Actually, just get there early anyway because the pastry items are fresher/better. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I typically skip trying to park next to it and just go to the garage and walk over. The service is more attentive than a typical French cafe overseas but not as on top of you as a typical place in the US. You can definitely order at the counter in French if you want to and I've had a waiter there flip between English, French, Spanish, and another language (maybe Romanian?) in one order. The sandwiches I've had were all lovely, and had a little side salad that could benefit from a better dressing (they serve an okay vinaigrette though). I've yet to encounter a single bad pastry - the elcairs, mousse cakes, and flaky pastries like chausson pommes are on par with the typical boulangerie/pattisserie in France and don't make me think US adaptation at all. Prices are reasonable.

I do feel like the portion and the quality is a little lacking for the price. That being said, I don't know that there are better French options in the area. I also got a palmier pastry and I should have gotten a croissant, the palmier tasted a little stale. The locale was adorable, with beautifully tiles tables really setting the scene. Overall, not terrible! Worthwhile if you're really feeling French.

The bread was homemade with a stunning flower shaped butter which was well seasoned. They gave us an amuse bouche which was creamy vegetable soup - delicious! Scallops were seared nicely with a unique tangerine beurre blanc which complimented them well. Finished with a delicious gooey chocolate lava cake. The dinner, ambiance, and service were phenomenal. Everyone works together seamlessly to make sure every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. We chose Antoine's to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been a better choice. It's the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. The food was outstanding. We started with the mussels, and I've never seen such an extensive selection anywhere else--there must have been at least 10 different preparations to choose from. The duck and the scallops, both house specialties, were cooked perfectly and absolutely lived up to their reputation. To finish, we shared the French puff pastry filled with warm, melted Belgian chocolate. It was pure heaven and the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. If you're looking for an authentic Belgian-French dining experience with incredible food and even better hospitality, Antoine's is a true hidden gem in Sarasota. Unfortunately, this visit was different. while the shop was not busy, a lady in my group was spoken to in a way that we felt was dismissive and unwelcoming. it left us with the impression that we had interrupted whatever was going on at the time. as someone who enjoys supporting local businesses, that was disappointing to experience. I don't normally write reviews like this because I understand that everyone can have a bad day. however, I felt it was important to share my experience in hopes that it helps improve future customer interactions. Please don't let my experience discourage you from visiting. we have had many great visits here in the past, which is why this experience stood out. I also hope to see the lady who is normally here when we visit, as she has always been friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service. We will absolutely visit again in the future, and I hope this was simply an isolated experience. If the owner or management would like to discuss what happened, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to share more details privately. THANK YOU
