Famous Toastery, has become our "come back to" place after just 1 visit. From the soft bright inviting decor, the cleanliness, comfortability with padded seats, polite and attentive staff, the front of the house manager (i'm guessing) who was keeping operations organized, the friendly and great to talk to owner Larry, and right on down to the rewarding selections of food. It should be noted that "All items can be made gluten free". This place checked off our "boxes". My first observation after being seated, was their coffee machine; it's Lavazza coffee!!!! One of the best Italian coffees you'll find; that's all my family buys. The owner Larry, stated "people say there's 2 absolute favorites that people come back for, the coffee and............the bacon". We agree that not only is the coffee an obvious winner, but the bacon.....OHHHHH THEEeee Bacon!!!! I've recently completed cancer treatments, which has caused me to struggle with food, and found that my tastebuds are quick to alert me to high salts, nitrites/nitrates, msg, basically chemicals. Well, Famous Toastery was my very first breakfast out (2nd meal) in over 7 months and not 1 time did i put the bacon down; or anything for that matter. Nice hearty, meaty, non sizzle on your tounge bacon!! Due to my condition, i didn't "eggspect" to find much on the menu that i'd be able to enjoy but, once i saw the all time classic breakfast it was game on. The "First Responder", comes with 3 scrammbled eggs with cheddar, served with bacon and sausage. You can request "egg whites" for $1. Each item under the "Eggs" list come with your choice of breakfast potatoes, grits, or fruit, and a choice of toast. Along with this, i ordered the "Famous French Toast", which is 3 slices of Texas toast ligjtly dusted with powdered sugar. Ok, you ready for the syrup!?!? Real.....Maple.....Syrup. No high fructose sludge!!! Lastly, the orange juice. Ladies & Gentlemen, Famous Toastery squeezes their OJ, fresh to order! C'mon, How can you not start to love this place already? Secondly, we ordered the Meditteranean Quesadilla, which was on the specials menu. Wow, that was a delicious choice. Scrammbled eggs, feta, pepper jack, cheddar, spinach, onions, and roasted peppers inside a grilled tortilla, with a side of salsa and sour cream. This is not a flimsy, thin quesadilla. It's also not too thick, but it was juuuuust right. If you're not in the mood for breakfast, they also have sandwiches and wraps. While talking with Larry, i mentioned seeing they have a "Reuben" on the menu. Well, Larry peaked my interest by stating "they cook their corn beef DAILY...... in house!!!!!!!! Omg yesssssssss!! Also offered as a substitue, if you're not a corn beefer, is roasted turkey! I could keep going but, you've read enough if you got this far . I placed an online order for takeout hours in advance. I arrived at the selected pick-up time. This location is new and it was a Sunday mid-morning, but it took a while to receive my order (like 20-30 extra min). I wish they had anticipated this and limited online ordering. The dining area is small, however, the host said the kitchen was behind. The host was calm and patient. Numerous parties were checking wait times, requesting tables, and picking up online orders all at the same time. The host skillfully addressed questions and concerns, retrieved takeout orders from the kitchen, and seated customers. I had time to observe while waiting for my order. It was a hot day, so I was glad they had several chairs by the host stand to use while waiting. Once my order was ready, I left. I should have opened it up and asked for syrup as none was included. Everything else was accurate and tasted great. We ordered the shrimp and egg power bowl ($18), shrimp and grits ($15.50), French toast with bacon ($12), and Elite pasta salad with chicken ($16.50). We were greeted walking into this new restaurant for Fuqua and seated. Our drink orders were taken. I was thrilled to learn that only Lavazza coffee is served. I LOVE Lavazza coffee!! We ordered pumpkin flapjacks with a side of thick sliced bacon, a turkey club with chips, and a western omelette with a side of breakfast potatoes and rye toast. Each meal was very tasty and served hot and fresh out of the kitchen. We shared bites so each of us got a taste of all the meals. The consensus: outstanding! My personal favorite was the pumpkin flapjacks. These are over the moon delicious! The thick cut bacon is also very, very good! The servers work in harmony with each other making certain each diner is always taken care of a clear reflection on how manager Brian guided the team that he is a part of. I placed an online order and arrived around the estimated pickup time, only to find that it wasn't ready and didn't end up being completed until more than 20 minutes later. Initially, I thought it might just be an isolated issue, but while waiting I overheard another couple mention they had been waiting 20 minutes just to place their order with a waitress, and another guest was also still waiting on his online pickup. Unfortunately, the service didn't help improve the experience. I waited roughly 10 minutes before anyone even asked if I needed assistance. When I finally received my food, the quality didn't make up for the delay. The famous bowl and blackened Caesar wrap (with mac & cheese) were both mediocre at best. The mac & cheese lacked flavor, and the lettuce in the wrap looked old and unappetizing. I had high expectations given that it's a newer spot, but overall the experience was disappointing. If I could give it a zero star I would. This was strawberries and cream cheese stuffed French toast plate with a side of grits. First, the plate was clearly dirty around the rim. There was nothing green on the plate but yet green is in the rim. Second, the piece of French toast that has a possible bite mark was not touched. I have been here a few times, and had no issues at all. I was always welcomed by at least one employee upon entering. Service was always quick and attentive and the food has always been good. Since people have mentioned the poor acoustics, the owner has now installed panels to reduce the noise.
