Our first visit to Capo Pazzo was certainly a good one. I'm going to say it is a bit hidden, located just off south US41 behind a gas station (Texaco?). Once you see it, a large mural of an Italian pizza maker holding up NY with the Italian flag splashed in the background, you know you've arrived. We were greeted even before we reached the door and offered a choice of dining inside or outdoors. They have a large outdoor area that is shielded from the parking lot, nice, but we opted to sit inside for some a/c. Our server was right over and got us started with drinks while we looked over the menu. She was so nice, attentive, helpful, and upbeat for the entire time we were there, a real pleasure. As for the food, we decided to split their Greek Salad and a Prosciutto Arugula 12" pizza. They offer both 12 and 18" pies. This was not the pizza I would have selected, I'm more a Meat Lovers Supreme carnivore, but it was my wife's choice tonight. I thought the salad was pretty standard, lots of Feta cheese and a generous amount of dressing in a container. My wife left me all the red onion slivers, maybe not her best decision, and took almost all of the olives. The salad was still fine, lots of green. Our pizza was also brightly green, what with all the arugula on top. Like more salad. But underneath was an excellent pizza crust, like they describe on their menu with a bit of NY char. While I missed all the greasy meat, the prosciutto was very flavorful, a top of the line ingredient. A hint of truffle oil added to the mix and pieces of a hard Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano) added more. I have to admit, it was a pretty good pizza. read more

We stopped in Capo Pazzo as the first stop of our six stop bolognese tour of Sarasota. My daughter LOVES bolognese! Although the bolognese was good, the pizza stole the show. Capo Pazzo's pizza might be the best I've ever eaten. Really, in my whole life! read more

It's like going back to New Jersey or New York. Pizza like back home, in Bayonne . The owners are present from the beginning to the end. Insuring that their customers are happy and satisfied. The crust is thin and crispy, the sauce is like Nona's own . All in all whether you are there to pick up a pizza or have a sit down dinner with a good bottle of Red Wine. It's that kind of place. The rumor is that they are going to expand their seating and add a bar. I highly recommend Capo Pazzo. read more

We ate here with our grandchildren tonight. The Greek salad, the garlic knots and the Ziti were liked The pizza crust was very hard. The people across from us asked me if my crust was hard and I said yes. So I wasn't a fan of the pizza or the toppings. My friend back in NY ,who owns a very popular pizza restaurant, told me there isn't enough air bubbles in the dough when this happens. MMy granddaughter rated the ravioli as so so. My wife didn't like her baked Ziti. The service was good. We ate outside which was very pleasant. read more

First time in this area . My baby wanted pizza . Capo Pazzo came up on the search with a high rating and some good reviews so we went ahead and ordered. We got a build your own cheese for the kids and a buffalo chicken pizza for us . We also ordered a cup of marinara sauce and cup of ranch sauce. The pizza crust was burned , the pizza wasn't too tasty, and when I went to give my child marinara sauce, it turned out to be a cup of hot sauce. Not the best experience. read more

We have always loved the food here in fact, we drive 2.5 hours just for the pizza and knots. That's why this experience was so incredibly disappointing. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was completely overshadowed by the service. Our server, Melissa, made the entire experience feel negative from start to finish. We had to repeatedly ask for basic things like water refills and even the alcohol menu. Our pizza came out before all of our appetizers, which felt disorganized and rushed. When we asked if the pizza could be made half-and-half, her response was dismissive: "It's busy, so..." with no real attempt to accommodate or explain. What was most concerning was her reaction to an allergy mentioned at the table. Instead of showing care or taking it seriously, she shrugged and said, "Well, if it's anaphylactic..." The lack of concern and professionalism in that moment was honestly shocking and felt very disrespectful. To top it off, when the check came, it was not split and she hadn't asked how we wanted it handled. When we politely asked if it could be split, she rolled her eyes and said, "Can you guys just Zelle each other?" which was incredibly unprofessional. The food was, as always, great but the service completely ruined the experience. It's really disappointing to say that after being loyal customers who go out of our way to come here, I no longer feel any desire to return. read more

Found this gem and have dined here twice since arriving in Sarasota. Service is both friendly and efficient here. On the first occasion we ordered Vodka Pasta and Chicken Parm. I quickly discovered that I love their Vodka Pasta Sauce and would order the Chicken Parm with that sauce the next time I was in the mood for pasta. Last night we enjoyed a NY Style Pizza with Black Olive and Bacon. We ordered it "medium char" and it was just perfect. There is always great Pizza to be had in Florida with all the East Coast transplants/retirees. Was scheduled pickup at 5:00PM - - - was not even started when we arrived promptly. Annoying since when you order you get the choice of the "TIP" you are expected to include. Not sure what we paid the "TIP" for since it wasn't ready. HOWEVER The Pizza was fine, good crust and the sauce was a little differently flavored than what we are used to but it was tasty. read more

Ordered the hot honey Sicilian Pan Pep pizza , another pie NY style half cheese half pep wings and some rolls. The pizza was still hot when I got back to my room and was delicious. Ordered the Pineapple Paradise online at their website. When I arrived, I had to wait a few minutes while it cooked but I was asked if I wanted a beer while I waited. When I got the pizza home, it tasted wonderful. White pizza with plenty of pineapple and ham. 5/5 will definitely order from here again. The location is behind the NUVU gas station on US 41 / S Tamiami trail. Not much ambience but it is very much like a New York Italian family owned Pizzeria. It's a good thing. If I could give this place six stars I would! Always skeptical of Italian down in Florida but these folks have it figured out. Went with my wife on a Thursday night for some food. Servers and workers couldn't have been any nicer, introduced themselves to us and stated they were from Long Island upon hearing we were visiting from CT. We started out with the Arancini for an app, they give you 3 delicious balls in a bowl with their tomato sauce which is to die for. One of the best sauces I've had in quite some time, drooling thinking about it. We also got the Dom Parmigiana to share and they even gave us an extra piece of cutlet at no charge. Cutlet was cooked perfectly, crispy and golden brown along with some rigatoni pasta. Absolutely love this place, Sarasota is lucky to have them! read more

I stopped to grab a pizza when I arrived in Florida, as always,after I've gone to the grocery store for all I need ,for my Condo for the week. I'm usually tired by this time ,and not in a really great mood, but I have to say the entire staff here was so fun and engaging,It really had a positive effect on me !not only that ,the pizza was delicious. I got the NY Style pepperoni. I had two pieces that night on my patio, enjoying a rain storm ,and then was easily able to warm a few pieces for the beach (in the oven in foil for about 15 minutes )and they were as delicious as my first pieces of this pizza. There are a few comfortable tables inside , and a small seating area ,outside .it looks like they have great pasta, desserts, and salads , as well. A truly hidden gem in the Sarasota area. And thanks to my seven year old nephew, this is a new local favorite of ours. We came to celebrate his birthday at his favorite pizza joint. And a celebration it was. It's a bit off the beaten path with plenty of parking. The outdoor area is a vibe in itself. With plenty of seating, beautifully decorated and there is even plans of expanding with the addition of a tv and bar area. Now, the reason we're all here; the pizza.
