Don't judge a book by its cover, you'll miss this place if you aren't looking for it. But trust me, you do not want to miss it. Plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and whether you sit inside or outside, you're in for something special. Now for the best part... the pizza. We eat pizza about once a week and it's my husband's favorite food. We brought our granddaughter with us, and pizza is her favorite too. She immediately knew what she wanted: mushrooms and pepperoni. Done. As for us? We had no idea where to start. We ordered the Wise Guy: vodka sauce base, sesame seed crust, spicy soppressata, ricotta, fresh basil, and Calabrian chili hot honey. We also asked our server for their favorite recommendation and ordered the Vodka-Roni: vodka sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, burrata cheese, and fresh basil. Were we dreaming? This is hands down the best pizza we have ever had anywhere in the world. New York pizza? Sorry... step aside. You've officially been removed from our top three. They are now #1. This was the most flavorful pizza we have ever eaten. I'm usually not particularly picky about pizza. My husband, however, is a pizza connoisseur. Going forward, every pizza will now be judged against these. We live in Polk City and only travel down this way every few months or so, but this place is now officially a destination. We would absolutely go out of our way for this pizza. And can we talk about the sesame seed crust? Where have you been all my life? Absolute genius. This pizza's legit!!! Broccoli Rabe pizza has so much flavor One of the most difficult drives home, without eating a slice. The spicy sausage being used on the pizza is spicy but has a bit of a sweet heat to it. It's complimented very well by the broccoli rabe with a hint of bitter and the smooth smoked mozzarella to bring it all together. The crust is perfect has a nice crunch but a perfect amount of chew. Our first visit to Capo Pazzo was certainly a good one. I'm going to say it is a bit hidden, located just off south US41 behind a gas station (Texaco?). Once you see it, a large mural of an Italian pizza maker holding up NY with the Italian flag splashed in the background, you know you've arrived. We were greeted even before we reached the door and offered a choice of dining inside or outdoors. They have a large outdoor area that is shielded from the parking lot, nice, but we opted to sit inside for some a/c. Our server was right over and got us started with drinks while we looked over the menu. She was so nice, attentive, helpful, and upbeat for the entire time we were there, a real pleasure. As for the food, we decided to split their Greek Salad and a Prosciutto Arugula 12" pizza. They offer both 12 and 18" pies. This was not the pizza I would have selected, I'm more a Meat Lovers Supreme carnivore, but it was my wife's choice tonight. I thought the salad was pretty standard, lots of Feta cheese and a generous amount of dressing in a container. My wife left me all the red onion slivers, maybe not her best decision, and took almost all of the olives. The salad was still fine, lots of green. Our pizza was also brightly green, what with all the arugula on top. Like more salad. But underneath was an excellent pizza crust, like they describe on their menu with a bit of NY char. While I missed all the greasy meat, the prosciutto was very flavorful, a top of the line ingredient. A hint of truffle oil added to the mix and pieces of a hard Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano) added more. I have to admit, it was a pretty good pizza. read more

Hidden gem in Sarasota but thank goodness for Yelp! We ordered the 12" Donnie Brasco and throughly enjoyed the spicy pepperoni and Italian sausage with nice crusty crunchy dough. AAA+++ I enjoyed the beet salad I added the chicken cutlet, it was as a nice big salad. The owner Chris served us and he was very friendly, we enjoyed talking to him. It's like going back to New Jersey or New York. Pizza like back home, in Bayonne . The owners are present from the beginning to the end. Insuring that their customers are happy and satisfied. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is like Nona's own . All in all whether you are there to pick up a pizza or have a sit down dinner with a good bottle of Red Wine. It's that kind of place. The people across from us asked me if my crust was hard and I said yes. So I wasn't a fan of the pizza or the toppings. My friend back in NY ,who owns a very popular pizza restaurant, told me there isn't enough air bubbles in the dough when this happens. MMy granddaughter rated the ravioli as so so. Found this gem and have dined here twice since arriving in Sarasota. Service is both friendly and efficient here. On the first occasion we ordered Vodka Pasta and Chicken Parm. I quickly discovered that I love their Vodka Pasta Sauce and would order the Chicken Parm with that sauce the next time I was in the mood for pasta. Last night we enjoyed a NY Style Pizza with Black Olive and Bacon. We ordered it "medium char" and it was just perfect. There is always great Pizza to be had in Florida with all the East Coast transplants/retirees. We have always loved the food here in fact, we drive 2.5 hours just for the pizza and knots. That's why this experience was so incredibly disappointing. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was completely overshadowed by the service. Our server, Melissa, made the entire experience feel negative from start to finish. We had to repeatedly ask for basic things like water refills and even the alcohol menu. Our pizza came out before all of our appetizers, which felt disorganized and rushed. When we asked if the pizza could be made half-and-half, her response was dismissive: "It's busy, so..." with no real attempt to accommodate or explain. What was most concerning was her reaction to an allergy mentioned at the table. Instead of showing care or taking it seriously, she shrugged and said, "Well, if it's anaphylactic..." The lack of concern and professionalism in that moment was honestly shocking and felt very disrespectful. To top it off, when the check came, it was not split and she hadn't asked how we wanted it handled. When we politely asked if it could be split, she rolled her eyes and said, "Can you guys just Zelle each other?" which was incredibly unprofessional. The food was, as always, great but the service completely ruined the experience. It's really disappointing to say that after being loyal customers who go out of our way to come here, I no longer feel any desire to return. read more

When I tried to address it I was given a horrible attitude and rushed and told they don't need my business. We got a build your own cheese for the kids and a buffalo chicken pizza for us . We also ordered a cup of marinara sauce and cup of ranch sauce. A truly hidden gem in the Sarasota area. And thanks to my seven year old nephew, this is a new local favorite of ours. We came to celebrate his birthday at his favorite pizza joint. And a celebration it was. It's a bit off the beaten path with plenty of parking. The outdoor area is a vibe in itself. With plenty of seating, beautifully decorated and there is even plans of expanding with the addition of a tv and bar area. Now, the reason we're all here; the pizza. If I could give this place six stars I would! Always skeptical of Italian down in Florida but these folks have it figured out. Went with my wife on a Thursday night for some food. Servers and workers couldn't have been any nicer, introduced themselves to us and stated they were from Long Island upon hearing we were visiting from CT. We started out with the Arancini for an app, they give you 3 delicious balls in a bowl with their tomato sauce which is to die for. One of the best sauces I've had in quite some time, drooling thinking about it. We also got the Dom Parmigiana to share and they even gave us an extra piece of cutlet at no charge. Cutlet was cooked perfectly, crispy and golden brown along with some rigatoni pasta. Absolutely love this place, Sarasota is lucky to have them! read more

I stopped to grab a pizza when I arrived in Florida, as always,after I've gone to the grocery store for all I need ,for my Condo for the week. I'm usually tired by this time ,and not in a really great mood, but I have to say the entire staff here was so fun and engaging,It really had a positive effect on me !not only that ,the pizza was delicious. I got the NY Style pepperoni. I had two pieces that night on my patio, enjoying a rain storm ,and then was easily able to warm a few pieces for the beach (in the oven in foil for about 15 minutes )and they were as delicious as my first pieces of this pizza. There are a few comfortable tables inside , and a small seating area ,outside .it looks like they have great pasta, desserts, and salads , as well. This is definitely my favorite new pizza spot when visiting the Key! The crust is perfectly chewy and I love the sauce; just the right amount! Order and enjoy!! read more
