Obsees is by FAR the best sub shop in South Venice 41. Tastes, size great. Never disappointed. Nice folks.

Fresh, fresh, fresh delicious deli sandwiches! Great complete deli menu too from simple ham and cheese to spicy Italian. Plus, there are hot sandwiches. You can order on the menu too. You can find something on this menu that you're going to love. Bread is fresh and so are the deli meats and all the toppings from green pepper to banana peppers to lettuce, tomato and spicy oil and vinegar dressing you'll put together a perfect sandwich. We had two different ones the Italian with the hot capicola, which was perfectly spicy and loaded with meats. The second sandwich was a ham, cheese and salami with lettuce, banana peppers, tomato, onion, all the fixings and that hit the spot too. We had two 8 inch subs and nothing was left. We also had chips on the side And that added to making the sandwich a perfect lunch combo. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because parking is extremely limited and in the back. If you don't know this deli, you wouldn't know where parking is but if you drive around the back, you'll see a very small parking lot and an entry into the deli. Staff is friendly and super helpful if you're not sure what to get. The place was crowded at lunchtime on a weekday with plenty of regulars, they know a good thing when they taste it. You will always get a great sandwich here - without exceptions. Their bread is freshly baked not thick like other places - which is great. You get the fresh sub roll, but you are not filling up and a loaf that takes away from what's inside... perfectly done. Recommend asking for their sub sauce... it too is excellent and really takes it to another level. My kids love Obee's over any other place and I'd have to agree. You are not coming here for the "ambiance" because you won't find anything else but great sandwiches and friendly locals making them. read more

We stopped in after a day at the beach and these subs were delicious! We each got an 8in sub and the bread was perfect! We tried the Roast Beef & Cheese, Turkey & Cheese and 2 Italians. The subs were stacked with meat, cheese and toppings. Staff was nice and friendly as well. read more

Um, always aim to support local places but skip on by here. Staying in Venice for a night, we were looking for a snack to tide us over until dinner. Maybe the crew was tired and counting down the minutes until closing time? Plus, deli and cheese sliced to order. Con all meat and cheese sliced on the same machine. As a vegetarian, that is a a red flag for lack of food safety practices. Veggie sandwich has " double cheese" but the cheese is so thin it barely equates to a normal slice. Bread was very soft, all out of tomatoes, only peppers, olives, lettuce, pickles . It was only $8 for 2 8" sandwiches but the value was about $.75 . As we left, we noticed a new Italian market across the street housed in what looked like a former gas station. Maybe go there first or Subway! read more

While standing in line at Jersey Mikes, another patron advised us that Obees was the best and we should try it. So, we did. First of all, they are in a plaza with a bunch of other shops, so parking is quite tricky - depending on time of day, I'm sure. They were busy at lunch time and we waited a few mins to order. Ugh GIVE ME SOME OBEE'S! The bread is soft and supple, the meat is stacked a mile high, and the cookies are basically half-baked. This is always one of my first stops whenever I'm in town visiting Venice. Back in my day, high school students would get caught leaving campus to go get lunch at Obee's and more often than not, they'd see a teacher or faculty member there so it was an unspoken "I won't tell if you won't tell" word. read more

Let me start by saying..OBEES MAKES AMAZING SANDWICHES! There spicy bird is so good. But I made a BIG mistake today. I ordered there steak and cheese. Literally the worst sandwich I've ever eaten. It's dry..incredibly bland and rubbery. The meat has a very unpleasant odd taste. I really wish I've wouldn't have spent money on this sandwich. We have visited the shop in South Venice and thought we would try the one on the island. Looked closed up from the outside, but they were open. The guy working the slicer seemed annoyed that he had to actually take our order. Customer service goes a long way in my book, and this was definitely lacking. The sandwich was okay.
