Their coffee? To die for! Their bread?? Take me now that was hands down the best! They perfectly baked the baguette! We got a ham and Swiss baguette and it so so tasty! All the flavors were up front and there! Definitely try them when you are in the area! read more

I prefer this location versus Clark which gets MANY more eat in customers and has a narrow parking lot. Clark Street, very charming, does offer a variety of breakfast, lunch and delicious pastry options. THIS location on Siesta, is calmer, easier to get to, not on a busy road, offers the same menu, same outstanding variety of pastries , has a staff who are most gracious, AND you can have a perfect meal with your beloved pet outside too. Easy close parking ! Lived in NYC 1970's-1980's when perhaps the BEST small French patisserie called " Bonte Patisserie " existed on 3rd Ave in the 70's, run by a lovely French couple for years until retirement. Rendevous is not a Bonte, which was a 10, but comes close. Their menu is wise from a business cost strategy. I have ordered their best cakes, over the last 5 years. They were very good. Love their almond croissant, fresh fruit tarts, napoleon, anything with whipped cream ( many of their deluxe cakes ). The apple turnover was unfortunately thick, bit doughy no flavor-butter, very little apple (would delete) hence 4 stars. The bakery business today is very hard because of their products' fragile shelf life and the cost of using butter has sky-rocketed! To guarantee the survival of these lovely charming and DELICIOUS destinations, we must must support them!! Enjoy! read more

This is a lovely small pastry place with a flare. Everyone is very nice and they hear you since it's a small shop. When I first came I thought they only serve the pastries, But after my order, I realized that there's a menu for a quick lunch items such as sandwich andsoup. My pastry was lovely; it was crunch but also chewy. I ended up buying more things after having these bites. read more

Bonjour! Run, do not walk to this mouth watering French bistro. The breakfast, French onion soup, croissants, tradition and other baked goods are French kiss. It is a busy place, we were there around 10 on Saturday morning and it was a revolving door the entire time but it did not take away from our experience. The service was top notch and everyone there was French so it just added to the experience. It was worth the hour drive from Largo and we will be there again. Merci! read more

We picked up amazing treats from this authentic French bakery. It is amongst the best in turn and we visited many. Almond croissants are the best option in my opinion to try. Excellent fruit tart options all rich and nice pie crust. I loved the lemon tart. So silky and delightful. We did not get to try the fresh bread selection but I am sure they were excellent. We got to try coffee, and latte pistachios flavor which was so tasty. So many options to try may be in future visits. The bakers are were so friendly and informative. read more

Great pastries, friendly & quick service, and cute setting. Looking for perfect bakery...this is it! So sad that we didn't discover this place until we were headed out to the airport. It was hard to just pick 2...we settled on the Chocolate Almond Croissant and the Almond Croissant. Both were perfectly flaky and full of flavor! Can't wait to visit again. read more

Delicious authentic French sandwiches made by this family owned restaurant. Creative menu and variety.

This review is based on pastries takeouts for a couple of weekday mornings in April 2021. + Ambiance is a tiny bakery located in an unremarkable strip mall on Siesta off the Trail. ++ Food is French pastries and breads. They offer sandwiches, coffees, other beverages and catering too. These are pastries we tried. ++ Panne raisin, chocolate and almond croissants were tasty = Brioche was a miss + mini and regular croissants were buttery and good ++ Blueberry roll was delish + Tooth bread was good Box presentations were nice with sheets of paper in between pastries. We would get all but the brioche again. + Price is on the higher side but not unreasonable + Service was friendly and prompt. + Parking is free but limited and shared. read more

Love the simple, wholesome offerings. Their Artisan bread is crunchy and I alway leave with a loaf and some delicious items from the bakery case. This Linzer tart is massive and featured a bunny cutout at Easter! Small place. Food service. Nice place to meet a friend for lunch. read more

5 stars for this 2015 French bakery that's open 7:30 AM till 3 PM Tuesday thru Saturday. The owners (a French husband & wife) & their 5 children manage this location & a second one that's a sit-down cafe & bakery located in Palmer Crossing on Clark Rd. According to the business page, the owners are "French artisans," and all pastries "are made in house." Baguettes, Croissants, Turnovers, Coffees, Quiches, Omlettes, Pasteries... & SO MUCH MORE await you! The moment I opened the front door, I was hit w/ the wonderful aroma of freshly baked breads. Upon entering, my eyes were almost immediately drawn to the $5 & $6 loaves of bread atop a pastry case-- Olive, Cranberry Walnut, Tooth Bread, Sourdough, Batard, Sunflower, Sesame, & Whole Wheat. The menu includes nine sandwiches that range in price from $8.15 to $9.99; two salads ($8.99 & $9.40); thirteen hot drinks plus a seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte; five cold drinks; sodas; juices; & a variety of breads & pastries. There are two cases of GORGEOUS baked goods. I brought home three delectable pastries-- SEE PICS. My favorite was the $4.95 PARIS-BREST w/ its nutty flavor & delicious cream center. The APRICOT TART @ $4.95 was also wonderful-- the fruit fresh; the custard delicious; & the pie shell was just the right texture. The CHOCOLATE TART @ $3.85 surprised me-- it had an extremely rich dark chocolate flavor. I loved it! The interior, w/ its one small red two-person table, was clean & brightly lit. There is outside seating (see pic), so feel free to bring a canine. I gather that most people do as I; they take their orders to go. Prices were reasonable (compared to many eateries that sell similar bakery items); service by the owners' son (Simon) was very friendly; & all three pastries were EXCELLENT. This bakery won the honor of Sarasota Magazine Best of 2020. Rendez-Vous is represented @ the Venice Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 AM till Noon. Catering is offered w/ 48 hour advanced notice. A minimum order of $75 is required for delivery. (There is a delivery fee.) Available are Mini-Quiches; 4 flavors of Big Quiches; Mini-Pastries; Mini Croissants; 8 Sandwich Plates; 13 flavors of Mousse Cake; & Apple Tart. Special requests are accepted. I will definitely stop in the next time I'm visiting the area-- the Cranberry Walnut Loaf, Olive Loaf, & a handful of sweet offerings are beggin' to be sampled:) read more

This place is just amazing. Everything is so fresh and beautiful when you walk in it's hard to choose just a few things. We stayed and grabbed some breakfast. We both had the veggie omelette. It was the best omelette I've ever had. It was so light and fluffy and delicious. The iced black coffee was so smooth and tasty. This just might be one of my new fave places and it's just around the corner we. . Definitely a place worth checking out. Best bakery in town. read more

So authentic, absolutely delicious. Wonderful staff and the family that owns it are amazing. Highly recommend!!

Not open as advertised - the whole strip of shops looked pretty dead. We eventually found a donut place nearby.

Fabulous croissants and baguettes! Loved my sandwich as well. Everything is so fresh and wonderful!

Good smells I spotted this place a few days ago and made a quick stop this morning for a couple of Chocolate Croissants. The place was bright and open and had a large selection of items. Smelled nice inside too. I received a pleasant greeting when I walked in. I knew just what I wanted so my visit lasted only a minute. During that minute I learned they have been at this location for a couple of months. This is their second place, and we have visited and liked their first on Clark Rd up around Honore Ave. I didn't notice their menu but assume they offer some sandwiches as well as pastries. Anyway, the croissants were delicious and a great addition to our breakfast this morning. read more

Best pastries in Sarasota!! Best breakfast and lunch, nothing fancy just good quality !

Ooh La La ! Magnifique ! Incroyable ! As someone always searching for quality bread I was very excited to find the Rendez-vous on Siesta Drive. The baguette is the best in the area . They also have a loaf called an Epi which is perfect for breaking off pieces and schmearing with butter or boursin .I reside in Tampa and will be driving to Sarasota just to get this bread. The croissants are just as good. I particularly liked the chocolate which had just the right amount of chocolate inside. My " Significant Other" aka Bready , who has been referred to as a croissant snob sez these are the best she's had since her time in Paris. We have not tried the sweet pastries yet but they look delicious. read more

Delicious food...croissants are better than the ones in France. Croque madame also wonderful!

My co worker stopped over and brought me over one of your croissants. I never knew a croissant can't taste that good! Omg it was the one with almonds. Can you just open 24/7?! I will be over myself and check out your awesome sandwich's too! It looks awesome! I can't post a pic because I ate it too quick. read more

Amazing, excellent French bakery. So buttery and not overly sweet. I tried the cinnamon roll and this long buttery, just sweet enough pastry. (Can't remember what it's called). Did I mention amazing flavor? This is one of my favorite bakeries now. Love it! read more

We loved the pastries, the Tuna Nicoise sandwich and the cafe au lait, but the quiche was truly spectacular, a most delicious pastry shell containing the perfect amounts of cheese, eggs and bacon. In our 2+ weeks in the area, we ate here three times. The cafe's location in a strip mall doesn't live up to its food, it's true, and though we mostly ate outside this visit for covid reasons, eating inside gets you more in a francophile mood. read more
