Empty no one dancing

Getting racist vibes from this place now. Used to be a great place to come and dance on a Saturday night the DJ tonight lied and claimed "Omaha" put a ban on hip hop music in clubs. So he can play his music no one can dance to. If he didn't want to play music to dance to he could have just said that. To say they don't want to play hip hop music to avoid "attracting a certain type" doesn't seem very inclusive for a gay nightclub.

The Max never disappoints! This club has been a must go to in Omaha for almost 40 years. Clean, modern, hi tech lighting and sound! FIVE STARS!

Don't close at 1:30.... Stop being married to Covid, last call is 2am, become the Omaha dance club you're meant to be and stay open.

Absolutely amazing club, has so much potential but the DG sucks. Music is horrible, nothing but old school music from 90s such a turn off

Most crowded straight bars have at least some hostile undertones about them at some point in the…read moreevening courtesy of natural selection and male competitive demonstration. It's part of the background noise of mundane forces at work to undermine quality adult entertainment everywhere like bad lighting, corn syrup and YA literature. Then there are also gay bars like The Omaha Mining Company where that hostile background buzz evaporates like someone turned off the fluorescents at the office. Located on Leavenworth in the sweet spot between Douglas County Jail and urban blight, The Omaha Mining Company has been a home to the local gay community, in one form or another, since the late-60s. It was on the fringe and still is. Thankfully, it's a much safer fringe now than it once was because street parking gets tight on the weekends. Use a spotter or carpool because many of the spaces across Leavenworth are reserved for law enforcement. Inside, The Mining Company has a fun, inclusive, working-class dive bar feel. Of course there is the humor one hopes to find at their friendly, all-inclusive, neighborhood: street signs that read as double entendres in their current context: Elevated manhole, 69th Street, Rainbow Boulevard. It's PFLAG-family friendly bar fun for all. If you've never been or just haven't been in awhile, it's worth checking out. My first trip back to The Mining Company since 2013 was inspired by an invitation to a Youth Emergency Services charity event by Drew Dietz, president of Big O! Bears and featuring celebrity guest Mr. North American Bear 2017, A.J. Perdew. The place was packed with people and positive vibes. The staff was hustling and harried, but never rude. The clientele, many sporting harnesses, could not have no been more welcoming.   One of the best features of The Omaha Mining Company came about six years ago when a rear storage area was converted into a most impressive dance floor. Encompassing three stories and the width of the building, this beautiful, mirrored space is large enough to work as an entirely separate venue for shows.    Knowing people has its privileges. To wit, President Dietz gave me a tour of The Mineshaft, The Omaha Mining Company's basement sanctum. The Mineshaft is not for everyday use. It's a special events/party room just this side of a speakeasy. It resembles nothing so much as a 70s era rumpus room for swingers, perfect for gear night, club meeting, socials or just hanging with the fellas. Besides the bears at the bar were beers on tap: Budweiser, Bud Light, Shock Top, Stella Artois, Stella Artois Cidre, Michelob Ultra, Goose Island IPA and Woodchuck. Pitchers are only $7.75. Bottles of Bud, Bud Light, Brunette Nut Brown and Summit Seasonal are $4. Corona, Modelo, Best Damn Root Beer, Oskar Blues Old Chubb, Heineken and Sam Adams are $4.75. Happy hours are Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays free pool, Wednesday's karaoke is from 8 to 12. Second Saturdays are Gear Night and every 4th Saturday is Bear Bar in The Mineshaft.

If you are visiting from out of town, it's a must stop for a great midwestern steak dinner - go with the Whiskey filet. Any choice of meat you choose will be great and they are cooked to perfection of your ask. We also had an order of crab legs that were great portion sized. This is one of our favorite places to go!

We both ordered the Whiskey Top Sirloin with the Whiskey Marinade with baked potato and salad bar. Includes Bread. The Bread came first and was warm. The bread is really good. The salad bar is decent. Ice berg and greens. I skipped the ice berg and went with the greens. Lots of basic toppings, but everything was fresh. The steak arrived. We both ordered medium to medium well with a light pink center. Mine came out less than rare and was raw in the center. My wife's was half correct and half rare. She kept it and ate the good part. I sent it back. Before sending it back it was very hard to cut the steak. When it came back it was charred and now it was like chewing shoe leather. The worse steak I have gotten at a restaurant. The first 3 tables had steaks sent back that we saw and another two tables sent steaks back. This is a problem with the cook. This is a steakhouse and having a cook who doesn't know how to prepare a steak is a serious problem. The waitress never came back and the service was terrible. Just opened up for the evening and not warm and friendly. I had a show to go to and was not sending it back again and based on the experience so far I wouldn't want to send it back. I won't return due to the service. The wait staff saw and knew how many steaks were being returned. That would be a huge red flag to involve management. They didn't do anything to make it right and we had a show to catch. The return to The Drover was a huge disappointment and need a different staff and master cooking steaks as a steak house.

I come here with friends from time to time and I always appreciate the clean dance floor. It makes it so much easier to enjoy myself when I don't have to constantly look at the floor to see if someone spilled something. We like to get a couple of large baskets of fries to split with friends and try out all of the sauces. I know we have a favorite but you'll have to find your own on the little wall of sauces they have within the vault. This place does tend to get crowded fast and you'll have to reserve a table ahead of time if you'd like a place to set your belongings down, unless you get there early enough.

They treated us like we were dumb and wouldn't give us our ID's back until we paid the $20 cover (outrageous pricing). Many other girls walked in after us and the guys at the door did not stop them and demand to see their IDs like they do for us. It's stated on the website that the Wednesday and Friday night line dancing lessons are free. I even called ahead of time and this older woman on the phone told me that they were free, they would mark my hands, and I was free to go. This was clearly not the case and my group and I will not be returning, as many place in Omaha treat their customers better for cheaper or for free!
