Casey Key Fish House has always been our favorite when we are in town. We brought friends today for their first visit and unfortunately we were all a bit underwhelmed. We choose the lunch special which was grilled grouper with tropical fruit. We were a bit surprised when the fruit topping the grouper was canned fruit cocktail. What a find! We spent the day at the beach and finished with the scenic drive on Casey Key Road (the mansions we passed, oh my). Happy to pull in the packed parking lot of the Fish House and find a spot along with a view of the Bay. We started with the mahi fish dip - only ok. But it turns out at 2:50 on a Friday afternoon I could still order the daily lunch special - grouper with hearts of palm, rice and pea pods. Wow! Absolutely amazing. Seriously the favorite meal on my mini vacation. Service was friendly, and prices were reasonable for quality and ambiance. Don't forget the key lime pie. The conch critters and buffalo shrimp appetizers were absolutely to die for, they were able to swap the tomato sauce for my seafood pasta with a garlic sauce and it was delicious. The sautéed grouper and rice were good, but I'm not a huge fan of green beans because they're very rarely cooked enough or season enough or something. I wish the dinner specials were all day because they had more options but I was here at lunch this trip. At least they're available at 4 because they're always really good. read more

Cute little waterfront restaurant! We stopped here on Sunday and parked the boat on the dock. Plenty of boat parking available. We just stopped in here for a light bite around 3 PM. We got the coconut shrimp which was delicious and then the peel and eat shrimp. The peel and eat shrimp Were pretty good, but I didn't realize that it would be already soaking in garlic butter rather than just dipping in the shrimp myself. If I would've known that, I may have picked a different appetizer. Service was super fast! But definitely stop by here again for a casual meal . read more

I still can't get over the beautiful scenery and the old Florida Feel of Casey Key Fish House. The wife and I went there for a late lunch. We were immediately seated however it was pretty crowded. Our server was very nice very polite but very very slow. We weren't on a schedule so didn't really care. Both of us had the seafood gumbo Soup. It was awesome! We had lunch there on Sunday and it was "good". The grouper was cooked and spiced perfectly. I made the mistake of ordering the Buffalo Shrimp and found them to be horrible. They were basically heavily battered fried shrimp that you then dunk in Buffalo sauce.... I picked some of the batter off and was left with a pitiful bit of farm raised shrimp with NO flavor.... Thankfully the service was excellent and the beer was cold (unfortunately served in a plastic cup instead of a nice glass...- which is becoming typical for waterfront bars...). read more

We set outside comfortable except a large bird flew up and sat right next to us cool at first but the bird wouldn't leave we had to guard our food he was waiting for an opportunity to take something off our plate. Not a fan of SWORDFISH, but, the SWORDFISH ENTREE is like none other than you will ever have. AGAIN we attempted to dine here but were punched in the face at the front door. The sewage stank was assaulting and was met like a brick wall that we bounced off of. AGAIN. That was our last attempt to ever set foot in this shit-hole! (Thanks for the good years!) This was worse than the time at a Texas Taco Cabana 17 years ago that almost killed us. Usually I smell test a seafood restaurant for old fish, but this was a no sniff death zone; choking as we turned around and ran! P.S. I know low tide smell so don't try to deflect. This is a sewage or sewage gas leak. The management should research STUDOR VENT VALVES as a possible solution. Dumbasses! We usually love a trip to Casey Key Fish House, but this time was a big disappointment. First, the server was pretty abrupt and not friendly, at all. Never came back to refill drinks, etc.. The food was really heavy and greasy. The calamari itself is tender and the breading is usually light and crisp. It was really greasy today. Likewise, the "lightly fried" shrimp as anything BUT lightly fried. It had an incredibly heavy batter, soaked in oil, covering very small shrimp that were not at all firm, as shrimp should be. (Had the description said "battered" we would not have selected them. ). We both ended up peeling the greasy caked batter off and just eating the little shrimp. My husband's fries were also limp and really greasy. My Buffalo Shrimp was just the regular fried shrimp with a side of buffalo sauce. I was enticed by the carrot and celery sticks. Carrots were good. About half the celery was nice and crisp. The rest was limp and obviously older. It was nice sitting outside, but after today's experience, we may not be back, which is too bad. read more

The noise level is difficult, but the food is great. Once again my husband and I could not decide on one dish and so ordered the mahi mahi and grouper sandwiches and shared both. We also shared the very refreshing Cole slaw and the fries. We ordered the fish grilled for both sandwiches. The sandwiches also come with a large slice of tomato, a leaf of lettuce and a small container of tartar sauce. They do not take reservations; first come, first served. We did not wait long to be seated and have our orders taken. The sandwiches are a bit sloppy so I think one of those "wet naps" might be offered. read more

The fish was really good and quite filling. The coconut shrimp was also good. The service was slow. Our server, guy with a bun, was nice but didn't frequent us for refills and took forever to get us our check. I was served an enormous salad which was delicious but as the greens were torn in large pieces a bit messy to eat. The crab cake was tasty but not too large. The mushroom was okay. Three of us had the black cod fish special- excellent. Came with a lobster sauce and a couple of shrimp. Sauce was runny would have been better if it was thicker. Vegetables included mashed potatoes- green beans- carrots. All very tasty but not very hot. The winner was the shrimp scampi- looked good. Wife had the almond snapper - fish great vegetables tender but not warm. So fun place with an outdoor tiki bar- good drinks (although no draft beer tonight). This restaurant is a little bit hidden on a side street of S. Tamiami, bit it is worth the trip. We got our waters right away with straws already in it, even though the menu cover specifically said"straws on request ". That is however the only thing that could have made it a 4 instead of a 5 star review. The food and the service were excellent. Our waiter was friendly, gave nice advice on menu choices and was fast. My wife and I decided to share a grouper and a mahi-mahi sandwich, so we could have the best of both worlds. Both were grilled (blackened or fried were the other options) and came with tomato and lettuce and a little container of tartar sauce. On the side fries or Cole slaw are the options, we had one of each. The fries were nice and crispy, the Cole slaw was really good. No mayonnaise (like most other places) and a hint of pineapple, that gave it a nice sweet and fresh bite. read more
