French Onion soup. Do not pass on this. Excellent!

Bonjour! Run, do not walk to this mouth watering French bistro. The breakfast, French onion soup, croissants, tradition and other baked goods are French kiss. It is a busy place, we were there around 10 on Saturday morning and it was a revolving door the entire time but it did not take away from our experience. The service was top notch and everyone there was French so it just added to the experience. It was worth the hour drive from Largo and we will be there again. Merci!

This French Bakery is a must when you are visiting Sarasota. Absolutely fantastic breads! But they also offer sandwiches and other delicious dishes! If you enjoy traditional delicious fresh made bread you have to come here! Food, Ambience and Service are fantastic!!

We picked up amazing treats from this authentic French bakery. It is amongst the best in turn and we visited many. Almond croissants are the best option in my opinion to try. Excellent fruit tart options all rich and nice pie crust. I loved the lemon tart. So silky and delightful. We did not get to try the fresh bread selection but I am sure they were excellent. We got to try coffee, and latte pistachios flavor which was so tasty. So many options to try may be in future visits. The bakers are were so friendly and informative.

Great pastries, friendly & quick service, and cute setting. Looking for perfect bakery...this is it! So sad that we didn't discover this place until we were headed out to the airport. It was hard to just pick 2...we settled on the Chocolate Almond Croissant and the Almond Croissant. Both were perfectly flaky and full of flavor! Can't wait to visit again.

This review is based on pastries takeouts for a couple of weekday mornings in April 2021. + Ambiance is a tiny bakery located in an unremarkable strip mall on Siesta off the Trail. ++ Food is French pastries and breads. They offer sandwiches, coffees, other beverages and catering too. These are pastries we tried. ++ Panne raisin, chocolate and almond croissants were tasty = Brioche was a miss + mini and regular croissants were buttery and good ++ Blueberry roll was delish + Tooth bread was good Box presentations were nice with sheets of paper in between pastries. We would get all but the brioche again. + Price is on the higher side but not unreasonable + Service was friendly and prompt. + Parking is free but limited and shared.

5 stars for this 2015 French bakery that's open 7:30 AM till 3 PM Tuesday thru Saturday. The owners (a French husband & wife) & their 5 children manage this location & a second one that's a sit-down cafe & bakery located in Palmer Crossing on Clark Rd. According to the business page, the owners are "French artisans," and all pastries "are made in house." Baguettes, Croissants, Turnovers, Coffees, Quiches, Omlettes, Pasteries... & SO MUCH MORE await you! The moment I opened the front door, I was hit w/ the wonderful aroma of freshly baked breads. Upon entering, my eyes were almost immediately drawn to the $5 & $6 loaves of bread atop a pastry case-- Olive, Cranberry Walnut, Tooth Bread, Sourdough, Batard, Sunflower, Sesame, & Whole Wheat. The menu includes nine sandwiches that range in price from $8.15 to $9.99; two salads ($8.99 & $9.40); thirteen hot drinks plus a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte; five cold drinks; sodas; juices; & a variety of breads & pastries. There are two cases of GORGEOUS baked goods. I brought home three delectable pastries-- SEE PICS. My favorite was the $4.95 PARIS-BREST w/ its nutty flavor & delicious cream center. The APRICOT TART @ $4.95 was also wonderful-- the fruit fresh; the custard delicious; & the pie shell was just the right texture. The CHOCOLATE TART @ $3.85 surprised me-- it had an extremely rich dark chocolate flavor. I loved it! The interior, w/ its one small red two-person table, was clean & brightly lit. There is outside seating (see pic), so feel free to bring a canine. I gather that most people do as I; they take their orders to go. Prices were reasonable (compared to many eateries that sell similar bakery items); service by the owners' son (Simon) was very friendly; & all three pastries were EXCELLENT. This bakery won the honor of Sarasota Magazine Best of 2020. Rendez-Vous is represented @ the Venice Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 AM till Noon. Catering is offered w/ 48 hour advanced notice. A minimum order of $75 is required for delivery. (There is a delivery fee.) Available are Mini-Quiches; 4 flavors of Big Quiches; Mini-Pastries; Mini Croissants; 8 Sandwich Plates; 13 flavors of Mousse Cake; & Apple Tart. Special requests are accepted. I will definitely stop in the next time I'm visiting the area-- the Cranberry Walnut Loaf, Olive Loaf, & a handful of sweet offerings are beggin' to be sampled:)

Good smells I spotted this place a few days ago and made a quick stop this morning for a couple of Chocolate Croissants. The place was bright and open and had a large selection of items. Smelled nice inside too. I received a pleasant greeting when I walked in. I knew just what I wanted so my visit lasted only a minute. During that minute I learned they have been at this location for a couple of months. This is their second place, and we have visited and liked their first on Clark Rd up around Honore Ave. I didn't notice their menu but assume they offer some sandwiches as well as pastries. Anyway, the croissants were delicious and a great addition to our breakfast this morning.

A shopping bag full of delicious pastries and breads.

The staff is extremely attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was wonderful, I have eaten a lot of food this year but when I say the cornmeal crusted Gulf Oysters appetizer was in the top 5 of best things I have eaten this year I mean it! The perfect balance of salty and umami with grated cheese, sweet peppers on top of a crunchy base sprinkled with capers. My dinner mate and I literally could not stop audibly Mmm'ing as we ate it. The potato salad was delicious and a great accompaniment. I thoroughly enjoyed their happy hour selection as well which allowed us to try their muffuletta sandwich along with their boudin balls, two offerings we have never had before, without committing to the full size. Both were delicious and the bun on the mini Mufuletta was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside in all of the best ways (I would not be upset if they just served these buns as a side). Overall, Lucky 8 made me feel pretty Lucky to try their food. This is an awesome lunch/dinner spot in Sarasota and you definitely have to give it a try. May 1, 2026 - two for dinner before a show at Florida Studio Theater…read more My first visit. An easy walk from the FST parking and the FST theater. Drinks very reasonable and decent volume/quantity/pour. A buck for my soda water with lemon..... a bargain for the driver and non-drinker! The boss got 10 wings, 1/2 parm cheese and 1/2 barbecue. The reputation is best wings in Sarasota??? She like flats only and we paid $1 for just flats. This was a very nice option as I the whole food plant based "spartan vegan" will usually cringe at leaving those drums behind or wasted??? I did try one of each though. I believe they are baked and then before serving deep fried to crisp them up and heat them. Sadly the barbecued ones where burnt (see picture) and a little too crisped. The meat and most of the wing and the flavor was pretty good. 5/10 The parm wings where actually the opposite and the meat and wing undercooked, but the deep fry dunking crisped up the skin which would have been really raw and rubbery. These were also seasoned nicely and tasty. 8/10 Both easily fantastic with attention to pre-cooking and cooking? I got the Cup o' Spuds (sweet potato) in a little basket. These were pretty deeply fried and a few blackened/burnt but were nice and hot and flavorful and couple burned gave it some character and was a big deal. The menu is very limited for whole food plant based, vegetarian, vegan, nutritarian mix and match or anything....... so went with one of the three salads. the Side Salad I got an entree size. Romaine, diced tomatoes, cucumbers and black olives and a balsamic. My server missed my point after the second ask about adding "protein". I would have LOVED to have seen some black, pinto, kidney, navy, garbanzo, or any kind of BEANS to add to this salad as a "PROTEIN" or a quinoa, or even scoop of rice or edamame or even a few chunks of toasted or grilled tofu!!!! The salad ingredients were fresh and a nice amount of each. Dressing good but I only used a little since I thought I had asked for Balsamic Vinegar (no oil) and this was a Balsamic "Dressing" with actually quite a bit of oil. Service by "Nightime Bar B" was very attentive and friendly. REALLY good! Fielded our myriad of questions and we were never wanting or waiting. We had a long discussion about the wings which is why my wife wanted to go here. Maybe I should have put this first.......but the pricing was EXTREMELY reasonable especially for Main Street and I guess technically IN Season? The drinks about $12 for a Cosmo, Tito and club $10 ? Tax, tags, tip at 20% plus and we got out under $70 for two!!! VERY nice! Good spot. We will be back!!! As we have just about completed the Mainstreet and City of Sarasota circuit these guys are in the "rotation" for a before cabaret or full production play at the FST.
