The bartender was the server for the bar and all the tables, but was able to keep up pretty well. We each ordered a glass of wine and they didn't have that one, so he upgraded us at no additional charge. For dinner, I got the Chicken BLT - it was very tasty, with fresh avocado, tasty bacon, fresh tomatoes (in March in Nebraska!), and tender grilled chicken. My wife got the Rice Bowl and added Salmon, Also, very fresh, tasty, and flavorful. Prices are on the high side, but not unexpected for a nice hotel. The rice bowl with salmon was $24 and my sandwich was $22. The wine selection was good, and they had a decent hard alcohol array as well. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. Every dish was excellent. The croquettes were crispy on the outside and packed with flavor, while both the short ribs and scallops were cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. It's always nice to find a restaurant that delivers both great food and a meaningful purpose. Between the delicious meal, thoughtful service, and mission behind the restaurant, Ooh De Lally is absolutely worth a visit.
