Chicanos was such a vibe from the moment we walked in. The décor alone had me smiling, colorful, festive, and full of personality with all the skulls and traditional touches. Definitely my kind of place. The chips came out hot and fresh (always a win), and the salsa was so good, super flavorful with just the right texture. We also tried the queso, and wow...creamy, rich, and loaded with toppings. My husband was obsessed. Service was ok. For the main dishes, I had the carne asada street tacos and he got enchiladas. Everything had really good flavor, seasoned well and clearly made fresh. My only small complaint was there was a bit too much onion on the tacos for my taste, but once I adjusted that, they were still delicious. The pico was bright and fresh, and I loved the little touches like the lime wedges and presentation. You can tell they care about flavor and authenticity. Overall, great food, fun atmosphere, and definitely a spot I'd come back to. If you love bold flavors and a lively, colorful setting, this place is worth checking out. read more

We went here for the first time the other night after there was a 45 minute wait for the Mexican restaurant down the street. I'm really glad we found this place! The chips and salsa were soooo good. We probably just had the worst service ever at a restaurant in our life. I know it's Cinco de Mayo but this has nothing to do with it being a busy day. We get there, put our name on the list. 45 minute wait, no problem. Go to the bar order two margaritas for the wait. Paid cash at the bar closed out. Hang out by the entry waiting for our table. We get our table and the person that sits us asks us if we want another round. We order a beer and another margarita. He bring the beer and then the server shows up as well. He asked us if we paid for our first round and we both say yes. He claims one of us said yes and one said no. Then continues to question us if we paid for our first drinks we bought at the bar. He finally says he is going to get us chips and bring the margarita. Brings the margarita, no chips. We sit for another 10 minutes or so no chips from our server. Finally he comes over takes our order but still no chips. After another 5 minutes we flag down someone else and asked her for chips. Which she brings out right away. Our server never comes back to our table. He comes to every table around us, not ours. Our seconds drinks are now empty. It's been close to an 45 minutes to an hour now. We have now decided our server is not going to come back to our table . We go to the bar to ask how much the round is, no luck. My wife see our server while up there and ask hime what the cost of the round is. He walks off on her. She finally tracks him down and ask to pay for the round of drinks since he obviously doesn't want to serve us and who know if he even put our food order in. My wife pays and and the he tells her to fuck off and get the fuck out! Then proceeds to kick her out. I'm sure she said something to him after her told her to F off. I did talk to someone there about the incident but we have never been treated that way in any restaurant we have ever been in. First time, Last time! never going to try it again. read more

First time customer. Thought the food was good. Portions were small service started out good until his meal came up and he decided to eat. When the bill came, we reviewed it and noticed that the taxes were off. They were charging more than 10% instead of 7%. Ask to speak to a manager they had to call them because they were not there. This was our first time dining here based on a recommendation from a friends friend who has dined here before. We first enjoyed the warm chips and salsa. We both ordered the chicken enchilada Isela. We both agreed it was delicious. The portion size was ample (see photo). I had the Horchata beverage (typical Mexican drink-made with rice, cinnamon, sugar) It was the best Horchata I ever had! Mexican food very was poorly prepared and presented and as for taste very sub par. Expensive for what you get. Fajitas were poor and not very generous. Nachos, forget about them, awful. Chips were dry and no taste. I can't think of a reason to every return. The dining area is on the dark side. Then we had questions with the bill: the beer was suppose to be two for one but when I got my second beer of a different brand included in happy hour both beers were now regular price. Then there was a charge concerning non cash payment but we paid in cash. Next time will go to a higher grade restaurant called Taco Bill for one third the price and better tasting. Yes please, with festive chili pepper dusted in with the rim salt. The brisket tacos were excellent. But saving the best for last - churros with chocolate - mmm, yummy, bueno! Crispy outside, slight chewy inside. Upon savoring that first bite, I literally turned in my seat towards the kitchen door hoping to compliment the chef. Very clean restaurant, wait staff attentive. Food was just ok, burrito with grilled chicken pretty much lacked the grill chicken. What was there was diced up so small you couldn't even tell it was chicken. Guacamole was very disappointing not much to it didn't have much avocado (at least what was served to me. This is June 2022, gas prices, groceries and in general food costs are getting very expensive for dining out regularly. So when we dine out, we check budgetary costs. So, if you do go out to dinner, you will definitely get value at this restaurant. Service here, in the past, was hit and miss. I am so utterly dissapointed with my experience at chicanos yesterday evening. Every time I crave Mexican food, I go here, and have been for years. I normally call, but recently I've been ordering online to just save some time or energy. So I looked up chicanos on my apple map, and pressed the "order" button. the first option that comes up is yelp, second option being grub hub, third being door dash. I chose the first suggestion, yelp, because it was first. Yelp is connected with grub hub, and the app tells me my food will be ready at 5:45. So I walk in to pick up my food, as I'm walking in I see a sticker on their front window that reads "We do grub hub and door dash". First thing they say is there is no order in the kitchen. It wasn't a problem at first, I am very patient and I had no problem waiting if they needed to remake it. The kind hostess apologized as it was out of her hands, and went to grab the owner. The owner came out and says "we dont do yelp, so I dont know what to tell you". I showed him exactly how I ordered, and how yelp (that is connected the grub hub) was the very first suggestion for ordering online when looking up their restaurant. I already paid the restaurant $62.23 and I was looking forward to receiving the food I ordered from them. So I was either going to wait, or call yelp customer service. The owner then called his wife on speaker, and pushed the phone to me and said "speak to her"... although it was obvious I was uncomfortable, I did so and explained to her the same thing I had to explained to the nice hostesses and owner. She says my money is no good and she doesn't care because they dont do yelp (which again is connected to grub hub that is advertised on their front window). I muted the phone with the wife on the other line and told the owner quietly that I was uncomfortable speaking with her any further, He unmutes the phone and tells his wife "She says she dont feel comfortable talking to you"... This interaction is already so unprofessional and I felt defeated. But if it wasn't already bad enough, the wife responds with "THEN TELL HER TO GET THE F*CK OUT OF OUR RESTAURAUNT". I was so taken aback in this moment. I immediately starting trembling and my chin was quivering because I was so anxious in that moment. Do I stand up for myself, and try and get the food I ordered and paid for from this restaurant? Or are these people gonna spit in my food at this point if I continute to try and get what I ordered. The owner walks away to the back of the establishment, meanwhile I call yelp customer service. She explains that the restraunt does grub hub and door dash, and that any order through yelp, is sent through grub hub. So the (very sweet) hostess went and grabbed the owner again, so the customer service respresentative could explain that They actually ACCEPTED the order... but it said grub hub and not yelp. He yells into the phone "this little girl keeps trying to tell me she ordered our food through yelp, or grub hub , WE DO NOT DO GRUB HUB" As he's shouting into my phone, I kindly try to point out that the sticker on the very front of his establishmnt says they do grub hub... This man continued to belittle me by calling me a little poor girl. SO I gave up and just got a refund from yelp. I will not be giving this buisness any of my money until either the ownership is changed, or I am compensated for the amount of stress I went through on august second from 5:45 til' 6:50. I was insulted and belittled several times by the owner... and his wife wasn't very kind towards me either (over the phone of course). Let me finish it off by saying the two hostesses that were working that night were so so sweet and helpful, So to you two ladies, I apologize for any chaos I may have brought into your night, but also if you ever have a similar experience, you do not deserve to be belittled over something as simple as this. Stopped in randomly, not knowing anything about this restaurant and am pleasantly surprised; the staff was friendly and attentive, the interior and the outdoor seating is very cute, with great decorations and music and the drinks and food were very good with reasonable prices. It's a blessing that the salsa arrives in a cup slightly larger than a shot glass as it's not that good at all. Service is extremely slow. I've been here a couple times because my parents like it, but there's nothing special about this place food wise. I will say the employees are great and deserve five stars. Our waitress was extra extra accommodating and patient with us and offered my uncle a free beer when his order was messed up. Also are server was friendly as he dropped our food off. They start us with chips and salsa. The chips were a bit flavorless but that didn't stop us from eating them.
