I can't give a full review, yet. Mainly because every time I go it's near the end of the day. I'm lucky if they have anything left in stock. So, I don't have a full gauge of what they have. I will say this for what I have had. I got their chocolate, toffee tarte and that was so good. It was so well balanced out. The cookie top paired so well with the luscious chocolate filling. Staff are also so helpful. They told me about the instagram page where they post about the pastries they have that morning. We were in town visiting and saw this bakery on yelp that I wanted to check out. The place is small but very chic- def not like the other establishments we frequented. It was bright, and felt clean. Their bathroom was also very clean. They didnt have a lot to choose from, I think maybe 3 flavors of cookies, fruit tarts and cannolis. I pretty much gave up on cannolis bc each and every one I've ever had has been a soggy mess. The cannolis here are the best I have ever had. The shells are not prefilled. The owner fills it and it's made to order. You can also pick a topping or two to sprinkle on the ends of the cannoli. Chocolate chip and pistachio were the toppings we chose. Ohhh my goooodnessss... the shell was crunchy and the cream inside was delicious, airy and just sweet enough. We had not eaten lunch yet so that is what stopped us from going back to get more. I also got 3 of their chocolate chip cookies, which were good. They are lightly baked so they're not the golden brown variety I'm used to consuming- we ate them no problem. Maybe the best scone I've ever had... I cannot wait to go back home and order a Blueberry Lemon scone! The scone is tall, filling and iced. It pops with sweetness while still having a zest of tartness. I'd say they are a yummy morning treat, midday snackaroo or delightful dessert. I had nibbles of one all throughout the day, so I know haha. ;D Will I be back? Yes! The shop may be small, but trust me--it's giving elegant, clean, classy, and straight-up upscale vibes. But the REAL star of the show? The desserts. Oh. My. God. They are f**king delicious. I finally had a real cannoli here, and WOW. You get to choose between the classic filling or a maple-butter filling... I did half-and-half because I needed to experience it all. Next time? I'm going full maple butter--no hesitation. You can even get the ends dipped in nuts, chocolate, and a few other toppings. They make it fun. I also tried the apple butter tart and--wow again. Rich, flavorful, and honestly you don't need much because it hits. Definitely shareable... if you're feeling generous. This place is a little gem. I'm genuinely grateful it exists. Prices are reasonable, and while customer service was kinda "there but not there," I didn't even care because I was laser-focused on my desserts to go. It was my first time trying GhilaDolci Bakery. It's a small spot near the heart of Downtown Bakersfield. If you blink, you just might miss it. The bakery has parking in the back which is nice. This is an adorable bakery in Bakersfield, California. We tried two of their cookies, and they were so delicious and decadent. The size was quite large, and the texture was so soft. I really loved the one with the Biskoff cookie filling. We loved stopping here on our road trip and would definitely go back. We were greeted by a friendly face and a smile. She took our biscotti order and said thank you. Not having been here before, we knew we had found a new bakery. The cookies were really tasty and baked perfectly, the pumpkin muffins were for sure my favorite. The cranberry bliss bar was a little to sweet for me, It had great flavor a little less sugar would have made a huge dinner. I found out about this bakery from a friend and after having tried their cakes from multiple parties, I knew I wanted to place an order! I ordered a 2 tier cake for my niece's fiesta themed birthday party. It was very easy to order and received fast email responses. The cake design was beyond my expectations. (Not pictured is the inside of the cake) I ordered an Oreo with salted caramel buttercream filling which was absolutely amazing! The inside of the bakery gave a welcoming and homey feeling with the delicious smell of sweets. I knew I HAD to get something for myself to try. The owner was kind enough to carry the cake and place a non skid mat on the bottom of the cake to refrain it from sliding (I had a 30 min drive home). The cake made it in one piece! Very discreet, understated, upscale store front. I drove past it and had to double back until I saw La Dolce Vita/the sweet life written on the side wall in elegant script.  Interior seems immaculate in mostly shades of white. A friendly server informs you of what bakery delights are on display.  Come to GhilaDolci (ghee lah dohl chee) early since they run out of certain items fast like my "Make Your Own Cannolo". Cannoli is actually for more than one.   I don't understand these stores that run out of a popular item that they know they will run out of. Can't they just make more from past experience?  Yet they continue to make other items that don't sell as well. Strange use of wasted energy & resources as well as sales loss.   1) Since GhilaDolci has its origin in Italian, Ghilarducci being their family name & Dolci meaning "sweets", I went for the Bombolone (bohm boh loh neh) which means big bomb in Italiano.  It looks like two hamburger buns stuck together with thick, fruity strawberry conserve & Crème Chantilly-Mascarpone cheese mixture. Mascarpone is what's in Tiramisù.  The buns seem like a lighter fried version of Brioche bread. The top coated with a thin layer of chocolate Ganache and piping of white sugar frosting. There is a fancy medallion of round dark chocolate with the store name inscribed.  Unfortunately for me, it was a bland experience. The Crème Chantilly-Mascarpone cheese mix lacked the grass fed, contented cow, triple cream scented rIchness.  However, had the Crema Pasticciera/Italian pastry cream been infused with Limoncello, Amaretto di Saronno, Frangelico, etc., the Bombolone would have more interesting flavour details.  Visiting the next day early: 2)  Cannolo Siciliano: Better known to Americans as Cannoli. Cannolo comes from the Italian Canna which means cane or tube.  "Cannoli come from the Palermo and Messina areas and were historically prepared as a treat during Carnevale possibly as a phallic fertility symbol."  Nice thick crunchy tube of dense fried flour based pastry. The Ricotta cheese & cream mixture along with a very light coffee flavouring is squeezed into the fresh Cannolo. Both ends where the cheese mixture is exposed were studded with roasted Pistacchio (pees tah kee oh) nuts. Very classic treatment.  To give a boost of flavour, I drizzled on thick Bailey's Irish Cream. Italy & Ireland are both Catholic majority countries. In fact, many Italians & Irish in America married since they met in the Catholic church.    3)   Italian Cream Cake: "Rich, coconut-pecan vanilla cake (and a hint of almond) with a cream cheese filling."  The cake is subtly sweet, moist, heavy, woody nuttiness from the roasted, crushed pecan pieces. Strands of coconut add a fibrous chewiness. Hint of almond extract  almost reminds me of Marzipan.  The frosting is thick, dense, stiff yet meltingly creamy with a double cream, faint fermented sour dairiness.  Great with dark, strong Italian roast coffee or the rich, earthy, acidic, fermented Irish Breakfast tea.  Final disappointment: There were no Biscotti this Saturday. Biscotti are twice baked so they last for days. If they make a huge batch and have left overs, they can still be sold days later. 4)  However, on a later visit, I ordered online ahead for pick up. The Biscotti may be Ghiladolci's crowning glory. The Chocolate Biscotti is rich, dark chocolate.   The combination of dried, sweetened sour Cherry & Pistacchio Biscotti is a heavenly match of mostly sweet but touch sour fruitiness and woody nuttiness.   The cakey portion has the perfect dry yet slightly moist texture inflected with a touch of toastiness & vanilla, possibly a soupçon of sweet butter. Hands down this is the best Biscotti I've had the pleasure to experience.  4+ stars especially because of the Cherry Pistacchio Biscotti. Bravìssimo! read more

GhilaDolci Bakery offers the best desserts in the Central Valley of California. Today I tried a Pistachio Tart and it was wonderful. A nice blend of pistachios, marshmallow and tasty crumble base. This is just an example of the obvious high quality, care and attention placed into each dessert offering. Add a nice cup of coffee brewed using a French press and you have the perfect morning. Thankful!! I am so thankful that I finally made it down to GhilaDolci Bakery! Have heard wonderful things about this local bakery, but I could never find the time to make it down to their place until recently. Thank you for being open early (7:30am) on Tuesdays through Saturdays. They are closed by 3pm, and do not open on Sundays and Mondays. I got here bright and early. Was surprised to see how petite the bakery is. Very Charming place! It felt like I was walking into someone's home when I opened the front door. I was welcomed by the lovely lady. While she assisted the gentleman ahead of me, I closely examined their display cases of beautiful creations. I like how they do not overdo it with too many choices because it can be confusing. A Chocolate Chip cookie and a Cannoli are the two items that I chose to purchase. Prices were reasonable. I thought that they may be way overpriced because the bakery had more of an upscale feel to me. Happy to say that their prices are fair! All their cookies looked yummylicious! That Chocolate Chip cookie that I had was very good. Just the right amount of sweetness for me. The only thing I would have enjoyed more is if there had been pecans or walnuts added to that Chocolate Chip cookie! Maybe they offer those flavors on other days? Maybe you can order it? The Cannoli was BOMB!!! I almost did not even want to mention how good this Cannoli of theirs tasted. It was the Best Cannoli that I have eaten in Bakersfield. In fact, it is now in my personal Top 3 of favorite Cannoli spots in the United States of America!! My other two favorite locations are in the North End area of Boston. I love how GhilaDolci Bakery keeps the cannoli shell and the ricotta filling separate until you purchase the cannoli. In other words, it is not pre-filled with the ricotta (as the majority of bakeries are). I watched as she got a empty cannoli shell out of the case, and stuffed it with their ricotta cheese filling. They have 3 toppings choices. I asked for Pistachio on one side of the cannoli and chocolate chips on the other side. Took one bite, and my taste buds were dancing with joy!!! Enjoyed every single bite of that delicious Cannoli!!! Was proud of myself for limiting myself to those two items. It was difficult to do because I enjoyed eating those treats inside their bakery at one of their little tables. A small local spot, at the west side of downtown. A must stop spot if you can make it their before they sell out. I believe they only make a select number of items for the day, but they always seem to be the best items you could think of, with the best quality ingredients. From their specialty items, to their cookies, to their delicious lemon tarts they definitely know what they are doing. I would give more stars if I could! I have had substantial experience in my life making cakes so I can absolutely recognize a master baker at work. Courtney made a custom cake for my very eccentric mother in law and ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT! Even if the cake hadn't been delicious (and I assure you it was), just having this beautiful cake as the centerpiece of my mother in law's 75th birthday just made the whole party incredibly special. The rainbow and penguin sculpture were incredible and I cannot get over how gorgeous the hibiscus flowers were! On top of that, I was SUPER impressed with how structurally sound the cake was and how easy it was to cut neat and even pieces. Courtney was very easy to work with and the whole experience was just a delight. We ordered the Strawberry cake with strawberry filling which was a little on the sweet side for me (not a criticism, just a guideline for future orders) but it was perfect by my mother in law's standards. We ordered an 8" cake that served 20, but we easily could have served 30 with it. 1st of all, the proprietor is extremely professional. Responses never took more than an hour or so - even on the weekends. Every single one of my questions - even the dumb ones (I suffer from anxiety) were thoughtfully considered. I bought cake stands based on the dimensions provided and it looked amazing. I live in the Bay Area, and had never stepped foot inside the bakery. I reviewed Yelp reviews, and chose because of reviews and professionalism. I wasn't going to have the opportunity to visit prior, and the other unnamed bakeries never got back to me. 2nd, she made the Darth Vader cake from a picture - fair enough, it's not hard to find Darth Vader stuff online, but many guests refused to believe this was actually cake. There's a pic of my husband/birthday boy trying to tell if it was decoration or not. Many guests refused to it because it looked too good.... 3rd - she threw in an extra 2 layer carrot cake with nuts as a surprise- I'm allergic to nuts, and communicated that. The fact that she ensured I'd be ok, and also made sure my guests that had have nuts were happy. Great thing, because seriously - I think 2 people ate from Darth Vader's head. 4th - it was BOMB. I keep getting asked who did the cake. We posted pics on social media - everyone was in disbelief. I hadn't had sugar in 3 months, so I allowed myself a bite of everything (nut free), and seriously considered putting my entire face in the cake to eat it all. I think every time e we have an event in Bako, there will be Ghiladolci. I didn't know this bakery was here until I parked across the street for my hair appointment. I decided when I was done I would check it out. When I walked in, I was greeted nicely and welcomed. The bakery is very cute and clean. They have 3 tables to sit and enjoy your treats. There wasn't a ton to choose from. When I was there they had available: Cannoli Cookie Raspberry Crumble Cookie Chocolate Dipped Cookie Maple Pecan Scone and 1 Poppy Seed Muffin I asked if they have anything vegan and she replied "not today" so maybe they do on certain days.
