I ordered my usual coconut shrimp with Brussels sprouts and whipped sweet potatoes. Yummy! We topped this off with a piece of carrot cake. This cake is on another level. WOW! Wow. The best food we've had in this area. Although it rained all evening, the staff, ambiance, and food made this is a 10/10 experience. Food was very good, as always. Restaurant is always very crowded and either the staff or kitchen cannot keep up. I have been there at least seven times over 4 years and it is always the same. Very slow service, from the initial visit by the wait staff, to ordering drinks, to getting drinks, to the wait staff to come back and answer any questions, to them returning with their answers, to taking our order, to receiving bread, to receiving our food, to returning for any additional items or drinks, to bringing our check. Slow slow slow. Our server made comments several times about our order saying ridiculous. Not sure if that meant great, outstanding or if it was sarcastic when I didn't opt for her suggested upsell on a wine. Temperature in the restaurant is always on the warm side which makes the wait seem even longer We were in a back room in a booth. The table next to us was very close, people actually back their chairs right into our table, and their table had a tv suspended overhead. Not my preference of a great spot to eat, wondering when the tv will either drop on me or start up and blare in my ear. WOW! We had a wonderful dinner experience. Ate outside on the covered patio on a beautiful evening. We had a 5 minute wait for our table, not bad. A short wait for our server, Noah, to greet us. He was friendly and didn't miss a step. Drinks were good as were the oysters on the half shell. The restaurant was very busy and service seemed a little slow from the kitchen. I had the live Maine lobster and my husband had the Grouper grilled. Both were terrific as were the sides. Prices were very reasonable. I have not seen lobster on the regular part of a menu in years. A group of 5 of us had dinner reservations at Deep Lagoon on a rainy Saturday evening. We were seated outside on the covered patio. The table was a tight squeeze for 5; we had one person half way off/kind of on the corner. Majority of the group ordered from the summer specials menu because the options for the prices really couldn't be beat. I had the grouper Oscar and lobster bisque. The grouper was served over mashed potatoes and asparagus. The grouper was topped with crab meat and a hollandaise sauce. I thought the dish was very flavorful. I did find a crab claw/shell in one of my bites of food. I guess that's a sign that the meat is truly hand picked! The drinks were phenomenal and the table bread came out warm with delicious cinnamon butter. The views outside over the water were great and would've been exceptional in better weather. Our server was very personable and checked in with us throughout the duration of the meal. I'd recommend coming here to celebrate something special. read more

Overall 4 stars based on my experience even though the Yelp rating is lower. Came here for lunch on a recommendation and it was located by the Marine Max yacht broker I was visiting. They have bar, main room and outdoor seating located right at the marina. It's a perfect setting. Our server was very nice, the food was good, service was prompt and prices were fair. They specialize in seafood which is delivered fresh daily and you can order by weight. read more

The good: our server Caitlin was one of the best we've ever had. She was amazing. The view from the patio is so nice. Can watch boats coming and going up and down the inter coastal. If you come on a boat you can use the dock with red caps first come first served. The kids menu and the kids treasure chest was a really nice touch. The not good: The level of service from the kitchen was not as good as a level of service out front . Food took a really long time. We sat down at 1145am, did not get our food until 1pm despite ordering as soon as we could. Also, the clam chowder was really salty, fries were served cold. We want to love this place so we keep trying but just can't. The positives are that the place is beautiful inside and out and it has nice docking for boats and a very pleasant view. We typically sit at the bar. I can't count how many different bartenders there have been over the years but with the exception of maybe three times (out of more than 15-20), the service has been poor. Either the selection process is poor or there is a lack of training. This past week we had a young gal bartending. She was very friendly but could not manage the bar service and there were only 6 people at the bar. Our group of 4 was there to eat and drink. In nearly 3 hours, we could only get her attention for 2 drinks each. And we were sitting at the bar! She was busy filling drink orders for tables and visibly irritated that we flagged her down after 45 minutes of waiting for a second drink. We ordered 3 things off the happy hour menu and all 3 were terrible. Dishes that we have all eaten there before. The orange chicken was so over cooked, we couldn't even bite into it! We left after not being able to get a third drink - after waiting 27 minutes for her to bring the check we asked for. I kid you not. We timed it because everything else had gone so wrong. How does this happen while sitting at a bar when the bartender is three feet away? They need some serious management changes or we are going to see this big beautiful building up for sale. read more

It's been a year, so not sure what changed but the food was dry and overpriced, the service was terrible (we had to ask for our server to get us refills 3 times, and then finally another server helped us), and the prices were very high given the quality of the meal. We stopped into Deep Lagoon a little early on Christmas Eve, thinking brunch might be an option, but it turned out to be a seafood feast to remember! We started with the colossal shrimp appetizer--absolutely incredible! The shrimp were perfectly tender yet crisp, large, and sweet. For our main course, we indulged in The Big Chill Seafood Tower, and it was a showstopper: * A whole Maine lobster * Eight cocktail shrimp * Eight peel-and-eat shrimp * Two large stone crab claws * 4oz tuna tataki * A dozen Gulf oysters (served with horseradish cream & caviar) * Six chilled clams * Six chilled mussels Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. We spent over two hours savoring the seafood, enjoying cocktails, and soaking in the laid-back festive yet upscale atmosphere. Great flavor even without the dressing (which was a bit too salty). Ginger was FRESH which was a bonus! Mahi stacked salad - be warned there is a lot of blu cheese! I have eaten here twice and the food was great and great setting. Tonight I had a very disturbing experience. I had a reservation and arrived on time. I was showed to a table outside. All the outside tables had a covering over the screen but not this one. It was broken and by the way it was very cold. We tried sitting there and it was just too cold. We were told that was the only table and the next reservation was 1 hr 45 mins later. What was amazing was the total lack of concern of the hostesses. Just a kind of tough luck attitude. When we asked about the bar she indicated it was first come first serve. No effort to find us a place at the bar. No service recovery attempts. We found seats at the bar and had a terrific experience with the bartender who promised to create a positive exoerence and she did. You need to teach your hostesses some service recovery techniques. read more

OMG awful awful awful... the appetizer of Lobster & corn queso.... Disgusting.. I actually did not taste any lobster. Very few pieces of corn but mainly chopped red bell peppers . Then I ordered the crabcake sandwich with the summer squash medley, honestly if I could post a picture, you could see how very displeased I was. I counted 5 pieces of summer squash that wet so small along with 85% huge chunks of red sauteed onions along with the remaining bell peppers. Hey all for $26 .. the crab cake was so small, it was quite embarrassing that they actually allow that out of the kitchen. Great food and service. It can get hectic at dinner time. Great food with a view over the back bay. Definitely go for the outside deck and view. I had the spicy pasta dish and asked to have it less spicy as the waiter highlighted its pretty spicy. It was still a little too much red pepper flakes, otherwise we all had great meals. The spicy pasta dish really doesn't need to be that hot seriously. They have a great key lime too! read more

Deep Lagoon must be a popular spot for locals because when I went on a Monday night for dinner it was packed. We had a reservation so even though it was packed we got seated right away. First impressions were this was your average Florida restaurant with some seafood on display and a lot of seafood decor. The table we sat at had a big chip in it, so that was a bit odd. For the food, we started with some calamari and oysters. The waitress recommended some different oysters since they had at least 8 kinds to choose from. We enjoyed her recommendations and got two different kinds. The calamari was good but nothing special. For my meal I got a mahi thermidor. This was okay, it didn't have a lot of flavor and there were very few and small pieces of crab. If I am being honest the best part of the mahi thermidor was the rice. My friend got the cedar plank salmon. She really enjoyed her meal and said it was good. For dessert the 4 of us split the chocolate cake. The cake was good and giant. You could easily split this with 6 people after a meal. Overall, this was just an average seafood place with very friendly staff. Nothing bad but also nothing to rave about. read more
