We love this bakery . There is not one item we have purchased there that we didn't love . It's a busy place but they regularly take orders and you can just pick them up The girl up front is excellent and very nice . It's very busy now that it's season but I'm picky and it's worth waiting in line which happened last week . The line goes fast and you won't be disappointed. read more

It's located in a tiny strip-mall in a mostly residential area. There is no sit down insIde, only standing room for ~4-6 peeps. There's a couple of tables on their side walk. ++. We tried their ww sourdough and a cardamom bun. They had several sourdoughs. I like my sourdough fresh baked and extra tangy. Not lip-puckering but enough flavor to eating carbs worthwhile. Their whole wheat sd boule was crusty outside and medium spongy inside. Each bite was soft, doughy and perfectly chewy with delicious tang! Their cardamom bun was sugar dusted and the texture and the soft crunch were amazing! It was tasty but the sugar overpowered little cardamom taste. +. Price is higher but not unreasonable. +. Service was friendly but not super helpful to a new customer. I would have liked to learn more about their bakery focus and better descriptions of their breads. (I.e., besides diff grains, what's the difference among several sourdoughs?) +. Parking is a TiNy shared lot Their superb sourdough is best I've found on the East Coast and next time, I'll be here in the morning. We love bread bandits! They use unbleached flour from France. Their sourdough is delicious as well as their croissants.

Usually I am raving about this place, but I am disappointed with one item I purchased for Christmas. I had tried a pumpkin pie two years ago for thanksgiving. It was delicious. I decided to splurge on a pumpkin pie for Christmas. Yikes, the crust was thick and tough and there was not a lot of pumpkin filling (less than an inch in height). A friend also purchased a pumpkin pie and it was the same. On a more positive note - I tried the cinnamon croissants....yum. And the sour dough bread was great. I will continue to purchase the breads, but no more pies. read more

Our nephew runs the Blackbird Baking Company in Toronto where he has been setting records with his sourdough based Artisan bakery. He told us to drop by to see his ex-head baker and good friend Bradley who has started his own bakery business along with his partner here in Sarasota. Delighted we did! Brad is very friendly and obviously paid attention during his tenure at Blackbird. His products are fabulous. We have been coming to Sarasota for 15 years and this is the first time we have been able to source real baguettes - not just crispy breadsticks with the texture of wonder bread. This is the highest rated bakery around. I had a few of their products and most did not disappoint. I did get the sourdough baguette and that did disappoint. Did not even tasted like sourdough. Maybe the guy gave me a regular one by mistake as they look the same. I live by there so I pass by it all the time. Never seen a line when I drive by and I'm the only one there when I did go in. This morn i got the pistachio croissant. Delicious but $8 was not. What's wrong with this picture? Is it prices, marketing? This is a no frills place. No coffee, no napkins, not even bags for your croissant. Just a small box that didn't fit. That's totally disappointing. Someone should buy this place and show em how it's done!!! read more

Service was beyond excellent in explaining each item and what goes into them. We got two bread loaves and a danish, bread was amazing for anything you could think of using it for. Danish was a great dessert with a soft sweet cream and an airy croissant dough, I just wish it had more cream lol. They also have merch for sale. Absolutely love Bread Bandits! This bakery is incredible, and the team is so dedicated. Hands down, they have the BEST bagels and focaccia bread we've ever tasted! The bagels are the perfect size, not too thick, with a wonderfully moist texture--so delicious! As for the focaccia, I can't wait to get more. It's super moist and packed with flavor. Their banana bread and chocolate chip cookies are also top-notch, along with the brioche rolls. We're staying here for two months and just discovered it in my second month--so glad we did! There's only two of us, so we haven't had a chance to try the bread or croissants yet, but we'll definitely be back next year to try them, especially when we have company. We're already planning to stay for three months next year, and Bread Bandits will definitely be worth the 30-minute drive 2-4 times a week! Besides being burnt and having a hole, it measured 6 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" thick ( at its highest point. Wow. Just wow. The best croissants I have ever had!! I just recently came back from Paris and have been looking for good croissants here in Sarasota. I came across Bread Bandits at the Waterside Sunday farmers market and decided to try their butter croissant. It was easily better than any of the croissants I had while in Paris. I stopped by the bakery location with a friend and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Definitely try this place out!! read more

I rarely give 5 stars because I believe there's always room for improvement. But, if the bread is outstanding, and the service is great there's nothing to improve. I stopped in two weeks ago, one week ago and will stop in again today before going back to NY. I've tried the croissants, and a couple of sourdough loaves. Love love love the rye. Very close to the NY rye we've grown up with. Great toast and outstanding sandwiches. Patron this business. It's a keeper. read more

We went late in the day around 5:30 pm and were surprised that they were open. The bread is 10/10 but they are very skimpy with the sandwich fillings. I'm talking one or two pieces of deli ham on a Cuban that cost $11.25 with no side. We ate the sandwiches and were still very hungry. For $22.50 plus tax and tip that's not acceptable to me. read more
