One star is minimum right? Zero integrity in sales department. I have bought more than 1 Harley at this dealership and went back to trade up. Instead of treating me like a valued customer they heavy low balled my trade in, acted offended when I showed them 5 different comps which proved their offer was more than 25% value of the trade in. Why? Why act like you're so much smarter than the customer, and try to steal. Seems like offering a fair wholesale number for the trade in and selling a new bike then moving the trade in for fair market value would be there win. This is a review of the Harley-Davidson Riding Academy New Rider Course offered at Desert Wind Riding Academy,. I wanted a course that trained on Harleys, so I chose this one. It was absolutely a lucky break; I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in riding well and safely, new or seasoned, and even if you don't own a Harley (yet). It has been decades, AND a couple of balance and memory damaging injuries since I have ridden, and it was not easy or natural for me to start riding again. My reaction time is slower, and I didn't remember much of anything about operating the clutch. I was terrified, but determined. This was head and shoulders the best possible experience I could have chosen. You can start preparing before the class, as Desert Wind Harley Davidson has a "jumpstart" motorcycle; a stationary motorcycle on which you can practice clutch/throttle/shifting with someone standing beside you coaching, for more confidence in operating the motorcycle during the class. This is an invaluable experience, and makes a huge difference. If you ask, the sales team in the dealership will also show you a mind-boggling variety of models, and go over which aspects might suit you well, based on your preferences. The staff in the accessory shop is amazing-all of the ladies I met are riders, and have priceless advice on what gear you need to ride your best experience. A tour of the dealership before class starts includes the service department. I was absolutely impressed with the extensive state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, and the level of commitment to training and expertise for the mechanics-this is where you would truly want to bring your precious Harley for the repair to keep it tip top . The class instructors , Jim and Greg, my first round, and Jim and Ken , the 2nd, were everything I could have asked for . Their insights and corrections were spot on, direct, and delivered with humor and compassion. The class material contains very little fluff, and good practical takeaways for physical and mental safety and preparation. The instructors foster an atmosphere of camaraderie and send a group text that allows for effective communication throughout and after the course; our class stays in touch , now, with invites to group rides , shared info and pictures of adventures. Be prepared! There is a lot of physical activity and information crammed into a very short time period, so you will definitely want to make sure you are well rested and hydrated for this class. The first time I took the class , I was shaky and exhausted after the first two days, and chose to opt out on the third day, and return to finish the class a different time. The instructors, and Mark Weiss, the Academy manager, encourage knowing your limits, and were supportive. I was set up to return for another class a month later. I followed that class to the finish, but did not pass the test after the class. I was advised to return for remedial training, and to retake the test. I am actually glad I failed that first test. I would rather fail, narrowly, than pass narrowly. I came back two weeks later, spent a little over an hour of private training with Mark, the Academy manager, and completed the test with a perfect score. I truly needed every bit of training I received, and I left with the impression that I had always been going to receive every bit of support that I needed . I would highly recommend this class, as well as the more advanced classes, offered, which I plan to take later. I cannot imagine that any other motorcycle safety course offered in the state would give you an experience to come close to this. I would insist that anyone I care about take this class, as a beginner, or a refresher course. Hints and tips: Plan ahead! This class can be brutally physical. There is not a lot of time to rest, or eat, and it is three long, physically and mentally active days. Make sure you are well rested and have had plenty of sleep. Bring protein drinks and snacks, or food that you can eat quickly. Water is provided; drink plenty, as you are doing physical activity outdoors. Have anti-inflammatories, and/or painkillers available, and consider taking them before the class starts, especially on the second and third days. Keep a notebook and pen handy, as there are things you will want to write down to remember later. Make sure you have all the proper protective gear; if you're not sure what that means, visit the accessory shop, those ladies will hook you up. Mostly, have a positive attitude. When you sign up for this class, you are really about to have an amazing experience, and they give you every tool to be the best possible rider you could be. If you choose this safety course, you made the right choice. read more

I took the basic rider course it was very informative course they covered a lot of different topics to prepare rider's to get on the road. My coaches Natalie and Luz were definitely the best, they kept the course fun all while giving us the knowledge we need to be safe rider's. Still refusing to help tow operators unload customs and stockers. They claim to be helpful staff and service. Well they are not at all friendly or helpful in the slightest. Scottsdale, BuddyStubbs, Chandler, even the new store in Goodyear on I-10 are much more accommodating than this horrible place. *************** Per the owner of my company we are to drop all bikes off on the side street (which does have an entrance to the service area) and not go onto the property until we are done. Take the keys to service dept and tell them where the bike is at and leave. My two custom bikes would never come here even for a grip exchange, combined over $100k, so tow-ops do ok. i went to desert wind this morning to sign paperwork for a new bike. having only communicated by phone I wasn't sure what to expect. I excited my vehicle and was met by 10 to 15 employee. Jerry saw me heading to where I didn't know. Jerry showed me the lounge and then it began. I started dealing with this little three ring circus on the H-D website where I picked out a Livewire, "reserved" it, scheduled some time to go look at it then got a few confirmation emails from some guy named Marcin that seemed to deceptively indicate that this would be a smooth process. I'm an incredibly busy guy who really doesn't have much time these days, I figured I could squeeze a couple of hours out of my busy calendar to get myself a new motorcycle and be out of there. Boy was I wrong. When I arrived at the dealership I was nearly run down by the typical herd of overly desperate salesmen, one of whom jumped to the front and asked me what I was interested in (this Marcin guy was nowhere to be found). I told him I'd reserved a Livewire on the website and was here to get everything taken care of. Instead of selling me a damn motorcycle in what should have been the easiest sale of the month he took me on a tour of the dealership which essentially amounted to, 'here's where you buy clothes, here's where you can buy parts, here's where you get it serviced, look at allllll of these awesome shiny motorcycles, here's the bathroom...' "SO......what do you think you might be interested in looking at today?" *facepalm* The following "demo" consisting of him fumbling around with the machine, struggling to get it turned on, navigate the menu or being unable to answer any of the basic questions I had about it was absolutely comical. He did manage to tell me that this thing charges on Tesla chargers (it doesn't) that it goes 0-100 in 3.5 seconds (it doesn't) and that it's got toooons of bolt on accessories you can just order and stick on there, like windshields and stuff (you guessed it, it doesn't). After about 30 minutes of that sad little comedy he finally gave up, sat me down at a little table and proceeded to start filling out a pile of paperwork with a little pen despite being informed twice that I already did ALL of that online. After another half hour of watching him run back and forth from office to office and hearing all of these guys go on about how I wasn't "checked in" I finally got to talk to a different salesman who seemed to have his crap together, got everything roughly squared away and started talking price, etc. With my only couple of free hours that week expended uselessly I had to head to work, so I put a small reservation on the bike so it doesn't get sold out from under me and told them I'd be back when I had some time to finish it off. A whole week of overly aggressive texts and emails later and having to tell these useless salesmen to cool their jets I finally picked the thing up after ANOTHER mandatory tour of their crappy dealership only to find out that they never enabled HD Connect or updated the firmware on the HUD before sending it out. I managed to update it myself, but it took the motor company two days of remote troubleshooting to figure out that the dealership screwed up the deployment of HD Connect. Once DW finally fixed that H-D techs had to spend an additional half a day deleting and recreating the account because someone at DW must have impatiently mashed the hell out of a submit button somewhere and inadvertently created 7 extra accounts for my VIN on their servers. About a month of happy riding later and I ended up with the OBC issue that's plagued a few of these motorcycles so I took it in for the recall. After a day or so with no update I called the motor company whom, after struggling with getting a hold of the DW service dept themselves, told me they were sending a part out and that it should get repaired over the weekend. The weekend came and went with no update from DW, so I inquired and was told the part hadn't arrived yet but it would be taken care of as soon as it arrived. The following Mon H-D Corp. called me to let me know the part had arrived around 9:30AM; apparently "as soon as it gets in" means something different at DW because at nearly 5PM no one even knew it had been delivered, nor did it matter because the genius service manager decided to give the only two Livewire techs there the same days off. It wasn't "fixed" until Wed, and that was pretty half-assed because when I got it home I had to take it apart and re-seat the top & rear cover to properly conceal the wiring and it still has the same error codes along with a few new ones. After all of this their joke of a service manager had the balls to try to intimidate me in the parking lot when I complained about what he laughingly calls service over there. Avoid this place like the plague! I've never dealt with this level of incompetence, laziness and perfunctoriness anywhere else in the world. They're constantly bragging about being the third greatest dealership in the country; *IF* true, either the bars between best and third best are pretty far apart with the latter set extremely low or someone at H-D Corporate isn't paying attention because this place is a damned travesty. read more

The girl at the front desk walked me over to the shirts and gave me a quick run down of what was where and left me to browse .. someone else checked on me asked if I needed help .. when I made my selection the cashier was super nice.. when I told her It was a gift she put it in a cool box with orange tissue paper and a black shopping bag.. Christmas is coming and I will definitely be back.. they have tons of cool HD things for lots of people on my list .. I checked into this dealership to test ride an iron 883 and everything went well until I got to the purchasing experience. I was happy at first when they offered the free tires for life, as that seemed like a great deal. We agreed on price and everything was going well but here is where I was mislead. First the free tires are ONLY if you perform every service through them. The first service quoted around $600 and $400 there after. They told me if I did any of the services myself it would void the warranty. Not true under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act! I wish I took my business to Harley Davidson of Scottsdale as they were much closer to my location, and offered a better otd price. I was attempting to get back into riding again after a previous motorcycle accident, but it turned out to be quite uncomfortable. Customer service was not what it should have been either. I tried explaining my situation and if they could offer a price to buy the bike back. After the first call I never got past the receptionist, I would get put on hold and told they will call back with a price later. None of the calls were returned. I later traded the motorcycle for a Camaro, due to the employee pricing and extra incentives for the trade. Got my hands untied and smooth sailing! read more

She made the place feel like it's were we needed to be and making a decision to purchase our bikes there a easy one. Bought a brand new 2023 Breakout from this dealership in March of 2024. I had a Jiffy stand part break off and could not get the jiffy stand back down to park the bike . Desert Wind HD told me this $222.00 part was not covered by the manufacturer's warranty . I went to another Harley Davidson dealer, where they not only ordered the part for me , but fixed it while I waited and covered the parts and labor In Warranty !! My bike was down for two weeks waiting for Desert Wind HD to get back with me ,about whether this jiffy stand was in warranty. They also forgot to sign me up into the Harley Owner's Group, which was supposed to have been done, back in March , when I purchased the bike from them new . So I will never bring my motorcycle back to their dealership for ANYTHING !! I will never spend any money on any merchandise or parts at this dealership . Ever. !!! The defective Jiffy stand tab was bent out of position when I took delivery of the bike . The T shirt they gave me , when I bought the bike ( with their logo on it ) is now used as a rag to clean the bike !!! read more

I have been to two other HD dealerships for service and my experience here at Desert Wind was so much better I had to write a review. My Service writer Adam was on top of everything all while communicating with me via text (which was way better than telephone tag or not getting called back). Carlos in parts totally came through on a last minute issue with cables and Matt the technician did an awesome job installing new handlebars and properly aligning the bike.
