    55+ omelet

Took me 7 years to visit. Located across from Duke Raleigh hospital this used to be an upscale area. Located next to a Days Inn the area is now more diverse. The place was jumping on Friday morning at 9:30. Families laughing, seniors eating, and friends hanging out. The heat was pumping, maybe a bit too much but it was 25 out. Food was fresh, piping hot and surprisingly tasty. They probably needed another server but the hostess kept the coffee flowing. Hard to complain like other reviews. This was an great breakfast choice. When comparing to i hop Dennys wins out.

Service ain't bad, the waitress was really nice. I wish I could remember her name but she was friendly and stopped by often to make sure we were doing okay. Everyone else looked like they were dead but then again it was 11:30 pm soooo it's understandable. Food was good tho, didn't take too long to receive.

I had a disturbing experience at this location today! Earlier this morning when I ordered and picked up my food the service was great, I even tipped the young lady at the counter. In addition, I went in later that day to bring my food in as one of the associates told me too when I called , while I was trying to eat. The first manager made it seem like "things just happen". Yes, I understand things happen but compensate your customer and have a compassionate attitude about it. Especially, one that is NOT being rude about the situation. I ordered a Cali Club sandwich with seasoned fries and a garden salad. While eating the sandwich, I unexpectedly bit into a piece of plastic that had somehow made its way into the food while being cooked. This was not only shocking and extremely unpleasant and disgusting , but it also posed a potential health risk. (This was the tag that the turkey meat obviously came in). The first manager lied and said she couldn't print me off a receipt so she went and got the GM, Christina. The managers had a MAJOR problem with me asking for a receipt. I patiently waited for the GM to come back out (approximately 10 minutes). Apparently, I was "doing the most ", was called "girllll", and was told "the girl should have printed me off one last night , I can't give you one." (in her words), by the manager Christina. Which resulted in me calling the police because she was adamant on not printing me one for my references, although she had already printed herself one. Thankfully, I had already gotten my refund, I just wanted a simple receipt because corporate needed the order number. This incident did not have to escalate at all. I've never had this happen to me in my LIFE. New managers are needed there! Both of them were extremely rude and unpleasant to handle business with. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of compassion and professionalism.

We had not been to Dennys in years and I didn't care to come back. I got the moons over myhammy, which was fine and the hash browns were good! The pancakes are nothing special and the syrup was what I remembered disgusting! Everything was just ok. Our service was great, quick, and the diner was clean, they even had a tv showing sports. Very casual, if probably go back if with others and try non breakfast items.

Dennys in the south is is way better than the PNW. Had burgers and really enjoyed them. Garden salad was fresh to. It was simple, but it was fresh. And the waitress Candace and hostess were very friendly and attentive .

I decided to try the crepe combo which was good but a bit too much vanilla for me. I miss the Nutella days to be honest. Service was good my only complaint was that I didn't like how the server kept putting her rag on the back of our booth seat. I get we were the #28 so it sits by the walkway. But I found it a bit unsanitary to clean tables and to save from having to walk a ways, you place it on the back of someone's chair close or not it still was gross to see. I tried to let it pass but she placed it on the seat back at least 3 times before actually putting the dirty rag away.

I've heard a lot about Denny's from my friends. Denny's was described to be as a wonderful, mysterious, amazing breakfast diner, that has amazing hash browns. Once I was told this bit of information, I knew I had to try it myself and see what the horrah was about this place. Me and MJ headed to Denny's last night to try out this little breakfast place, and boy were we happy. First, the interior reminds me of a cute little diner. This makes the restaurant feel welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. Anyways, let's skip to the good part. I went ahead and ordered two chocolate chip pancakes, two sides of hash browns (add cheese obviously), and a side of bacon. These hash browns were S-tier. If you don't know what that means, basically I'm just saying they were hella good! I would go back just for the hash browns, because they truly out did themselves for these. The bacon was good and crispy. But not too crispy, which is definitely a good thing. All you crispy crispy bacon eaters, I don't trust you! Just kidding, have your bacon, your way. Finally, I also got two stacks of chocolate chip pancakes. They were very good. Some of the better pancakes I've had. MJ got an Oreo milkshake, which was also delectable. If a restaurant has cookies and cream, you already sold me. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal. Not to mention, they have tempting crane games right when you walk into a restaurant. Not only can you have some of the best hash-browns of your life, but you may get lucky and get a prize. I enjoyed my experience tremendously.

I think Denny's is always on the top of my list when it comes to breakfast restaurants not too busy and the service is usually good. I did intentionally come in wanting breakfast but ended up getting dinner which is nice for the last minute decisions lol. This was my first time trying there dinner and it was actually good came out fast and hot. I had some pancake bites as my appetizer which was really good overall not bad at all for Denny's.

Y'all, why has it been so long since I've eaten here? I've been wanting fried chicken (yeah, I…read morecould cook it, but so much work), and then my daughter made herself a waffle the other night...........so I HAD to go. We got there around noon, and it was popping. I mean, it's a Wednesday and very busy, but no wait. We each got the chicken and waffles. My daughter had asked if they would give her regular butter, since she's not a fan of strawberries.............but she enjoyed the strawberry butter very much. I'm sure we could have split it, but nope, we each got it. Half a chicken, cut into the individual pieces, and that huge, fluffy, flavorful waffle with that nice scoop of strawberry butter. We brought our limited leftovers home, yes, we mostly ate our food. For a place with a pretty extensive, but not huge, menu, it is good. The chicken and waffles though are awesome. Our server was Jonny, and he was fast, efficient and pleasant. We hope to visit again soon, very soon.

Then, I moved inside to see what the delay was, and the host tried to seat me at the counter. Really? I'd been waiting 30 minutes, and you won't seat me at the empty table. So I declined and said I'd wait for my table. I never got a notice on my phone either, so what was the point of that system if you need to be inside the small waiting area to be called? I could see the open table, but I was not seated for another ten minutes. They didn't want me at the big table. Then it was interesting to watch all the staff walk by and ask who had my table. How do they not know which tables each person has? Someone eventually came by, asked if I'd been helped, and took my drink and food orders, since I'd been waiting quite a while. I ordered a half-and-half tea. I'm not sure she knew what that was, as she kept saying "unsweet". The first tea was half-and-half, but the refill was unsweetened. I went with the chicken pot pie, as that is what caught my eye. I expected a delicious dish, but what I received was disappointing. The ratio of the chicken, gravy and veggies was way off. I'd say there was enough low-quality processed chicken for three to four people, a little gravy and even less veggies. I had a bowl of processed chicken cubes with a splash of sauce, not what I had in mind. I usually skip the pastry part, but I ate that as I needed something other than chicken. I left some of the chicken in the dish. The waitress didn't even offer me a to-go box. It was that bad that I wouldn't eat it anyway. My check was brought out soon after I got my food. I don't understand the rush, but bringing the check early won't get me out any faster and lowers your tip. This was just a really bad experience, and I don't see myself returning. I have liked the food in the past.

The place was crowded but there was no wait. I got seated immediately at a table near a column in the middle of the restaurant and Christy came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink. She brought me iced water and gave me time to look at the menu. I wanted to try so many things and I was too optimistic about ordering 3 things and finishing them myself. Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.

The bones feel nostalgic, but the overall vibe is current and lively. It's the kind of place that feels familiar but still cool. Service Service is where things really clicked. Our server knew the menu inside out and guided us through it with confidence. Every recommendation landed. It also felt like one of those menus where it would be hard to order poorly. The Food The menu leans comfort food with a modern edge, and it's done really well across the board. We started with a Caesar salad with dill pickle dressing, which sounds like it shouldn't work but absolutely does. Bright, fresh, and just different enough to be interesting without trying too hard. The beet salad was also excellent, clean flavors and well balanced. Then came the pimento cheese with fried crackers. This might have been the sleeper hit. The crackers are dangerously good. Simple idea, executed perfectly, and hard to stop eating. For mains, the fried chicken was solid but didn't stand out the same way the starters did. The short rib pot pie, on the other hand, was exactly what you want from a dish like that. Rich, flaky, and deeply comforting. Our starter of roasted beets had an incredible blend of buttermilk blue cheese with white balsamic thyme, pickled pumpkin, and Marcona almonds. So yummy. Then my husband and I shared the Ricotta Gnocchi that we agree is the BEST gnocchi we have ever had the privilege of eating. So light in spite of a duck bolognese being the sauce. Fried rosemary sparked my home chef mind for future meals! We also shared the Brussels sprout upon Brittany's recommendation. One of the most unique preparations on Brussels sprouts ever with oyster mushrooms and a sherry cream sauce. A Classic Diner Experience in Downtown Raleigh…read more Anyone who follows me knows two things I love very much: breakfast and diners (along with other short-order restaurants). I definitely found a gem in Glenwood South that immediately reminded me of the classic diners I grew up with in New Jersey. For readers unfamiliar with Jersey diners: think a no-nonsense, sit-down restaurant serving breakfast all day, great coffee, generous portions, and a menu built around eggs, griddle items, comfort food, and attentive table service. Tucker Street Diner delivers that same spirit--just set in the fashionable Glenwood South neighborhood rather than along a highway. Tucker Street Diner is located within the Smoky Hollow mixed-use development in the Glenwood South area of downtown Raleigh. Smoky Hollow is a large, modern complex featuring retail, restaurants, Class-A office space, structured parking, and residential units. The diner occupies ground-level retail space in the office building at 421 North Harrington Street, right at the corner of the pedestrian promenade along Tucker Street. The restaurant is designed as a modern American diner with nostalgic retro touches--checkerboard floors and glossy booths--blended with contemporary comfort and urban flair. It clearly evokes classic diner aesthetics while catering to a diverse downtown crowd. The menu focuses on classic American diner fare: all-day breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, specialty comfort food, and blue-plate specials. Breakfast options include pancakes, eggs, bacon, burritos, and creative dishes such as breakfast burritos and open-face sandwiches with gravy. Desserts, milkshakes, and coffee/espresso drinks are also available. I visited early on a Friday morning during New Year's week. I was greeted warmly and quickly served a solid, classic diner cup of coffee (likely a medium roast). Even with limited office activity that morning, the diner still had a steady flow of customers. I ordered the chicken-fried steak with two sunny-side-up eggs, home fries, and rye toast. The steak was nicely breaded, and the white gravy--served on a separate plate--was rich and flavorful. The eggs were perfectly cooked. The home fries were cubed potatoes (different from the shredded style often found up north) and were very good. Large slices of buttered rye toast, topped with both grape and strawberry jelly, rounded out what was a very satisfying breakfast. Portions were generous for the price, and the overall value felt right for a downtown, full-service diner--especially given the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the service. The classic diner theme and attention to cleanliness extended even to the gender-neutral restrooms, one of which is accessible. The accessible restroom was occupied at the time, so I used the other; it was clean, pleasantly scented, and well stocked. In short, Tucker Street Diner feels like a Jersey diner dropped into a Southern downtown--comfort food, eggs, and gravy instead of biscuits--with a welcoming atmosphere and reliable execution. I left full, satisfied, and already planning a return visit.
