I've purchased food here in the past but never dined in. The ambiance is nice. The music choice in the background was pretty good - my little ones stood up to dance to it. Theres room for improvement with the customer service. Back to the food. I tried to like the dine in experience but the service and food weren't good. The tortillas were kind of hard and the ground beef was more on the cold side. My kids had a tough time biting there food. I had to cut out the hard part. The dessert snacks was pretty good. I'm not sure I'd recommend this place with confidence if someone asked where to eat in the area, nor am I sure I'd eat here again.

    A cute sticker

This was a great Tijuana Flats! The staff was so kind and quick and when I got home with my to-go order I noticed there was a cute sticker on the box. Made my night :)

Tijuana Flats always looks so groovy and alluring anywhere I go and see one. Even more so since I work for DoorDash and constantly pick up orders from the Lakeland location. So coming here was never and if, but a when. I just didn't plan on going to a random one in Sarasota before hitting the Lakeland store. I absolutely love the wacky eccentric way that all Tijuana Flats are decorated. Definitely their trademark and I am all for it. I was specifically really interested in taste testing their sauce station, which literally has probably about 20 different hot sauces to choose from. Right up my alley. I got the burrito bowl and it was decent. Next time I go I want to either try a legitimate burrito or the enchiladas, which are always my top pick for Mexican food. I still enjoyed the bowl but I don't feel I got the full effect. The girl working was absolutely the sweetest person and I wish I had gotten her name because she deserves a shout out for being so friendly and accommodating. Overall, I'd come back to a Tijuana Flats. Not necessarily because it's incredible food, but it's still not bad and the overall experience is quite fun. I'd also recommend the peach hot sauce (yup sounds super weird but I promise you will be amazed)!

I think I like this place, so four stars it is for now after two visits. Yes, it's a chain, but the food and price are right, and I'm a fan of the hot sauce bar. (Maybe b/c it brings back memories of the hot sauce bar in Key West.) Food is fresh and standard American-Mexican food. The chicken taco and beef taco are good. Both come with rice and beans (black or refried). Their queso is one of my favorites. It's mild, so add some of your favorite sauces for a kick. The hot sauce bar can be overwhelming at first, but they have an easy code of smiley yellow face to painful black face to gauge spiciness. On weekend evenings they may have a band outside playing for the outdoor diners. Your view will be the parking lot of Khol's, so enjoy the funky decor inside if you prefer. You are supposed to order at the counter then take a seat and they'll deliver your food for you, but I watched some seniors come in and sit down expecting table service and the staff obliged without a word.

    15 hot sauces to try!

Great customer service. Food was as promised hot and fresh and delicious! Friendly servers recommended hot sauces. Manager comped a beer when I had asked for another beer and no one delivered it. Steak quesadilla was lovely tender. The nachos were plentiful to share with a group. Guacamole needed salt

Great tacos, watch for the "hot" sauce, good service, fast food atmosphere, will go back. Not expensive.

My husband was in the mood for a burrito so we looked for a Mexican place nearby and came across La…read morePotranca. What a fortunate choice we made because this was place was the best! It's a small, fast, casual dining place, with table service. I started with the La Potranca cocktail. Our server said it was tequila, passion fruit, and coconut. I assume it was coconut milk or cream of coconut, because the drink had a very light creamy consistency. Honestly, I'm still thinking about this drink. My husband said it tasted strong which surprised me because it didn't to me, but halfway through, I was feeling it. I loved this drink so much. It also came in a funny torso shaped glass. For food, we ordered my daughter the cheese quesadilla, my husband the beef burrito, and I ordered the Vampiro - a fried tortilla with meat, cilantro, onions. My husband said his burrito was good but that it was too much cheese. It essentially tasted like a cheese burrito. Similarly, our daughter's cheese quesadilla was so THICK that we thought she mistakenly got chicken. Turns out it was an enormous amount of cheese, but I tasted it and it was also sooo flavorful. The Vampiro I ordered tasted so good. It was different from what I've usually had in Mexican restaurants but was sort of "lighter" in some ways even though the tortilla was fried. This has a ton of flavor too. I ordered two, and they were $4.50 each, so not bad. (The food came super, super fast). I forgot to mention we were given chips when we arrived. There was a caddy of 8 sauces to choose from, spicy and mild. I tried the very spiciest, Salsa Chile de Vincent's, and this did have some spice but not too much. The Salsa Asada was the second spiciest but not spicy for me. Salsa Chilango had another flavor in it that I couldn't quite narrow down but it was a little creamy and super flavorful. And the Salsa Asada had a Smokey flavor. Regardless, it was a great collection to choose from. We ordered the churros for dessert with dulce de leche to dip them in and also Nutella. These are probably the best churros we've had. They were super sugary and so delicious. The place is small but with a fun, pink, neon aesthetic. The bathroom was clean and beautiful. (Don't be deterred by the sign at the doorway saying no public restroom - that just means for non-patrons. This little restaurant was such a fun surprise and definitely somewhere I'll go again.

We had reservations for 7pm on a Saturday night and it was a good thing because the place was packed and there was a line waiting. We were shown to our table next the the pretty fountain and were immediately taking our drink orders. Appetizers: the medium sampler platter is plenty for 4 adults and we had some leftovers. I love the fried cheese, riblets, taquitos and chorizo. I'd be happy to order this as my main meal honestly. Entree: baby churrasco, which is the perfect size but I could only eat half since the appetizer, yummy bread, salad and the sides of rice and beans and platanitos and mariquitas filled me up. Everything delicious including the trio of yummy condiments. Only ding was my drink. I ordered a very dry martini but got a dirty. Oh well. Otherwise everything was nice. Service was attentive if a bit slow but our server couldn't crack a smile for nothing. We tried. He must've been having a bad day. Also, I couldn't check in. There was no internet service. I've been here plenty but this was the first time I couldn't connect. I still got my pics though. I recommend if you are craving an ok churrasco on the cheap. $27.99 including sides, salad and bread is still a great price in 2026.

Before I continue, I must acknowledge my own bias that I have been coming here for decades and many of the dearest celebrations that have been held by friends and family who grew up in this neighborhood took place here; certain family traditions are special. Guests are treated to this Nicaragua restaurant fair with Spanish influence and I have been happy to be coming here for what I can only approximate to be three decades. I also acknowledge that we are familiar faces since money talks and repeat business holds more weight. It's because of that that my family continues to opt to come here. Dinner wouldn't be dinner without an order of fried cheese and a nice Big Daddy Churrrasco steak. We were helped by Frank and German/Hernan and receded and treated kindly and welcoming despite arriving at 9 o'clock on an evening where the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM. Service was top-notch from the entirety of the staff team from the bus to the back way to the head server. I ordered my steak medium, and I am pleasantly surprised to report to the YELP community that arrived exactly as I hold for which is something that a lot of restaurants miss and air on the side of caution by sending it out medium well. I'm not a steak snob or a steak foodie or a steak of fish I'm just a guy who can tell the difference between medium and medium and well and I'm glad that they followed through accurately. The interior feels like an outside Hacienda and there's something comforting about that to me something nice and different in a place where everything has to be chic. I'm just a guy who likes to eat good food and be treated well. Had a nice price point with people I care about this case my immediate family so that's why I'm giving this place five stars. I think it's worth checking out if you're interested.
