I actually did not have a chance to meet Dean or get my laptop repaired by her, but she deserves more than 5 stars for her customer service. I found her on Yelp, called, left a message about my computer issue, and within 30 minutes or less I received a call back from Dean. She chatted with me for about 20 min or more regarding the issues, and was super thorough questioning specific issues to narrow down the problem. Her fee was slightly more than I could afford (she's reasonably priced for her own self-employed business, I'm just unfortunately tight with my money at this time). She wasn't pushy about anything. Dean answered my request to upgrade my home Wifi network promptly. She got rid of my Google Wifi mesh system, which she informed me was a duo band system, and replaced it with a Netgear Orbi system, which apparently is a tri band mesh. My download speed went from 0 upstairs in my bathroom (where internet is mostly used) to over 50 mbps. I have a degree in IT from NYU and even I was confused by the different systems offered. Why, for example, doesn't Google offer the best system? What's the difference between a wifi mesh system and a wifi extender? Should I use the ethernet in my home hardwire vs. a mesh system? Etc. These are questions that you can't simply Google (ironically). Dean was responsive and very knowledgeable. I recommend her highly. read more

I've always had a computer-tech friend I could drop a broken computer off at, so when I found myself with an unresponsive computer and none of those friends available, I had to dive into Yelp. I have to admit that I was nervous handing my computer and hard drive off to someone who just drove up to my house. Storefronts are permanent, and give you the sense that you can find the person when you want your things back. However, Dean not only proved trustworthy but also supremely helpful and flexible about her time and prices. Dean improved the performance of our elderly (7 years!) home network. We were misinformed by Comcast that we would need to replace major parts of the system. She did some simple tests and identified the sources of our weak signals. She bought and installed the minimum amount of equipment and restored the system to strong performance. My girlfriend awoke one morning to find that her computer would not boot. She's an independent contractor and really needs her machine to work. We tried all kinds of things, researching the particular clues on the internet, and were getting nowhere. We've gotten through other things like this on our own before, but this one stymied us. First, we took the thing to Best Buy's Geek Squad counter. After having it for a week, and paying $70, they could not tell us anything beyond, "It's either the motherboard or the processor", and that they could not fix it, but would sell us a new computer. O.K. We took it back and found a listing for Dean Bradley here on YELP. Through her, we did get a great deal on a used computer, which is working well, and got the data from the old hard-drive. My girlfriend feels that Dean went to great extremes to save the old machine, and came up with the best solution, given all that was involved. Highly recommended. read more

Dean is really knowledgeable about replacing hard drives that have gone bad. She has the right software for analyzing disk issues and then coming up with a proper solution. In my case it was necessary to replace the existing drive as it had bad sectors causing the PC to crash after running a few minutes. For her technical expertise, Dean gets a FIVE stars. But... She lacks people skills. And she's not well organized. When she arrived at my house the first thing she asked is what critical files/data are most important to me...to ensure we get a copy before removing the broken disk. I told her and even had a conversation with her about the critical data files she needed to save. When it came time to back up my data files she didn't have a thumb drive to back them up to. So I had to provide my own. But when it came time to go after the critical files, they were not there. She had not copied them to the thumb drive. She claimed I told her not to copy the critical files. But that's not what I said. I told her I did not need any of my other data files backed up because I have a backup disk with them on it. I did not tell her to not copy my critical files onto the thumb drive. Fortunately she did copy them to her lap top when she got home with the removed hard disk. So when I called her about not have the critical files she told me in essence, "See I told you so, you should have backed them up." You don't tell your client "See I told so." Then she told me to put my thumb drive in an envelope and drop it into her mail box and she'd put the critical files on the thumb. I dropped the thumb into her mail box and left. Later she told me she couldn't find it in her mail box. Then she accused me of putting it into the wrong box. I assured her I put it into the address she gave me. But she didn't get the thumb. So I had to buy a new one. This time I met her in front of her house. But before she came out, I checked her mail box. And there it was...my envelope with the thumb drive in her mail box where I put it. She hadn't checked the whole mailbox and the envelope was in the upper part of the box, not the lower where she checked. Instead of "Oh I'm sorry to have put you to all this trouble of having to come down here twice," I got "I never look into the upper part of the box." Like I'm supposed to know that? Throughout our interaction, Dean was condescending. She would often discount anything I had to say. I noticed MBM M.'s review (a one star) also found Dean condescending. It's too bad because she really is very sharp technologically. But I'll not use her again because she is terrible with people skills. read more

All I could think about was the fact that the newest version of my dissertation was on it, the version that I had yet to back up. First off let me start by saying that I know next to nothing about computers...like two inches away from absolutely nothing. I bought a re-furbished laptop five or so months ago and then it got a virus...don't worry, not swine flu.
