Sadly I cannot recommend this restaurant at this time but I hope with time they will work out the kinks. Availability of service was inconsistent when I stayed there, mainly breakfast (a couple days there was just no chef during their open hours). We grabbed dinner before going to The Orpheum on a Tuesday night. The restaurant is on the ground floor and has a seating area with various tables an a bar that seats about a dozen people. We wondered if we'd need a reservation, but it's much more casual than that, so none is necessary. The menu has a few entrees, handhelds, appetizers, and salads. The night we were there, one dessert was available as well. I should have taken a picture of the menu, but it is one page and a bit abbreviated from the one I saw at ZMenu and on Facebook. The bartender was the server for the bar and all the tables, but was able to keep up pretty well. We each ordered a glass of wine and they didn't have that one, so he upgraded us at no additional charge. For dinner, I got the Chicken BLT - it was very tasty, with fresh avocado, tasty bacon, fresh tomatoes (in March in Nebraska!), and tender grilled chicken. My wife got the Rice Bowl and added Salmon, Also, very fresh, tasty, and flavorful. Prices are on the high side, but not unexpected for a nice hotel. The rice bowl with salmon was $24 and my sandwich was $22. The wine selection was good, and they had a decent hard alcohol array as well. Wines were about the retail price of a bottle for each glass, and martinis and drinks were around $16. Service was good. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying here or to stop in for a casual bite to eat. read more

If you live in Omaha, and work downtown or just want to get lunch downtown without a crazy busy wait...come here!! The habitat is so underrated! They're food is exquisite and the service is top tier. I've come a few times and it is never as busy as it should be. It's totally open to the public and gorgeous inside. If you want to work and eat, I pick this place over coffee shops every time. It's on 18th so it's downtown but not in the old market. The chicken sliders I tried today were amazing! And the fries are the crusty crunchy type. So good and so much food. The Peregrine Hotel's restaurant, the Habitat, is very cute and cozy inside. The bar sits 10ish people, which is where we sat to watch a game. The bartender was great, and made Nate and I some custom drinks with great flavors. The Caesar salad was a bit peppery for me, and the salmon tasted a bit fishy and undercooked, so I wish I ordered the vegan soup instead since that sounded so good. But the fried Brussels sprouts with the Thai sauce was great! read more

Decor | Chicken | Cocktails Monica and I stayed at the Peregrine Omaha Hotel for Thanksgiving weekend. Overall, we enjoyed our time at the property. One of the highlights was "The Habitat." We had dinner there night one and breakfast day two. Decor - the entire property has a bird/nest theme that is intertwined throughout the property to include the restaurant. The various sections allow for optionality in your experience. The first section is meant for comfortable cocktails. The bar is meant for one on one small intimate parties. The back section is a traditional restaurant with tables for parties of 2-6. Chicken - I had the fried chicken sandwich with potatoes for dinner. Monica and I had Brussel Sprouts and fries for appetizers. For breakfast I had the Chicken and waffles but had the eggs Benedict on a separate plate, which I gave to Monica. The chicken is pretty amazing. The chicken I had on the sandwich was MASSIVE, crispy but tender. So overall it was impressive. The chicken on the chicken and waffles appears to be prepared the same. However, there was significantly more chicken on the sandwich than with the waffles. Cocktails - overall, the cocktails are good. They have all the base liquors, and speciality cocktails for each. Additionally, the bartenders can create their own cocktails for you if you give them a direction/inspiration. Pro tip: the chicken dishes are difficult to eat with your hands. Especially the sandwich. So, I found it much more manageable to cut the chicken and the breads make little "mini" sandwiches with each bite. For the chicken and waffle, I cut the chicken and waffle so that the waffle was like buns and put the chicken in the middle. It was pretty delicious. Pro tip: there isn't a lot of parking and to park at the hotel is between $10-15 during the depending on if you plan on leaving and coming back. Pro tip: the kitchen stays open until around 9-10pm during the winter months. Be sure to plan ahead if you go later in the day for drinks and want hot food. read more

This is a hotel bar/restaurant, so take that for what it's worth. It's a very nice hotel, and the restaurant area has a nice feel, but it's still a basic ground floor restaurant. I'll give my opinion in two areas because I don't think it's fair to lump service in with food quality (unless of course you can confirm the cooks are the same person as the server...): SERVICE: Extremely good! The female bartender was awesome. Service was spot on and she was very attentive. To be fair, I was the only one at the bar and only one other group was in the open floor. Regardless, she treated me swiftly and with the utmost respect. I almost got the feeling at times as if she was worried about making sure I was taken care of. I try to be as discreet as possible and I generally have very little needs when I dine. She did her job and did it well. No further points to make here. FOOD: I ordered the Cesar salad and wings. The salad was decent: I've never had a Cesar with a poached egg before. It was set to the side of the salad on the same plate but "artistically placed". The salad leaves were whole and placed on the plate with a drizzle of dressing over the top along with a few Parmesan flakes. It also had three crostini slices. Overall, not bad. The taste was generally good, and the egg while interesting, was okay. I don't dislike or overly like it....just different. The chicken wings however, not exactly the best. I ordered Garlic Parmesan...and honestly, I don't think either of those were on there. They were cooked and delivered as if it was just a plain fried chicken wing. They were cooked fine, just no other seasoning. I won't say they were quite dry like the Christmas Vacation Griswold turkey, but they weren't moist either. At this point, I'm sure you're wondering why I would give Four Stars, and that's because the service was beyond exceptional. And again, maybe it was because it was slow and easy to serve me, so take that with a grain of salt. I am gone from home half of each year, so I spend a lot of time in hotels. I don't always eat in the hotel restaurant, but occasionally it's just easier and with that, I still expect a modicum of service and food. If you're staying here, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you can't get out. If you read this far, I appreciate it. read more

I visited The Habitat twice while staying at the Peregrine - once for drinks and once for breakfast. The restaurant is located on the main/ground level of the hotel. As with the rest of the hotel, the restaurant is beautiful with many nods to the peregrine falcon (the main lighting looks like a giant birds nest). The service we received was outstanding, particularly during breakfast with Maria. She was one of the kindest, most attentive servers I have ever encountered and she seemed truly invested in ensuring you had a positive experience. The food was good, but there is room for improvement. Specifically, the eggs were poached poorly...the yolk was not creamy, but rather hard (like a hard boiled egg). The ingredients were fresh and our meals had good flavor, but the real winners here were the service and atmosphoere. read more

I normally never post any less than positive reviews, but I wanted to draw attention to the fact that the habitat is not serving the full menu they have presented on their Facebook sight. The menu is one small page with small bites and larger bites and we went at 6:30 on a Saturday night before a concert-so there wasn't any special circumstance, that is their menu. The larger bites consist of a fish and chips dish, steak and frites, a chicken BLT, veggie pasta and a couple other small entree dishes. No fish, pork chop, New York strip dishes-anything of substance. I got the "steak and frites"-it was a few ounces of sliced steak in au jus sauce over what appeared to be pre-frozen and fried French fries. My husband got the fish and chips which were lack luster. The end bill was pricey, as much as I would pay in a nice Omaha restaurant. Our waitress, however, was wonderful and served great drinks. Again, hate to leave a poor review, but wanted to warn others it may not be entirely as advertised! read more

We ate here a lot while staying at the hotel! Atmosphere is not great but it is more a hotel dining than a separate restaurant. But don't let that deter you from eating here. Had the half chicken and asparagus! Super tender and delicious! The breakfasts are amazing! The omelette is a must! Also great chicken and waffle!! Great service!! read more
