I have to up the star rating for this place since it's my go to Mexican place. The carnitas tacos are killer. Comes with grilled onions and the pork is delicious. The shrimp fajitas are also great. 9-10 pieces of perfectly cooked shrimp with grilled veggies, refried beans and yellow rice. Birria plates is also delicious. Tender meat, with rice and beans. We've been ordering food from this place for years and it has been excellent, up until our last three orders. The taco meat is now bland and dry, the chips are stale, we paid extra for jalapenos and did not get them. Such a shame. They were so good before. Note: the food doesn't taste like 10w40 or have the effivescenc of 89 octane - that's a joke people. "Hidden Gem" I hate that term, gosh, it's so overused and what gem is it? But there is an exciting vibrancy to the inside - the people who I see there are cheerful and chowing traditional dishes - nothing too unique like Hurache Aztec or Taco Azules - cactus dishes - oh my, listen to me - seven months in a heavily Mexican food induced area and now I've become a harsh variety critic - I shall do that no longer. My order got messed up - it was a lollypop order - two beef tacos on corn tortillas, rice and beans. Was craving Mexican, and this place was nearby. Had to do about 6 U-turns to find the place, because I didn't realize it's inside of a gas station - but I'm glad I found it! Outstanding food and the lady taking my order was super friendly and helpful! I had a chorizo and egg taco for $3. When I opened it, it looked small, but it was packed with flavor. Also ordered the Huevos rancheros. I have never seen them the way they came, I think I had to assemble it myself? Regardless, this was absolutely delicious. The sauce it came with had an amazing kick. The lady working said they made their own sauces, and gave me 4 different ones to try out, and every single one was outstanding, particularly a chipotle one. This place is a must-try! read more

I've seen taco Jalisco on Yelp before when I've craved Mexican in Sarasota. At first, I had trouble with the fact that it was inside a gas station. But let's be honest, the best Indian food in Tampa is connected to a gas station in front of Westshore mall, so I shouldn't be so picky. Even with getting past that, I had trouble going because it was always slammed. This morning I was craving a breakfast burrito or breakfast tacos and while I'd usually swing into a wawa for that, I decided to give Jalisco a try. It was mercifully slow and I was able to order right away. They clearly make everything fresh because my order took 15 minutes, which seems excessive for a breakfast burrito but i was also hungry and am always impatient. Anyway, you're probably better off ordering online or by phone so it's ready when you show up. If you order in the store, you order at the counter but pay at the convenience store register. I went with the egg and ham burrito. Would have preferred chicken but it wasn't offered. Regardless, for a simple burrito with just those ingredients, salsa and potatoes, this was a delicious breakfast burrito. I'm sure it had something to do with the river of oil they use on the grill, but whatever, it was excellent. They have a huge menu and everything looks authentic- though this is a suburban white dude from Long Island saying that, so take it with a grain of salt. Regardless, this is worth a stop if you're craving some excellent Mexican food. read more
