Absolutely fantastic experience at Fuzzy's Taco Shop on University Parkway in Sarasota. This place hits all the marks -- great food, great drinks, and, most importantly, genuinely great service. The menu has a ton of variety. I had the birria tacos on my recent visit. Previously had the brisket, fish and steak tacos. They were big, so three was too much food. Everything was fresh, flavorful and came out exactly as it should and fast. The tacos were excellent, and the chips and queso are definitely worth adding to the table. The drinks are every bit as good as the food. Fuzzy's knows how to make a margarita, and a cold FuzzyRita with tacos is a pretty hard combination to beat. What really made the visit stand out, though, was the service. Everyone was friendly, attentive and genuinely seemed interested in making sure my group of friends were having a good time. That makes a huge difference and turns a casual taco stop into someplace you actually want to come back to. The University Parkway location is convenient, the atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and the patio is a great addition when the weather cools a bit. Excellent food, strong drinks, reasonable prices and outstanding service. We will absolutely be back. read more

I can't stop thinking about those steak tacos, they're just spectacular. We've been in a few times over the years but now I just keep craving them. Everyone's been friendly and it's just a nice place to be. It can get pretty rowdy when a big game is on, be warned read more

Took 30 minutes to get a simple 4 taco order on a Tuesday afternoon. Very disorganized kitchen and staff. No apology or resolution from the owner. Food was average at best and very expensive. Bad business, wont be back. read more

Where do I even begin. Tacos were extremely unseasoned and dry. Had to take a sip of water after every bite. The drinks were extremely strong. I believe this establishment should be using jiggers. Food took 30 minutes to come out, and like I said before, drier taco than my wife after she sees my golf drive. The manager, I think her name was Barb or something, seemed to extremely incompetent. I'm not sure if she is developing some sort of mental disorder, but I genuinely felt bad. As for now, I will not be returning until Barb gets the help she needs and the tacos are properly seasoned. Thank you. read more

Wow, all I can say is I have never had so much garlic aïoli on any food in my entire life. Including Pollo tropical. There was so much garlic my mouth burned from it. So it's the next day and I have the biggest stomach ache.. I might try fuzzies again, but I'll definitely skip the garlic aïoli sauce. It was literally poured onto my soft tacos and overpowered the flavor of everything else. What a shame. I also don't like the tipping policy because I have to tip in order to pick up my own food. No one waited on me, I had to walk up and order my own food. but it still cost 6 Bucks to walk over and pick it up. Then I had to bust my own table when I was finished. (There was no service I could have punched in the order in the computer myself I guess..)They need to rethink their business plan. read more

First time here because I love all food with the word taco in it. We were on a road trip so this was a quick stop. You stand in line and then get your food. I was surprised at all the bashing of the owner. I found him very engaging and helpful. We had a total of six tacos and chips. The tortillas were fresh and the tacos were quite good. I will say the quantity of garlic sauce on the steak taco was overwhelming. Wouldn't get that one again. Brisket taco was the favorite. I also think they can cut way back on the tortilla chip seasoning. It was too much. Other than that, a nice lunch. I'll definitely get a margarita next time! read more

Working back close to Fuzzy's and had a vendor drop by I knew. Wanted to take me to a local "sports place" he loved. Wouldn't you know, he pulls into Fuzzy's. When I worked nearby Fuzzy's was our every Friday lunch and I was addicted to the salad and if you ask, you can get pulled brisket on it. And the avocado ranch is killer, too. We'll be stopping in more and glad the place hasn't changed. read more

"IF ONLY" - I had read Chris D's review I could have spared myself. Ordered a steak burrito, a steak bowl and queso / chips. Steak was how should I say "Gross"!!! Queso, watered down and almost flavorless. Chris' experience was also my experience - lesson learned listen to your fellow diners and save yourself the money and poor experience. BTW - Chris D. Said "But worse the steak nachos was so tough do they make a steak lower than sirloin? I chewed k believe six pieces of steak and spit them out. Advice to Fuzzy, get better steak and charge more for steak nachos. Who wants tough steak? I spit out ever piece ugh. read more

Well we decided to try Fuzzy's again after years of not coming back. GREAT DECISION! We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and it had been freshened up and repainted. It's much cleaner and the food was delicious! Service where you order your food at the counter was terrific! YAY! So happy and we will be back! read more

Sat at the bar, had one beer, the bartender didn't even acknowledge me after bringing my beer, never asked me if I wanted to order food, never offered the menu paid. I had to ask for the bill she wouldn't even make eye contact. Very disappointing won't be back and what's a shame as I live right around the corner and I have a big mouth. read more

me and my husband went into the fuzzy taco here in Sarasota we are from Texas so we love fuzzys and decided to stop by yesterday during the busy hours of taco Tuesday! the service was very good and we got checked on multiple times our margaritas were very good along with the food, a young girl named Carmen helped us pick out something good on the menu, she was very helpful even during all the chaos of it being so busy next time we're back in Sarasota we will definitely stop by again! THANK YOU FUZZYS read more

This is was by far my best experience at fuzzy taco yet. Firstly going up to order, Sadie was so nice and helped me out on deciding what to get, and then after when the food came out it was perfect like genuinely looked like the menu. So good. Thank you Sadie. read more

We literally come here 3-4 times a month. The best margaritas with so many flavors , huge servings , easy going staff and a good sports bar vibe. Mexican is more modern classic and so good. We have never had a bad meal here! We chose this over so many "fancy" Mexican places near us. read more

We love the food and the atmosphere and we are very much regulars, meaning we eat in Fuzzy's weekly. Today's trip looked much different. The curly headed blonde with her hair in a ponytail just decided she absolutely did not want to serve us at the "order here" counter --she was rude and walked away --no words and it was apparent by the way she looked at us up and down in an unwelcoming way--and asked the bartender who was extremely busy to come and take our order. I mean today is the last day and hour of the masters --but whatever!! She then stood behind the counter on her phone while glaring and starring at my family the entire time. Very UnComfortable. We went in to watch the end of the masters and the overall experience was not a good one at all. The door to an establishment is EVERYTHING--having the wrong people there can definitely do damage to your regular patronage. I can only hope that someone in your management will have a grown-up conversation and let this young lady know that behavior is very unbecoming, and unacceptable in today's society. Ugh......super annoyed because it cost NOTHING TO BE KIND. read more

I love this place. The food is so yummy and there is something for everyone. Fast casual but with alcohol is a bonus. They handle groups well and stay open late. Staff isn't overly friendly but they get the job done so well that it doesn't become an issue. Kitchen is open to view and always clean. read more

So apparently this place is hopping with the various new apartment complexes literally across the street. I went in this evening and someone had a Rottweiler inside the restaurant next to patrons while ordering. No support presentation on pet. When I got to the employee I asked if he knew there was a dog inside and the guy said no he didn't " see it". Hum Then as I received my to go order, that dog leaves and another large dog arrives. I'm confused why patrons are bringing pets inside when ordering when this restaurant has outside seating and a window they could use for such customers. read more

Sadly I liked this place ok before tonight. I'm just being honest. I ordered steak nachos to go. Two things. The first one is not that bad but the size of the nachos was small so that's not real good. But worse the steak nachos was so tough do they make a steak lower than sirloin? I chewed k believe six pieces of steak and spit them out. Advice to Fuzzy, get better steak and charge more for steak nachos. Who wants tough steak? I spit out ever piece ugh. This place could be good if they served a little higher quality food and charge for it. After all, we are in Sarasota not Panama City. I hope you improve it Fuzzys cause I feel like a refund should be given. I'm wanting something else to each as I ate some chips and cheese and could have gotten that at Taco Bell. read more

food was cold, bathroom was so nasty and gross, roach on the floor. I have no idea how this business is open.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop has expanded quite a bit and on a recent trip to Sarasota, I ended up here to grab a quick lunch. Fuzzy's Taco Shop started out in 2003 in Fort Worth, Texas. It established itself near a college and its target audience was the people who attended that college, though I am sure that the faculty walked through the doors of Fuzzy's Taco Shop more than once or twice. The ambiance here is more of a bar than a Mexican restaurant. The food is also not the most authentic, though the portions and prices are not bad. The service was pretty good, as well. If you are looking for a place to grab a drink, this is not a bad place. If you are looking for a Mexican meal (and care about authenticity), Fuzzy's Taco Shop might not be the place for you. As an overall grade, I am going to give it three stars. read more

Stopped here for lunch and glad I did! Ordered the Tacos Dorado and they were excellent! Came with a nice sized dollop of guacamole which was very fresh and very tasty! Tacos were fresh and tasted great. Definitely will be coming back here! read more

Enjoyed coming here for years. The Bartenders have been attentive and the food is decent. Nothing great, but a value and overall enjoyable time. However, the last several months we felt uncomfortable because this location has many "regulars". They can be loud and obnoxious and feel you "took their assigned seating". The last few times we arrived and the Bar was full. Cool! Great for the Owner, but not really... the Regulars reserve seats with their phone, various trinkets or tilt a seat for others not coming until way later and/or they disappear all while nursing a single $3 Draft for hours. So my Wife and I and many other nice couples we met who order apps, meals and multiple drinks will go elsewhere. Also, I understand an establishment can't control the conversation of its patrons, but it is just plain bad business to condone politics and hate speech. Finally, lower the music volume, clean your restrooms and good luck with your racist regulars. Buh, Bye! read more

Happy National Margarita Day!! Decided to celebrate at FuZzy's (University and Tuttle) with margaritas and one of my guilty pleasures, a big ole plate of nachos. No it's not fancy, yes the floors are a little sticky but they have the cheesiest, yummiest chicken or brisket nachos (the secret is they put on feta, and feta makes everything betta ). I've order these nachos to-go as well and the result is always the same...a huge portion of ooey gooey goodness and don't forget the Butt Burner Sauce!! Side note, they also have amazing fried avocado tacos read more

Stopped in our way home from the beach and weren't disappointed. Tacos tasted great and the chips were 5/5. Queso was a little runny compared to how I like it but was wonderful. Nice little place but they keep microwaving the "Grilled Shrimp". Please stop it, I'm not paying for microwave food

When they first opened they may have been understaffed and I couldn't really get served outside at the counter. Since then my wife and her friend come here weekly and love it. I came back today with my pups. Haley couldn't have been nicer or more efficient and the Quesabirra Tacos were amazing as was the margarita in a chilled glass. Great music too. read more

This was probably the best food we had on our vacation! We spent the day at the Sarasota jungle which is amazing then ate lunch here. It's got a very laid back vibe with outside bar seating, Ozzy Osbourne playing, and games around the perimeter. Go for Taco Tuesday! The beef tacos were delicious and inexpensive! Wish I took a pic.

Food quality wasn't great (pretty bland and quality felt on par with Taco Bell), but it's hard to beat the value of getting a heaping plate of tacos for about $10. I think it would be fun to come watch a sports event and drink some of the massive margaritas here, but if you are craving a really good taco maybe try elsewhere. Also the bathrooms were pretty dirty and had run out of toilet paper and paper towels. read more
