People have to be tired of my reviews photos and check ins here. But, when it works it just works. 300 plus check-ins and still my Happy Place. Steaks, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Steak bites, and Amazing Calamari. Pay attention to the Specials Board, because you never know what the Fabulous Chefs like Danny and Luis are going to create for your Culinary Adventures. Classic retro Steak House vibes, Lovely ladies taking care of the dining room and bar: Sarah, Megan, Liz, Micaela, and all my Beautiful people. (Sorry if I forgot you on this post but we love you and appreciate you). Entertainment by Jimmie and Bobbie. KC Steak has been a Bakersfield place to be and be seen for 80 plus years. More food, more drinks and more fun for 2026 and beyond.

Delicious food . The steak was one of the best I've tried in town. Id say definitely in the top three. The mashed potatoes were delicious. The pork chops were delicious. The service was good. There was parking in the back of the restaurant and there are street parking as well.

First time having dinner here and I have to say it wasn't any special. Over priced food and drinks with a long wait time. Service was not that great. First off I don't know about you but Valentine's Day to me isn't a holiday apparently to KC Steakhouse it is. There excuse to tac on a 20% charge on your bill. Next you want to charge an extra cause of a so-called holiday and still have a limited menu strike two. If you're going to have a limited menu and still take forever to serve the food come on do better. 3 strikes your out KC Steakhouse, there are way better place to go have dinner in town where they won't rob you blind for a mediocre meal.

My husband's company has had their Christmas party at KC steakhouse for two years in a row and so far I have really enjoyed it. The waiting staff are very friendly and never let your drink be half empty. The food is always delicious. This last one we had chicken and tri tip. Both were sooooo good. The party rooms are always set up so nice and can't ask for a better experience for a Christmas party.

This was my first time being here and I only went because my brother invited me out for my bdy, so it was a bfy dinner. First off super dim when you arrive, it took us at least 15mins for our eyes to adjust lol. Super cool looking inside, it reminded me of a restaurant in Chicago called Storyville expect the band is downstairs. The service was a little rushed. Like for it being my first time I wanted a great dish and I do appreciate the help from our server, but my brother and I did feel sorta rushed to order. My favorite whiskey sour is from Eureka on Stockdale but the sours I drank here were really delicious. Different cherries in both drinks but both the drinks were excellent. I can go on about a rant on the food but I will simply say I will definitely go back. Delicious food and the lobster mac n cheese was one of the best things I have tasted in my life.

Me waiting for a table ...............

I have been dining out for more than 50 years. This is the first time I ever had to wait over an hour for a 7:30 reservation. 8:30 and counting. All the other nearby"Plan B" restaurants are closing. And we are not the only ones. Unbelievably badly managed. When we were finally seated at 8:45, the service was good. They were apologetic and the food arrived quickly at 9:10. However, the food was, to be charitable, subpar. The steak was good and properly cooked (table stakes at a steak house). Everything else was pretty awful. The bread was stale and cold. The side salad (extra charge) was drowned in dressing and the croutons were dangerously inedible. The "whiskey peppercorn" sauce (extra charge) for the steak was congealed; clearly made way ahead and thickened beyond belief. It was mildly useful to moisten the desiccated, unseasoned mashed potatoes. But the worst was the side vegetables: over-steamed, unseasoned zucchini flopped onto the plate. They put steak on a plate with bad cafeteria food. It must be a completely demoralized kitchen. And that means bad ownership.

Went here for my birthday and have to say I had the very best experience. Love the cozy atmosphere and enjoy the booths so much. The food is always delicious and today was no exception. Steak was perfectly medium rare and all the sides were yummy. The dessert was also so good. Our server was so friendly and helpful. She made my birthday even more special. Prices are what you expect for a steakhouse but well worth it. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a great place to celebrate.

Growing up in Bakersfield, I'm mad at myself for not coming any sooner to KC Steakhouse. Came by on a Saturday for my first time, and absulotely loved this place. The ambiance here was awesome. Dark, had a bar type feeling and it was a classy decoration that I liked. Menu was good and extensive. They have just about everything you would think a steakhouse would have. I decided to try their 9oz filet mignon, cost me $52 for the plate but IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. My steak was cooked to perfection and tasted AMAZING. Hands down the best steak I have had in all of Bakersfield and I'm a huge steak fan fyi. The baked potato that was my side was also superb. Overall, my meal was a 10 out of 10. Our server and bartender were phenomenal. These ladies were on it and they were so kind! When you have great service and a great meal, you know you will be back. Thanks KC steakhouse, you got an awesome spot there. See you guys very soon.

Last year I made a large reservation for about 10 ladies to celebrate someone and on the way to the restaurant they called to confirm the reservation (about 30 minutes before), but I did not hear my phone. When I arrived, a distraught friend told me that they did not have our reservation so I asked what the issue was. The manager told me because I did not confirm, they were not sure they were going to hold the table. I apologized that I had not recieved a call, but asked if we could still have the table (I was there on time and could see the large table with the reservation note on it). The manager begrungenly said they would allow us to still dine with them, but they said they would not seat us until more of our party arrived. I asked if we could wait for our party at the bar, but they said they would not because every seat at the bar was taken. So just a heads up, you cannot stand at the bar, you cannot stand around the restaurant, and they do not have a place to sit and wait for your table, you just have to stand outside (I'm sure it has to do with safety or firecodes, I didn't argue, we waited outside until people at the bar left). Once we were seated, the staff was not friendly. Wondering if we should leave or not, I called a friend who works near the building who frequents this place often on what I should do. He told me to go back inside and that the staff would be nice. When I returned, a new server came to our table with a tray of shots and said they would be taking care of us for the rest of the evening. I figured maybe the manager and that other server was just having a bad day, my friend must have called the restaurant and asked his most trusted server to help us, and enjoyed the rest of our evening. I didn't want to risk it another bad experience, so I haven't returned since. A few months ago during the whole Cesar Chavez news broke out, that friend who frequented the place went with another friend to the Botonist and was talking about the news while they were dining. The manager overheard. Later when my friends were getting ready to leave, the manager started becoming upset with my friends and told my guy friend, "I HOPE SOMEBODY R*PES YOU". Stunned, he asked her to repeat herself and she did. My friends left. The chefs and building are wonderful, but obviously something needs to be done about the management and staff with being professional and treating customers with respect. I've worked in the service industry and understand how stressful it can be, but I have always been able to keep my cool around people who are trying to enjoy a nice meal. Hoping they recieve the help they need as I love to see my community thrive.

There was no host stand, no greeting, and no indication of what we were supposed to do. I eventually asked the bartender about our reservation. He seemed mildly annoyed that I had interrupted whatever invisible task he was doing and told us we'd have to wait for the host. So we waited. And waited. Once seated, we ordered drinks and were served warm bread with butter knives. The problem? There was no butter. Instead, there were candles heating cups of drawn garlic butter that nobody explained. The waiter described it as a powerhouse flavor. Imagine garlic butter LaCroix. Technically present, but only as a rumor. The pacing of service was glacial. Not relaxed. Not upscale. Just slow. The entire evening felt like a social experiment where everyone involved was pretending to operate a fine dining restaurant while waiting to see if customers would notice. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which were apparently a house favorite. I sincerely hope that's no longer true. The filling was confusing enough, but someone decided to glaze them with a sweet sauce that made the entire dish taste like a dare. We took a few bites and surrendered. Then came the steaks. My fiancée ordered the filet medium rare. It arrived with the texture of warm oatmeal and was drowning beneath balsamic reduction and Gorgonzola. The steak itself was so soft and underdone it resembled a pink marshmallow more than beef. My strip steak arrived covered in gravy. Not a sauce. Gravy. To complete the experience, we both ordered baked potatoes. Because surely nobody can mess up a baked potato. We were informed that bacon and sour cream would cost an additional $2. Nothing says "premium steakhouse" quite like nickel-and-diming toppings for a baked potato. By the end of the meal, we were struggling to identify a single redeeming part of the experience. The service was slow. The food was baffling. The atmosphere felt like everyone--staff and customers alike--was participating in the same awkward experiment. Horse in the Alley desperately wants to be a fine dining destination. Unfortunately, wanting and being are two very different things. ***Our server Samantha was very sweet and even comped the stuffed mushrooms. But this was easily the worst $200 I've ever spent.

They literally left no stone unturned. Every single corner of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. I do love the whole vault theme. It definitely just feels like you're stepping back in time. The food was fantastic. On a Friday and Saturday night, they offer a prime rib special. The plate itself ran about $52. But it was well worth it. The prime rib absolutely melted in your mouth. It was paired with a beautifully baked potato. It was also served with a side of horseradish sauce as well as Au'ju, We also tried out the brussels sprouts appetizer. They were absolutely amazing. Flavor was spot on. And I would definitely recommend it if you're just wanting to try something a little bit different. Our meal also came with a soup or salad. My wife opted for the Caesar salad, with house made croutons which she said was great tasting. I opted for the soup of the day, which was an Italian wedding soup. Again great tasting everything tasted fresh and was piping hot.
