A big restaurant with a big kitchen to match. Good service overall. Some better quality control on the edges would help. For example, Ordered gin and tonics at the bar. The tonic water comes from the fountain -- was a little flat and had little flavor. I'm sure with all the mixers and sodas coming from that hose doesn't help. Keep the mixers in small bottles, or larger, but NOT in the soda fountain. Had the fish tacos, I'd call them gringo tacos -- no cilantro, pico, pickled onion or jalapeños. And they sprinkle cheese on top -- please, fish and cheese don't mix! Good size pieces of fish, however. Friends had fish, and was meh. Keep working on your culinary skills. A nice venue. read more

We eat out a lot down here, and it's not difficult to find a place that is good, very good or excellent. Well this place was none of those. We were with visiting friends and had just been to the theater on a Sunday afternoon. We called ahead and they said they couldn't take a reservation but that they would get us a table as it wasn't that busy - so come on in. When we arrived we were told we could not get a table until 8:15, some 3.5 hours later. We explained that we had just called and drove over on the advice to come and we would get a table. They said no such call had been taken and questioned whether we really called at all. I showed them the phone with the number and time on it hoping that maybe another person would remember and verify that we were promised and it would be fine. The hostess (who later said she was the manager) said it was just not possible to get a table before 8:15 even though we could see open tables and people ready to leave and nobody there waiting but us. Very rude, especially when they questioned our calling at all. We are part of large dinner club that dines out regularly at various restaurants. Needless to say this one is off of our list permanently. We don't know if the food or drinks are any good but we know all we need to about the service! We ended up at Phillipi Creek Oyster Bar and enjoyed great service, a waterside table, and excellent food. It wasn't as 'fancy' but we made a great dining memory there, which is just what we needed to forget the terrible treatment we received at Deep Lagoon. read more

One time bartender recommended a white wine ok we said. $22 a glass which is ridiculous!! As we all know!! Tonight out of our reg bottle of wine $30/35 a bottle waiter said $60 for comparable but better ok. Was $67. I wanted Crab. Love stone Crab but waiter said Alaskan King Crab Excellent Market Price. It's a nice new building with a fantastic view. Definitely go if you want to impress out-of-towner's with the view of the bay, however, the FOOD IS NOT GOOD. Very underwhelming. My wife had the broiled salmon with broccoli and the roasted baby bella mushrooms. I had the Mahi Thermidor. Both pieces of fish were over cooked. In general both meals were lacking flavor, something best described as "old people food". My dish completely lacked the spiny lobster mentioned in the menu and was drowning in a sauce that tasted less like a sherry cream sauce and more like a roasted red pepper sauce. My wife's roasted mushrooms were obviously stewed and not roasted. Sorry, no photos. I suspect the original location is very good, but the owners need to do a better job recreating that quality control across all locations. Service was excellent and there appeared to be plenty of staff. The reality is the location is so premium that management will likely have little motivation to improve on the food, because the amazing views will keep bringing customers to the restaurant. read more

OMG the best restaurant we ate at the entire time we were here. Most of the food in Sarasota is disgusting and I wouldn't feed it to my dog and is over priced. so disappointed. I am a local patrin That has been coming the Osprey location since it opened a year ago. Unfortunately the food has been very disappointing 3 of the last 4 times I have had dinner there. Both my appetize and entry were subpar. The ceviche was tough and too spicy. It came out looking like slop served with chips that were stale. my Entry was a Tropical Salad that was to have grilled scallops and shrimp. I believe I had 2 tough scallops and maybe 4 shrimp served in floury gravy (not grilled and not tender). The scallops were even sliced in half to appear that they were serving you 4 not 2 scallops. Such a disappointing and embaraising meal considering we took guests. Will not return unless sugnificant changes are made! read more

Kudos to Olivia the bartender. My wife isn't a permanent resident here yet because of job obligations - I am permanent - but Olivia remembered us after 3 months and also remembered we were from New Jersey. She told us she takes notes on how to remember people to strike up a conversation. Now that's a bartender. As a bartender up north for 37 years, I was quite impressed. Food always fresh. We have been to the deep Lagoon several times in the last couple of months. The location, the views the atmosphere are all exceptional. However, the food continues to be marginal. We do not recommend this restaurant if you are expecting delicious food. Our opinion is that they need a really good chef. read more

Sat at the bar and worst service ever!!! Had to flag down bartender for everything. Even to order our food. My husband ordered the lunch Fish and Chips for $16. What a joke. One very small piece of Fish and 10 French fries!!! Just a side note. Went to Cheesecake Factory today and ordered their lunch Fish and Chips. 4 pieces of fish and so many fries we had to take some home. And it was $15. And also I ordered the lunch coconut shrimp salad at Deep Lagoon which was not too bad but when we got the bill I was charged for Dinner one!!!! Thank god I noticed it!!! The atmosphere was great, as were the views. However, the service was definitely subpar. One out of four people at our table had her salad forgotten. By the time the waitress came back around, our meals were coming out, and the waitress did not offer an apology at all about the salad. Additionally, for the hour and a half we were there, we did not get refills on our water, nor were we asked if we would like any refills on our drinks. It would have been nice to be able to flag her down to request that, but the waitress 'disappeared' for long stints of time. When it came time for our entrées to come out - again, one of our party of four was not brought out her meal. Nothing was said after the other three meals were dropped at the table. We were left assuming that it would be coming out shortly, yet it did not. When we finally were able to get the waitress to come over to the table, she said something about the fish being undercooked, so they didn't bring it out (thankfully) ...and they were going to bring it out 'shortly'. 25 minutes went by, and my friend's meal was still not at the table. The waitress never stopped by again to follow up. All of a sudden her meal was brought over by a man who just dropped it in front of her with a giant smile, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Unfortunately, it was not entirely what she ordered. My friend mentioned it to the man, and there was no apology. (we came to find out later, that the person who dropped it at our table was the manager ). At this point, the rest of the table were finished their meals! Our friend just wanted to take her meal home - it was such a shame. We go out to dinner once a month to enjoy a meal TOGETHER - and for her to feel she had to bring her dinner home was just so upsetting. What was more upsetting is that it did not appear that the staff cared one bit. We felt we had to press the matter. We wanted them to understand that how they acted, was not the proper way to handle a situation like this. We asked for them to comp her meal. It is not something that any of us make a usual practice of, yet due to the staff's uncaring and flip attitude, we collectively felt that it would help to make it right. The manager came over after about ten minutes, and was so darn flip and curt it made my blood boil. Unfortunately, I still have a bad taste in my mouth about this restaurant due to how they chose to react, and I'm not sure we will return. There are far better places in the area where we can enjoy a nice meal and receive much better service. read more

Big disappointment. Service was terrible. our waitress could have cared less. our drinks sat empty three different times and we had to call it out to her each time. Food arrived Luke warm. My second review of this restaurant and we had a much better experience than last time thanks to a surprisingly cordial front of house and an amazing waitress--Mason She would be awesome in any fine restaurant because she could not have done anything more to please our group of 2 tables of 6 each. And she had other tables to take care of as well but she didn't miss a beat. The only reason I am giving this review even 1 star is because our server was fabulous. However, the food was not. We seemed to have waited a rather long time for our order. There were four of us. Two of us had soup and a salad. My soup tasted more like tomato soup than the lobster bisque I ordered. When I spoke to our server, she said it was a tomato based soup. I love to cook and never heard of that before for lobster bisque. She removed it from out bill and did offer something else, but I just stuck with my salad. My friend had swordfish which was not good and hardly ate much of it. Her husband had fried clams but they were so hard and chewy he had a hard time eating them. My husband was okay but said it was not his best meal. This was not our first time there. It was a Friday night and they were not busy. We don't know if it was a new chef or if things are going down hill. We do know, however, that we won't be back. read more

We've been waiting to try Deep Lagoon, and have heard so many glowing reviews for this restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. We visited on Sunday night. The restaurant was busy, but not crowded. The location is lovely with a beautiful view of the bay - however, that was the only positive. Waitress was pleasant, but not super attentive. Food was mediocre at best. We tried the tri-tail, filet mignon, chilean seabass, oysters, stone crabs, and pasta. The fish dishes were bland and nearly tasteless, though fish was decent quality. Filet was overcooked and a bit dry, and served with boring butter mashed potatoes and asparagus. Oysters and stone crab were OK. The food is UN-INSPIRED, nothing special and so overpriced for what you get. Presentations are BORING, with no variation in flavor profiles. They serve a ton of dishes with bernaise sauce, come on guys, you can do better than that! We won't be back :( read more

I'd like to say upon first impressions walking into the restaurant it was quite impressive the view of the bay was stunning the staff very polite and service overall was excellent. I ordered the coconut shrimp I was quite disappointed in the meal. The shrimp was over cooked the mashed potatoes that came with the meal tasted like they were boxed The sautéed mushrooms seem like they came from the can warmed up and served in a little dish not much flavor. Couldn't carry on a conversation with the person right next to me because it was so loud from everybody talking I'm not an old person and noise doesn't bother me but you should be able to talk to somebody next to you without screaming I would come back for the view but not for the food. read more

Very disappointed! Had dinner tonight with my boyfriend and his parents for a birthday celebration. Birthday was never referenced, per my request. "Deer in head lights" all around with the servers. Reservation made, and confirmed over a week ago. And called yesterday to confirm my table request. We get there and get a table by the stairs, even after confirming a table view of the water. We said something to the manager... and after a lot of pushing, got moved to a table with a view (as requested). Slow service. Had to ask for bread AFTER our entrées were served. Another moment of confusion on the server(s) part. One server said, sorry... we are new. Think about 5 servers had to deliver our food for 4 people. Asked to have the salad split and was told that couldn't be done. My filet mignon was $50 and was tough and not worth the money. They are a new establishment, and do not have a hold of the menu yet, but for the money we spent, they are not staffed properly and/or do not know what they are doing, unfortunately. We went here for our anniversary and had heard good things. Unfortunately the rest of our experience was downhill. Our server looked like she had worn the shirt she was wearing for days. She took our order and we didn't see her until the check. The food was subpar at best. The oysters Rockefeller were just average with so much cheese the oyster was lost. The ahi tuna special appetizer was fair. The good pieces were good but several pieces were chewy and not even edible. The Mahi Thermador had no lobster and the sauce was not even close to what is described on the menu. Last but not least the $75 king crab legs were over cooked and cold. As you tried to get the meat out of the shell it would shred and extremely dry. Atmosphere was great but for $250 I would expect the service and food to be a little better. We will not be rushing back for any special occasions anytime soon. read more

I was anxious to try this brand new waterfront restaurant in Osprey, FL. It has a fantastic water view, which is reason enough to give it a try. However, it is just a chain restaurant in the southwest Florida region, so expect chain quality food. For the prices that they are charging I expect fresh cooked food, alas when asked our waiter if a certain ingredient could be left out of a sauce, we were told that their sauces come from bags that they cut open. read more

This was my first dinning experience here tonight around dinner time. The overall vibe of this place was hectic. The servers and bus boys did not seem to have a team going, definitely fending for themselves. The manager useless hanging out in a sling. The drink I ordered tasted watered down and unsweetened I had the pineapple upside down martini- do not recommend. Then the food came out I ordered the salmon broiled saffron rice and broccoli. The flavor from the rice tasted so artificial. The salmon dry and flavorless and mind you I usually just like my salmon with lemon salt and pepper and the broccoli which was suppose to have garlic and butter was completed tasteless and undercooked. I saw one snobby waitress coming out the kitchen blowing her nose without washing her hands touching her work screen which is shared short blond hair in the front and brown toward the back of her head. My waitress asked me if she could do anything to make the food better and I politely declined. The icing on the cake was my trip to the restroom where woman where standing with soap in their hands unable to wash it off bc the faucets had non running water. I politely let the receptionist know on the way out and she rudely while smiling but also being a total snob answered me with the quickness " yes we are well aware, we are waiting for the plumber" and I replied wow ok and walked out. Total health code violation, no running water, no hand sanitizer, no apologies just rudeness and the audacity to have 0 customer service, I feel bad for the being working here beautiful place but a shit show read more
