Good sandwich I do like to order Italian sandwiches, and that's what I got when I stopped in today. Taking advice from my old review, I got it with double meat. Good advice, the extra meat added good protein volume. The sandwich was not very large, far from giant size, but at 10" it was ok. I did learn they offer two sandwich sizes, 6" and 10", so what I got was as big as the come. They bake their own bread and the bread was fine. At least for now they are only offering white bread. To say the place looks dated would be an understatement. I had intended to enjoy my sandwich at the place, they do have several tables, but after I walked in it looked so bad I changed my mind and got my sandwich to go. read more

The photos on yelp don't do this place justice. Me and a buddy stopped in for lunch and it was our first time trying the place. Guy in front of us said we would love it. Man was he right. The two women working were helpful and sweet. The craft and quality they put into the food really shows with the final product. I didn't ask for it, but love was the key ingredient. I got a chicken salad sub whole. The bread is freshly made every morning and it's perfect. I got my food to go but if I had eaten it there I would have ordered another before I even finished. 10/10. I have been coming to this sandwich shop for the better part of 30 years. The new owners have done a spectacular job at keeping the same feel and amazing great taste to this gem of a sandwich shop. Im 66 now and live in Lutz just north of Tampa. Go to Sarasota alot for family as most of us moved there from New Jersey. Have been going to A s since my high school days at Riverview. Still go to A s when down and its amazing that the sandwiches taste the same. Always get the italian and the bread is fantastic and the sandwich tastes like it did in the 70s. While on Vacation we stumbled on to the place, not far from Siesta Key. It was freakin awesome. I love the staff, very friendly and down to earth, the place was packed with locals in the area including a ton of work vans from the area. It is not a elaborate place to go eat, but if you want a good sandwich for a great price get down here. If you hate subway you will love this place, Fresh Baked bread and a special horseradish sauce. I ordered the tuna and the very wise hostess asked if I had ever tried their homemade tuna recipe before. Nope. Sample was given, and I gagged. The tuna fish is horrible, made with tons of miracle whip, no mayonnaise. Strong taste and definitely not for me. Catastrophe avoided. Changed order to an Italian sandwich, which was okay. Their name states "giant" and nothing about this sandwich was giant. Couple of slices of meat and cheese, some lettuce, tomato, onions and spicy peppers, which I promptly removed. The sandwich comes in a basket, cut in half with nothing else, not even a pickle. I found nothing on their sandwich that would indicate a larger than expected size, expect when I paid. It is definitely not the fanciest place in the world. I was expecting to order my classic chicken cutlet sandwich that reminds me of home. After seeing the menu, I came to grips with the fact that chicken cutlets were not available. I then decided to take a chance on the tuna sandwich. As I ordered, I was generously offered a free sample of their homemade tuna fish. They have used the same family recipe since the 1960s. This is not your typical tuna so the lovely woman who served us wanted me to try. As the plastic spoon entered my mouth, I was blown away with the flavor in just one bite. Overall, this is hands down the best tuna sandwich I have ever eaten and I strongly recommend this deli to anyone that is in the area. read more

The Italian that I ordered had a mere TWO slices of meat, ONE slice of cheese and tons of lettuce. Come on Man ! How do you expect to get a good review when your sub shop is so darn stingy on actual meats and Cheeses on your subs ? Publix subs blow this place away, as does nearby Piccolo's Deli in Gulf Gate. Toppings were fresh, bun was fresh but quality and quantity of meats and cheese is the problem lies. It had two different types of meat on it, ham and salami. This is the BEST sandwich shop in town. I've been coming here with my mom as long as I can remember. And she's been coming here since she was in high school. The bread has never changed, and that's what makes the sandwiches so amazing. They recently changed ownership, so they now take cards and have new subs! We are visiting the area from out of town, and wanted to try a local spot after a nice day at the beach. When we walked in, there was no one in site. An employee eventually came from the back and greeted us by saying "you are taking it to go right?". It was pretty clear they didn't want our business. We decided to walk out and try something else. My first impression is that the prices seemed high, the restaurant was outdated and not very clean, and customer service was definitely lacking. My friend had a Cuban that had one thin piece of see through ham on it. All together our lunch was $25.00. If you weighed our sandwiches at a rate of $10.00 per pound our sandwich would have cost .50 cents. We were ripped off.
