I'm reminded of the Billy Joel song Piano Man..."and the regular crew shuffles in,,," Every time I've been at Shaners there's been a steady stream of those taking out and those dining in. And while the take out is mostly pizza, this dining in seem to consume everything on the menu. Now I'm not going to suggest this is the world's best pizza, you've likely already established that place in your own mind. Some will say the crust is too thin or they slice it in a weird way , but damn it's good pizza. A small supreme with anchovies is the winning ticket for me. Ambiance:,,,it's a crowded pizza joint. Prices are most reasonable. Service is friendly... sometimes fast, sometimes slow. be Italian: talk, drink and eat...be happy.

Service is good, pizza AMAZING. We drive about an hour for this magically thin, tasty, cheesey pizza. Never disappoints. Closest to Pequads, Nick &Vitos and Santucci's from Chicago. Lots of baseball memorabilia from Shane's past.

Greek Salad

An excellent pizza I was finally able to convince my wife we should go to Shaner's, she's always concerned I will overeat when it comes to pizza. I definitely did. There were 3 of us and we ordered a large Greek Salad and a large Shaner's Favorite pizza to share. Shaner's had expanded since our last visit, which was a few years ago, and now have an additional area with about 10 booths and tables. The walls are proudly filled with baseball items and there are TVs. The place was busy but our wait was under 10 minutes before we were seated. After we ordered we got the salad in just a few minutes. It's a very large salad, the spoons shown in my photo are serving spoons. This would be a meal for one person and a very good start for three. Once we were done the pizza arrived. It smelled so good. Cut in squares it was easy to just keep getting more as you finish what you have, making it hard for wives to track how much a husband is eating. It was delicious, best pizza I've had in a long time. With a thin crust it put the focus on the toppings, the small size of the squares made what would otherwise be very floppy slices easy to handle. A Shane's Favorite pizza has pepperoni, sausage, red onions, and mushrooms. I should mention Shaner's offers more than just pizza. They used to not be open for lunch but they are now. I hope we return soon.

There are not enough stars to rate this experience. Card tricks, fast service, amazing food, and great atmosphere. The wings are incredible, as well as the thin crust pizza. Make sure to try the hot honey! We will be returning--potentially tomorrow night.

SMALL Caesar salad

Let's begin with a warm welcome from the manager on duty. The inside has been updated since our last visit. Still has a full bar, but the seating has been expanded with the next room full of 6 booths and 5 tables. It really is nice to not walk into people seated by the doorways. The expansion was really needed. The menu has salads and pizzas. There are a couple of entrees offered with either spaghetti or penne pasta. Let's make no mistake, pizzas are the stars on the menu! We begin with a small Caesar salad. The salad is generous, fresh, and delicious. One small salad is perfect for 2 to share. The large salad is really huge and perfect for 4 people to share. The pizza is thin crust, but can hold our toppings.Truly enjoyed the crispy crust and it was fully cooked. My only comment would be the sauce could have a bit more flavor. It seemed plain tomato sauce. A bit more seasoning in the sauce would have been great. I did enjoy Chicago style cut, which for a thin pie, it's easier to eat. We got the medium, it was served hot, and we could not finish it. Lunch tomorrow awaits. Servers are friendly and they know their regulars. For newbies, don't worry, the servers will guide you and make menu and drink suggestions. The crowd on this Sunday were mostly couples enjoying a cold beer and a hot pizza. Nice relaxed and reasonably priced restaurant.

My husband and I are at shanner's Pizza on the 17th of September and both fell ill. We contacted the health department and this was their findings. I NOW understand why we were sick. What's really discouraging is this restaurant pays/rewards customers for filling their reviews with only 5 stars. Considering this restaurant has had endless and I mean endless violations and has been shut down more than once it's clear this restaurant is doing everything their power to deceive potential customers.... My original review was removed from Google. Thankfully yelp works a little harder to keep true reviews up and viewable.if you caullue your safety and health I HIGHLY recommend staying clear of this place

I got a large sausage pie from Shaners to go. I needed something light, so I figured an ultra thin crust (as advertised by the restaurant) would go down the gullet easily. Definitely not false advertising; the crust is extremely thin. It's so thin my sugars didn't even spike. My body didn't know I was consuming bread. The outer pieces of the pie were a four star, but the inside pieces were just too flaccid and floppy. To make a great thin crust pizza, the whole pie has to be crispy, not just the outer pieces. I effortlessly ate an entire large by myself (which is normal for me, god forbid I turn into a pre diabetic instead of having full blown diabetes) but there's so little crust you need an entire pie per person to feed people. For me I need two, but I'm probably the exception.

Pepperoni and sausage pizza.

Came by to say hello to Pete. He wasn't here but we decided to have a pizza and a beer. Trish is a great bartender. Loved the pizza too. They play good music too.

The pizza is one the best in Sarasota. The place is small but the staff is very friendly and hospitable. I've gone back a couple times.

Fairly big venue with plenty of seating inside and and outside as well. The long fully stocked outdoor bar in the back is flanked by the Range. Typical Florida weather, its much cooler inside with the AC than outside. We came here to grab a bite to eat and hit the driving range for a bit, however we never got around to the driving range. #TavernGrub: ~ STARTERS: DELUXE NACHOS - 2/5 Massive plate of Nachos that were OK. There were a lot of chips on the plate. It definitely needed more toppings and they skimped on the Ground Beef. ~ 6 PIECE WINGS w Nashville Hot Sauce - 3/5 Your standard Chicken wings with "Nashville Hot Sauce." The Wings were OK, the sauce wasn't spicy, it had a warm mouthfeel and didn't linger. ~ BUFFALO CHICKEN PIZZA - 4/5 We were impressed by the pizza. This was similar to a NYC thin crust. Good flavor with an excellent crust. They could have added more chicken. We found the food to be OK, nothing outstanding, just your standard Bar food, some good and some not so good. I'd sit inside next time.

Our first visit to Capo Pazzo was certainly a good one. I'm going to say it is a bit hidden,…read morelocated just off south US41 behind a gas station (Texaco?). Once you see it, a large mural of an Italian pizza maker holding up NY with the Italian flag splashed in the background, you know you've arrived. We were greeted even before we reached the door and offered a choice of dining inside or outdoors. They have a large outdoor area that is shielded from the parking lot, nice, but we opted to sit inside for some a/c. Our server was right over and got us started with drinks while we looked over the menu. She was so nice, attentive, helpful, and upbeat for the entire time we were there, a real pleasure. As for the food, we decided to split their Greek Salad and a Prosciutto Arugula 12" pizza. They offer both 12 and 18" pies. This was not the pizza I would have selected, I'm more a Meat Lovers Supreme carnivore, but it was my wife's choice tonight. I thought the salad was pretty standard, lots of Feta cheese and a generous amount of dressing in a container. My wife left me all the red onion slivers, maybe not her best decision, and took almost all of the olives. The salad was still fine, lots of green. Our pizza was also brightly green, what with all the arugula on top. Like more salad. But underneath was an excellent pizza crust, like they describe on their menu with a bit of NY char. While I missed all the greasy meat, the prosciutto was very flavorful, a top of the line ingredient. A hint of truffle oil added to the mix and pieces of a hard Parmesan cheese (Parmigiano Reggiano) added more. I have to admit, it was a pretty good pizza.

We stopped in Capo Pazzo as the first stop of our six stop bolognese tour of Sarasota. My daughter…read moreLOVES bolognese! Although the bolognese was good, the pizza stole the show. Capo Pazzo's pizza might be the best I've ever eaten. Really, in my whole life!
