Flixx lounge is your basic hole in the wall gay bar. It's got everything that your small town gay bar has, if you're newly out of the closet, from a big city and you're looking from the "hole in the wall vibe", or you're one of those small town gays that really likes that homey feel, this is the place for you. The service was friendly, I can't say much about the food, but the drinks were prompt, and you get in rather quickly. It's a great place to feel at home, it appears that it's in a reasonably safe area, there appears to be plenty of parking available, and it's most definitely got a lively crowd! read more

I stopped in here after a local concert i attended with a couple of my family. The staff was attentive and fun to talk with. The interior is very well maintained of ANY place i have been! They had some good tunes playing on the TV's which were music videos which isn't something i have seen for quite awhile. They also had a TouchTunes juke box. FYI i am a married stright male and i felt comfortable and welcomed here and i had a great time talking with everyone. Stopped by this bar as it was next on my list to visit for my last day while here in Omaha. It's an average dive bar, with karaoke and all. My caveat is that the people are not friendly to outsiders. I felt as if I didn't belong. Everyone kept to their own clicks and didn't really speak to anyone they didn't know. That may be normal for the area. I just needed to call it out as I'm sure there are other people who would like to connect with local people while they travel. I just want to forwarn you, this may not be the place you want to visit. I did enjoy that the drinks are cheaper than an advérate bar and watching people sing. read more

Being new in town, I was excited to come to drag bingo. In all of the cities I've lived in there were always performers. Flixx had none. Our "host" Ryan in a fishnet top was grabbing at my chest, I was polite and said "no thanks" I was with 1 other friend and we left. There was an old saying in Houston, Texas where I misspent a very small portion of my youth. They probably have a similar cliché here or anywhere with a major conservative button-down cultural vibe where the more bohemian, fun-loving minority of citizens let loose in a part of town they call their own. It went something like, "If you want that sort of thing, go to Montrose, buddy, 'cuz they ain't nothing like that in Seabrook." It might have been less of a saying and more of a warning -- it was the 20th century, after all. But I owe that lady a debt of gratitude for this lesson: If you're new to town, thirsty and don't want to be called a Yankee, get thee to a gay bar. That advice has served me well to this day. I made a couple of trips to Flixx Lounge. I recommend it highly and plan to go back for Priscilla Queen of the Desert live in their show bar. Flixx is located just off the south end of the 10th Street Bridge on the edge of Little Italy and gentrification. It's been around for nearly 15 years and was, according to my bartender, remodeled a little over a year ago. Outside the streets are clean, parking is complex, but available. The neighborhood only lacks these days for not smelling like Butternut. The fairly recent interior remodel gives Flixx a clean, open, comfortable, friendly, spacious feel empty or full. There are a dozen TVs, darts, pool, leather couches, several electronic bar games, an internet jukebox and a beautiful old fireplace. Top honors for cleanliness and maintenance for Flixx. Had someone told me it was renovated last month, I would have believed them. I had my choice of drinks, of course, but the bartender assured me the frozen orange slushy was 1) good and 2) his own recipe. It was like being hit in the head with a really cold basketball. The click was worth the brain freeze. Normally, I'm a sipper, but I downed two of these like judgment was at hand. Flixx also has all the cocktails you could want as well as 10 beers on tap: Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Angry Orchard, Shock Top, Lagunitas, Stella Artois, Goose Island Wheat and one Flixx-labeled light beer. Flixx has karaoke every Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Flixx. Their show bar is open Fridays and Saturdays. Specials are Monday and Tuesday $2 off martinis, $2 domestic and $3 premium beers. Twofer Tuesdays buy one drink at regular prices and get the second beer for $1, plus $2 domestic beers and $3 premium, $12 bucket of domestic bottles. Wednesday is a dollar off all whiskeys, $3.50 well drinks. Throwback Thursday has $2 of PBR, Old Style and Busch Lite. Friday is $4 Long Island Iced Tea. Saturday night is $2 tap beer all night. Let me just start by saying that Flixx just isn't what it used to be. There used to be a great bar called Chixx adjacent to Flixx. Unfortunately, that is now closed and that section is now Flixx show bar for special occasions. I don't go here nearly as often as I once did. The atmosphere has changed somewhat. Instead of new and interesting music on the TVs/sound system, I often encounter old and worn out 80s and 90s music. Most of the time Saturdays are the days with the best music. I unfortunately stumbled upon what was supposed to have been a "wet boxer" contest last night. Keep in mind I'm not a gay guy, but this was pathetic. There were no participants, so the bar was going to use their waiters in the contest. The picture they had to advertise the show was repulsive... so much so that my gay (guy) friend found it disgusting. The crowd is becoming much older than before as well. One of the good things about Flixx is that the waiters are usually very fast and efficient. You can at least have a drink quickly while suffering through a bad music video! What an awful bar. I was passing through Omaha on a road trip and decided to check out a gay bar in town. Unfortunately, I chose this one. I've never been to a more unfriendly and unwelcoming bar ever, not even in NYC or Paris! I got my first drink with no problem, but getting another one took about 20 minutes and bar wasn't crowded. I set my empty glass down on the bar when the bartender was right in front of me. He ignored me and proceeded to serve every other customer and pour shots for himself and his friends. When he finally finished, he walked over and said "Oh, did you need something?". Also, the entire bar was playing a trivia game, but I wasn't invited to play. I guess you have to be a regular here to have any fun or good service. Definitely not a welcoming place for visitors. Very cliquish and unwelcoming. I left and went to another bar and tried for 20 minutes to get a drink before finally leaving. At least that place was very busy and only had one bartender, so it was understandable. Next time I won't be stopping in Omaha. Des Moines was the complete opposite, very friendly and welcoming. I wanted to like Omaha, but my experience there wasn't great. read more

Flixx is a fun spot, but not quite my typical scene (for reasons other than the loud dance music and videos adorning the walls). And I'm kind of surprised that the only other person to review was our friend the Dr... Anyway a group of us went after a friend's birthday and were lucky enough to stumble upon the Miss Flixx pageant. Without getting into too much detail, I think it suffice to say that I've never before experienced the 'magazine model self esteem' feeling while looking at a guy before last Friday night. One of the highlights (of which others included people adorned in string lights, a lesson on waving, high kicks, dollar bills, and plenty of tiaras) was when we were heading into the pageant and were told, "sure, just cut through here when she's done" then ended up on stage briefly. Whoops... but all in all not only was it an experience, but a good time, and to paraphrase Bill, I'll never hear Owl City's Fireflies the same way again. read more

Like, Totally Tubular Fun! I had me a blast at Flixx - Saturday night, hittin' the town Omaha style, this is the place to party and party we did! We arrived fairly early and the place was mostly empty. No problem, this just meant we got a good seat at the bar :-) Both bartenders were nice, funny and cute - which always helps. Crackin' jokes, makin' drinks, keepin' the customers happy...great service! I (think I) had 5-6 strong vodka drinks and two Tuaca shots over the span of an hour or so. The time came to pay the tab and move on...when what do my wondering eyes do see? The bill was $23 - oh me, this cannot be!!! Talk about a joy-gasm. By this time time the place was packed and I didn't want to leave. However, next time I'm in Omaha this will for sure be one place I will make a stop! I've been coming to this place for years and will continue to for years to come. Whether you're gay, straight, bi, lesbian, transgender, etc. you are always welcome. I truly feel like this is a place where everyone is free to be themselves. I love the relaxed vibe of this bar. You can sit on the big comfy couches and feel like you're at home or shoot some pool on the other side of the bar. The bartenders are speedy and friendly. We landed here on a fluke after we deemed ourselves a bit "too old" when we ventured to another nearby establishment and left still thirsty but quite cognizant that we were a) out in our yoga pants since it's a last minute "let's go out" situation and b) we do not giggle two octaves higher than our normal voice range. Attended the Drag Queen Bingo with a few friends for my birthday and we had an absolute blast. The drinks were cheap and good. The service was great and the vibe was welcoming. The Bingo games were hilarious and the two hosts had everyone laughing with all the smack talk. They called up all the birthday people, sang to us and gave us a birthday shot. Super cool! I'd give a 5 star review but I'm giving it a 4 because it got a little awkward during the last game until people started winning. I'm not sure if it was because people were getting drunk and tired. I spent 12 years in Omaha before moving back out to LA, and I was never out when I lived in NE so it's fun to see that there are gay bars and events now. I knew I wanted to visit Flixx when I was in town, specifically because of their drag bingo and drag shows! We saw on their website that they had a drag show on Saturday night, so my friends and I excitedly planned our night around it. We arrived at the bar around 9 and I immediately loved it. It was clean and large, well- air conditioned (a necessity with the heat outside) and not packed with people. Drinks were outrageously cheap - when I paid my tab (4 mixed drinks) it ended up being $30 with an extra tip, something I would have easily paid over $60 for here in LA. The bartenders were great and personable. They made our drinks very well and very quickly. Here's the part I was less impressed with: After sitting at a table for a while and wondering when the drag show was going to start (the vibe was pretty subdued and there were maybe only 15 people hanging out, drinking, and talking and it was already near 10pm), my friend went to the bar for another drink and to ask when the show would begin. She was told that the drag show was already happening in the room next door but that it was for men only. What? First of all, is that legal? Second of all... maybe they could mention that on their website before advertising something they're not offering to everyone? It was a big disappointment as we had planned our night around it. Not a huge bust considering the drinks were great and cheap and the vibe was nice, but a definite letdown after getting excited to go. Furthermore, their site advertises "male and female impersonators". Male impersonators? So, people who are not male are in the show but are not allowed to attend? Anyway, long story short it was kind of a letdown and also it's never fun to be excluded. We left pretty soon thereafter. read more

Interesting place. As a straight guy that will occasionally let a gay friend or two take me here - and also being from the New Orleans area - this place hasn't phased me in a negative way such as a few other venues (like Connections). I've been here 4 or 5 times now. Every time I've walked in, I've been taken off guard at how much the place smells like baby powder. It's not bad - just not what you'd expect from a bar. The first time I went, I was overcharged for my beers, and also had my ass grabbed by 3 different people - all of whom must have been some sort of grope ninjas because each time I turned around, people had their backs to me. That wasn't cool. I gave it another shot and had a better time, and actually checked out the place. There's your typical 80's/90's music with [I think] hilarious videos always playing. It's not too dark, not too bright. The place looks very sleek and clean, which isn't typical for a small Omaha bar. The bartenders have been super friendly and nice, and usually pretty quick. Either drink prices have dropped dramatically, or the guy I saw the first time (and haven't seen since) no longer works there. The bartender I've seen the past few times also gives decent pours. The crowd seems decent, usually. It's not hard to go in, strike up a conversation, and even find a half-decent pool player. For what it's worth to any gay people reading before going in - most of the younger guys in there seem to be on dates. The older guys aren't shy about hitting on someone half their age. That hasn't bothered me, but be prepared for it to happen a few times (in case you're a wallflower). Certainly not my preferred scene (I can't dance and I prefer blues and rock music - well, and women) - but I've had a pretty darn good time each time I've went. read more

I can't speak about other days/events, but certainly the once a month Drag Queen bingo event is a must attend...2 coworkers dragged me along and I ended up having a pretty great time...the drinks, especially my Angry Orchard were very reasonable I thought, the employees there were all super friendly, and especially with so many people attending for the bingo event, pretty much all who were there were in excellent spirits and having a great time...it's fairly small inside, so get there early if you plan on attending Bingo since it filled up quickly...it's free to play but you can buy extra cards and there's even food to purchase with all proceeds going to local charities, which is always a good thing... read more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME!! The owners are very active in there establishment thats hwy this palce is doing so well and is ALWAYS PACKED!! Get their frozen drinks and get them mixed only 4 to 5 bucks!! AMAZING!! The venue is cute kinda small but seems small due to it being always packed. The drag shows are amazing and are next door, always a good time next door. Between The Max and Flixx, I'm pretty surprised at how clean and pleasant Omaha's gay bars seem to be. We caught a drag show here that seemed to have about two dozen performers or something. It's not often you find that kind of variety. They may not all be as polished as you might find in larger cities but I can't say we didn't have a good time. I went to Drag Queen Bingo this past Sunday and had a blast. We got in line around 12:45 (doors open at 1) and thank god we did because we were able to get a couch to sit at with a group of four. Other people joined our table by sitting on the floor. Everyone is friendly and there to have a good time. The bar is open from the time you walk in (might have to wait a good 15-20 minutes for a drink) but heard the drinks were delish! The drag queens that call the numbers are a hoot! You get a comedy show during the five hours of fun! They will give you a free card for the beginning of every bingo game and if you choose to purchase cards they are $1 each. The money raised is split 50/50 to a jackpot round at the end and the other half goes to a charity. This past Sunday it was $734 you could have won! When I was there, you were playing for presents that were wrapped. If you won a bingo - you chose your present from the table or stole from another winner. Game ended around 6ish. You don't have the stay the entire time - I left at 4. And the crowd is a mix of people - fun times! read more

Flixx is a very nice bar. It's really 2 bars. There's the video lounge bar which is set up beautifully. Pool, music and video on flat screen TV's and nice leather couches in front of a faux fireplace.Next door is the show bar which is open Friday and Saturday nights is a great spot to catch a little entertainment. Make sure you catch the Miss Flixx's Jewels and Joyce they will really entertain you and the very hot Mr Flixx Dejay you will be amazed my his live local and you will also be drooling all over him. My only beef with this bar is that the drink prices are rather high. read more
