So sad I found this place my last few days in Sarasota - if I had known about it earlier, I'd be here weekly! Don't miss this food truck! We ordered the Chorizo Torta, Chorizo quesadilla (can you tell we love chorizo?), chicken taco, & al pastor taco. With spicy salsa. The Chorizo Torta was amazing - the bread was so fresh! Definitely would get this again - probably one of, if not the best torta we've had. Chorizo quesadilla was large and so filled with meat. There wasn't any cheese in it which I found confusing but didn't question it - it was so savory and delicious. I couldn't even eat the whole thing, it was so big - all for $8 Both tacos were good, I'd probably choose the al pastor over the chicken but the chicken was still delish. Tacos came with grilled onions and radishes, and of course traditional lime & cilantro. Tacos were $1.50 each -can't beat it! The salsa could have used a bit more spice but it was reallllly flavorful and smokey. Definitely enjoyed the taste. Go here! read more

There are so many good tacos in Bradenton, it is too bad that I am just now getting around to reviewing them. Mr. R. is located in the dirt lot to the left of a used car lot. Every taco lover in the area, which I have spoken to, claims that Acapulco Tropical Supermarket is the best for tacos. However, there is no reason to fear the truck. Especially when they have all of their licenses posted as well as their inspection information. Mr. R. Tacos is delicious, and their carnitas are better than Acapulco. All of the tacos here are $1.25, which is some of the cheapest I have seen on a permanent menu. You can choose either flour or corn tortilla, corn being the more authentic choice. Choose the meat you want, and they add chopped onion and cilantro with a side of lime. The tortilla is about the size of your hand and contains about 4 ounces of meat (1/4 lb). Most of the choices come with a side of hot red chili sauce, unless you order the chorizo, which is already seasoned. My workmate ordered 3 Chorizo (chopped spiced pork sausage) tacos on Flour shells, and they also had a little melted cheese on top and came with some red and green hot peppers on the side. Perfectly greasy and a little salty. I ordered 2 Chicken on Corn Tortilla, and 2 Carnitas on Corn Tortilla. The chicken was mostly white meat, and was finely shredded. These did not have much oil at all and tasted very healthy with the red chili sauce added. The Carnitas were amazing, and were steamed long enough that all of the fat melted away leaving just the tender meat. Carnitas will usually leave you with large globs of fat to chew on, but there was nothing like that from Mr. R. The cilantro and lime were perfect and so was the hot chili sauce. I washed it down with a Pinapple Jarritos soda. This truck is here everyday. It is even on the goggle street view when you Google the address. They also have nachos, tortas, burritos, and I even think I saw hamburgers on the menu. Check it out! Of course, they are cash only. read more

Oh my goodness. I am always skeptical with taco trucks because they are just so many around Bradenton. This was our first time visiting Mr. R and we are so happy we did! I had two chorizo tacos- delicious! The chorizo was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of spice, I love love love when tacos have raddish included, it just makes the taco so much more robust. I will definitely recommend the Chorizo corn tacos all day long. My husband had a steak burrito and devoured it, he said it was the best burrito he has had in a long time, it was around $6.00 and a great amount of food for the price! My kids each had a flour beef taco, my picky eating 9 year old ate hers all up! That says a lot! For about $1.50 a taco you can't go wrong! I cant get enough of this place. The food is ALWAYS fresh and ALWAYS good. The $1.50 chicken tacos are by far my favorite. They offer corn, flour, or crunchy shells. The quesadillas are full of cheese, meat, and guacamole, a pleasant upgrade from other trucks. The enchiladas are some of the best in town. Great tacos! I ordered 3 flour tacos. One Pastor, One Asada and one chorizo. All were fantastic. They place the meat and cheese on the tortilla to melt the cheese a little bit before serving them. with a few radish slices and lime wedges, these are really good tacos! If you want a great authentic taco or burrito in south Manatee county then you need to go to MR. R. TACOS on 15th street. My family and I love their food so much that we'll drive from 20 miles east just to pickup three burritos & six tacos, that's how good it is. I used to work down the street from Mr. R's, and when I started at my company, it was a unanimous decision by our entire office staff for a Friday lunch run to Mr. R's Tacos. Working with a few Europeans with high standards of chosen eating establishments, I was shocked when they first told me that it was a taco truck. Being from Dallas, Texas, where you get some of the best tacos on the planet, I have missed good Mexican food period here in Sarasota, let alone taco stand tacos. Mr. R Tacos is hands down, THE BEST TACOS IN SARASOTA. The burritos are huge and fabulous. I became a Mr. R's addict and joined the cult. The Red Chili sauce is amazing, the green sauce too, which I always get both when I have ordered. He will also grill Jalapenos for you on the side, and always is super friendly and has a smile. It has been a while since I have been, job moved south, but my mouth is watering just seeing the truck and pictures. Now thinking of planning a special trip there sometime this week because nothing else is cutting it or even coming close. MR. R IS TRULY THE BEST! read more

Over the last couple weeks I have had the chance to make visits to pretty much all of the Mexican food spots in Bradenton, as found here on Yelp, as I have been finding the need to satisfy my Taco craving I have been having to deal with over the last few weeks. I am originally from California, and as far as I am concerned, the best Mexican food comes from there. That being said though I have been very satisfied with the food I have eaten. Mr.R Tacos would be a place to go if I was hungover and was in the mood for some greasy food. I got 2 steak and 2 chicken tacos, my usual order wherever I go, and I was very satisfied with the food that I actually ordered another steak taco, a little on the greasy side like I said, but everyonce in a while if I feel like being bad, Mr.R would be a good place to go. read more
