XLB Fillings
Allan Y.

This review is for their service as we finally came in and sat down for dinner. They were pretty busy, we waited about 15 minutes for a table, not too bad. Service was great!!! Once we sat, they brought over menu and they took out over not too long after that. We had the Classic XLBs, Pan Fried Pot Stickers, Beef Stew Noodle Soup, Stir Fried Green Beans and Dan Dan Mein. Everything came out in a timely manor and tasted great.

Truffle shrimp dumplings

Nice modern dumpling restaurant with friendly service. Dumplings tasted very fresh with not too thick wrappers, and there's an open window to the kitchen where you can see things being made! Good variety of noodle soup and dumplings! Will have to try the noodles next time! The table next to us ordered noodle bowls and they looked hearty and delicious! Service was friendly but not the quickest, and they didn't come back to check up on you. Food came out fairly quick though! Overall, great place to fulfill a XLB dumpling craving on the east bay, at fairly reasonable prices!

Late night noodle house with the longest noodles I've ever seen! The first standout to me were the menu prices, everything was very reasonable and it allowed to try more dishes on the menu. The second thing was the decor. I really loved their cute custom tapestry/rug on the wall! It was so cute and I studied it the entire time we were eating. The noodles themselves were fantastic. Cooked perfectly, they the right amount of chew and they were incredibly long. We had three different dumplings, my favorites were the lychee shrimp dumplings. Deep fried sago pearls coating the shrimp were such a fun texture experience! The other dishes were made well but everything was generally a touch bland. It's not that it was a bad thing, but I was just expecting more umami and savory flavors from this cuisine. Also, whatever chili oil they had at the table was dangerously delicious. Between the two of us, we finished the chili oil jar that was 1/3 full when we sat down. The staff were very attentive and made sure you always had everything you needed. We didn't ever have to flag the staff down. I will definitely be back since it's open til midnight, it's affordable, a the portions are pretty generous!

Beef Noodle Soup

Came in and tried a couple of soups with a friend who lives locally and recommended this spot. He says this spot stays open late like midnight and even at 10pm could still be quite poppin', which is a cool bonus for the suburbs. I like their menu, very easy to follow. They have noodle soups, various dumplings more Mandarin in take such as XLBs and SBJs and even grilled items which I'm assuming are on skewers. More like a Chinese version of an izakaya than it is a family style eating place. They make their own noodles here which is a big draw. There's a window where you can see a dude pull this dough into strands like a magic show. The space is also quite hip in a small town way. I could be a regular here. Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($15/4*) Not mine but I sampled the beef and the broth. They use chunks of beef like stew pieces versus sliced beef shank which is also common for beef noodle soups. The beef pieces were not super tender and actually still had a bit of chew to them, which I don't mind. But I think most would expect this to be meltingly tender. Many of the pieces also have a little fat and/or tendon-like parts which give it another dimension. The broth has a darker hue and is more spiced. Definitely a more 5 spice background maybe with some soy and fermented chili. I loved the depth of the flavor. Friend chose knife cut noods and they were thicc with erratic edges. They looked heavy in texture. Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($18/4*) Very nice and thick slab of beef rib. Not bony back ribs where meat is thin and sparse. These are the meaty short ribs (primo) just with the bone pulled off. The rib meat is whole and pretty big probably a half pound. It is a bit awkward picking up a piece that big with chop sticks and gnawing at it. But I ain't no amateur carnivore so I handled it with no shame. This broth is much clearer and more of a plain beef broth without browning. Pretty plain for me so I had to doctor it up with chili oil that's tableside. Gave it a punch I was looking for. I chose the 'narrow' homemade noodle and it was the thickness of a ho fun/fettucini noodle which is my sweet spot. Even though I loved the thickness, their noodle dough is very dough-y and heavy. It does have substantial chew but lacks the finesse and silkiness of a polished noodle. And they give a ton like close to a pound of wet noodles so a bit challenging to finish the entirety of the bowl. The soup bowls also has a few baby bok choy floating about, which rounds out their soups nicely. Service is nice and efficient. They refill water cups like champs which is such a rarity for Asian restos to execute. So with some dumplings and grilled meats I've still yet to try, there is a promise to return. No cap.

Pork XLB

Very reasonable prices. I'm speaking cucumber salad is $5.95! Green beans are $12.95 (pea sprouts are $12.95 as well!)! If you love heavy and very savory foods, I would not recommend their dumplings. Very lack of flavor (and I prefer to eat as less salt as possible). Green beans are meh (like they aren't the fresh crisp beans you'll get at DTF)...very lightly seasoned as well. XLB are very soupy with the top folds stretched out. The color of their cucumber salad is frightenly white. Provides close to no ginger slivers. Can order via QR code but server typically comes to you to order by tablet. You pay by tablet as well. Located in a very tight squeezed plaza and a smallish parking lot with tightish spaces. Would I come back? I personally wouldn't because to me, it is located in a strange area that's away from many things and also an area I don't frequent. Plus I don't find their dishes compelling or tasty enough to make me come here.

A little dumpling gem in San Leandro! We've heard good things about this place, so decided to give it a try! I was impressed with the first impression - clean, cool, hip vibes. The decor, the condiment containers, the plates and settings - someone had a good vision! We ordered a variety of foods, more than we should've do 4 ppl, but we ended up eating it all. Top favorites: Green beans & pea sprouts: I know it's a noodle restaurant, but these veggies were well cooked and perfectly seasoned! They looked quite unassuming, but tasted so good. Next fave would be the variety of dumplings we ordered. Skin was not too thick. Filling was good. Lastly, I wasn't too impressed with the braised beef noodle and dan dan noodle. Good but didn't shine as brightly as the other dishes. Would def come back in a heartbeat. Service was fine. Parking lot or street parking available.

Heard lots of positive reviews about this restaurant so decided to stop by for dinner on our way home. It was 5pm on a Sunday and there were only a few customers inside. I really liked the clean and modern interior. We sat down, ordered, and within 10 minutes our food was ready. We ordered the Shanghai Lan Fried Soup Buns - they were mediocre and the bottom wasn't crispy. The Braised Beef Noodle Soup (knife cut noodles) was warm and didn't come out hot. The Dan Dan Noodles (wide noodles) was a bit dry and could have had more sauce. The flavor for both bowls were just ok. Overall, I wasn't that impressed with what I ordered and had higher expectations given the high reviews on Yelp. I wished I liked it more.

Inside of the Classic Pork Xiao Long Bao

Dao Artisan Noodle is new to the area, only 6 months old but serving some tasty dumplings and noodles. Join their online waitlist otherwise their paper wait list. Parking is challenging in this small lot. Otherwise metered street parking. Modern decor with simple asian decor adorning the restaurant. One corner has some leafy vegetables & herbs growing. Very cool - though bright. Big window area where you can see them making and folding the dumplings. A cozy restaurant but not geared towards large groups/parties. One unisex restroom. Jerry, manager, was very friendly, helpful and took care of us. The other staff workers were just as friendly as attentive. We tried their... Classic Pork Xiao Long Bao: soup dumplings with pork and ginger (4/5). Theirs was a taller and larger dumpling than usual with a thin skin wrapper that contains the soup. Chicken Dumplings (8pcs) - minced chicken & corn mixture. Meaty and flavorful (3.5/5). Braised Beef Noodle Soup (4/5) - choice of noodle type from thin, regular, knife cut, wide, or narrow. I chose the knife cut. The beefy broth was flavorful and was a bit spicy. But not for those who can eat spicy. The noodles were thick and had a nice chew to them. The beef was tender but not as tender as I've had. Though, I know you can't have it so tender that it doesn't hold its shape. Come support your local business.

Hipster Chinese food? Somehow it felt that way! Prob was the: - great English only service - a thank you and farewell at the end was a nice way to end our meal - decor, upcycled tins for chopstick holders and they used the top for the check - music selection We got classics this time: - scallion pancake, too crispy oily for me - pea sprouts - fresh and lots of garlic - pork XLB - juicy and satisfying - spicy beef rib dry noodle, great flavor and huge hunk of beef and I love how you can pick your noodle type - thick, thin etc. Bc I like to adjust salt/spice levels I would ask for the peppers on the side next time Thought the prices are reasonable for a sit down meal and we still had food to take home to eat later. Look forward to trying their skewers and modern interpretations of classics in the future!

Interior: Hironos on the walls

Absolutely love this place! Better than Din Ding Dumpling House and Din Tai Fung, plus it's much closer for me. I've only had it twice already and I already wanna go back bad, esp to try the Dubai Chocolate XLB. Some recommendations: - GET THE XLB, literally the best I've had, esp the Black Truffle - Lychee shrimp catches you off guard at first but it's to die for (super crispy and taste amazing with the sauce provided) - Cucumber salad is a must from now on bc it's actually so addicting. By far the best cucumber salad I've had. It's not much but it's the sauce that gets to keep wanting more. Just wish it was marinated in the sauce a little longer. - Dan Dan Noodles are also a must, very flavorful and a has a nice kick to it Interior with the Hironos surrounding the walls is such a vibe, I love it. Only problem is the space inside is quite small and there's no waiting area except outside. Service is not the best, like it's mediocre. Nothing special, but it's the food that has me coming back. If service was better, I'd totally take more people to try the place, but honestly I think they're busy enough. Another plus to me is that they're open late.

Salmon & Crab Roe Fried Rice
Jessica F.

The food has a beautiful presentation but unfortunately it wasn't too flavorful. In my opinion I felt like the food was bland compared to other places I've been too. The fried rice with tasted like it was just frozen veggies dumped in rice with no seasoning. They do have soy sauce on the side but it didn't help much to amplify the taste. The drinks on the other hand are very refreshing and I enjoyed trying them. The service is quick and you get your order under 10 mins. The style in the restaurant is very nice I just wasn't the biggest fan of the food the dumplings are decent.

My 1234th review goes to Dao Artisan Noodle! I love noodles, and boyfriend wanted to take me out for a late-night dinner after a full day together. Dao Artisan Noodle has been on my Yelp to-visit list for several months, and I noticed that it was open until midnight. So, off we went to get some good noods! It was around 10pm when we arrived, so there were plenty of open seats and parking in front of the restaurant. As soon as we stepped in, we were welcomed with a brightly-lit clean ambiance with chill music. We both ordered the braised beef noodle soup. We didn't choose our noodle types (I would have chosen knife-cut, I'll need to try that another time), so we got the default lamian noodles, which had the perfect thickness and QQ chewiness to them. The beef was very tender, and we both enjoyed it very much. It hit the spot on a chilly evening. Hot tea is complimentary too, along with water (both hot and cold!). Our waiter Jerry was really awesome! Amazing service, and we really enjoyed chatting with him. He also gave us Dubai Chocolate at the end of our meal, which was very sweet of him. The whole staff was awesome at this family-owned restaurant. The Dubai Chocolate Xiaolongbao sounds strange AF to me, but I'll have to try it at some point with an open mind. I definitely want to come back to try more noodle dishes and other items on their menu, including the xiao long bao. My parents are always looking for new Chinese restaurants to go to, so I'm excited to recommend this to them.

They open early and we dropped by around 8:00am to leave our order for pick-up at 10:15am. I found a copy of their order sheet online. It was slightly out of date but it worked out just fine. I handed it to the order taker and she entered it into the computer. There were two items that they apparently no longer make, Egg Custard Tarts and Pork with Peanut Dumplings (Chiu Chow). She rang me up, I paid and she told me to be sure to bring in the itemized receipt to show that I had already paid. Fast forward to 10:20 and I received a phone call to let me know that my order was ready. We were already on the way but hit a bit of traffic that we hadn't expected. Once I arrived, I got into line. When it was my turn, our order was actually sitting on the counter, bagged up and poking out of a food warmer bag. What'd we get? I originally came to Fusion Delight because of the purple interior…read more Seriously. The giant lotus chandeliers, the deep violet lighting, the old-school banquet hall atmosphere - it immediately reminded me of the large Cantonese restaurants that used to define family dining in the Bay Area years ago. But after eating here during a packed weekend dinner service, I realized the real attraction is not the decor. It is the operational consistency. The dining room was completely full, with a long line of people still waiting outside. Under that kind of pressure, many large Chinese restaurants start losing control somewhere: fried dishes soften, stir-fries lose wok hei, food arrives unevenly, service becomes rushed. Fusion Delight somehow keeps the system together. And what impressed me even more was that the staff never became impatient. Even with the restaurant running at full capacity, the servers stayed friendly, patient, and organized. No chaos, no attitude - just steady service under pressure. That is not easy in a restaurant this size. The Mongolian beef was the first thing that stood out. Instead of thin slices hidden under sauce, the beef here is cut unusually thick and long - some pieces nearly two inches. Thick-cut beef is risky because once overcooked it immediately turns tough, but here the meat stayed tender while still carrying proper wok sear and caramelization. That tells me the kitchen understands heat control and timing. The crispy pork intestines were even more impressive. These were clearly braised first, then fried before the final stir-fry. The outside kept its gelatin-rich texture while the inside still carried fat and aroma, but without the unpleasant odor that ruins this dish at weaker restaurants. Even people who normally avoid intestine dishes could probably eat this version comfortably. That level of cleaning and pre-processing matters. The braised lamb with skin was another old-school banquet dish done correctly. The lamb was soft without collapsing, while the skin still retained structure. More importantly, the prep work was meticulous -- no gamey smell, no rough trimming, no shortcuts. The sea cucumber and pork tendon dish also showed strong banquet-kitchen fundamentals. The pork tendon had clearly been oil-expanded beforehand, giving it that proper soft and elastic texture instead of rubbery chewiness. The sea cucumber still retained bite and structure. The Singapore-style rice noodles and scallop egg white fried rice were textbook Cantonese banquet staples. The rice noodles stayed dry and separated while still carrying wok aroma and oil fragrance. The scallop egg white fried rice looked simple, but every grain remained distinct and lightly coated without clumping together. That level of consistency under volume is difficult. Even the red bean dessert soup at the end was handled carefully. The red beans still held their shape instead of dissolving into paste, while the sago remained fully intact and translucent. Most restaurants stop caring once dessert leaves the kitchen. Fusion Delight clearly does not. And honestly, that may be the best way to describe this restaurant overall. Fusion Delight is not trying to be trendy. It is not trying to become minimalist fine dining. It is not trying to be social-media bait. This is a high-volume Chinese banquet restaurant operating with old-school Cantonese production discipline. Hot food arrives hot. Fried dishes stay crisp. Wok hei survives peak hours. Plating still looks intentional during a packed dinner service. That kind of consistency is harder than people think. And somehow, inside a giant purple dining room filled wall-to-wall with families, they make it work. - Dr. C Purple room approved. Wok heat calibrated. Banquet discipline detected. Consistency at scale = correct.

However, within about an hour, the restaurant was almost full. Even though it wasn't the weekend, it was still very busy. There is also plenty of parking, which is a big plus. The restaurant is spacious, with beautiful purple lighting that really catches the eye. The high ceiling also makes the space feel very open and comfortable. Although this place doesn't have the highest ratings on Yelp, it's definitely still very popular and worth visiting.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delish dim sum. Their congee with century egg and chicken is packed with flavor! I enjoyed this for a few more days after as leftovers! The baked pork buns are good - slightly different in that there's no glaze on them but the outside was crispy and the inside tender and the filling was tasty - they are why I'm giving 2 stars. The honey walnut prawns were inedible - the sauce was hard lumpy globs sitting randomly on top of fried shrimps, truly disgusting. The scallion pancakes were not crispy or flaky - Trader Joe's are better. The tofu rolls were cold on one side, like refrigerator cold, while the other side was lukewarm. The jellyfish salad had no flavor whatsoever, just the very slightest hint of sesame. No salt, nothing. The seaweed salad was decent. The deep fried mochi puffs with meat filling were bad. The outer shell was too thick so the inside was uncooked and doughy. Inedible. And, the cold chicken feet were so tough they were in edible. I didn't know you could make chicken feet like that, so tough. Again not really any flavor, they were just tossed with a little bit of chili sauce and hardly any of that. And no vinegar chili sauce for dipping. I would not recommend.

If you're looking for that classic dim sum experience, where servers wheel carts through the aisles…read moreand you simply point to what looks good as it passes by, this is the spot. It's getting harder to find places in the Bay Area that still do it this way, mostly because restaurants just don't have the space anymore for carts to weave between tightly packed tables. That alone makes this place feel a little special. The food itself tastes fresh, and yes, the hot sauce passes the test. I've had a few unfortunate (and slightly traumatizing) encounters with off-tasting sauces during the pandemic, so now I always do a cautious smell-and-taste check first. They also serve "tofu fa" (tofu pudding) with a sweet ginger syrup, which was a pleasant surprise. It's one of my favorite desserts and not something you see often at dim sum spots these days since it's not in high demand. Definitely brought back some nostalgic, childhood vibes. Just a heads up, this place gets busy quickly. If you can, try to arrive within the first hour after opening. Otherwise, be prepared to wait a bit, it's popular for a reason.

Since my parents live in Hayward I bring my family here very often as well. Hard to find a good HongKong style restaurants unless I go to San Francisco or Oakland but in Hayward area this is it. Food has been consistently good and dimsum is offered in their entire opening hours. I wish they open more than just Thursdays through Sundays.

My family celebrated my dad's 87th birthday here. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy, but…read morethere were still seats available. My sister had reserved our tables a few days in advance. The staff told her we wouldn't be seated unless our entire party was present. About 4 people were late, but they still seated us. The restaurant kind of felt old and somewhat dirty. But hey, it was my dad's birthday. I wasn't paying for lunch. We occupied three tables and ordered from both the lunch and dim sum menus. I enjoyed dishes like shiu mai, pork buns, walnut shrimp, fried rice, fish, and fried noodles. The sesame balls were tasty, but the service was slow, and I had to follow up on our order. I didn't care for the bun with the hot dog or the other noodle dish. Later that day, my daughter mentioned she had found hair in a pork bun and that her cousin had eaten it. She also said every item he picked up had hair on it, which was disappointing. I didn't confirm this with my cousin, but it would have been helpful to have someone inform the staff. Fortunately, no one at our table found hair in their food, which was a relief. Overall, the food that I ate was fine, but I wouldn't make a special trip from San Jose to visit again...unless it's a fambam family treat.
