one did not have balsamic, and that may well be how bruschetta is supposed to be served. As my main I ordered the artichoke, bacon, and cherry tomato pizza. I was really looking forward to it and was a little disappointed. It tasted fine. My issue was the pizza dough. I'm more of a thinner and crispy dough type of person. This was more napoleon style. Very soft and floppy. The toppings would just slide off. I guess this was more of a fork and knife type pizza. To be fair the dough was very fresh tasting and under different circumstances or as a bread option it'd be killer. As a personal preference I didn't care for it as pizza dough. We were also unlucky enough to have the furthest corner so I'm sure that doesn't help us either. The food is good, with notes of our favorites: Chicken Parm - standard, always dependable. Big pieces of breast make it hefty. I wish it came with more of the garlic mushrooms cause they were awesome. Braciole - a special for a reason. We were greeted immediately by our server and brought free bread and butter, with complementary olive oil on the table. Bread was delicious. My wife and I ordered calzone to split and my dad ordered the spicy sausage ravioli, my 6 year old ordered the kids fettuccine Alfredo. First the calzone! Very original looking crust, definitely high quality ingredients and cook! The flavors were delicious, probably not big enough to share but close enough, I'd probably get my own next time. The ravioli were delicious as well, my dad is pretty picky but he really enjoyed it. Even the kids fettuccine was high quality and delicious. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures of the food but we got to talking and just enjoying dinner that I forgot until the plates were half eaten. Great food, service and atmosphere! I came with 2 other adults and like 4kids. We made reservations 1 week in advance. Lots of people celebrating birthdays, older folks out for a drink and pasta, and people on first dates (both looked nervous so I'm assuming). Our server took good care of us, the only thing he missed was my request for New England clam chowder but he also didn't put it in the bill so it was fine. All in all I give it n 8 out of 10. My wife visited Bakersfield to buy a new vehicle. Our Grandaughter works for the school district so we decided to call her to have dinner. We wanted Italian so she looked up this place. From the moment we walked in we we were treated with a welcoming heart. Our server, host was Tanner. He explained everything with clarified. We had another great experience at Frugattis Tuesday night celebrating my daughter-in-law's and niece's birthdays. Our group of 10 was greeted and seated by our super waitress Laura she was fantastic no waiting on anything . We had reservations for 4 PM. It's a great time before the crowds start arriving. Water and delicious warm bread and butter were brought out immediately. There was no rush on getting our orders in. It gave us time to visit and enjoy our drinks. All of our dinners came out at the same time our steaks were tender and delicious. My shrimp were plump and large asparagus just right. I saw calzones that covered the entire plates .
