Fan Tuan is the viral food item that has been all over socials, so we decided to stop by to check it out. We arrived on a Sunday around 2 PM and a line was already forming. It's located in an industrial area. I wouldn't have known that business here until it was mentioned. We ordered two Fan Tuans - purple rice burrito and pork belly rice burrito (too much rice). The youtiao (Chinese doughnut stick) was harder than I would like. I really enjoyed the veggie floss and mustard pickle because of the texture and the taste. It's been a long time since I've had one of these - pure nostalgia. It's great that there is a Taiwanese small business in my neck of the woods. I will stop by in the future to try other items on their menu.

This is the only fan than (Taiwanese rice burrito) spot that I know of in the Bay Area so there's not much to compare it to, but for what I know about it, they do it well. Very authentic. Braised pork belly burrito is always a hit. The main annoying thing is how flaky and messy it gets as you're trying to eat it, but they stuff it with lots of goodies. Their menu is literally all over their walls, so it seems like they're always adding new things. They offer zhong zi in different options too which is nice, but haven't tried those yet. Their bentos are pretty decent. Didn't realize they had a braised beef burrito so might be trying that soon. Service is alright. They are quick and to the point with what they do, but they only accept cash or zelle I think - no credit cards. I think they typically make everything to order too, which is nice.

Yummy!!! Ordered the pork belly rice burrito and it hit the spot! Lots of filling inside and the rice was perfectly cooked. Gave me a mouthgasm at first bite. Crunchy, savory and well seasoned. I also ordered the purple rice burrito which was good too. Green onion beef wrap was okay, but needed to be popped into an air fryer. Taiwanese wonton was delicious and meaty, fried Taiwanese tempura tasted like some sort of fried fish cake. Would definitely order from them again soon.

During a recent visit to Hayward, I had a craving for Taiwanese food and stumbled upon MITK Kitchen after a quick search on Yelp. Located in an industrial business park near a car audio and tinting shop, the location is very unassuming: take-out only, with no seating indoor or outdoor. I stopped by right when they opened and within 10 minutes, there was a long line out the door. There are a bunch of pre-made bentos and other grab-and-go items on the counter, but there's an entire made-to-order menu as well. I stopped by in a group and was able to try a wide variety of items. MITK Kitchen has by far the best fan tuan in the Bay Area -- it's not even close. The fan tuan here are so much better tasting and better value than the ones at Xiaoman Riceburrito down in Cupertino and Ranch 99. They are really generous here with how much fillings they pack into a fan tuan. The you tiao inside is incredibly crispy and the pickled veggies and stewed egg inside are exactly like how you'd find them from a street vendor in Taiwan. Definitely get the purple spicy version, because that one is a winner. The other dishes I had a chance to try out was the black pepper bun, the beef roll pancake, and the fried red pork belly bento. Of the three, the one I enjoyed the most was the black pepper bun. There's a lot of well-seasoned beef inside that's juicy and tender. Not quite as juicy as the ones you'll find at Raohe Night Market, but definitely one of the better ones I've had in the Bay Area. The beef roll pancake I tried out was a made-to-order item. The one here is a bit on the bland side -- lacking a slathering of sweet plum sauce and thinly, julienned scallions, but it was good value. The pork belly in the bento we picked up was nicely fried and had a texture similar to popcorn chicken. This one could have been seasoned just a tad more, but I loved the lou rou fan that came with the bento. Overall, while not a perfect meal, I would definitely recommend MITK Kitchen if you're looking to satisfy your craving to Taiwanese snacks and bentos.

A small hidden shop with quick service! There is not much standing room inside, so would definitely check out the menu beforehand if possible. The purple rice burrito was delicious and had a great crunch from the fried dough, saltiness from preserved vegetables and also contained pork floss and eggs. Only thing to watch out for is the burrito does gradually come apart once the plastic wrap is unraveled. P.s. bring cash otherwise there is a credit card fee

I drop my last Sunday around 1pm and waited in line got a bit. I order the purple rice burrito spicy and regular. It was pretty good! I was able to meet the family business owners and met Chris who helped my order. I would recommend this to anyone who is craving Taiwanese food

Can't preorder over phone or online for pick up. Came here at the 12pm hour on a Sunday and had to leave because the 20+ people in line weren't moving. Thanks to SF Chronicle for hyping this place up. Now, they need a bigger storefront or more employees.

I often crave for a good fantuan and a lot of the places are on the peninsula/South Bay and not many in the east bay. Except MITK. Which is great because MITK, hit the spot if you're looking and craving for Taiwanese food! They're a hole in a wall and serves up freshly made food Wed-Sun. They post up the menu and prices on their FB group and you can either order through FB or drop by their actual store to order. They also do pop up and delivery to different parts of the bay but I mostly just order through FB and in person. Prices are reasonable for homemade food, it's not a big establishment and everything is made day of. They recently also started selling jianbing (Chinese crispy crepe) and for the price, you're getting a full meal out of it!

I was eager to try 阿美厨房 (MITK Kitchen) when I was in Hayward for my friend's powerlifting competition, as I am a huge fan of Taiwanese food and love a good Taiwanese breakfast. However, this place fell short of expectations by a landslide. I walked over to MITK in between my friend's sets and ordered a 鸡蛋饭团 (egg and chive rice roll). I excitedly took the first bite, but it was bad, and it only got worse from there. Everything tasted off about the fantuan, which was not a good sign, and I've had MANY, the first of which were from the GOAT, Taipei itself. For starters, the rice had zero flavour and the texture was off, which indicated to me it was either cheap American grown Calrose sweet rice or very old rice from Asia. The egg was prepared American style and also had zero flavour. The 油条 (fried dough stick) tasted stale and way too crunchy. It had a sharp cracker consistency, with none of pillowy softness in fresh youtiao. The 肉松 (meat floss) was the only ingredient that offered a bit of flavour, but barely. All other fantuan I've gotten included 榨菜 (pickled mustard greens), but this fantuan was definitely missing its satisfying crunch and umami taste. Overall, whatever I got here was not an authentic fantuan. It had the right ingredients, but it somehow tasted nothing like the real deal. This is by far the worst fantuan I've ever had, the only one I actually completely disliked, and worst of all, the most expensive at $9. When I saw the rave reviews for MITK, I knew I had to try it, but I guess others haven't experienced authentic Taiwanese food, or they've settled for this knockoff.

No frills, no seating, just takeout. Good solid Taiwanese food. Bento boxes have a decent amount of food for the price you're paying.

We Yelpers LOVE a good hidden gem. MITK Kitchen quite literally brings you back to a small ma & pop shop in Taiwan with its small cramped interior, lengthy menu stacked with Taiwanese favorites, and fresh soymilk pre-made cups. This spot is hidden in a warehouse area where you wouldn't expect great Taiwanese food to be found. The cashier was very friendly and fluent in both Chinese and English. He explained the menu thoroughly and walked us through some popular items. Bento boxes, rice burritos, sweet potato balls, the list goes on and on. There's just so many options here. It's easy to get overwhelmed. Jianbing with roasted duck- they made this fresh on the spot in front of us. As soon as it was done it was piping hot. The onion crepe was thin and chewy. The sauce was quite salty but paired well with the roasted duck and lettuce. The wonton cracker was still a little crispy and added a nice crunchy texture to each bite. I asked for spicy and they did deliver in spice. Fan tuan with braised pork- These were premade and sitting in a cooler so i kept my expectations low. The chinese donut was soggy so it would definitely be better if served fresh. The pork belly was soft, fatty, and tender with a nice soy glaze. I feel like this fantuan was missing more texture and flavors.. so for that reason, I prefer the fan tuan at other spots like Taiwanese Eats in San Jose. If I'm ever in the area, I would come back and try other items. They have so many Taiwanese snacks that you can't really find in the Bay Area. Keep in mind this spot is takeout only and cash only. There is a private parking lot right outside.

A very interesting family-style Taiwanese snack shop, filled with reasonably priced Taiwanese bites. The main focus is offering ingredients for customers to take home and cook themselves, but there are also a few ready-to-eat items available on the spot. Friends who enjoy Taiwanese snacks are welcome to visit! 非常有意思的家庭風格台灣小吃,裡面充斥的價格合理的台灣小吃,主要是提供客人外帶回家自己做,也有少數一些小吃是直接可以買現場做好的。歡迎喜歡台灣小吃的朋友來光顧!

Wow, legit family-run Taiwanese takeout-only spot in a nondescript warehouse right off Whipple. I've driven by dozens of times and knew this place existed! A friend told me about it, whose friend also told her about it. Known for their various bentos, fantuan, and other Taiwanese snacks like stinky tofu. Unfortunately menu not available online so had to rely on Yelpers' photos (thanks!). I called the day before to place a group order. Guy said their Facebook page has the latest info on what's available and pricing. Too bad they didn't have Changhua crystal meatball, that's a specialty not often found here. I got a Jianbing with duck and stinky tofu, both which were made fresh on spot. It got close to noon so they got busy and it was 10 min wait. Jianbing was tasty and pretty filling, next time will try regular pork belly. Stinky tofu wasn't stinky at all, more like fried tofu (3/5). Pay cash for discount. Credit card has surcharge. Purchase over $50 also get free soup base thing, can be used for noodles or hot pot.

The rice cake (well not really a cake but inverted sticky rice cup) was cold and where is the pork floss? The chicken rolls were decent, the best dish. I didn't try the fried intestines but was told there were okay. The stinky tofu not really stinky. I think it is because we are in the US and many restaurants stopped selling this due to complaints. I can take that but the dipping sauce was lacking with no garlic flavor. The other items were nothing to write home about. We were waiting for our stir fried seafood noodles and finally waved down someone only to find out it is out, but no one told us. So we ordered pork chop bento as we saw the next table had one and the portion was amazing. Well, someone must have eaten our order in the kitchen as ours was half of the size as what we saw from the other table. The decor was very simple and as with most Asian restaurant it was noisy. But I was there for the food so no problem. But the food didn't deliver.

We started with the One Piece Mixed Salad (tofu skin, vermicelli noodles, woodear mushrooms, carrots, celery, seaweed, and peanuts, all mixed in a savory, acidic, and spicy dressed ) and the Shredded Potato Salad, both of which made for nice appetizers. We also had the Cold Skin Noodles (Liangpi), a bowl of wide, chewy noodles mixed with a savory sauce and topped with tofu puffs, shredded cucumber , bean sprouts, and a creamy sesame sauce. Hailing from Xi'an, the Braised Pork Pita Burger was fatty pieces of pork braised in a savory sauce, served in a dry round of "pita," but even better was the Spicy Cumin Lamb Pita Burger, which contained a tantalizingly spicy, flavorful filling of tender spiced lamb. The Signature Beef Bone Noodle Soup came with noodles in a simple broth, topped with three bone-in beef ribs. The meat on the ribs was rather tough and sinewy, and the soup on the bland side, but the presentation of the dish was definitely impressive. Finally, the House Special Braised Dry Noodle was a bowl of noodles topped with a savory sauce with lots of different dried ingredients including tofu, s mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and red bell peppers. For each noodle dish, you could select from a variety of noodles, but my favorite by far was the 2cm "General Wide" noodles, which had an amazing chewy texture. Overall, this was a great restaurant for authentic Northern Chinese noodle dishes and other eats. Everything came out from the kitchen in just minutes after we ordered. I love the el dente texture of the noodles giving it a bit of chew. My braised pork belly dry noodles was not dry... very watery which was not to my liking. I want my dry noodles with as little gravy as possible. The flavor was light despite all the gravy, but the veggies and one egg made it up. The house special dry noodles had just the right amount of gravy for taste but not enough ingredients. I was wondering why the restaurant is called One Piece... I guess the entire bowl of noodles is one piece noodle as it was hard to eat as all the noodles are tangled. No complaints here just need to be careful with the splashes on your shirt.
