Charlie the manager was very unprofessional and childlike. My kids were playing and having fun and laughing maybe a little too loud. Charlie the manager aggressively walks up and uses both hands to gesture and point at the "KIDS SUPERVISION" sign. He screams "I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE OBVIOUS." I picked a good day to visit Evie's, today (Thursday) was Burger Day. For $8 you get a burger with lettuce, tomato, and onion plus a side. I added cheese for an extra buck and picked their house-made chips as my side. The Angus burger was very good, tasty, and the chips excellent. Each day during the week is a special day of one thing or another. In a hurry? It only took 6 minutes from the time I ordered my food until it was sitting in front of me. Evie's actually has a pretty large menu, offering pizzas, sandwiches, a list of salads, several starters, and a few miscellaneous items. They also have a pretty large number of TVs. I've known this place for many years and it's hard to describe how I feel about it. It has so much suburban charm - with it having many games for the family and food. It really is a kinda local mediocre Chuck E. Cheese. The place is huge with a driving range, mini putt, arcade, ice cream parlor, restaurant, car wash, and other games. Really great to watch sports and entertain the kids. But you know it's mediocre - which adds the charm. Mozzarella sticks were not crispy but that's fine. Pizza was actually not bad, just a little greasy but that's fine. This place does a lot and I think they're an example of quantity over quality and honestly I'm grateful that this place as an option exists. Sometimes I don't need to get the best chicken quesadilla - I just want to be at a local sports bar surrounded by energy and loud noises. The checks were completely messed up, and when questioned about it, the waitress turned and started calling one person in our party names for questioning the bill. I have given this place a try several times over the last two years. The bad: The service is still mediocre at best, regardless of where you sit. Inside, the staff talks to each other more than customers. Outside, the service is better but not much personality overall. The food is just OK. The chicken dip isn't worth it. It tastes like mushed chicken with taco seasoning and sour cream. The golf range is half sand and looks like no one has done anything to it in over a year. I have never seen a manager make any type of rounds to ask how things are going, help staff, or even help with changing channels on the TV. One thing is consistent... the staff has favorites for their customers, and they get served first. Staff also takes shots with each other behind the bar. This place has the potential to be awesome with a big overhaul in the day-to-day, but hard to think that will happen. Basic bar food. Service was alright, we ordered onion rings (which tasted like they were frozen, noting special) which they forgot, and we had to ask for them again. I ordered a mango margarita, but they brought me a regular one. I don't waste food, or tequila, and I like regular margaritas, so it wasn't a big deal. But it's nice to get what you order. The driving range T boxes are very run down and the golf balls are mostly worn. Again, a lot of potential but an update/TLC would benefit and make this a better destination for the folks of Sarasota.
