I'm giving a two star instead of one because when this place first opened it was good! I've gone a total of three times here and it's always clean out in the dining area with friendly service. I got the same thing everytime I went and it was the Pulpo Enamorado. The first time I got it I was impressed, the second and third time felt like it was missing something and was a smaller portion size. The main issue here that lead me to review, my uncle and siblings came into town and thought this was a good place to take them to. We all got waters and in 3 out of 5 waters, there was a NYMPH ROACH in them. 3 nymph roaches total. The waiter offered to get us new waters but we all felt uncomfortable with that and paid extra for bottled water. Absolutely disgusted will never come here again. read more

We stopped here with the grandchildren and their father tonight. None of us really liked any of our dishes. Didn't like the flavor of the fajitas or Mol's. The kids didn't care for their fajita salads or tacos. The place was empty on a Saturday night. Very clean and service was great. It looks very new inside. We sat down around 530 had to beg to get a server food came out bland cold and burnt. Poor management being so understaffed. Our server was great once we finally got one. The one man band they had inside was so loud you couldn't understand a thing anyone was saying. Extremely disappointed in this place after I heard such great things about it. read more

The food was good and it had great flavor. I was able to have corn tacos and I don't know if they were labeled as GF but I did not get sick. The server, Patricia, was on her 2nd day and she was wonderful! The decor is super cute and I thought is had a gorgeous chandelier in the front entrance!! Def coming back! read more

Good looking clean establishment. Didn't like the fact the door for the bathroom is pretty much in the actual restaurant right by tables. Not even a hallway. It was bad enough the place was empty but put us right by the bathroom. The server was nice, but the food was just barely ok. The queso was very thick and tasted like American cheese. We barely ate any of it. The chips were bland as hell with no salt not your regular type of chip, but could have been better with salt. The shrimp dish was pretty good with some decent size shrimp. Rice was bland also. Try it for yourself, but if they keep things the way they are they will not be around too long. read more

New restaurant that opened so I figured I would try it. Overall experience was underwhelming. Maybe they are still trying to figure it out but I probably won't return for a while. Nice ambiance. They took their time and built a nice restaurant. The service needs help. My waitress was serving 5 other tables when there were many others just standing around. I had the Mocajete and shrimp fajitas. It tasted as if it was rushed and not seasoned properly which threw me back being a Mexican restaurant. Also, be prepared to spend a bit more. It was expensive compared to the other Mexican restaurants in the area with smaller portions. read more

I went for their Taco Tuesday special $2 tacos. I was on my lunch break and normally I just grab tacos from Taco Bell across the street from my job. I love the atmosphere it's inviting. Nicely decorated. The greeted me immediately and offer choice of table or a booth being that I was on my lunch break and alone I chose a booth. They brought me home made ( not bagged) tortilla chips and salsa. My 2 ground beef tacos came quickly . The taco's were much better than Taco Bell and not greasy. They were nothing special flavor wise but hey for the price I was not complaining. I would definitely go back and try some of their more expensive dishes. 4 of us tried this new (2 weeks old) place to see what it had to offer. Two of us enjoyed the Molcajete Ranchero - flavorful salsa de la casa with a very spicy hot roasted jalapeño and some excellent Oaxaca cheese. I really enjoyed this dish. The only negative was the steak and chicken were both slightly overcooked and dry. Our other dishes we ordered were the Steak Asada tacos and chicken fajitas. Again both were slightly over cooked and dry needing extra salsa to balance the dryness. We started with complementary chips and salsa and enjoyed several margaritas. The drinks were tasty. This place is working out their early service kinks - the overcooked meats, forgot our tortillas and we had to ask for water. Nothing egregious that cannot be overcome with time. The ambience is inviting, all new interior. Just some other small things: We did find the booth we were originally shown to be to constraining for our liking, so we moved to a table. The table was fine, but the plates with our food plus the side plates and the tortillas warmers really take up too much real estate on the table top, not leaving room for our drinks & water. See picture. They are decorative plates, but a little too big for the tables. My dish came to the table with the salt below my bowl lit on fire - a very creative idea. Lastly - get rid of the paper on the board beneath the salsa and lettuce, it gets soggy and tears when using, ending up in the tortilla. read more

Beautiful ambiance but that would be the best part. I was excited about trying the table side Guac. We asked for it spicy, but it wasn't so I can't imagine how bland if it we didn't. A lot of line and cilantro but that is about it for the flavor profile. I really wanted to like it with the excellent reviews I saw on google. The house margarita was ok but not for $9. My husband's enchiladas were very dry. The salsa with the chips was tasteless not sure what they are going for. My portion size on the Aron con pollo was good but still not great. read more

Decor is cute. Great place if you want to take some photos. Service was lukewarm, but not outright rude. Food was bland but we only had the trio of fajitas so I can't say all the food would be that way. I probably won't go again, there are too many other good Mexican/Tex-Mex places nearby. read more

The food at this place is consistently amazing. The mole sauce is great on the enchiladas I tasted. Their beans taste like what you would actually get in Mexico. It's a little pricey, but the ingredients are high quality. I've been here three times and I would come back again. read more

Visited this restaurant with a friend- the inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. We were by the bar but it wasn't loud, except for when listening to the mariachi band, but we could talk. Our server was kind and helpful and took his time to explain things when he found out i am gluten free. I had a flaca salad and a spicy margarita, and both choices were excellent. My friend enjoyed her empanadas. All in all a great choice. read more

We went back last night with neighbors who had not visited. We've been several times and have been pleased with each visit! Great variety of dishes including some difficult to find and the old favorites! They have great happy hour drink and bite specials every day. I guess if you like seafood or meat, the impression of their food might be different but as a vegetarian, I wasn't all that impressed. I got the fried cauliflower tacos which reminded me of some battered cauliflower product you'd get from the frozen aisle at the grocery store. I didn't find the taco shells flavorful either. The complimentary chips were a nice gesture. I still felt they lacked texture, flavor and salt.. I liked how they cook their beans and their rice and how they pour the beans into a tortilla shell which softens the tortilla and makes it extra nice to eat once you're done eating the beans inside and only have the shell left. The churros were pretty linear, no dipping sauce with them. But they do come with ice cream. Yet I don't care for cows' milk based ice cream. I had their house sangria, which was pretty straightforward. I'm not sure if I would feel immediately compelled to return anytime soon. read more

The chips were stale and not warm and they make you pay for additional basket of chips. I'm surprised they don't charge you for ice in your drink, drinks are small- well decorated but small. We have anxiously awaited the opening of Casa Patron and waited awhile before trying this restaurant out in order for them to work out any kinks. Entering this restaurant is a pleasant surprise! A TOTAL renovation was made and the atmosphere is very welcoming. But that's as far as it goes. Casa Patron's menu will not be recognizable to the vast majority of patrons. It is confusing and hard to read. Prices are moderate to high. We are here on a Sunday night and the place has 15-20% occupancy. Service is extremely slow. We had to call for server to order a second drink. We were not offered coffee or desserts. The check came. Dishes were not cleared. Someone please turn out the lights. read more

We have eagerly been waiting to try this restaurant. The renovation seemed to take forever, but it was certainly professionally done. I know a lot of people will try to compare this to a hole-in-the wall taco place, many of which have some amazing food. This is more of a destination restaurant to spend an hour or two with friends enjoying your food and drink. The prices are very fair...lunch meals were $12-20 dollars. I had the chicken enchiladas con Mole. I love Mole, and try it at any restaurant that makes it. Theirs was excellent, and was served with beans and rice that were several levels above the typical. Chips and Guacamole were excellent. They have an extensive menu including cerviche and other fish dishes. This is an excellent restaurant, it is not a taco joint. Service was extremely prompt...less than 10 minutes to get lunch! Salsa could use some work read more

BEWARE! My daughter and I both ordered the Camarones Momia which is a bacon wrapped shrimp dish tonight. The shrimp ranged from undercooked to raw. The server was apologetic but no manager appeared to speak with us. So maybe this is a common occurrence? I ordered this same dish the last time I ate here and was looking forward to enjoying it again. Cooked properly this is an excellent dish. We recently tried Taco Tuesday at Casa Patron, since it's near our house...The $2 tacos (hard shell, corn tortilla or lettuce wrap) were really good. I think the meat options for the taco special are chicken, ground beef or shredded beef (barbacoa). It includes lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese with each one stuffed full. We also had the $5 house margarita on happy hour. The chips and salsa were included and good too. There is a Tuesday taco platter special available with beans/rice for $12. Overall, we will definitely return soon. We've tried many other Mexican restaurants (Mr. Tequila, Jalisco that's out of business now, El Toro Bravo, the Grasshopper, and Plaza Mexico) and been disappointed. Casa Patron is the best! Give them a try, since you will like the food, convenient location on Cattlemen, and the great decor. It was totally remodeled after Sommers Dutch restaurant closed. Service is pretty good too, but there is a little language barrier sometimes. They will get better, I'm sure with more experience. read more

I had dinner there tonight and it was a horrible experience. The chips and salsa were good and I was looking forward to the meal. Then two things happened, the meal came. It was some sort of chili, and sour cream and some lettuce and 4 fajitas, and the steak fajitas. It was not terrible but it was not that good either. Then at 7 PM this horrible band started up. It had to be playing at 120 decibels or louder. Not only could we not talk, we couldn't even think. My tablemate called over the waitress and asked for the music to be lower. Then we got a manager over and she said the band was playing as ordered. This was inexcusable. I might add that the decor was very nice but that there were only three tables occupied. read more

Has the kitchen ever heard of jalapenos, serrano, onions, and cilantro? This is really sad, because the food was fresh, just no vavavoom. I'm surprised that the only two Mexican condiments were Chula andTapico, the lamest hot sauces available. Can't you guys make a great taco sauce in house?Also they had Mickelhennys tobasco. Ever since they seat all lunch patrons into the bar area, I have been more disappointed in the service and ambiance. The bar is too loud and feels like everyone is too close. I asked the waitress why we couldn't sit in the front area and they told me they were cutting back on servers. I am not going there anymore for lunch. If a restaurant doesn't care about comfort, ambiance and service they are in big trouble. read more

Had an enjoyable dinner at Casa Patron. My server, Amanda P, was friendly and helpful. Amanda brought a pitcher of water and chips & salsa when I sat down. We always go to the same Mexican restaurants but decided to try something new tonight. I already got excited while walking in as the decor was beautiful and there were lots of festive lights. The staff was very friendly and accommodating of requests. The drink and food menus had a lot of variety and surprising choices. This was our first visit to Casa Patron. my husband had the Taco Tuesday special, 2 tacos, rice & beans. He chose soft shell, 1 shredded beef, 1 ground beef, rice was excellent and beans are served in a small taco shell basket, no messy plate. I had a the shredded chicken enchiladas lunch special with all rice, no beans. Food was hot and presentation was nice. Salsa was excellent, not real spicy. We would highly recommend having lunch here. Service was very good, restaurant was very clean and luncheon specials priced right. It was a good find for us, right across from Home Depot. Wanted to really enjoy this; not many decent Mexican restaurants around the area. Our food was okay; solid C and 2 out of the 4 dishes were cold by the time we got the tortillas and salsa that came with our food. Drinks were alright. This will sound weird but the booth they sat us in was very uncomfortable. They we close to the table, smaller than a standard booth size (not sure what that is all about) and the cushions were really hard. I felt like I was sitting in the "upright position" in an airplane. Our server was very sweet and let us switch to a table of four. The seating was just so strange and the plates were so big you could barely fit them on the small table for four.
