The menu is a fish eaters dream nothing is off limits although myself and my wife were the only ones of a party of five to chose another avenue, I had the Ribeye Steak which was cooked to perfection and she had the Alfredo with chicken that was to her liking. Five stars to our server Lauren. She was very nice and had to keep apologizing for how backed up the kitchen and bar was. We arrived at 4 to beat the crowds but it still took three hours to have a meal. We did have appetizers and a party of six. Most were happy with their meals. Everything was in disarray, and run that night by children, definitely not trained professions, and definitely not ready for prime time (continuing labor shortage?). No wine glasses. No proper mixed drinks. Absolutely no modifications to any menu item. Waited an hour for food. No bread. Salad came out with dinner. No value even at $120 for wife and I. Unnecessarily a long night. P4 minutes ago NEW Wow! We ordered the small fresh seafood chilled platter and it was fabulous! Beautiful presentation and excellent equality! The colossal shrimp we ordered was a bit overcooked but the chef eagerly made a new shrimp for us and it was cooked perfectly! As mentioned by many, the view (sunset in our case) was spectacular. There are motorized shades that were lowered when needed and raised when not. The staff were all very friendly, overall it was a a very pleasant environment. The food however, was not all that great. I ordered the Captains Platter (shrimp, scallops grouper) grilled. It came broiled. Okay, no big deal, I like broiled too. Unfortunately, the shrimp and scallops were way overdone, to the point of being rubbery. The piece of grouper was okay, but it was about the smallest piece of fish I had ever been served. I don't need a huge portion , but a 3-4 oz filet would seem to be in line with the price and other grouper menu options. My wife had the Mahi, and the same comment applies. The fish was way too done (and she is someone who prefers her fish to be on the done side). I find it hard to believe that this is how it always is, they are newly opened and there are no doubt processes that are continually improving. I also should have been more open with my server, I assume this is feedback the management would like to have.. I really want to like this place, so I will try it again in a month or 2. read more

The only reason for 3 stars is that this place is beautiful with gorgeous views and our waiter was great as were the hosts. I had the triple tail fish and chips. The flavor was good but the fish was so dry I had to wash it down with a great IPA that was served super cold. The squash medley was almost cold and sliced in very differing thicknesses so they were either mushy or barely cooked. The fries seemed to be from frozen and lukewarm . At these prices one would expect much better quality. We started with hush puppies and they were delicious. My aunts coconut shrimp was very good as well as the rice pilaf but her baked potato was hard and also cold she asked for another and it was warmer but could tell it had sat for a while. The butter wouldn't even melt on it. The atmosphere was great until a waiter standing right by our table was aggressively and fairly loudly fussing with another waitress about her placing the wrong order on someone else's table. She was trying to respond quietly but he was relentless. It was very uncomfortable not only to us but the other patrons around us. I realize its only been open a few weeks but they have a long way to go to shake times out. Although our waiter was wonderful it was obvious he was still confused on most of what accompanied what dishes and was a little discombobulated on getting drinks and ordered out in a timely manner. The restaurant is very nice. I ordered the hogfish grilled and it was dry and very overdone. I should have known better. When they neglect to ask you how you want it cooked it is a red flag. Any cook should know it only takes a few minutes to cook a pc of fish. I think this is just a Pinchers in disguise. We were hoping it would be more upscale like the surroundings. read more

On Feb 4th. we had a reservation for 5:15 under the name Nadal for 4. We were seated promptly. It took a while to get drinks and menu but we were ok enjoying the beautiful night with friends. My husband and I ordered the Grouper Oscar. The fish was bland. It seemed to be previously frozen. The texture was not flaky. It was rubbery. The worst grouper I've ever eaten! My friend ordered the stone crab claws. They were mushy and water poured out of the shells. I ordered the Florida Cosmo. I was so watered down I'm not sure if there was any liquor in the drink at all!! Such a sad dining experience! read more

I have had several meals there and each has been very well done both from a presentation and a taste standpoint. The service was excellent and the food was good quality. It is not a classic five star restaurant as one might fly to New York or Chicago, but for a beach restaurant or a vacation resort restaurant it's definitely in that tier. We sat outside on the deck with refreshing breezes We all started with ice teas or Arnold Palmers and then looked at the happy hour seafood choices or the light lunch menu. Great sized seafood salads, a poor boy sandwich, onion rings and bc (again with the kinks) they offered us complimentary dessert. One salad, Ahi tuna (fresh and rare) the coconut shrimp (crispy and large (3) or the tropical seafood salad (with shrimp and scallops). We love this place. The view is great. we love the light lunch menu and $8 martinis. The manager, Mike, is always walking around making sure customers are happy. Our server accidentally thought I ordered blackened fish, but I ordered fried, which is an easy mistake to make because the sandwhich is called Black Grouper. I made reservations over a month ago for inside dining. We arrived and were led to the tiniest table against a wall outside a service entrance to the kitchen It was 62 degrees outside and all the doors to the outside dining area were open with the wind blowing into the dining area. It was too cold to dine and the worst table in the restaurant. We left without dining and we let the concierge know why, politely. We won't be going back. I have eaten here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. The food was delicious and no one in two large parties had anything to complain about. As a newer restaurant, there are some kinks to work out, we were there for long times both times I was in. It forced us to relax and enjoy the time together though! We eat out a lot down here, and it's not difficult to find a place that is good, very good or excellent. Well, this place was none of those. We were with visiting friends and had just been to the theater on a Sunday afternoon. We called ahead and they said they couldn't take a reservation but that they would get us a table as it wasn't that busy - so come on in. When we arrived we were told we could not get a table until 8:15, some 3.5 hours later. We explained that we had just called and drove over on the advice to come and we would get a table. They said no such call had been taken and questioned whether we really called at all. I showed them the phone with the number and time on it hoping that maybe another person would remember and verify that we were promised and it would be fine. The hostess (who later said she was the manager) said it was just not possible to get a table before 8:15 even though we could see open tables and people ready to leave and nobody there waiting but us. Very rude, especially when they questioned our calling at all. We are part of large dinner club that dines out regularly at various restaurants. Needless to say this one is off of our list permanently. We don't know if the food or drinks are any good but we know all we need to about the service - RUDE! We ended up at Phillipi Creek Oyster Bar and enjoyed great service, a waterside table, and excellent food. It wasn't as 'fancy' but we made a great dining memory there, which is just what we needed to forget the terrible treatment we received at Deep Lagoon. read more
