Small place , big flavor! Don't miss this spot! I wasn't expecting this much flavor in a grilled steak enchilada but dang with the Alfredo sauce too? Seriously delicious and paired with the local ipa on tap. Yupppppppppp winner! My wife has the grilled steak sandwich which was also very good. The wait staff was super nice and the restaurant was very fancy inside. There was a bar area to enjoy cocktails and There were a few seats outside too. The bathrooms were clean and so was the restaurant. There is ample parking out front and at least 3 different people came to check on us. This place is very unassuming from the outside. When you step inside you're greeted with a full bar and a large beautiful dining room. It was a lot fancier than I expected it to look like, I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, provided us with the evening's specials and allowed us time to have conversation and make our meals selections. I went with the fried pork tenderloin sandwich. The pork with juice with a well seasoned breading. The meat was on the thicker side of tenderloins I have had in the past, which I really enjoyed. They provided a housemade mustard sauce and ketchup. The fries were cut in house and fried to perfection. My friend got the black and blue burger. He said it was perfectly cooked and also enjoyed the french fries. They have a large menu with a variety of dishes from pizzas, salads, burgers/sandwiches and enchiladas. I saw an enchilada go out to another table and it was HUGE. They also had a lot of appetizers options. Hours are limited, dinner only, but the food is amazing. We called 3 hours ahead on Saturday for a 7pm reservation on Sat for our anniversary dinner, reserving 2 chicken dinners. We arrived and were seated after 25 minutes, waitress telling us she put in our dinners we reserved. We sat sitting there waiting and watching while everyone else was served until 8 pm. We had to ask the waitress for a dinner roll to tie us over. We asked the waitress where our dinners were and her response....I will put them in now. I forgot. We will never go back. This place is HIDDEN! Far north, few will know to go without recommendation. I recommend. Tucked away next to. Gas station, one might expect a simple roadside eats business. This is no roadside eats business. I'm quite sorry it's not nearer to my home. I enjoyed this business. Inside is a well styled and pleasant environment that had me wanting to stay longer. Sadly, it was booked out already. That tells me that locals favor it, worth noting. The staff were uniquely friendly, to us and to each other. I noted several collaborations, and in asking our waitress, I was told that it's how they like to work. So friendly and positive. In today's climate, that's gold. So enjoyable. The styling of the place suited e well. We got a booth, completely by virtue of our spontaneity and good fortune. There are many tables, though, and a bar if one prefers. All seemed to receive excellent care, and many tables ordered the friend chicken, some in mass quantities. It's worth ordering extra, as it was delicious later asa cold tasty. This one is a little hard to write....my reason for 3 stars is service. I heard about Finicky Franks from a YouTube video a local realtor posted. Its in interesting spot, the interior is so charming and feels upscale, but the business next door is a gas station. Finicky Franks did a great job adding a fence and thick greenery to obstruct the view of the gas station. For food, I had the Rueben, honestly, might be one of the best I've ever had! However, things were not executed well. We waited 5-20 minutes for drinks...one of them was a beer. Then, the table next to us apparently had the exact same order and the server incorrectly brought the table next door's food to us. I took one bite of the onion rings, but my dining companion did not touch his plate so the servers took his meal, gave it to the table next to us, but left mine? Which meant I had my food for about 20 minutes before the person eating with me received theirs? It was so odd. The table next to us would have had the same issue - one person got their meal while the other had to wait. I felt it could have been handled a little better overall. I do want to go back, I love finding places off the beaten path and would love to explore more of their menu so I'll give them another shot. read more

What a delight Finicky Franks is!!! The decor walking in is warm, cool, & cozy. The food and service was fantastic. My husband said it's the best prime rib he's had. We also ordered the soup of the day (potato). It had such depth of flavor--absolutely delicious. The margarita pizza was superb and the chicken spinach mushroom enchilada was divine. Don't forget the desserts! This restaurant blew my mind...it competes with some of the best in Omaha, in my opinion. Highly recommended!! read more

Wow! Drive a little north of downtown Omaha and treat yourself to this little gem of a restaurant! I would totally make reservations if we go again, we didn't but did manage to sneak in, but it definitely was busy and isn't too big! They do have a complimentary parking lot, the building is attached to a gas station. They have outdoor, indoor and bar seating. Nice clean, super cute atmosphere and decor! Service was quick, great, and always checked in on us. The food was wow, delicious, I could eat the baked brie and goat cheese dip every single night and never get tired of it. My burger was cooked perfectly and I got a side of a cup of their homemade chicken noodle soup and wow the noodles were soooo yummy! Although this restaurant is in an unusual location (next to a gas station), you totally forget that little annoyance once you enter. The serving staff are kind, friendly, and efficient. The decor and atmosphere are conducive to good conversation and casual dining. It was our anniversary and we wanted to celebrate at a nice, but not too fancy, place. Finicky Frank's filled the bill exactly. We arrived early to avoid a wait -- good thing, because it soon began to get busy on a Saturday evening. We started off with the crab cakes appetizer -- loved them! Two thick cakes with good crab flavor, nicely crusted, served with salad fixings and aioli sauce on the side. Delicious! Saturday's special is Fried Chicken and my wife selected that. Half a chicken served with mashed potatoes, creamed corn, dinner roll & jam, and even a bowl of vanilla bean ice cream for dessert. She could not eat it all; that meant a take home lunch for tomorrow. I chose the Seafood Enchilada and it was amazing! Large, hot tortilla stuffed with salmon and spinach with shrimp on top covered with garlic Alfredo sauce. Good portion size so that I could take half home for later enjoyment. I am very stingy with my 5 star ratings and Finicky Franks deserves it. The owner and head chef takes the time to come out to your table and greet you. I can honestly say this is only the second time in all of my restaurant experiences that this has happened. Our server was awesome, he was attentive but not annoyingly so. The restaurant itself has a homey comfortable feeling to it. It was nicely decorated, clean and you could walk to the restroom without having to squeeze past tables and people, I am not a teeny woman and I really appreciated that. The restroom is clean and not running out of anything (ladies you know what I mean), nothing is worse than calling to a stranger in the next stall to hand you some toilet paper, actually what is worse than that, is when there is no stranger to call out to, and you have to wait until someone comes in. Now let's get to the food and drinks. We had the chicken dinner which is served family style and I absolutely loved that, instead of being served a ginormous plate of food, I was able to put as much or as little as I wanted on my plate to eat and go in for more if I wanted it. The chicken was cooked to perfection, golden brown, juicy not greasy and there was flavor all the way to the bone, not just in the skin, which was oh so crispy. The mashed potatoes were not from a box, as a cook-from-scratch person, I know instant potatoes when I get them, there is no way to really fix them. The gravy was a white gravy, so at first I was like hmm meh, but I was wrong, the gravy was quite good. There was also a creamed corn side, but I didn't eat any, I'm just not a fan and I had to use my tummy room for the chicken. I ordered a lemon drop, while it's my favorite cocktail, I don't order it very often, because it's rarely made right to my taste, they are always too sweet. This one was just sweet enough and was made with real lemon juice and decent liquor pour. I have one tip for you, If you want the fried chicken dinner, call first, they don't always serve it every day and when it's gone it's gone, so if they have it, come early. And trust me, you will want that fried chicken! If I had one critique it would be that there was no hot sauce, so if you need hot sauce on your fried chicken, chuck a bottle in your purse or pocket. read more

First five star in years, since being an amateur food critic/Elite but this is it folks; for me anyways. It's not solely based on food but in combination, that atmosphere mixed with different mediums, textures, sounds and feel. First, make a reservation as per their request (402-451-5555), casual dress code. They're a small, quant restaurant, with very limited parking and it'll help them out immensely. We arrived earlier than our 7pm slot and they were quick to seat us. Quickly greeted with water glasses and our waiter, we were educated about their Walleye special ($25), and the soup of the day (Jalapeño Potato). Ordered a Lemon Drop Martini, and hunkered down into conversation. One chose the Reuben (way too much thousand island dressing, which made the bread, soggy) with fries, and another chose the Walleye special. Over all, the Reuben was just "ok" and I was pleasantly surprised with their Walleye - having had plenty while visiting Minnesota - their take on home made tarter sauce paired well with the Walleye, and their take on coleslaw (kale, cabbage, and couldn't make out the third vegetable) actually made me like coleslaw again. Although they're what I call a "boujie" place to eat based on price and decoration choices, but between the black and white tile, punk, eclectic look, I was sold. I'll be even more sold when their patio is open this spring/summer season. We will definitely be going back, and you should give them at least one try. read more

Tried this place with my wife for the first time this week and I was blown away. Great vibes in the restaurant. The staff is very kind, the bartenders are very experienced, and the food was incredible! I ordered a margarita which was very good. Perfect amount of alcohol and syrups. My wife and I ordered a few apps that I didn't get pictures of but we shared a fried brie appetizer which was the right amount of sweet and savory with the other things that came with it. I got the pork tenderloin with onion rings for my meal and it was so great. The pork within the fried batter was so thick and juicy. The breading was unique to the restaurant and it was seasoned so well. The onion rings were fantastic as well but wish I got more of them. The waitress who we had was constantly checking in and making sure we were having a great experience. You ever go to a place and think this item was better than this? I could not decide what was better because all of it was so darn good. I'm sad I didn't know of Finicky Franks but so glad we found it! read more

Don't let the gas station next to Finicky Franks throw you off. An eccentric restaurant tucked away in northern Omaha that has a fun diner feel when you step inside. Be sure to look at and read the local memorabilia and quotes that are displayed throughout the restaurant. The food, equally as enjoyable. Pictured are the apps that our party quickly ingested upon being served which included a perfectly deep fried plate of truffle and Romano fries as well as baked Brie puff pastry. I suggest for bigger groups, making a reservation to make sure everyone can be seated. My party was timely waited on and served. We were often checked in on throughout our meal but not pestered. Not pictured was my margherita pizza. The crust was a tad bit too crispy for my preference and the pizza was littered in cherry tomatoes but the cheese ratio was just right. I have wanted to go to this place for a number of years so finally took the opportunity last week. I ordered the Mexican prime rib tacos, and my son had the Reuben sandwich. The prime rib tacos were not prime rib. It was a tough skirt steak. My son said his Reuben was really good. The service was good and the atmosphere was interesting. Three stars is the best I can do as the prices were high for the quality of the food. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again. read more

Fairly versatile menu . Appetizers Soups salads sandwiches burgers pizza enchiladas. Our server was very accommodating, taking time to explain things and listening to our needs. The atmosphere was much nicer than I expected as far as decor, but I didn't feel out of place. I love the little lamps and small fresh flowers on the table. Dad had the walleye special with Cole slaw and sautéed red potatoes. He ate it all and loved it. I had the chicken spinach and artichoke pizza. Cut party style and very thin crust but tasty. Our guests had the pork tenderloin with friends and the steak enchilada. She did not care for the fries but the tenderloin was good. The enchilada was favorable but larger than expected. Best meal you'll ever have at a gas station. Went here for a friends going away that has been dying to try it. It's a bit of a hike from Omaha proper but a bit to my surprise was well worth it! Right when I walked in I was face to face with Coach McDermott so I took that as a good sign (Go Jays!). We got the truffle fries and baked Brie wrapped in puff pastry. Both very good, especially the Brie. I'd describe the menu as elevated diner fare in the best way. There's enough unique twists to keep it interesting. The special was walleye and a side of coleslaw and well seasoned twice baked potatoes. Once never had walleye and not one to pass up new things it was excellent. My wife got the steak enchilada that had a novel tweak of the sauce being Alfredo with blue cheese and bacon. It was as it sounds - quite tasty. Saturday night chicken special had a packed house. You had to have reservations to get in and get the chicken. That's fine, didn't know that. We were able to sit at the bar and order food. Again, they were busy. Possibly a little short staffed. We sat there, totally unacknowledged, for what seemed like an eternity. We were ready to get up and leave. I stopped a server, Erica I think, and asked about service at the bar. She said she would be right with us. When she got to us, she was apologetic and took care of us . The whole time we sat at the bar before this, Brian behind the bar, never once greeted us. He never acknowledged our presence or said that someone would be right with us. We visited Finicky Franks on a Saturday evening. It was pretty busy which is always reassuring. They made room for us at a table in the waiting area which was actually nice it was kind of like private dining. I started with the Brie pastry puff which was very good. Really enjoyed the surgery walnuts. For a drink I had a red eye Mule. It was fine but the ginger beer was different than I am used to. My husband ordered the usual burger. He likes his plain , ( I know boring), cheese only. They brought it with grilled onions. Oops. He just scraped them off. I thought they were a great addition. The burger is cooked really well but needs seasoning. He had fries as a side. No excitement there. I ordered a seafood salad with crab cakes. Pretty good just a bit more cake than crab. After years of friends recommending it to me, I finally had dinner at Finiky Frank's this week. My wife and I enjoyed our meal and will certainly be back. The restaurant is smaller, with a really nice patio, and is very clean and well cared for. The menu is on the smaller side, but they do oftentimes have specials. The special on Wednesday when I was there was meatloaf, and it had just sold out right before we sat down, it looked and smelled amazing. I had a pork tenderloin sandwich and onion rings, while my wife had a veggie burger and fries. The onion rings are absolutely fantastic, some of the best I've had, the tenderloin was also good, seasoned well and cooked just right. My wife said her veggie burger was good as well, she really liked the grilled onions and peppers that came with the burger patty. I should also mention that our waitress was very friendly. read more

Made a reservation for my friends and I and were promptly refused service because one of the eployees claimed we were 'harrassing' her, when we had only just walked in the door. Additionally, other employees were being very rude and hostile towards us, when we had only made polite exchanges. We waited for 20+ minutes outside past the time of out reservation in the heat, chatting with each other. I went inside to check on time, where the owner then unprofessionally asked us to 'take this outside'. Where she then told us that she would not serve us. Horrendous service. read more
