What a delicious sandwich we had here my wife and I split one as it was our first time here and I gotta say she went back the following day to have another one. That's how good they were. They also had a vinaigrette or some kind of sauce that came with the sandwich. It was almost like dipping sauce, and it was phenomenal. Highly recommended The staff at this place was super friendly, and A almost felt as though you were at home the place was super cool. Had a lot of pictures a lot of memories from the owner's family. That was really cool to see as well. Definitely going back here very soon.

    Croque monsieur

I think if you are purely getting bakery items such as pastries and bread - or any one of the beautiful desserts you can't go wrong - their batards are one of my personal faves. I ate in for the first time for breakfast and had the croque monsieur (full disclosure: I am a slight croque monsieur snob) but was a little disappointed. Béchamel sauce was on the bland side and while there had been some spread inside the bread (croissant loaf I believe - also didn't love that choice) there was no actual cheese inside, only ham. My dad had the salmon Monsieur and his was actually delicious and it was like eating a completely different Béchamel. Will return as the staff are friendly and efficient and pastries are yummy.

Stopped by for lunch on my recent trip to Sarasota. I had the best chicken sandwich. It had sun dried tomatoes & amazing mayo. My boyfriend loves this location, and it is not a wonder. Definitely worth the trip.

Just today I got croissant with scrambled eggs to go, but it did not go further than their parking lot. With respect to all French bakeries around- this is the best! Crowded, but service is quick. Love their Amandine as well..

My first time here with my husband. The customer service was a pleasure from Maria. The food was wonderful. From the main dish to the dessert. We sat outside. We like the touch they added with the mini Eiffel Tower model. Nice touch to supplement the beautiful Florida weather outside. The only con of sitting outdoors is the uninvited greedy guests known as flies that relentlessly tried to plant their filthy legs on our food. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our visit. We learned the owners are from France. So if you're looking for true expertise in French cuisine, look no further.

Let's all meet up here... rendezvous!! Nice unique French pastry shop in large plaza. They had a decent sized lunch menu on top of the pasties & desserts. Staff is all French here. Little bossy when our large party entered as the host said we were in her way. Feel like we're actually in Europe. Then as some left to go else where she exclaimed "where are you going!" Lol. The gentleman taking order was extra polite. Got a couple pastries & the French hotdog (beef inside a puff pastry)! Delicate n fluffy!! The description said beef sausage, but it was definitely just a hotdog. Side of fresh fruit or salad included. The fruit medley was perfect. Apricot danish was crispy outside & gooey & sweet inside. All the pastries looked amazing.

Loved coming here but not sure if there's a new baker or what? Last few visits the chocolate croissant I order has been chewy and you're lucky if you get more than 2 bites chocolate. The hot coco is not French where it's that rich flavor thickness just plain ole milk and syrup Starbucks is better.

Overall a pretty good French pastry shop Started with almond croissant, very good! Double Expresso served kinda cold and that was disappointing. Got a chicken sandwich on a croissant as well. It was tasty, but not enough to ever order again. Just didn't wow me unfortunately

Actually, just get there early anyway because the pastry items are fresher/better. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I typically skip trying to park next to it and just go to the garage and walk over. The service is more attentive than a typical French cafe overseas but not as on top of you as a typical place in the US. You can definitely order at the counter in French if you want to and I've had a waiter there flip between English, French, Spanish, and another language (maybe Romanian?) in one order. The sandwiches I've had were all lovely, and had a little side salad that could benefit from a better dressing (they serve an okay vinaigrette though). I've yet to encounter a single bad pastry - the elcairs, mousse cakes, and flaky pastries like chausson pommes are on par with the typical boulangerie/pattisserie in France and don't make me think US adaptation at all. Prices are reasonable.

It had that perfect authentic texture slightly crisp on the edges and soft in the middle. I also tried the cauliflower soup, which was a surprising highlight. It was incredibly creamy and flavorful honestly, one of the best soups I've had in a long time. Highly recommend this gem if you're in the area!

Glowing Review of Figaro Bistro…read more My wife and I, along with friends, recently had the pleasure of attending a 5-course French Wine Dinner event at Figaro Bistro and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the charming Hillview area of Sarasota, Florida, this quaint bistro is a culinary gem that truly deserves praise. The start of our culinary journey began with a robust Charcuterie presentation, a delightful assortment of cured meats, cheeses, and flavorful accompaniments. This was perfectly paired with a refreshing Rosé that complemented the richness of the charcuterie. I didn't know it yet, but it set the tone for what was to become an exquisite evening. Next, we enjoyed the Salad au Blue et Noix, which featured delectable blue cheese and candied walnuts. Each bite was beautifully balanced, and the dish was perfectly paired with a lovely Côte de Rhône that elevated the flavors even further. The main courses were astounding and truly the stars of the evening. Having sampled French Cuisine around the globe, I can say the Sea Bass with Parmesan Risotto was nothing short of a revelation. Without hesitation or reservation, it truly was one of the top three entrees I have ever experienced in my life. Everyone at our table wholeheartedly agreed. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the risotto was creamy with a delightful Parmesan kick. It was paired with a magnificent White Bordeaux that enhanced the entire dish. Equally impressive was the Boeuf Bourguignon, which melted in the mouth and was accompanied by a similarly excellent Burgundy Bordeaux. Without a doubt, these dishes showcased the chef's incredible talent and passion for French cuisine. To conclude our meal, (as if we could possibly eat any more) we indulged in a superb Poire Belle-Hélène, a classic dessert that was elegantly paired with Champagne. This delightful finale encapsulated the entire dining experience--rich, balanced, and utterly satisfying. Cozy Atmosphere and Heartfelt Hospitality The atmosphere at Figaro Bistro was cozy and inviting, perfect for an intimate dinner or a special celebration. Chef Ronny, even took the time to come out and engage with us, sharing insights into the various dishes we were served. The new owner Sue and her daughter Erika were genuinely warm, caring, and down-to-earth, adding a personal touch to the evening that made us feel truly valued as guests. Having sampled some of the finest cuisines from around the world, I can confidently say that Figaro Bistro stands out among them. This small, quaint establishment in Sarasota has cultivated a dining experience that's exceptional and memorable. I left feeling enriched, and I can't wait to return to explore more of their exquisite offerings.

The lobster bisque was flavorful but a little too thin. It didn't feel like a traditional bisque. Almost made me feel like they were making it more thinned out to keep the cost down. Although, I'm not sure that is true. The eggs Benedict was beautifully presented and the croissant it came on was delightful, but the egg was way over cooked. It felt like chewing on rubber. Actually, I didn't know an eggs texture could get that rubbery. Someone really really tried to overdo it haha. The hollandaise sauce was a little too tangy. The tang was overpowering the taste of the hollandaise. Overall, I hope they stay and business and keep providing the community with an ethnic experience. Maybe have tastings for the crew when there is something new and the crew needs to be honest with the chef. I didn't try the pastries because nothing jumped out at my but I'm glad they have it in the store for a nice homey touch. If I was looking for somewhere to eat, I would recommend this place for sure. We were guests in what our hosts described as "their favorite restaurant" and Yelp awards a 4-stars review...my conclusion was: either the restaurant was having a really bad night or reviewers have lost their understanding of what a 4-stars restaurant should be like. Our hosts ordered a bottle of white Bordeaux which the owner poured in our glasses as if she was pouring the lowly Sarasota water, filled our glasses almost to the top practically emptying the bottle. Then it was time to order, the lady host asked for the foie gras appetizer which she had absolutely recommended...Sorry, we are out! Appetizers: we ordered 2 Escargots, and the Homemade Country Pâté. The Escargots in herb butter were tasteless (I had to add some salt) and one of the snails was full of stones and grit. Main course: I asked for the Homemade Country Pâté which was portioned significantly less than what our host had gotten...was it to punish me for ordering 2 appetizers? My husband ordered the lamb chops...4 chops cooked to the point where they were tough, and a potato gratin reminiscent of a brick. Our hosts ordered the Pork Marco Polo and the Smoked Salmon Salad. I cannot comment on their entrees even though a comment was made that the pork was overcooked. The Salmon Salad did not look appetizing. But, the 'pièce de resistance' was when our host ordered Crêpe Suzette and was told that 'we are out of orange jam'...whaaat? You can find orange jam in any grocery store, you should never run out of orange jam. We have dined in many restaurant that we felt were subpar, this one won first price.
