We stopped in for lunch after being at the Venice, Audubon Society rookery. (yes you should go there.) It was a little hard to find in a strip mall, but look for the sign advertising Reuben sandwiches beside an ice cream shop. We were warmly greeted as we came in and told to see it ourselves. We soon had water and placed our orders. We both ordered the special of the day: any hamburger and a side for $10. We both got Patty melts - - I had fries and hubby had onion rings. I asked for my burger to be medium well which it was and hubby wanted, medium rare but it was a little more done than that. There weren't many onion rings, but they were very tasty. The fries were good as well. We took home almost a full burger. It's a nice little diner and you get what you expect you would at an establishment like this. read more

When visiting Venice last year, this little place was so good, we made sure to return during our visit this year. Today we enjoyed a Reuben and a BLT. Both are big enough to be shareable and they live up to their respective descriptions. The friendly staff and food skills definitely merit a return visit. Famous for their Ruben sandwiches often times selling 150 a day makes this a place to head out too. Primarily a sandwich shop they serve the daily lunch crowds a variety of dishes,Including NY style Corned beef and pastrami sandwiches , Philly Cheese Steak, onion rings Fries and assorted drinks. I had the Pastrami sandwich wife had The BLT and they were extremely delicious. Give these folks a try. Prices a little high but it is what it is. read more

Came here tonight for their $10 Reuben Sandwiches. Nice little restaurant at the end of a strip plaza. The tables inside even have tablecloths with cushioned chairs. The Reuben sandwiches were delicious. So we're the onion rings and tater tots. Service was spot on. We will definitely come back and try other menu items. This restaurant does not gauge with their prices like soooo many these days. read more

I liked this place ok. They didn't have the chicken parm sandwich available, so I ordered the mild Italian sausage sandwich instead. The sausage was smashed thin and more spicy than sweet Italian sausage is. The fries were tasty, though not hand cut. He said the pastrami sandwich was excellent. This guy knows how to make a sandwich! Whenever we don't feel like cooking (which is often) we get whatever their daily special is to-go since we live really close by. They're always friendly, the food is always ready, hot and plentiful. The only thing we wouldn't order again is the grouper reuben, we just feel like their other sandwiches are way better. We only ate inside the restaurant once, it's really nothing special inside. read more

Very clean! Very friendly staff! A nice little family run spot! This family formerly had a food truck that parked in the Lowes parking lot-and have now opened a restaurant at this location. We tried their self proclaimed "worlds best Rueben"and it was good! We would definitely get it again! We also had the crab cake sandwich and it was good as well! We went to this establishment a couple of years ago shortly after opening and loved the quality of the food and service. We went again today to get their special which was grouper wrap or grouper Reuben. A lot of eating establishments are looking to save money by not changing oil as often as necessary for good tasting food . Both our meals were not up to par, unfortunately, not looking to return soon. The decor is attractive and service was very good, several diners were enjoying themselves I am sure. Just not our day. We went for the Reuben special tonight. And it was delicious! Will definitely go back. It had a generous amount of corned beef and just the right amount of sauerkraut. For $10.00 and included a side. Every day they have a $10.00 special. The service was great our waitress was very friendly and mentioned that this Friday was their one year anniversary so everything on the menu will be $10.00. A great Patty Melt should have a 'crispy bread' on both sides and they deliverSoggy wet bread ruins both a Patty Melt and a Rueben but no soggy bread here. We went here right after they opened, day 2 or 3. You could tell right away this was a family run business. Waitress took very good care of us. My wife got a burger and fries and I had a corned beef sandwich with onion rings. When the food was presented, you could tell it was made with care. Plates were neat and sandwiches presented very well. Both were cooked as requested and tasty. My only negative were the fries and rings were frozen. I enjoy fresh cut so much more. read more

Local 941 offers a nostalgic diner-style experience with a modern twist that delivers exactly what it promises. From the moment you sit down, the menu choices and atmosphere evoke comforting memories of classic American eats. The tater tots, in particular, brought me right back to high school--only these were far more delicious. They had that perfect crispy exterior and a warm, cozy interior that didn't feel overly fried. The ambiance is quite basic with a dimly lit room, small tables, and simple black tablecloths, but I appreciated the friendly, homey service that tied it all together. As for the food, I tried the pastrami sandwich served Reuben-style, complete with a side of onion rings. It was full of flavor, though I found the pastrami a bit chewier than I prefer. Still, the taste and overall satisfaction more than made up for that slight texture issue. The loaded tater tots were also a highlight--cheesy, comforting, and surprisingly light for a fried dish. I also had the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich on a hoagie roll, which came with fresh, quality ingredients. If the bread had been toasted and a few pickles added, it would have taken the sandwich to another level. Despite these small tweaks, the flavors really shined through. Aside from the tasty food, the prices were very reasonable, making Local 941 a great spot for a casual meal. I'm already planning to return on a Thursday to try their burger special. Topping it off was-a cold draft beer. The staff were friendly and efficient. Our server, Sherry, heard my husband ask for my napkin and she brought over a stack with a smile. Cold beer and a full bar rounded out the experience.

A prime rib special worth remembering -- just not for the reason you think…read more I had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago, and the waitress told me I had to come back on Saturday for the prime rib special. She said it was so good and so popular that it sold out early, and encouraged me to get there early. So I did. I arrived about an hour and a half after opening, expecting this supposedly legendary Saturday special. The restaurant was maybe one-third full. My husband ordered a hamburger, which was thoroughly average. I ordered the prime rib. Unfortunately, the prime rib was anything but special. It was brown, and when I cut into it, the first two bites were so fatty that I couldn't eat them. I hadn't eaten anything else on the plate either. I simply told the waitress that I really wasn't going to eat it and asked her to take it back. And then came the truly memorable part. The chef/owner came storming over to our table and yelled at me, essentially demanding to know what was wrong with the prime rib and telling me that everybody was eating it and that it was good. Apparently, my taste buds were the problem. I wasn't rude. I wasn't looking for a free meal. I didn't make a scene. I simply didn't like the food and wasn't going to eat it. Somehow, that warranted being confronted and yelled at by the person running the restaurant. The waitress looked embarrassed by the entire exchange. I felt embarrassed for the restaurant. We paid our bill, and I still tipped the waitress on the full amount because her behavior wasn't the problem. And here's the irony: of the relatively small number of people in the restaurant, only a handful were actually eating the prime rib. So much for the "get here early because it sells out" warning. Maybe their prime rib is wonderful to some people. Food is subjective. But being yelled at by an owner because you politely returned a meal you couldn't eat is not subjective. That's simply bad customer service. A restaurant can have an off night with the food. What it shouldn't have is an owner who makes a paying customer feel unwelcome for having an opinion about it. I came back because I was told this was a Saturday special I shouldn't miss. They were right about one thing: I won't miss it again.
