What a delicious sandwich we had here my wife and I split one as it was our first time here and I gotta say she went back the following day to have another one. That's how good they were. They also had a vinaigrette or some kind of sauce that came with the sandwich. It was almost like dipping sauce, and it was phenomenal. I think if you are purely getting bakery items such as pastries and bread - or any one of the beautiful desserts you can't go wrong - their batards are one of my personal faves. I ate in for the first time for breakfast and had the croque monsieur (full disclosure: I am a slight croque monsieur snob) but was a little disappointed. Béchamel sauce was on the bland side and while there had been some spread inside the bread (croissant loaf I believe - also didn't love that choice) there was no actual cheese inside, only ham. My dad had the salmon Monsieur and his was actually delicious and it was like eating a completely different Béchamel. Will return as the staff are friendly and efficient and pastries are yummy. read more

Nice pastries and bread. We come here for brunch and food is always good. Just know the Clark location is super popular and gets super crowded. They have another location off of siesta key drive which is a bit more low key. Their sandwiches are always my go to fair. Nice and friendly staff. read more

This visit it was the ham & cheese croissant (with béchamel sauce), along with a small dish of fruit hit the spot! More than a bakery I tend to overlook Rendez-Vous thinking they are just a bakery, but they are much more. They are also a sit down restaurant with sandwiches, omelettes, and more. I realized that today when I was using Yelp to pick a place to eat this morning and read my old review. Almost all the indoor tables were occupied when I arrived but I saw and offered to sit at their counter. A quick scan of their menu and I knew what I wanted, their Croque Madame. My server came right over to take my order. Because I had gotten in and sat quickly, I didn't get a look at their pastries. I asked my server if they had a Raisin Roll and of course they did. Great. It only took a few minutes to get my coffee and raisin roll. I had planned to have the sandwich first and eat the raisin roll as sort of a breakfast dessert, but I couldn't help myself. The crispy flaky edge and buttery flavor was excellent. It wasn't as sweet as I expected. The Croque Madame was brought over after about 10 minutes. Now, if I was making a ham & cheese sandwich on toast at home, I would have included more ham and more cheese, but I was not at home and this was a pretty standard traditional French sandwich. Even still, I think it needed a little more and more flavorful cheese. The sandwich came with a small salad, although you can opt to substitute fruit. I was quite satisfied with the food. Regarding service, once I had my food no one checked on me and I had to be proactive to get a coffee refill. I do like the additional attention you usually find in American restaurants, but alright. Once I finished I again had to be proactive to pay. I do believe when you reach the money part restaurants regardless of cuisine should all work basically the same, bring a bill or at least tell the customer to go to the register to pay. In this instance I ended up going to the register where they entered what I had and I paid. I could pretty much tell if I just sat there and waited for a bill I may be there a while, so I only gave them a few minutes. This was not my first French restaurant visit, I've experienced this before. Please just drop off a bill. read more

My first time here with my husband. The customer service was a pleasure from Maria. The food was wonderful. From the main dish to the dessert. We sat outside. We like the touch they added with the mini Eiffel Tower model. Nice touch to supplement the beautiful Florida weather outside. The only con of sitting outdoors is the uninvited greedy guests known as flies that relentlessly tried to plant their filthy legs on our food. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our visit. Little bossy when our large party entered as the host said we were in her way. Feel like we're actually in Europe. Then as some left to go else where she exclaimed "where are you going!" Lol. The gentleman taking order was extra polite. Got a couple pastries & the French hotdog (beef inside a puff pastry)! Delicate n fluffy!! We were in Sarasota today looking at RV's, and we decided to stop for coffee and a light bite. So when we drove past a strip mall and Rendez-Vous bakery caught my eye! Of course I quickly looked it up on Yelp and it had almost 5 Stars. We got there about 40 minutes before they closed and their pastry and bread showcases were almost sold out! I ordered a smoked salmon and cream cheese 2 egg omelet that came with fresh fruit and a few pieces of French Bread. Dave ordered the Ham and Cheese Croque Sandwich, which was covered in delicious cheese and came with a side salad. I had a cup of delicious fresh brewed coffee and it was fresh and fragrant. There was a constant stream of customers coming in and taking home bakery items. So that tells you how popular this little place is! There is also outside seating. Service was terrible as usual but in addition to that the waitress was extremely rude. I sent the owner 2 emails letting him know what occurred at his restaurant this weekend. He did not respond to either email. I can only assume that he could care less. We love Rendez-Vous croissants! They are buttery and crisp and just so good! We stopped to get croissants and pastry's to bring to a brunch we were attending. We ordered several of each and we were given them stuffed in 2 bags... we could have asked for them to be repackaged and placed in a box but it was crowded near the cashier so we took them and of course regretted it... smooshed pastry! The fillings were all over and just a mess. That is not the way to package pastry ,especially at about 4 -5 dollars a pastry. We were so disappointed. In addition, we ordered a cappuccino to go and it was cold and no foam. A total underwhelming experience. Perfection ‼ Wonderful staff, and very nice atmosphere! Latte & chocolate croissant was the preview to see... how ...was the croissant- this to me can tell a lot about a place.... Tender, flaky and buttery with chocolate in the middle very nice as was the Latte..... So I decided to try the Croque Monsieur/Madam which is : good bread, béchamel sauce, butter, ham & gruyere cheese and a fried egg on top.( short version) there's way more to it than that. Good flaky croissant but since it was a custard croissant could have been more flavorful with just the slightest hint of custard. My husband's cinnamon apple turnover was good. The texture of the pastry was good and service good. My husband's double espresso was fine for a good tasting regular cup of coffee. A big fan of OfKors bakery here in Sarasota, I must concede that RENDEZ-VOUS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST BAKERY IN THE AREA! Everything is made in-house & everything is beyond good. This location is larger than the one I reviewed in 2020. It is open Tues thru Sat from 7:30 AM till 3 PM & from 8 AM till 3 PM on Sun (closed Mon). You'll find interior tables & bar stools, as well as a front patio complete w/ tables. There is a general, online PASTRY MENU whose subcategories include Cakes, Tarts, French Specialties, & Holiday Season. (See pic.) Catering amounts & prices are visible. There's a combined BREAKFAST & LUNCH MENU, as well as two gorgeous pastry cases-- SEE PICS. AS A GENERAL RULE, IF IT LOOKS DELICIOUS, IT IS DELICIOUS! There's something about the French & their flakey layers. Everything here is EXCEPTIONAL! You just may find all five siblings working behind the counter (I counted three on our visit), & you'll definitely hear French accents among staff & even customers. This is a seven-member family-owned business w/ two locations dating back to 2015. Pior to arrival in the U.S., for twenty years, the Garcia family owned a bakery in Sete, France. The family's experience shows! Not only was every pastry PERFECT w/ it flakey layers, but @ $11.99, the QUICHE LORRAINE WAS OUTSTANDING. Not ever a fan of quiche, it was the first quiche I have ever liked! I not only liked it, I L0VED it! Apparently, it's made w/ heavy cream rather than milk-- there was nothing dry about it. It was moist & INCREDIBLE-- SEE PIC. We selected fresh fruit as our side; a small salad was the other available option. Our second breakfast entree was the French Hotdog @ $8.25 (w/ fresh fruit for the side). It was slightly deceiving as it is listed as a "beef sausage" on the menu. Although we'd rather have eaten a genuine sausage, it was good & the surrounding pastry, w/ its fine layers, was EXCELLENT-- see pic. Service was punctual considering the business had just been slammed w/ customers. Our French server was new & made mistakes, but he was apologetic, friendly, & worked hard. We grabbed multiple pastries & a loaf of bread prior to leaving-- not all were photographed. With approximately nine loaves of available FRESH BREAD baked & displayed daily, we wish we had purchased another loaf-- the Walnut Cramberry called to us:) Other varities included (but are not limited to) Sourdough, Sesame, Whole Wheat, Sunflower, Olive, Multi-Grain, & Champagne Sourdough Rye. All you need to do is to look at the photos of the Raspberry, Blueberry, & Peach Tarts, Paris Brest, & Galette (a Puff pastry w/ Almond paste) to understand how utterly & insanely delicious these pastries are. It's the thin, flakey layers! Not pictured is a smaller loaf of sweet bread, as well as a Blueberry & a Chocolate Croissant (that apparently were so good that my dining buddy ate them too quickly for me to photograph. Lol). He said they were phenomenal. Check out the two-page brunch menu (PIC) to learn what's offered here. The pastries in the cases may differ daily. Hot beverages, iced coffees, sodas, juices, beers, & wines are available. Will we return? No doubt! WE'LL STOP IN EACH TIME WE'RE IN THE AREA-- if not to eat brunch (i.e. the delicious quiche), than to grab pastries to go. I could not recommend this particular bakery any higher. Ended up here for breakfast while waiting on my mother to have an MRI nearby. There's no need for you to know that and I don't know why I am not deleting it. Moving on. Went overboard and ordered their curry chicken omelet which came with coffee and juice, but also le parisian, which was a baguette and a croissant. Lots of food. Everything was very good. The baguette and croissant were almost as good as I remember from paris and Bordeaux. Certainly better than anywhere else I can think of in the area. The omelet, however, while good wasn't great. The curry chicken was a bit odd for an omelet. I enjoyed it, I didn't love it. I'd go 4.5 stars if I could but I can't. Service was very friendly and prompt. Now ask me if after a 390 day streak on Duolingo if I spoke a word of French to any of the French people working there. Of course not. That would take confidence. I did understand about every 5th word on the French radio they were playing though. read more

This locally owned bakery/cafe is an amazing spot for baked goods. I came to pick up a few baked goods most recently and I was pleasantly surprised. The cafe is cute and nicely appointed. There was several tables outdoors in front of the bakery for al fresco dining as well as several tables indoors. The cafe offers breakfast and lunch and is open until 3pm. The staff on our visit was courteous and friendly. I believe the owners are French expats and they stay true to their cultural roots with their offerings. We got several pastries and a sourdough olive loaf. We adored everything, especially the almond tart that had pears on it, the almond croissant, as well as the olive loaf. The almond croissant was out of this world--it was better than any I have ever had, even in Europe (see pictures). The coatings that is applied to the outside as well as the flaky layers and filling really set it apart from the rest. I look forward to going back again and having breakfast or lunch. Rendez-Vous' bread and pastry is the NUMBER ONE in my heart!! Comfortable place to have breakfast and enjoy the morning. I like going early in the morning when the bread is still warm, crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. One time, I ate half a load without butter or jam or olive oil dipping. I don't have a picture for you because we ate everything too fast. We choose to grab and go since we popped by after doing a nearby escape room and it was amazing! We are already talking about going back. On our visit we ordered two chocolate croissants, over sour dough loaf and a pastry twists with cream (not sure what the name is) all for just $13. I can't believe there is an authentic French pastry without all of the Americanized bells and whistles so close to home. I will be making this 45 minute commute often now that I know it exists and is very easy to get to, right of off the Clark Road. Update: We went back the next day, Sunday, for lunch. Although many pastries were picked over the selection was still very nice and the lunch menu was great.
