We really like coming to Deep Lagoon especially with friends and family, after visiting multiple times over the last year or so the one thing that makes us pause is the seating situation. Someone is always hanging off the end of the table a four top really should only have 2 ppl and 6 tops should really be 4. I get they want to get ppl in but hanging of the end of the table bc they are squeezing in an extra seat and paying the amount you do no matter how good the food or service just kind of ruins it. read more

The restaurant is beautiful and very relaxing. The service was amazing as well. Someone in our group got an overcooked steak and they quickly sent another one. The food itself was just not good however. The coconut shrimp were way overcooked and almost burnt and just didn't feel like sending it back. I think working a little harder at better quality cooking would be good. Will go there again for a drink and an app but never for a dinner again. read more

We had a Friday night reservation for a party of two; first time visitors. The place was packed and quite noisy, but very lively too. The a/c must have been on low, because it was really warm inside. Our waitress was great, super efficent and friendly. Definitely try the crab rangoons, delicious! CON: We waited at least 40 minutes for our meal after the appetizer was served. Was told the kitchen was backed up due to a large party. If the service is like that on a regular basis, they need to fix it somehow. Would return and see, but have gone home after vacationing in Sarasota. read more

The restaurant is pretty and the views are outstanding. The hostesses were pleasant. We were standing near the open concept kitchen while waiting for a table and noticed multiple instances of very poor food safety practices. For example: raw shrimp stored next to cooked shrimp... raw shrimp stored above cooked lobster... raw fish next to cooked lobster... cut fish sitting out for at least the 30 min we were there... seafood tower being built by the same person making salads who never changed their gloves between activities... oysters stored piled up with many not in ice or anywhere near it...etc. It was so gross we left before being sat. read more

The view was lovely and a relaxed vibe. The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed but trying to stay calm at the same time. Not sure what the staffing situation is or if it was her. Things just seemed off. I ordered a salad no tomato and extra cucumber, it came just as a regular salad with tomato, not the end of the world just a lack of attention to detail. We had one fish order that was 5 Oz cooked through and one 8oz. We think that was flip flopped. They addressed it by sending out a bit more fish. Thank goodness because the first piece was way over cooked. This is from a 14 yr. old who doesn't really care that much. We also ordered a seafood chill. Again the lobster on it was over cooked. You are definitely paying for the view. I'm a bit torn on this review, if we stopped with apps I'd probably bump it up to 4 but my entree (fish and chips) was just awful, super dry and cold. They could also do with a better beer list, with so many great breweries around Tampa Bay to not even have one local option aside from a mediocre IPA from ft Lauderdale is a shame. That being said the fried oysters and coconut shrimp salad were awesome and I'd come back just for them. My husband's entree (seafood fra diavolo) was also way better than mine. My wife and I ate at the restaurant recently. The atmosphere was awesome. Drinks are on the stingy side with kind of a premium price. My Greek salad was very bare bones, my mussels tasted ok. I just figured that an outstanding place on the water with very premium prices I would of been wowed. Unfortunately the extra 50 spent on dinner for 2 would be incredible. 230.00 w tip I expected more. Although the staff, and management are top notch. The restaurant is very comfortable and welcoming. Stop by for a meal and you will still be pleased. They just need to upgrade either the Chef or recipes. read more

The atmosphere is what you pay for. The food is very average, my 5oz piece of grouper was overdone and very unappetizing looking. Another guest in our group ordered the larger piece of grouper and that was also tough and had a grayish color. We were with a group of people so I did not complain, otherwise I would have definitely returned my fish. The service was good, our waiter was working hard. Great atmosphere. Had small clams appetizer, I did not care for it as it was chewy and served in a bowl of melted butter. My friend had a salad with shrimp/seafood salad maybe and served in a ramekin of creamy/Alfredo sauce seafood which we both thought was interesting and strange not to be served directly on the salad. Go for the view. This place has one of the best dining views in the area. Be sure to sit outside. Justin was a knowledgeable and attentive server. He immediately brought a gluten free menu when he learned that one of has gluten issues. The food was what one would expect for this sort of place. If I would change one thing it would be the draft beer list. It's sort of blah, with only one Florida beer. Sorry three stars is all I can give this place. They have a very poor beer selection Only one IPA on tap and it's that nasty 5.9 water down so called beer Strike one. Atmosphere is rather stuffy. Like no personality! If that makes sense. When you walk in a new place and you either get that welcome feeling or one that kinda puts you on edge? Felt like the latter Strike two. Food was amazing The grab Rangoon is two thumbs up . If you go during happy hr prices are not bad for what they offer and it's limited. Now after happy hour is over run! Prices go up!! Not the first time at DL however invited friends as we had a 40% off entire bill coupon from their online services celebrating the opening of two new locations. Ah, not so fast, Kemosabe, the embarrassed waitress informed us that we had to go to one of the two new restaurants to get the discount. Asked for manager, he talked a good game, took my name and phone number, implied someone would be calling, that is the last heard for him. Did I mention that nowhere on the worthless flyer/coupon did it say that it was only good at those two locations. Deceptive advertising for sure. Too many other better places to go. We had a party of 12 with reservations. Our table was ready when we arrived. Christian our waiter was excellent. He remembered who ordered what beverages and meals...every meal was correct. I felt the price for my meal was very fair. I had a cup of clam chowder that was delicious and full of clams. I ordered the 5 oz grouper grilled/blackened, fresh green beans, and saffron rice. I also ordered a large bottle of Saratoga Sparkling water. My check was only $35! We were seated to enjoy a beautiful sunset. The blinds were then opened and a nice breeze was enjoyed by all. We all enjoyed great food, wonderful service, and clean coastal environment. I wish I would have saved room for dessert!! I will definitely be back!! read more

We went there last night, got there just after their too early happy hour but that makes it easy to get a seat at the bar. The bartender was great. The drinks were excellent. She was very attentive, helped us with the menu, and we both enjoyed our dinners. I had fried oysters with fresh green beans and mushrooms, and the oysters were wonderful. I would totally recommend that. My friend had the butterflied coconut shrimp, and said they were excellent. read more

We had dinner there last night. I ordered a crafted cheeseburger with bacon medium done. When our food came out I noticed the burger was well done and the cheddar cheese was actually burnt. We had gone to the Dry Dock restaurant on the 4th and the crafted burger was excellent, plenty of bacon and the habanero jelly they put on the side was to die for. When I mentioned to the server as well as the manager how disappointed I was at blue lagoon I could see both of them huddled around in a bit of a discussion as to what to do about this. It took 20 minutes to finally get a bill for the food. the maître d didn't comp me for the overcooked meal instead she gave me two tickets for free dessert. I believe there was a reason for that as the server would get a higher tip because the bad meal was still on the check.
