    JoJo's Lobster Rolls

This is the second time I've been here and both times our servers have been great. The views are good but the food is just okay. With that said, I should point out that it depends on what you order. My daughter had lobster rolls which are served cold. There were 2 in her dinner which was quite generous. This time around I had the ahi tuna tacos which were good and the pineapple yum cake was incredible. My big disappointment came when I ordered a mango margarita and it had not an ounce of mango flavor in it. When I asked the bartender if it was correct, he snapped back with firm "yes". Im still not convinced he was being truthful or just didn't want to remake my drink.

    Beautiful water view.

Great mussels. As normal the staff is friendly and help. The bartender, Danny, went above and beyond.

Decided to try and get a seat here for lunch without a long wait. SUCCESS! Not much has changed since our last visit except the prices have increased. What else is new, right? They are still one of the most popular restaurants in the area. Great menu and some good entertainment at the dinner hour. I had my usual, the pulled pork Nachos. Delicious!! My ordered the Grouper tacos also very good. Service is spot on and you can't beat the view. Just old Florida decor with bar seating, tables in the sand and second deck.

The food was amazing. The service was great. The restaurant was on the water and for being crowded, was quiet. I would definitely go back again. They had several sauces I would like to try.

We enjoyed our lunch today! I had the BBQ Pork Sliders and husband had the Fish Sliders. Really good food here. Sat downstairs with a nice view.

Great service from Katherine. Super yummy and beautifully crafted cocktails. We loved the shrimp nachos and grouper tacos. Epic view of the water as well.

Friday night at Nokomo's sunset hut did not disappoint! Sitting watching the sunset in the turquoise Adirondack chairs with a margarita- listening to Jimmy entertain everyone- the only thing to make this night complete is the food. Everything was delicious! We tried the fish tacos, the flatbread and hubby had a burger. Their edamame salad as a side is super yummy. The service is great! Everyone was so nice and accommodating. This is a feel good kind of place. Gorgeous sunset too

It is what they say it is. Waterfront tiki hut. Bars upstairs and down. I sat upstairs. Sunset view is behind you, but it's nice. Live music downstairs. Older music, older crowd. Bartender was attentive and made food recommendations. Opted for the lobster roll with edamame salad. The salad was just ok. Lot more chickpeas than edamame. Imagine cowboy caviar but with less flavor. Still not bad. The lobster roll was delicious. Was hoping for a little more lobster than was in there but it was really good nonetheless. Looked like they had plenty of other really good seafood options so I would definitely go back. Parking is a bit of an issue though.

food is food - parking is awful. Come at an odd hour to get parking if you can. Otherwise the views are great.

Ask the Community - Nokomo's Sunset Hut

    Is there outdoor smoking?

When I was there, I did see some people smoking away from the main group of people, closer to the shore.

Can you call to have your name put on a list for seating?

Nope. First come, first serve only.

    When is Happy Hour?

    2-4pm

    Is Nokomo's dog friendly?

Sign on the door said only service dogs. 😢

I haven't been since they first opened, going to try again next week Monday with our ladies group. Have they expanded their menu?

I do not know how big, or small, their menu was when they 1st opened. I thought their menu was very acceptable and a great place for a relaxing lunch

    Are there gluten-free options?

    There are some salad options.

    When is "Happy Hour"?

    2-4pm

Our first table wobbled so badly that we asked to move to another nearby. The restaurant has a casual, no-frills Old Florida atmosphere. Plenty of fans kept the air moving in the heat. Our server took our drink and food orders promptly, but we later had to flag her down for refills and extra napkins. What We Ordered * Chef's Ceviche: Octopus with lime juice, tomato, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, garlic, jalapeño, olive oil, and avocado, served with tortilla chips. * Harbour Island Bahama Mama: A half-pound burger topped with pineapple, mozzarella, and teriyaki, served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce and tomato. * Maine Lobster Roll: Lobster with tarragon aioli, mixed greens, and tomato on a brioche roll, served with a side salad. Food and Overall Experience The Chef's Ceviche was fresh but unremarkable, and the portion felt small. The burger, however, was excellent--cooked perfectly to medium-rare, with the pineapple adding a flavorful twist that elevated the dish. The coleslaw and lobster roll were both good, though neither stood out. The side salad was fresh and satisfying. Overall, the burger was the clear highlight of the meal. Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Gulf Coast Terry

June 2, 2026 - Two for Dinner, our 36th wedding anniversary. (we had last been here a year ago for…read morethe same occasion.) First up - PARKING was awesome!!! we parked in their lot and had plenty of choices. yay. Second - When I had made a reservation for our special occasion I was asked "Inside or Outside" which I picked Inside. I was then ASKED "window table?" to which I happily confirmed yes that would be great. I then confirmed to my wife. 6PM, Inside, & Window seating. When I arrived I was quizzed if I had a reservation. Yes. Then I was asked did i want to dine Inside or Outside and I replied I had confirmed an Inside, window reservation. And he brought us to our inside aisle non-window table. When I asked why not a window as I confirmed - I was informed they only give them out when they are available and he can't guarantee it? I then asked "Why do you ask then when the reservation is made?" He just walked away. Probably not a good candidate for a public or customer facing role. As others have stated (and I in my first review) the staff and server experience here is highly variable. 1/10 Third - Our server was excellent and gregarious. we were seated well over 5 minutes until we able to tender a drink order, but then everything went very smoothly. The bus staff seems "nervous" and inexperienced, I had to ask twice for more water. The bread and butter was a little disappointing. one of the rolls was ok, the other either old, stale or did not sustain the heating process very well - inedible. There were two flatbread crackers in the basket as well. 3/10 Fourth - We both got a cup of seafood bisque soup. This was a smooth and flavorful soup. Chunks of seafood of various types and a little shot of sherry on the side to pour on. (my 10 year AA medal pushed it away - smile) 9/10 My wife ordered a Pompano special with scallops and the chef special vegetables and green beans. This was very substantive entree and she did bring half of it home. The fish was nicely prepared and properly cooked, the vegetables were cooked al dente and not just something on the plate - good job. The green beans so nice as a vegetarian / vegan plant based eater I am going to order them as my entree! 9/10 I ordered a shrimp cocktail as part of my main. I haven't had shrimp in a few years, and these were fairly decent. the cocktail sauce was disappointing as I am a Kelchner's horseradish and Heinz Chili Sauce kind of guy.... pink from the 50/50 mixture. The sauce here was a restaurant pack can of catsup and a splash of tabasco. yech. 5/10 Also as my main an Arugula Salad with Roasted Beets, NO goat cheese, Almonds, Honey-Citrus Vinaigrette, Raspberry Coulis. A VERY nice salad with an extremely fresh and beautiful collection of arugula lettuce, and the roasted yellow and purple beets were nicely cooked and prepared. The dressing was light and tasty and not some gloppy oil slick of goo. 10/10 Finally, our server brought us out a little keylime pie to commemorate our occasion, we were actually pretty full from the dinner and declined dessert but she brought this out and we took a few pictures!!! VERY nice touch!!! Thank you. I think the kitchen has improved over the last three reviews and last three or so years. The reservation and front desk and the service is variable and inconsistent, still. The communications and reservation situation is flawed - a reservation is between two parties - if we agree on something the expectation is we BOTH deliver (I arrive on time and pay, and the establishment seats and accommodates as per the expectation) Both should expect what was agreed to? Obviously this is all personnel and seasonally dependent here in Venice, FL, now that we enter the slow and less tourist oriented I think the employees and the patrons will be less wired and unpredictable. My wife and I have discussed a mid summer visit to the Crow's Nest - maybe for my birthday in August?
