Fire Tacos is a food truck that serves up tacos and other Mexican food favorites. The food truck definitely has seen better days, but I have found that the best Mexican food does not come from flashy type places, but rather these humble places. It is my humble opinion that the more ambiance a Mexican place has, odds are that the food will suffer. This is not always the case, but more often than not, I find that the fancier the place, the food suffers more. I went up to the food truck and scanned the menu. Let me start out by saying that their tacos on corn tortillas was $2.50. Quite a bargain. I got three tacos and was charged $7.50. The woman at the one side took my money and almost instantaneously, another woman handed me my tacos. I opted for a carne asada taco,a carnitas taco, and a chorizo taco. They were pretty well packed with meat, especially for the relatively low price point (some might even say downright cheap). They were also pretty tasty. I also liked the salsas that came with my tacos. I will say that I preferred the red salsa over the green salsa, but both were very good. Fire Tacos was definitely a pretty good choice if you are in the Sarasota, Florida area or if you are passing through (the truck is not located far off of Interstate 75). I would definitely recommend Fire Tacos and I will give it five stars overall. Go check it out for yourself. I do not think that you will be disappointed. read more

I bought 3 steak tacos on corn tortillas and a watermelon aqua Fresca. I'll start off with the service which was quick and friendly. As far as the steak, it was EXTREMELY greasy. The good thing is that the tortilla soaked up most of it. I appreciated that they used two types of onions (red and white onion) but the white onion pieces were really large--this is just a preference issue and didn't really affect the taste of the taco. I can't wait to go back! Fire Tacos just made me the best burrito I have ever had. I am from Chicago. Mexican is one of my comfort foods. I eat tacos or burritos often more than once per week. But, we don't get great shrimp tacos much. I had the shrimp burrito supreme and my sister had shrimp tacos. She loves them. Her family likes to stop here on the way to Ditwilers. They have great red (chile de arbol) spicy salsa and salsa verde. Both salsas are very good. The supreme burrito comes with cheese, sour creme, beans, rice, lettuce, cilantro and avacado along with your choice of protein. They have al pastor and shrimp as well as steak, chicken and other fillings. I noticed several vegetarian options. The biggest downside is that you have to eat on your lap in the car as they have no tables or bathrooms. It's just the food truck. Still, for Mexican food this great, I highly recommend stopping by for a quick bite or take out. I am hoping to come back on Tuesday as others say they have $1 tacos for Taco Tuesday.
