Every single Thursday, without missing a week, we've chosen this restaurant for our date night. We typically spend $150-$200 per visit, sometimes even coming twice in the same week. Unfortunately, what was once a place we genuinely enjoyed has become an increasingly disappointing experience. Over the past month, the quality of service has deteriorated to an unacceptable level. Waiting 30 minutes for a simple drink has become frustratingly common. What makes it worse isn't just the wait--it's the complete lack of acknowledgment. No apology, no explanation, not even a basic courtesy to let us know what's happening. And this is happening even when the restaurant is nowhere near full. The cleanliness and overall atmosphere are equally concerning. The countertops near the high-chair seating area are visibly dusty, which is disappointing for a restaurant positioning itself as an upscale dining destination. Adding to the unwelcoming atmosphere is a chef who regularly works in full view of guests with an unpleasant, seemingly irritated expression. While I don't expect anyone to smile constantly, I do expect a restaurant to create an environment where guests feel welcome rather than uncomfortable. The most disappointing part is that we genuinely wanted to keep coming back. We weren't occasional visitors who happened to have one bad experience. We were loyal, weekly customers who consistently chose Zoto over countless other dining options in Sarasota. That loyalty, however, seems to mean very little. At $150-$200 per visit, I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect attentive service, basic cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere. Price alone doesn't make a restaurant upscale. Hospitality, consistency, and attention to detail do. After giving Zoto multiple chances over the past several weeks, we've finally decided to take our Thursday date nights elsewhere--somewhere our business feels appreciated and the food and service justify the price. A beautiful restaurant can attract customers once. Only exceptional hospitality makes them want to return. Unfortunately, Zoto seems to have forgotten that. What a shame to see a place we once loved become somewhere we no longer look forward to visiting.

There are colorful bingo markers on the table. -Bring cash! There's an ATM at the front of the restaurant if you forget. -Someone comes around to your table each round, and you can buy as many cards as you want for that round. Each round uses a different color of paper and a different shape to win. -Cards are $1 each for the first few rounds and $2 for the last couple of rounds. The jackpot for the first couple of rounds was around $250! -The numbers are called out and shown on multiple screens all over the restaurant, so it's easy to keep up. As for dinner, we ordered: Blue crab fritters, onion smashburger, shrimp & grits, and seafood pasta. I would skip the seafood pasta but I LOVED the blue crab fritters! They were so tasty, lightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a great sauce on the side. The burger was also good, but the real winner was the fries.
