I've been here many times over the years, and the food does not disappoint. It's a small hole in the wall on Beretania St. The parking lot is small but there's a good amount of street parking in the area. The last time I dined in other than several nights ago was pre-covid and I don't recall them being so busy then. But they're busy now, so I'd recommend making a reservation. If you plan on dining in, my biggest tip to you: be patient. There was only one woman working in the front (the owner), so it may take some time for her to take down your order. Take that time to study the menu and figure out what you want to eat (they have pictures for every item, which is AMAZING!). I know I've tried many more from their menu, but here's what we had the other day: - Green Onion Pancake - it was ok. Harder than what I expected. Green onion pancakes should be crunchy but soft and flaky. I probably wouldn't get this again. - Fried Mantou - Yum! This was really good with the condensed milk. We let ours cool a little longer than we should, but super good hot (just not right away unless you want to burn your mouth) - Shanghai Pork Meat Buns - This was good as well. -Crispy Chicken - I didn't expect much from this but it was better than I thought. The skin was nice and crispy but the meat was very tender and soft. Also seasoned very well - not too salty - Pepper Salted Pork Spareribs - This was really good. I've been living here my whole life and never heard about this place until my friend told me about It! We had mad cravings for soup and pan fried dumplings when we had them in Vegas, and who would've thought they had it here! The best part about this place is that it reminded me of my childhood, growing up with home cooked Taiwanese food from my grandparents. This place feels like home, and the staff is so friendly, welcoming, and very informative if you never had Taiwanese food. We were a group of 4, but was so hungry that we ordered a bit too much to where we had to move tables so that our server could place ALL all food on the table! Here's what we ordered: Shanghai pork meat buns, Shao long bao, Shao bing sesame bread with pork and vegetables, and mochi rice. Personal favorites and a highly must get are the shao long bao, Shao bing sesame bread with pork and vegetables, and the mochi rice. Hands down the mochi rice is like a Taiwans version of spam musubi! Although, some downside of the food was that the Shanghai pork meat buns were pretty soggy, and it seemed as if the dough wasn't fairly cooked all the way so it was a bit difficult to finish. Many times I drive pass this place on Beretania Street and be wanting to come here. Parking is very limited. They have a small area on the left side. COVID times I did take out. I only ordered the pan fried pork dumplings here. I love pork buns. Not charsiu bao. It had veggie and pork that was more on the savory side. Had a bit of a vinegar taste also. They call it dumplings but feel like it was buns because the skin is thicker and bready. The bottom is pan fried. It would taste better fresh. Since we did take out it's not as crispy. The filling for the shao bing, powerfully flavored with dark soy, hoisin, and Chinese wine. Great chewy texture from the fried tofu. It pairs perfectly with the sesame flat bread (post travel). Dishes that fared better, the braised pork thigh, outstanding. Sweet brooding soy flavors, tender porky goodness. Gelatinous richness from the dissolved cartilage and melting fat make this all kinds of good. Also great, the bean curd (stuffed with simmered bamboo shoots, root veg, and cellophane noodles) and choi sum. Americanized dishes on offer. None sampled. Prices are fair. Hours are fixed. That's exactly what it feels like when you're dining in at dew drop inn. The food is amazing! You really can't go wrong with anything that you choose. Some of my favorites are: Soup dumplings, sesame pockets with pork and tofu, buns with beef and green onions, sweet sour pork, and spicy won tons. The service is great and they are really personable and kind. This place gets really busy, so it's best to come right when they open or make a reservation, especially on the weekends. This is my favorite hole in the wall on Oahu. Friendly, family run and the food tastes like homemade. Absolutely the best and most simple won ton soup. Just greens and tons of delicious won ton. Not like zippys, they only give like 5 won tons. My favorite dish is the salt pepper shrimp. It's fried with the Shell on but it's so soft, You can eat it. The flavor is amazing and it's topped off with garlic and onions. Also, really good is there Kung Pao shrimp. They are one of the only restaurants I know that uses water chestnuts and tons of peanuts. The heat level is always perfect. I almost forgot about the Mushu pork with the hoisin sauce. Amazing! Even their tea is delicious. I hate to recommend this place because there's only so many tables and there's usually a wait outside. But I definitely do highly recommend dew drop Inn. read more

Yelp Ghost stokes again! I know I reviewed this spot because I've been coming here since I was a kid. My aunt lived near the area and took me here and I've been coming back since. As a Yeep, I've been fortunate enough to come here for some UYE's as well. You can't beat good food, great company and BYOB. The restaurant is cozy but can surprisingly fit more people than you would think. Their parking on the side is on the smaller side and fills up fast so street parking is most likely. Watch out for the curb if you park on the right side of Beretania (right in front of the restaurant) because it's high and can damage your door. Don't ask me how I know...that was an expensive dinner that night. This is a family owned business where the dad is the cook in the back and Jimmy is usually working in the front. Customer service has always been friendly. All the food you order is good here! Over the years, I was able to try a good portion of their menu and nothing disappointed. The portions are on the larger side so keep that in mind. It's best to come here in a mid to large sized group so you can try more menu items. My fiancé and I came in on a Saturday night (without reservations), around 6pm and it was already packed! Luckily, we were able to get a (free) parking stall on the left side of the restaurant on S. Beretania Street but if the lot is full, you may need to search for street parking nearby. The parking lot is small so be mindful of how you park to avoid accidents! This is a quaint, hole-in-the-wall Taiwanese restaurant so be prepared to wait for a table during their peak dinner hours. From what I remembered, there were 6 tables and 2 other tables for bigger parties. I would recommend making a reservation in case you go on a busy days and don't feel like waiting outside. We both didn't know what they were known for but we have visited Taiwan in the past so we used that experience to order food. We put in an order for their Shao Bing Bao Pocket with Pork + Tofu, Lu Rou Fan, Garlic String Beans (no meat), and Spicy Shrimp + Pork Won Tons. On the table, they have condiments like sambal and white vinegar so if the taste isn't up to par, you could always add a little bit to enhance the flavors to your liking. Solid choice for Chinese food! We had a craving for a taste of home after being away for several weeks and decided to order takeout. It was very easy to call in our order and it was ready 15-20 minutes later. I ordered string beans and braised tofu with assorted veggies as well as a side of brown rice. The order was a little over $30. The employee was kind enough to provide me with 2 different types of hot sauce upon request. I was planning on returning the day after to try the pan-fried dumplings, but had plenty of leftovers so unfortunately decided against it. Phone ordered 30 minutes before closing time (which is 9pm). This was the second time I've been back to Dew Drop in years! Based most of my orders off Yelp community pictures. (1) Rice noodles with chicken, egg and shrimp. (2) Stuffee vegetarian bean curd and choisum. (3) Spicy Mongolian Beef. (4) Garlic fish fillet with mushroom and tofu. Order was ready for pickup in 20 minutes! 4 dishes for about $60 which is not the cheapest but the quality of food is what you pay for. Definitely agree that alot of menu items are not run-of-the-mill Chinese fast food. Pretty much loved every dish we ordered except the Mongolian beef, which was slightly rubbery and sad. This review is WAYY overdue. I first ordered takeout here for Yelp's Big Night In on April 11th, 2020. I've been dying to try Dew Drop Inn ever since I heard about it a few years ago, so it was the perfect opportunity to try it! I called ahead to see if they would let me bring my own container for takeout, and to much of my surprise, they gladly allowed me to! The parking is located to the left of the restaurant, but be careful, because stalls are a little tight, and difficult to back out of. I went in at around 6pm and saw about four people waiting outside for their takeout. I handed her my containers, paid for my food, and she told me it would be around 20 minutes. I came back to check back in 15, and it was hot & ready! They even went the extra step to open the little steamer hole in my container (I didn't even know that existed!) to make sure that my orange chicken didn't get soggy from the steam. Orange Chicken $13.95: Super good! I loved that the outside was crisp and lightly battered while the inside was soft and tender. The orange chicken sauce had a bit of that classic sour kick to it, but it was sweeter than the Panda's orange chicken. The batter soaked up the sauce nicely without become soggy, and instead it made the chicken soooo flavorful! There were even slices of oranges at the bottom which was a nice twist. Szechuan Eggplant $11.95: These were super addicting. The eggplant was so soft and flavorful, while the small red peppers packed a kick. It wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, which is good because me and my mum both aren't huge fans of spicy food. The portions are great for the price, and the service was so great! I've been wanting to try Dew drop inn for a while now but was waiting for a good opportunity to order family style with friends! The restaurant is quite tiny and is usually packed. We were planning to order takeout on a Saturday night and we had our dishes all planned out, but we were not able to get through on the phone after multiple tries! We were almost going to give up but someone picked up on our last try. The lady on the phone said they were very busy and that takeout would be at least 45 minutes. With an ambitious order for four, we ordered the following (that was ready for pickup exactly when estimated): - xiao long bao - stuffed shao bing with pork and tofu - pan fried shanghai buns (half veggie and half pork) - sizzling scallop and shrimp (spicy) - half duck Overall the food was good, although I'm sure it would've been better for dine in! The Xiao long Bao impressively still had some soup inside, and the stuffed Shao bing was packaged "unstuffed" to prevent sogginess. I enjoyed this unique dish that was both sweet and savory. The pan fried bao were also good but quite pricey for what you get, although it was nice that they let you do the half veggie half pork option. I'm sure it would be much crispier on the bottom if dining in. The scallop and shrimp was saucy and had a good amount of spice. The half duck was standard! The above meal cost us about $90 fyi. If I didn't like Dew Drop Inn, I would have started this review by saying "don't drop inn!" Yes, corny is what I was going for. But I did like Dew Drop Inn! I've been trying to come to this place for a very, very long time, but it just hasn't happened until now. Dew Drop Inn is mainly a (real, and not those Korean ones) Northern Style Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine, and no MSG is used! I know the owner, Charlie. He's a very nice guy and hard working. He personally purchases all the ingredients everyday for his restaurant and makes sure they're all fresh and excellent quality. Dew Drop Inn is a VERY small place located on the corner of Pensacola and Betetania St. They have a parking lot, but there's only about 8 stalls that are tight and one of the stalls is in the corner which is very hard to park. Additionally, there's a small apartment in the rear as well as other tenants in the same structure as the restaurant. And of course, the boss man gets a spot too! Hours are 5-10pm every day, and 11-2pm Wednesday to Friday. If no parking in the lot, you can park along Beretania St starting at 6PM on weekdays, anytime on the weekend. Another option is metered stalls on Pensacola. This restaurant is super small. There's literally less than ten tables. It's probably recommended to make a reservation or go early. When we went, there were two large parties of Japanese tourist! During our meal, we were the only Chinese dining! We started with the Boiled Dumplings with Chicken and Chives. Just nice, simple, well prepared, well wrapped dumplings. Most had really good taste, but a couple were salty. The Cold Drunken Chicken in Wine Sauce was decent. It had a really strong Chinese wine taste, however, the chicken meat didn't soak it up. I had to turn the chicken meat side down in the sauce and let it soak first. Other than that small inconvenience, the chicken was good. Firm and tender. Next was the Braised Fish Fillet with Tofu. This was the best dish! The fish was not your typical white basa fish!! They used sea bass! The fish was flaky and tender. The sauce was very, very tasty with a nice garlicky and savory taste. The mushrooms were reconstituted very well. An excellent dish! Lastly, we had the House Fried Rice. It comes with Chinese Sausage, Chicken, Shrimp, Egg, and frozen four vegetables (peas, corn, green bean, carrot). There was really good wok heat that gave it a nice smoky flavor and many bits and pieces of crispy rice. The taste was very good, and you can taste every ingredient. The only issue was the rice weren't all separated and too many clumped pieces. Overall, it was a good meal. Everything was fresh and good quality, and well prepared. The service was good. Definitely hard for one person to take care of two large parties. There aren't too many real, authentic, non-Korean Northern Chinese and Taiwanese Cuisines, so you do find many dishes that you won't find elsewhere. Tried this restaurant for the first time on a Friday. It wasn't too busy when we got in at 6pm with prior reservations set. Staff is friendly and nice! The food, however, is quite mediocre. Prices for all food is pretty reasonable though. My party ordered several dishes: Chicken & chive pan-fried potstickers - Good. A little salty and a little oily, but overall was nicely pan-fried and flavor was savory. Shanghai Pork Meat Buns - Good. Flavor was pretty good, but the bun gave off a "sweaty" texture. There was a lot of moisture pooling at the bottom where the buns sit on the plate, which made majority of the buns' skin an unfavorable soggy texture. Steamed Xiao Long Bao - Okay. Soup content and flavor was good. Pork flavor was okay. Dumpling skin and pork filling texture felt as if it was pre-frozen for a while. Orange Chicken - Great! Very solid orange chicken flavor, texture, and quality of chicken. It had a nice bite and even distributed sauce coverage, which I appreciate! Garlic Ong Choy w/ Lamb - Okay. Lamb meat & ong choy quality was good & cooked good, but veggies were slightly over salted. If the veggies had a bit less salt, the dish would've been more enjoyable. I appreciated that the dish was garlic-y, but not overpowered by garlic. Taiwanese Beef Noodles - Sub-par. Meat was cooked good, but broth lacks flavor. This dish really shouldn't be called Taiwanese Beef Noodles because this tastes nothing like niu rou mian from any part of Taiwan. Honestly tried this place initially for the XLB, but my party all ended up liking the orange chicken way more, haha. Overall the food we tried (with exception to the orange chicken) is not really worth coming back for. Restaurant seats at best 36 people so if you don't want to wait and you don't want take out, be prepared and make your reservations in advance. 2) IF you want a special dish; like may be a fresh fish? Request it when making your reservations and they will make every effort to deliver your request 3) IF anything you need to order the shaobing bao pockets; with chicken or with pork. Best pockets in Hawaii 4) Try to dine there from 6 pm for dinner. This way, you will have street parking on either Pensacola or Beretania Streets. 5) The price is right 6) BYOB; Yup! carry your own adult beverage and there is no corkage 7) Great place for a private party of 36 if you take the last seating of the night. The restaurant is tiny! And apparently pretty popular, all 8 or so tables were full when we went at 6:30. Luckily we thought to reserve a table, and we were seated right on time. The menu is huge so we took a while to decide anyway, and the waitress took our order a few minutes later. Food came out in a timely manner, all nice and hot. We got the shanghai pan-fried pork buns, szechuan spicy eggplant, sesame bread pocket with pork, crispy duck, tofu and century egg and house fried rice. All pretty good. I also got a cup of soymilk, which was fine but not as good as homemade. Eggplant wasn't spicy at all, could definitely use some more heat. A little lacking tbh. Preserved egg and tofu: straightforward, just silky tofu, oyster(?) sauce, and century egg. Was good! the pork pan-fried buns had a great filling and flavor! Amazing filling and crispy bottom, and the black vinegar makes it even better. But, it was a little oily and really heavy... we only ate 1 each and an order comes with 10. The fried rice was good too. It was fluffy, tasty had a little bit of everything in it and was a perfect size for the 4 of us to share. Duck was particularly good. Soooo tender. Really good sauce on the side. Sesame bread pockets were the winner! I haven't had anything quite like this at a chinese restaurant so I had to try it. It is always amazing to get to hang out in my home (Oʻahu) with my friends, but even moreso when they are foodies and take me somewhere I haven't been. Apparently this is one of their favorite places and I can see why. The orange chicken was simply to die for it was tender and juicy, and the flavor profile was excellent. It was sitting on a bed of orange slices, which at the end of the meal we had each ate one, and it was like candy dessert. We also ordered some little chive pancake, beef buns, and a beef and ong choy mix. I thought everything was tasty. The only exception was the beef and ong choi mix, which was overcooked and didn't have enough meat. It still tasted okay, but it could have been better. There didn't seem to be too much effort put into decorating or creating a particular kind of ambience, But it definitely had that much loved by locals hole in the wall kind of feel of an authentic place...and it was. To lend to that authenticity, I can't tell you that the woman who was serving us was not also, the cook. It may very well have been just like that. On one hand that's awesome, and I've been in lots of places where that has been the case and it was great. On the other hand she forgot our rice and brought it almost by the time we were finished eating. It ended up being no big deal because there were leftovers and the rice just went into the box, but it was just one of those things that perhaps if there had been a secondary server, something like that might not have happened. I used to love this place. But I think its increasing popularity over the past few years has diminished the quality of the food and definitely affected the service. Once, pre-pandemic, we ordered take out and they made us wait 45 minutes AFTER we arrived at the restaurant for pickup. This is after waiting the original 30 minutes they told us to wait when placing our order. We tried another time, again, pre-pandemic, this time for dine-in. Food was good but again, service was slow. They always seem to have only one person waiting tables and packing up to-go orders. So we gave it another go a few days ago, now that they are once again open for dine-in. We arrived and there were a couple of empty, but not-clear tables. The woman wait-person said just give her a second to clear one of the tables. So we waited and waited and waited while she served the other tables, put together a to-go orders and swooped in and out of the kitchen. Still we waited and waited. We ended up waiting close to 15 minutes for her to clear the table, which was just a 2-top with not very many dishes. We finally sat down and ordered. Food arrived quickly but lordy, it was not good. All of the food was really, REALLY salty. And for me to say that is a lot because I like salty foods. We ordered one of our stand-by dishes, which are the bean curd pouches. This was a disaster. The bean curds were dried out and hard, like they were cooked a while ago and just left on the stove. They were really salty and the sauce was congealed like little bits of jelly on the choi sum. With all the salt, we were so thirsty. We tried to get water but we just could not get the attention of the woman even though we were literally waiving our arms in the air. We finally got her attention and asked for water. But did we ever get the water? No, we did not. And we could not flag her down again. So we ended up pouring tea and waiting for it to get cold. It was a pretty miserable experience. I actually could not finish my dinner so we decided to just pack up and leave. She finally came by to see if we wanted anything else and we just asked for boxes and the check. They are so popular now, they really should hire more wait staff. We ordered take out from here and the food was oh so satisfying!!!! There was three of us and we ordered a beef dish, salt pepper shrimp, house fried rice, pork and tofu with sesame pockets and ginger chicken. SO SO SO GOOD! Service/Environment- we did take out but our food was ready quickly! Food- YUM! Just the right amount of saltiness! The pork and tofu sesame pockets were so different and so worth it! That was probably my favorite and then the salt and pepper shrimp was DELICIOUS. The shrimps were massive and so filling! Worth the $$$- YES! This was for 3 people and we had 2 more meals worth the next day for about $70? Definitely worth it! B Instagram worthy- all the food looked so tasty even though it was takeout! Food here is SO good, although I do recommend calling in to see wait times for take out or dining in. They are a small business so do take into consideration that wait times may be longer! They also have very limited parking so I usually do takeout! The shanghai pork buns are my favorite! Haven't ordered something and not liked it. Great place to check out and support! read more

Reservation is highly recommended here. They are busy and I saw many customers came by without reservation and turned away or told one hour wait. BYOB. Bring your wine and wine glasses if you want a proper glass or used their regular glasses. No corkage fee here. My favorite here was fish and tofu. Flavor bursted in my mouth as soon as I had the first bite. My second favorite was deep fried pork rib. It was so juicy inside, I liked every bite of it. Upon coming into the The Dew Drop Inn, the smell of rice cooking permeates the air. This restaurant serves northern Chinese style food. It tastes delicious! I ordered the mixed vegetable pan fried noodles. It comes with broccoli, mushrooms, snow peas, lettuce, and water chestnuts. The vegetables sit on top of a bed of fried noodles. Honestly, the noodles taste a bit hard. It lacks that chewiness that I expect from the noodles. This takes away 1 star. Dew Drop Inn does prepare a generous portion - family style. We ordered the green onion pancake as appetizers. The servers, whose family own the restaurant provide jasmine tea for refreshments. Customers can ask for ice water too. The menu features well over 100 items. All of the dishes look scrumptious! The menu provides a small dessert selection but delicious options. Come to the Dew Drop Inn for a Chinese feast. I tried my friends beef brocolli yesterday and he asked me what I thought. I thought it was super salty. He's said that he ordered before and it wasn't but this time it was almost inedible. I agreed. I think it was a different cook this time around. I know the chef/owner isn't always there so this time I don't know what happened. When I cook I always taste it before I let my family /friends eat it that way I know if it's good or not. Consistency is what good restaurants master. This is the only reason why I dropped the score to 3 stars. We've eaten here three times in the past week. We loved it every time until yesterday with the over salty beef brocolli. read more
